  1. For some reason I can't bring myself to be very excited about the Cleo Lucy. I think the shape it gives my breasts leaves me underwhelmed and it doesn't feel as supportive as a Meg Balconnet or Natasha Balconnet. But I decided to give the Lucy a chance; surely there must be some spot for it in my bra wardrobe. After all, it seems like it technically fits in a 30G, my "default" size.

The color is cheerful and the material definitely seems softer than the aforementioned Cleo bras. The cups are a good width and the wires are the right length for ... me. If the cups were any wider, they would definitely be too wide. At this current width, they do a good job of reigning in my armpit-boob area. The wires come up at the right height in that they don't collide with my armpits. And the gore doesn't come up too high, in fact, it seems just right. In general, it's what I really like about Cleo bras: the length of the underwires and the height of the cups and gore are right in the comfort zone. The top of the cups are open and don't cut in, and the edges are a nice touch.

The Lucy doesn't really bring my boobs up front and center (as much as they CAN be put up front and center lol) like the other Cleos. Perhaps the shape is closer to my natural shape? Nor are my boobs smashed into my armpits.

Is the Lucy comfortable? Well, it passed my sleep test and "can I do push-ups in it?" test, so I would say it's up there, comfort-wise. My only complaint: after a period of time, the elastic on the bottom edge of the band in the back tries to roll up a little. I don't know if it has to do with the band tightness (I like a SNUG band) or if it is the nature of the elastic being so skinny. I should mention that because I like a snug band, and I'm in between band sizes (29 inches), I use the middle hooks.

When I first got the Lucy, there was the tiniest bit of wrinkling at the top of the cups, at least if I hunched over. Wearing it now, there's no wrinkling at the top of the cups, but no quadboob either. Because of the smooth profile, I can wear it under a silk knit dress and there's no tell-tale bra signs, even with the lace.

Overall, this may not be the most thrilling bra, but it does the job. I can always use a decent unpadded bra that doesn't come up to my clavicle or stab me in the chest!

[UPDATE:] After having this bra for a bit and trying other unpadded bras from Kris Line, I've concluded that I can do better, comfort-wise. I think the straps are too wide set, because they kind of dig into the top of my armpits. And then the CUPS -not the wires- cut into my pec muscles, where the cups meet the straps. If I wear the bra for too long, it leaves painful red marks above the armpit region, where my arm meets my shoulder. Another thing I've discovered is that the gore is too wide, because after a while, the edges of the gore dig into breast tissue. It's weird, because I've never thought of myself as having close-set breasts, because they're kind of splayed. But the roots of my breasts are about a finger width apart, and the gore is just a little wider. I didn't pay attention to this until I started wearing bras with a super narrow gore like Ewa Michalak and Kris Line, and realized they are more comfortable there.

    Didn't fit

After having worn this bra in a 34DD, going down a bandsize and up a couple cups has been a godsend. (Truth be told, I think I might even be able to go up up more cupsize but it's certainly not dramatic enough to be a dealbreaker. I only get the merest shadow of quad-boob, and only with my larger breast.)

The shape I get with the Lucy is superior to ANY other bra I have EVER worn. It's perky, perfectly rounded, foward-projecting, nicely defined. Basically anything I could ever ask for in a bra. The balconette style makes for perfect coverage - I'm ... not a big fan of plunges, so I like the height of the center gore but the generally level cut across the top of the cups. My only complaint with this bra is very minor - even though the band fits, I find that the lower edge of the center gore curves inward, leaving me a small pink line across my chest. However, this may just be an issue with my bra specifically, and certainly not a problem with the Cleo line as a whole.

This time around, I went with the navy/pink colorway, which is basically adorable. I really enjoy that it has accenting embroidery, unlike other colorways which have just one color and an accenting bow. The embroidery itself is flat enough that I can wear it with all but the thinnest fabrics - it basically begins to show through around the same point that the seams themselves show. Overall, this is probably one of my favourite bras.

The cups in this bra are definitely too deep for me. I have shallow breasts and I probably should have purchased the 28d, although I'm still not quite sure it would suit my shape. The top lace portion wrinkled and there were slight wrinkles around the cup. I tried doing the scoop method and everything I could to try to fill it, but it just wouldn't fill. It's mainly in the top portion that I am lacking in. It's my first 28 band, so I guess I have to expect some failure while searching for the right bra! Everything else seemed to fit fine and it's a gorgeous bra. It is just too bad because I purchased it from the UK (I am from the US) and would rather not have to pay to return. So, if you are at all hesitant about sizing and you have shallow breasts, go for the smaller size!

    Didn't fit

I wanted to love this bra, but I would just say it is ok. Based on some reviews I sized up a cup and got a 38HH. I think the cups fit well. No cutting in or wrinkling. But, I think my boobs are a little too soft for this bra. The seams sort of pushed into my tissue, so the shape wasn't a smooth, round line. It was very hard to take a picture of this, so I guess it's not too noticeable.

The underwires definitely cut into my armpit area. It was very pokey and uncomfortable. They were too high, but also aren't cushioned at all. The ... band also seemed a little scratchy, but that might soften up with time.

The bra's fabric is very smooth and lovely. I would prefer more color or embellishment, but this is a simple, classy bra. I think my soft, heavy boobs need something more substantial though. I need a stiffer fabric that holds me up better. I did get a pretty decent shape in the Lucy, but I would prefer something with a little more lift. The Lucy definitely was a pretty good fit, but it's just not for me.

I got this bra from another Bratabase member.
It is very pretty yellow bra with no padding.

It doesn´t fit perfectly. The wires are wide enough for me and they are very comfortable but the band is too big and the cups are slightly too small. There is very small quadboob effect. The fit is decent though, if I use the tightest hooks.

I know 28 band would be better, but I wonder which cup it should be then. If I go see others´ Lucy bras Bratabase says that 28F would be too big in the cups for me! How can it be, if 30E is slightly too small?? I ... tried to judge based on measured cup depths, how they vary between 28 band and 30 band. I do not get it...
Anyway, cups are the right shape in this bra for me. I will keep it for it is so pretty, and try to live with these few issues https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

EDIT. I altered the band so that it doesn´t stretch so much, and now it´s good. I also think after wearing the bra that the cups are just fine https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

EDIT2. I realise now that the cups are not the right shape for me, after all. They cut in and produce slight quadboob but if they were bigger, I think there would be gaping where my nipples are.

EDIT3. Boobs gone bigger (!!), cups now definitely too small.

    • Bratabase isn't always right with its suggestions.
I recently bought the yellow Lucy in 28F. If I got more time, in some days maybe, I will submit some pictures :) My mum got it in 30E, which cuts into my breasts slightly... Also, depending on my cycle, I sometimes fit into the 28FF and the again in the 28F. It's all not that easy.

      Great it fits you now!

    • 1

28 F Lucy is more generous in the cups than the 30E. If the 30E is a little small in the cups and a little big in the band, then a 28F would be better. Like it is for me. :)

    • ^
That sounds odd! Do you know if it is so for all the colour variations?
Anyway, I won´t be trying Lucy again, I think the shape is not good for me.

    • I will be measuring mine and putting the colors in my reviews. Right now I am doing the 2 30E Lucy bras. There is definitely a difference.

The shape from the side is nice, round but still natural and uplifted. The band is firm but comfortable. The straps are not fully adjustable, but they work for me. The center gore is a bit too wide for my close set breasts, but I was able to fix this by sewing the center gore together. My only issue is that the wires sometimes dig in under my boobs. I think if the band extended to under my boobs, this wouldn't happen.

I removed 3 inches from the band (1.5 inches on each side at the wings) and this bra now fits!! Please allow for these adjustments on the measurements.

  8. I had to try several versions of the Lucy before I finally found my size at 32HH in this bra, but now that I've found it, I really like it! The wires are a bit wide, so it scoops up everything on the sides, but then is shapes it forward and lifts in to a round profile. I used to wear only molded or padded bras, and more recently started to try to find soft cup bras I like. I have several, but this is by far my favorite so far.

The straps are comfortable, and the bright yellow color is fun and youthful. It's very thin material ... but feels sturdy. If I breathe in deeply and push forward a bit, then I get a tiny amount of quadraboob at the top of the cup because the material is not stretchy, but having tried cup sizes both larger with gaps at the top and smaller when I bubbles out, this is certainly the closest size for me.

(Maybe that's how soft bras are supposed to fit? Mostly fine across the top edge, but slight cut in when you very deeply inhale? My other brand, frequently worn soft cup does this as well, but next size up was also way too big, so I assumed that's how it works.)

I wear it under my dark tank tops and t-shirts and don't really notice the seams, and the lace detailing also hides underclothing neatly.

    ---
    Addendum:
I modified this bra to take in the center gore to put the underwires directly next to each other and rotate the cups in slightly. It fits better in the sternum, though the wires are still a bit tall for me, since my breasts are so close set together. There's still a bit of cutting in across the top when I move, as the lace doesn't stretch at all. (can't take measurements sicne I forgot to take them before I sewed it smaller. D'oh.)

Really pretty bra, but had to return it because the 32J cup was just a bit too big for me, after earlier having tried a 34GG cup and ended up with quad boob across the top for too small of a cup. The top edge of the cup does seem loose enough to work for my full on top shape, and I just need to split the difference and try a 32HH next time.

With the cup being too big, the underwires came very far around my body to on my back, and also very high to poke at the back area of my underarm/back. The smaller size earlier didn't poke me, but was still fairly wide, so it seems like this bra would work well for wide-set shape and needing very high underwires but still not as covering up as a full coverage style.

If your full on top like me, you will probably need to alter the gore to make this work. Also, I'd go down as much as 2 band sizes to get a propper fit as the band i sooo strechy.
