I shouldn't have ordered this in the middle of winter! I've dropped some weight and now the band is too large. Oddly, the 32 was very not stretchy, but this one is true to size. The cup volume seems correct so I'll be going down to a 32F. I find the wires to not be as wide as usual panache. They give great upward lift but they're a little bit tall.
This top is GORGEOUS, but boy does it give me hell wearing it! I have flared ribs and a big tummy and it tends to flip upward. The cups, which have a vertical seam halfcup construction, are quite tall so there's a bit of gap at the top, which gets worse as my boobs settle into it and I have to find somewhere to re-scoop and swoop. The stupid back hook even popped open on me one time, while I was just sitting in the hot tub!
If I see it on sale I would probably replace it with a 34E. 32FF is my normal Cleo size.
This bikini is tiny! The band is really tight - doesn't even reach 28 inches when fully stretched. Cups are a bit too small and not projected enough for me. Shoulder straps are completely adjustable but still not long enough for me (I'm tall and have a long torso). It's a very pretty bra but just doesn't fit me well at all. Since there is also an inner lining to the bra, some of the seams are a bit bulky. I've checked in the mirror and it doesn't seem noticeable but looking down it bothers me slightly. The bottoms to match are also tiny. I sized up to a 12 (I'm usually a 10). They are now wide enough in the hips but still only just high enough to cover my bum crack. Would probably be more suitable for someone a lot shorter than I am.
This bra offers more coverage, but is still quite boobsie. I like that it is versatile and can be worn different ways. Wish it had more projection though. My boobs are forced very high and so there is more cleavage than I'm comfortable with. So far it's the better fitting one of my swim tops but the hunt continues...
As a swimwear, I must say its pretty good. Never worn, but seems to keep everything in place. band is not to tight, cups not too close, will do as a swimsuit and as for sunbathing. I'm always at cleo 32dd/34d where in the rest 32d.
Sadly, this swim top doesn't fit. It's too shallow for me. If I don't scoop and swoop then I'm escaping out the side. If I do scoop and swoop, I'm spilling out of the cups. I think I need a 30F for a better fit. Not sure. I was looking for a swimsuit that fit and while it fits in the band, the cup is too shallow. I'm discovering that I need a depth of 9" at least. For the amount that I go swimming, I'll use this, but I'm going to be on the lookout for a 30F. I also have the matching brief in size small that has never been worn and still has hygienic strip.
This is my favorite bra-sized swim top, but it isn't a perfect fit. The cups run wide and are shallow at the bottom, but have some extra space on top (although the very top edge is more closed). Although it stays up just fine without the straps, I need to tie the halter pretty tight in order to prevent gaping. Even though the cups feel big on me, the 32E didn't provide enough coverage on me.
Also, even though I could only get the band to stretch to just under 32-inches (hence why I purchased a 32-band rather than a 30), note that this top, like a lot ...of swimwear, stretches a great deal when wet. The wires end up floating a bit on me, rather than sitting snugly in my IMF. I wish they could figure out a way to add more rows of hooks to swim top bands so they could be tightened when needed!
Overall, this is a really cute swimsuit and worth wearing, to me, despite the fit issues. The pattern is awesome and the style is very flattering. Read more 75 more words
This top has a subtle minimizer effect. It may be because it's slightly too shallow for me. I get quad-boob toward the middle, probably because the gore is too wide for me. Other than that, the fit is good, with no spillage in the armpits (rare in a halter!) and good flat center gore fit.
The bra feels skimpy but has surprising coverage when on. That said, the fit isn't ideal for me; I have a lot of side spillage unless constantly swooping and scooping.
Pretty fabric and solid construction, but the fit was off for me. The band was uncomfortably tight (and made unflattering back/side rolls, to boot) and the center gore tacked painfully hard. The cups fit well, but I didn't think they did anything particularly amazing for me. I might have considered trying the style in a sister size with a bigger band, but since the overall style was too "bra" for my taste, I think I'll pass. Back it goes!
Fits well, and overall looks very nice. I like the style and the colorway a lot! Please excuse the dorky bottoms I'm wearing in the photos... Back fastener is a swimsuit style non-adjustable clip, not rows of hooks/eyes.
Pretty comfortable and flattering for a bandeau, but I wish they'd included strap attachment points at the back so you could wear the straps crossback as well as halter. The band is firm enough to provide support, but the whole thing feels kind of heavy and makes me fear it would slip down — not saying it *would*, just that I'd be paranoid while wearing it. Also, the firmness of the band creates flesh rolls at my back/sides that I find unappealing, but a looser band would probably not feel very secure.
Cleo, how can you make such great cut and sew bras, but such not-so-great swim tops? I don't know if anyone else has this issue, I am a devoted Cleo bra fan, but the few swim tops I have tried just give poor support and no lift, inluding this one. I took a risk on this swim top on a "no-return" purchase given my experience with Cleo bras. Lesson learned.
Beautiful print. Feels really well made. I was surprised at how sturdy it is.
Unfortunately, the cups are one or two sizes to big. There is a significant amount of gaping at the top and the wings and gore come up too high because of how big it is on me.
The band is between a 30 and 32. It feels great, perfect fit for a bikini as is not to tight but still supportive.
i wear a 28D and am moderately shallow, slightly conical, and slightly wide. i am average set and even.
the bra is fine, but not really my personal preference in terms of design. although amazon prime did not have my size, i ordered the wrong size anyway to find out whether this cut and other related models could work for my shape - it does.
I have wide, even breasts with tallish roots. Here comes the weird part: I normally fit into 30DD/28E Cleo/Cleo Swim tops. The original owner of this set said they thought it ran small in the cups; while waiting on it to arrive, I ended up snagging a really cheap 28E one, thinking I would sell the one that didn't fit. The 28E - Cleo Swimwear » Lucille Padded Bandeau Bikini (CW0063) fit, and I will reproduce the review below in a second. But, this 30E ALSO fits! The band is definitely noticeable looser, but somehow it fits! It doesn't ...seem to be too big! I retook my UB, standing bust, and leaning bust measurements and they are the same as always. I have no idea how this is happening!
Review from the 28E: I have wide, even breasts with tallish roots.
I was worried that this bra would cut into my tall roots and look bad, but it surprisingly does not. On close inspection, I guess there is a very minor bulge, but I consider it to be virtually nonexistent.
From other pictures I've seen, it looked like the underwires were sitting way below the IMF fold due to being very shallow in the bottom of the cup. However, this is just excess fabric on the bottom that makes it appear that way.
The band is very firm. I feel very confident in wearing this as a bandeau by taking off the removable straps. I feel it fits similarly to other Cleo 28Es, though I will also be soon receiving a 30E, so I will be able to compare them.
The bra has one vertical seam in each cup, towards the center, on the outside and inside. The outside seam is covered by the overlapping fabric where the chevrons complete. Read more 202 more words
If someone wants to buy the 30E--which seems to fit like a 30DD(?!)--feel free to offer! I will sell either alone, or as a set if you pester me enough :P
There are multiple different colorways of this top, as it's different each year. I'm not sure which year this is, but the one I'm reviewing has navy stripes and a square-shaped, light blue plastic decoration in the middle.
The band on this one is insanely small. I can't even come close to getting it closed. If the sizing is consistent across all of these, I'm worried that even sizing up to a 32 band wouldn't fit. The cups actually fit just fine though. I have wide, tall roots and most strapless things cut in at the top, but this doesn't appear to.
For comparison, I have Cleo bras, and I wear either a 30 or a 32 band in them, depending on the model (since some Cleos run tight in the band). In the Cleo Maddie, I wear a 30 and a 32 in the Juna or the Neve, and I don't wear my bands super, super tight.
I'm going to have to return this, but I'll be swapping it for a 32E, which will hopefully fit better.
I think the top of the cup works REALLY well with my tall roots. It follows the slope of my breasts, and there is no gapping when standing or leaning over, etc. (there is shadow that seems to contradict that in some of the pictures, but I see no gapping in real life).
The band feels ever-so-slightly looser than the 30DD - Cleo Swimwear » Jecca Padded Bandeau Bikini (CW0105) in the same size, though this could just be because the weight is distributed more evenly as a longline. It doesn't feel LOOSE--I feel very confident about it staying in place even though I normally wear 28 bands--but the Bandeau version seems to run a smidge tighter.
Thank you so much for that profile shot you posted of this! That pretty much sold me on this bra. I didn't know much about this bra and suspected I'd hate the colour but took a risk in buying it simply because of how amazing it looked on you in profile!
I'm a 34J but bought a 36H based off you saying in your listing that the 32H runs like a 32HH (large in the cups) so I hoped a 36H would fit like a 36HH and therefore be a sister size for my 34J's. IT IS! :D I got it today and I love it. The shape is BEAUTIFUL- like EXACTLY what I want from a profile view.
BumbleBean also helped me with picking this bra. She thinks this bra might be based off the Cleo Juna. She noticed you've tried the Juna so thought it might be worth asking you how they compare. Do you find the Cleo Juna similar?
Thanks again for your (unknowing) help with this Rita swim bra! Look forward to hearing how your find the Juna compares :)
Glad it helped you! The Juna is supposed to be basically the same cut as this, and yes they are close to identical. I think the wires on the Juna tilt more toward the underarm, not such a U shape. But I'd say its worth a try!
Hey thanks for the reply :) That's interesting about the Juna. I've been looking at photos of the Juna in profile and it does indeed seem to give a very similar profile to this Rita bra. I love it! But the Juna also only goes up to an H cup like this Rita but I'm not sure if the 36H Juna would fit the same as the 36H Rita I've just gotten. I'd love it if it did!
So did you try a Juna in the same size as the Rita you tried (32H)? If so, did you find any other difference apart from the wires being less U shaped on the Juna? I'm wondering about cup depth mostly because the Rita runs like an entire cup large but the Juna isn't said to.
So did you find the Juna runs a cup large too? I usually need a 34J and the 36H Rita only works for me because it runs large in the cups. If the Juna runs true to size in the cups, a 36H Juna would be too small in the cups for me for sure sadly :(
The band on the Juna is rather stretchy, so if you are sister sizing up, most likely won't work. The Rita runs large in the cups, the Juna does not. I've tried the Juna in 32H, 30H, and 30GG.
Thank you so much :)
Seems the Juna won't work for me then sadly, but I'm glad to know it so I didn't buy one and get disappointed.
