What shape is the Cleo Maya made for? Because whatever it is, I can rule that out for me!
This is probably the first real disappointment I've had since entering the land of bras with proper band sizes. It's also the first time I know my problems aren't just being too small for the cups or something. I've tried one other Cleo at this point (the Lily, also in 28D), so I have a bit of a basis for comparison here. (Strangely, from what I've read, these two bras are supposed to be similar. I can't stand the Maya. When I figure out what the cause is, I'll update.) ... First things first, it feels so constrictive on my ribcage. It makes me vaguely anxious. Comparing it to my Lily bra, which I don't have that issue in, it seems to be just a tad smaller in the band. That said, it doesn't seem as bad if I fasten the band backwards and upside down. (My underbust is roughly 26".) I also felt like I needed to adjust the shoulder straps a lot longer in the Maya, for whatever reason. With the Lily, the little slides are about an inch and a half away from where the straps attach, but in this one, I basically had to lengthen the straps as far as they would go. My shoulders still feel very tense when wearing this bra, although I don't think adjusting more would help that. The placement of the straps is an okay width in that they aren't falling off, but where it attaches to the top of the cup on my left side digs in just a little when I move that arm forward.
As far as the cups go, not just the lace section of the balconnet, but some of the upper part of the printed portion of the cup, is basically empty. It's extremely pronounced on my smaller right breast, but still a big issue with the left. The bottoms of the cups feel full. The underwire seems like it's in the right place; it's definitely wide enough on the outside and nestles just right, but I can't wear this bra long enough to judge the rest of the placement by the impressions left. The gore is wide enough for me, too.
It's cute enough, like basically all of Cleo's offerings, but I liked the stock photos better than what I got. I don't know if it's because this is just a smaller cut, so there's less expanse of fabric for the print to shine, but it's nowhere near as bright and cheery as I'd thought. Kind of murky and dark. The blue is navy, not some fun aqua. It's still nice enough, I'm just a little saddened, although I suppose it lessens the blow of not being wearable for me.
