- Band runs two sizes small! Cups run small. Basically this is fit-wise a 26E. Wonky, Claudette!
- Cups more open on top. 3-piece seamed half cup. Flexible wires. Inner cups have such soft fabric! - Shallow and narrow for a 30DD. But if I regard this bra as a 26E, then it becomes difficult for me to characterize this dimensions due to my limited experience handling that size. - Three columns of fasteners!! Side boning. Tall gore. Ahhh all the support structures are in place, now if only it were sized right.
To sum, this is an excellent option for someone in need of a 26E!
Me: tall roots, close-set, average or narrow width, even but functionally FOT, centre-full, size asymmetry. 26" and 34" leaning.
Good for shallow, full on bottom shapes. It seems to run a cup size small, my 30DD measures more like a 30D. Other than that, the only fit issues I encounter are too wide straps and a too big band (expected)
Another less-than-15-dollars bra off of Amazon, provided by HerRoom this time, so I thought, "why not?!" I haven't tried a Claudette in like 5 years. Will try on in the morning!
So.... It fits!! It's probably technically a bit too big, seeing as there's a small bit of in-cup wrinkling after my boobs settle, but when I first swoop and scoop, there's a bit of quadding. The wires are ever so slightly too wide, so there's space to escape to the side. If they were just under 1/4" narrower, it would be perfect!
There's a small bit of empty space just under my breasts, more under my left boob ...especially, but I have a flat spot underneath, so I just think it's due to my trapezoid-shaped roots. So far with a few minutes of wear, the bra doesn't slide down.
Top elastic doesn't cut in, which was my biggest worry. But with weight loss, I've kept some of my projection and base height, but not my fullness, so with very empty lower half, I am effectively shorter rooted now. I still have a thin bit of tissue that goes mostly to my collar bone, but the fullness is mostly just at and above the apex and no higher.
Gore is nice and low, but the ends of the wires dig. With my ribs flaring right below my breasts, it causes the bottom of the wire to tilt away therefore causing the ends to tilt towards my chest. I can't win with gores! Too high, and it just hurts pinching the edges of my roots against my sternum, but too low and they stab right into me. Will have to bend away.
The band only stretches to 29 inches, but surprisingly still feels too big on. I have it on the middle hook yet it stretches far from my back. If I can get it for $15 again, I'll try a 28 band.
Profile wise, well it's sheer mesh, so it doesn't add much. Just kinda is a placeholder to prevent jiggling, otherwise my natural shape is still there. (for me the cups are a bit pointy in shape like I am. Could be again that it's slightly too big, I've seen rounder images from fuller shapes stretching the mesh more.)
Overall, very happy! So sad the brand is gone! I always seem to like discontinued brands :/ Will snatch whatever is left on Amazon before they're gone for good!! Could even make a pattern from it. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Will upload more pictures once I'm not in public any more (at a wedding!).
More pictures up!! And oh, as for the color! Definitely not what it appeared on the screen. The model was pale and it appeared a matching color, but it's definitely more suited for an olive toned skin that's darker (it matches the olive-tan pillow perfectly haha). I love the hot pink, though!
Update after a full day of wear: It. Fits. It fits!!!!!!! The underwire actually follows me nearly exactly, the cups stay the same all day (don't have to readjust) and it's comfortable overall! Still need to bend the underwires out from sternum, but I hardly notice the bra is there! I could be nitpicky about strap width, but seeing as they are a very stretchy elastic (pros and cons there as well) I can wear them tighter without it digging in too badly to prevent the slipping off feeling. Oh yeah and I have the ba s on the middle hook, so I think I'll try a 28 band next. Unsure if I'm more bloated or what, but I didn't have any cup emptiness today. A few wrinkles but those I know are from the straps being tight. In all my other bras, since the wires are too wide, I settle into the sides and the center and upper parts of the cup end up empty, but not in this bra!! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> I need to buy more before they disappear for good!!! I have waited far too long to write this review. It's a lovely bra with a nice shape, good support and is very forgiving of fit issues and asymmetry. It's also really comfortable. So sad that Claudette is discontinued.....I wish they weren't... Thankfully another user was selling this. It is a size larger than I typically would buy, but I said to myself "Why not? They're DC'd and it may be my only chance to to get it!" The straps on this bra feel softer than most "elastic" based straps. They're fully adjustable. They also have the annoying 'loop-de-loop' detail on the sides of the straps that ...I find annoying and unnecessary. It's not visible unless you're looking at it close up!!!! They are average width about a half and inch. I don't think they would be very aesthetically pleasing if they were much thicker. This is a Claudette bra so the band is on the tight side for a 30 band. This is great for me since I require a 28 band. This bra was pre-owned so it's stretcher than a brand new one. 29" stretched band is still firm for a 30 band. So, I wear it on the tightest hook. Though I think it still has a good bit of life left in that elastic, Claudette always uses really firm high quality elastic. It's a bit thinner than I prefer, but it's plush and doesn't dig in in an unsightly way. Unlike Claudette Dessous, the mesh used on this bra band is soft and smooth. I do not believe it is power mesh, which explains why it is not quite as firm as other Claudette bras. The wires are touching at the top of the gore and doesn't get too much wider towards the base of the gore. This is nice for me as pretty much all gore wires sit on my breast tissue. It still does with bra, but not as bad as some. Thankfully I am not very full there; so it is not very noticeable. As with all Claudette bra gores and my sternum, they dig in some. There is always a bit of room in the wire channel on Claudette bras; so I can push the wires down from the gore towards the outside of the cup. If it continues to bother me I can simply bend the wires away from sternum some. The wires are very firm, much like Panache/Cleo wires. This makes the bra very stable but can be uncomfortable for some. They are a bit wide for me. But due to how tall the wires are at the sides and the full coverage of the cups, this prevents my breasts from trying to escape after scooping and swooping. Now onto the cups. This is a VERY full coverage, three piece cup. They're not lined and not padded. It appears to be one layer of a polyester-esque fabric that is smooth and comfortable against the breast. The fabric has little to no stretch and is thick enough to prevent most head lights from showing. The third, top section of the cup is made of what appears to be the same mesh that is used on the band. It is quite stretchy. Some of this stretchy-ness is reigned in by a strip of elastic following the outer line of the cup. This could dig into women with tall roots depending on how the cup happens to fit you. The elastic strip ensures a smooth line between my breast and the cup, even though the cups are in fact too big for me. As you can see in the pictures I have some wrinkling at the top of the cups, mostly on the mesh part. This bra would work very well for women with even full breasts. When I wear this bra under clothes, even tight clothes, the wrinkling is not noticeable. The general shape of this bras cup is full and forgiving. I could see women with a lot of immediate projection not fitting this bra very well. It is a bit shallow at the wire. I think this bit of shallowness is supposed to lift and round the breast, which it does do. No pointy boobies here! And I have breasts that a bit conical with pointy nipples. Depending on how this bra ends up sitting on your breasts, FOT women may not get along well with this bra because of the elastic edging. All in all I think this bra could work for a wide variety of women with the fully encapsulating cups that give just enough lift and shape. I love the color too. Gorgeous.
I have ALWAYS wanted one of these mesh Claudette bras, but I have tall roots so they've always cut in on top when I try them on in stores. Looks super cute on you! I hope you find a perfect Claudette one day. :)
Honestly Slava-Zone , the top mesh section is the only part of this bra that doesn't fit well. Not sure how it would've ended up had they used the same fabric from the rest of the cups. The D probably would've cut into me too. I've come to the realization that there is no "perfect" Claudette for me (I now own a 30D, 30C, and 28DD in Dessous) , and am perfectly happy with this one being a bit too big and the 30D dessous having a band too large and some vertical lines. Still have go review the Dessous "long-line", The Bardot plunge, and the Odette "Long line". I've been pretty lucky finding the last few of this in my size range. Having a much harder time with the Sophia and cool cotton models. Maybe one day!
I'm not sure I've seen a perfect and wrinkle free mesh Claudette on anyone and heaven knows many have tried! They were the hot ticket item in North America when they came out -- most full/fullish bust bra wearers had never even heard of a sheet design in a size they could hope to fit before.
Which is one of the main reasons I can't understand why they went under wendybien ! I hope they'll come back, but I won't get my hopes up. :-(
Well when your product is super cute but most customers find it disappointing in person, you don't get a lot of repeat business and it can be hard to survive. The mesh/sheer bras that everyone got so excited about quickly turned out to fit one of two ways: either the cup was small enough that your boobs filled out the mesh and it didn't wrinkle, but then the edging cut in; or else you sized up and the edging no longer made an indent, but the mesh wrinkled!
At my old measurements(about 36" OB) I hated the fit of these bras but I've always loved the look. I'm closer to a 28DD/28D-30C/30D now and lost a ton of upper tissue, so I think this would work wonderfully now. It's a bit closed on top, so not good for FoT shapes. I'm more even now, but "functionally FoB" due to my shape(tuberous/conical-so thin with lots of center projection).
This size is Unfortunately too large for me now. Wish I'd kept my tan and navy 28E as I recall that being smaller than this one. But yay, I think I can finally wear the Dessous! I just need a 30C ...or 30D. By the amount of wrinkling in this, I'm going to guess the former.
The band on this one is also larger, at about 32" stretched. It kind of hovers on my 28" ribcage. In my experience with this style, the bands have either been pretty tight or super loose(I have another one, same color, 30 band that stretches to 34"). Hopefully Claudette has more true to size bras now that some time has passed.
Would recommend to more FoB,projected, narrow types. The fabric is a little scratchy in my opinion, but not enough to bother me. Would be more annoying to me in a band that was closer to my UB,I think.
Love Claudette has been closed since the end of 2016! :-( I am incredibly sad about this as I love their bras. I now have a fishnet plunge, 28D, Dessous in 30D & 28DD, and two more of the other styles on the way. I'm grabbing them up as quickly as I can. There are some left on Amazon and breakout bras. Her room may have some as well. I know Prettyncharmeuse has a 28E and it's red so it may have a looser band than the black ones. I'll post pictures of my 30D soon, I have everything else about it posted.
LeProfessor omg, I had no idea! That's so sad :( I have some in my cart on Amazon- I'll have to get them now. Ohh, I'll take a look, thanks for letting me know! That's such a bummer that they closed. :,(
Btw, the wrinkles I see in this picture is not really bad for dessous. I see you don't have a lot of inner fullness like I do, so the 30D cuts into my tissue. I get these vertical lines/wrinkles in my 30D but i have taller roots and less outer fullness compared to my inner & center fullness. The cups are filled though! If you have any in your cart from break out bras through Amazon, I suggest grabbing those. Mine was literally here like 4 days after I ordered it!
Hi Queequeg0925 I remember you! I never could get Claudette to work for me at any size... fingers crossed that this is better for you in a lower cup volume!
Thanks for the review, Queequeg0925 . I always read with interest how size changes affect fit changes in beloved makes/models/colorways.
LeProfessor that's good to know :) I have a few in my cart that I'll order ASAP then ^_^ there's a slightly different style that I've had in my cart forever. Think I'll finally order that too haha
@Love4Pollinators Thank you :)
@wendybien I remember you too! :D Thank you! I've always loved the style of these. Keeping my fingers crossed :)
@learningaboutbras you're welcome ^_^ Glad it can be of some help :)
Runs VERY small in the cup and actually (surprisingly) tight in the band. Wires are quite narrow and straps are lovely and thin for summer tops. The edging will cut in to any upper fullness (I probably could have gotten away with it in a bigger size)
I have been looking high and low for a green bra! Call me crazy or superficial or whatever, but green is my favorite color and it's hard to find in most women's clothing... This bra is sheer and very sexy. It's a shape mis-match for me as this would be much better suited to someone who it FoB or even with short roots. I have quite tall roots, so many even shaped bras don't work because of this (I'm looking at you Cleo Lily & clones). The band is tight for a 30, but not tight enough to be ideal for a 28. If I were keeping this bra I wold sew ribbon into the band. Seriously, super disappointed about this bra not fitting! Anyone know of other green bras that are in the 28E/30DD range?
Please please GOD make something my size range in Claudette!!!!!!
LOL! Riiight! I wish they made 28 bands (in more cuts). But for reals, what a pretty bra!
What about getting a pretty white (or other pale color) bra and dying it green? I've heard of people having a lot of luck using RIT to dye bras although they'll have to be washed separately.
I tried that with another bra but with purple dye. It was okay until I washed it a few times, then the dye started getting blotchy and I hated it so much that I gave the bra away. More bras need to come in my favorite colors: green, purple and maroon!
If you wash it in the same soap as wild_muses the band will shrink to 21". :)
Well, animated , I have now tried...seven Claudette bras. Some in more than one size. Dessous, Dessous Long line, Fishnet Plunge, Bardot, Oddette Long line, Cool Cotton, and Paramour. I plan on buying all the models I can in sizes, 28D/DD, 30C/D/DD. As i have loved them all. But generally speaking, Claudettes bands run a full size small. The Odette runs 2 sizes small and only stretches to 26" I have the 30D. They all also seem to run small. So if you can find a 30E, I bet you can fit it if I can fit a 30DD (except Bardot). Good luck! I love Claudette and am hunting them down along with 28D Cleo non-padded bras, lol.
Basically fits. I think the cups are wide enough but the wires are just a bit too narrow for my frame, so by the end of the day they're digging a bit at the sides. I get a tiny bit of bulging in the stretchy top panel, not really enough to call it quadboob but I'm hoping the elastic there will relax a bit with time.
EDIT: after a couple months of wear and breaking in, this has turned into the winner of my collection. The wires have relaxed enough that they don't seem to dig anymore, the cup fits smoothly, and I find myself wanting to reach for it every day but resisting because I want it to last a long time. Will probably acquire one or two more if the opportunity presents itself.
A well fitting bra, aside from the big band (expected), and a tiny bit of fabric wrinkling on the sides (barely noticeable, especially with my Leopard patterned bra). Surprisingly enough, there's slightly more wrinkling on my bigger breast; I believe it's a shape issue.
I've been pretty late in discovering Claudette bras, so the ones I've picked up have been from a liquidator on Amazon/eBay. I've read many reviews bemoaning the inconsistency in this brand, so I knew to expect some fit variation. The two Dessous bras I picked up in 28E and 30DD definitely had this issue. I started off with 30DD, which I determined was most likely my closest size, but also ended up trying 28E as the band on the 30DD I picked up was definitely too big.
The two colors I own are: 30DD New Classic / Elsa Pink 28E Orange Soda / Strawberry
Unfortunately, the result is that ...I ended up with a 30DD that fits well in the cup and with too loose of a band, and a 28E that is too tight in the band and fits rather oddly in the cup. Rather unsurprising as I thought I was between band sizes in this style, but still rather disappointing.
The styling of this bra is sweet and simple, and I can see why they appeal to many. It is a three-piece cup with a double layer bottom cup and single layer mesh upper cup, with relatively short wings. It is a full band design, and the elastic at the bottom of the cradle is nice and wide. Underwire consistency was a big problem here--the 30DD Dessous has a rounded C underwire, similar to Cleo Lucy/Kali, and the 28E has extremely round, half-circle shaped underwires. Another reviewer wrote that one of her underwires looked like they were put in backwards. Now I know what she must have been referring to!
Despite the wires measuring the same on 28E and 30DD, not only were they different shapes, but the cups were strangely different measurements. They are almost the same width, but the 28E is almost 1/2" deeper and has a taller cup. As a result, I could fill out the 30DD perfectly but not the 28E. The bands measure 1.2" difference on the flat, but the 30DD was so loose the band was definitely riding up, and the 28E was so tight I could barely breathe with it fastened. The stretchability of each band is different as well, which is odd since they are made from the same materials. Given the inconsistency though that other reviewers had with their bras, I am pretty sure the 28E wasn't supposed to have cups of that shape and such a rigid band. I still think that 28E would be my best fit, but now I am pretty hesitant to blindly order another color to try as these are not easily returnable.
The last issue is despite the fun, cheerful colors, the bras aren't made from very nice material. The wings are made from a perfectly nice soft mesh, the elastic isn't scratchy, and the cups are lined with a soft tricot, but the exterior of the cups are made from seriously stiff polyamide. This stuff feels a little like fishing net. Although it doesn't have direct contact with skin when worn, it's still rather unpleasant to handle. I wonder why Claudette chose such a material for delicates?
These bras are lovely to look at and fun to collect, but trying to find one that fits properly is playing a game of roulette. You have to go into it knowing you are taking a gamble, I enjoy this bra, but in terms of comfort and fit, I'll stick to my Curvy Kate Lifestyle instead!

28E Revised Comments: Due to an increase in cup size measurement, the band now feels much better thanks to more breast tissue helping to hold the band in place. It isn't perfectly level in the back, but it definitely stays in place much better and doesn't feel too big. Read more 535 more words
I've been pretty late in discovering Claudette bras, so the ones I've picked up have been from a liquidator on Amazon/eBay. I've read many reviews bemoaning the inconsistency in this brand, so I knew to expect some fit variation. The two Dessous bras I picked up in 28E and 30DD definitely had this issue, but I saw the Paloma for a great price and decided to give it a try. Happily, this one worked for me!
As far as I can tell, Dessous and Paloma are pretty much the same fit, just in different materials. They are both a three-piece cup with a double layer ...bottom cup and single layer mesh upper cup, with relatively short wings and J curved wires. The Paloma is made from beautiful satin for the lower cups and cradle, a mesh upper cup, and a mesh band, with full elastic at the top and bottom of the band and cradle. In theory, this construction should be pretty foolproof, but unfortunately the Dessous suffers from quality and consistency problems. This particular colorway of the Paloma, however, is a solid choice.
Most importantly, the band on this Paloma is nice and firm. The same stretch mesh is used in both styles (the kind of mesh used on Cleo Marcie and Lucy wings), but it seems there is a lot of variation between colors and some are flimsy and others are firm. This seems to be a combo of the mesh and elastic, not just one of the materials. My 30DD Paloma and my 30DD New Classic/Elsa Pink Dessous measure the same on the flat, but the Dessous feels too big in the band while Paloma is a pretty good fit. I do have to put this on the tightest hook to get the cups to fit snugly, but I don't feel the band riding up at all.
The shape of the cups fits me pretty well, and I have no issues with it. However, all 3 of the underwires on my three bras look different although they measure the same. My 30DD Paloma has a sharp J hook shape, similar to Freya underwires; the 30DD Dessous has a rounded C underwire, similar to Cleo Lucy/Kali, and the 28E has extremely round, half-circle shaped underwires. Because of this, all of the cups fit a bit differently. The cup separation is also quite different between Paloma and Dessous--the Dessous cups are almost right next to each other, but the Paloma definitely has a noticeably wide center gore. I have no idea why there is so much variation as the cup construction is the same and the measurements are pretty much the same, therefore I believe this is manufacturing inconsistency.
The only part I want to point out is that the upper edge elastic on this bra is slightly tighter than the upper edge on my Dessous bras, so it slightly cuts into my roots. Since I have short, shallow roots this isn't very noticeable, but I could see this becoming more of a problem on tall roots.
Overall, a very nice bra. Claudette bras are lovely if you get one that actually fits as intended, It's a crapshoot, but since they are discontinued, you should be able to find one deeply discounted and give it a try! Read more 454 more words
I love the fabric of this bra, and the color on my makes me feel like I'm wearing a retro bra! Not sure why, it's not pointy & its low coverage cups, but it feels that way to me. No issues with this bra from first try-on. Wore it for the 1st time today and didn't have an issue until hour 4 or 5 when the gore started to hurt a bit. This is always an issue for me, not 100% sure why but I suspect close-set tissue is the cause. Maybe gore too low, or, too far apart?
WRINKLING EVERYWHERE. Totally the wrong shape in so many ways. Band is easy to hook on the tightest hook. Mesh would irritate someone with sensitive skin. The wires are narrow for me and I do not fill out the cup. The top edge is nicely elastic and doesn't cut in and the gore tacks just fine. I feel like gores always tack on me so that's probably not useful information.
Alas. I love the colors the Dessous line comes in but destiny is just not with me.
The wires are really narrow and dig in to my side tissue. It causes bulging on the sides and is uncomfortable. The top edge does not cut in, even though it probably looks that way. If I pull away the top edge (very easy to do as it is simply resting on my skin and not taut) the shape of my breast does not change. But it does tend to wrinkle and shift around as I move.
I think the bottom projection is decent. Enough for me. What do you think?
I love the shape it gives me, which is very close the the natural, braless shape. I will likely try to bend out the wires to improve the fit, but I do not think it will fully solve the problem.
I wanted to try this bra for a couple months before getting a chance to, and was surprised when it fit me pretty well because other 3-part cups I've tried wrinkled horribly along the top. I also usually have a problem with cups being too far apart, but not with this bra. The wires are quite narrow, so I needed to bend them a bit to make them more comfortable, but with that small alteration it fits nicely.
A very pretty bra, but i had to alter the straps because the green mesh was too itchy! The cups are sadly a bit too small for me. It's very beautiful but i wouldn't recommend this bra to anyone.
Longline? hardly lol
