Oh man, I apologize for taking so long to start these reviews! I'm moving at the end of the month, so things are a little hectic right now. Anyways, I've had the opportunity to wear this bra a couple times now, so let's get into it. Luckily, it's the standard cut, so there's not a whole lot of weirdness going on (we'll save that for my new Basic lol)

About me: 26FF ish, dense tissue, narrow and tall roots, evenly full/functionally FOT.

PS!! Click on the link for this bra's info for all my pictures.

I believe this is the standard cut of Scottie in 55J. Four rows of hooks which ... is nice. It's a tad snug, as you can see by the measurements, but is relatively comfortable after a couple hours' wear. The band is at risk of becoming too tight after several hours, depending on my activity level. If I'm sitting on the couch all day, it's uncomfortable, but if I'm up and moving around, it's fine. The wires are a great width and the gore is a good width and height for me. The cups are a perfect volume, although the padding/fabric is a little thicker and stiffer than my other Comexims, so it gives a slightly more peaked appearance than my others (excluding my new Basic lol). I'm almost positive the shape will soften up over time. I mentioned this to marilynne today, but we have a hunch that the newer Comexim styles are cut slightly different than the old-school styles. I definitely feel like my Scottie is more balconette-style than true plunge style like my old Basic. The newer ones seem to have a slightly higher gore and a straighter neckline than my old Basic.

The briefs: Size Small. I suppose they're similar to like a boyshort cut, but a bit less coverage. My butt is definitely bottom-heavy, and the elastic cuts right through the middle of my cheeks, horizontally. It's an awful look lmao. The size is right, but not the shape. I'm keeping them because I aspire to someday make them into a thong style, which I've never done before, but even if I mess them up it's no worse than the state they're in right now. So yeah!

TL;DR: Band is a little snug, cups fit well, a tad pointy, feels more like a balconette than a true plunge. The briefs are cut like boyshorts, which doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the review! I'm really wondering why they changed the cuts. I LOVE my "vintage" plunges, I'll be so sad when they wear out and I can't replace them 😢.
I'm sorry the bottoms didn't work :(. I have a bottom-heavy butt too, I've ordered all of my comexim bottoms as thongs and they work like a champ. Good luck altering the bottons into a thong!

This bra seems to be popular here lately, lol! I adore my Scottie. It's starting to pile a little bit after a year of occassional wear, but nothing that a clothes shaver can't save.

I wonder if the difference you're perceiving is that they have been doing a classic plunge instead of their deep plunge. They used to differentiate in their listings between the regular plunge vs deep plunge. The deep plunge was definitely plungy-er in the past compared to this.

Anyways, it looks great on you! Too bad the bottoms cut in, but good luck converting them!

I think this may be the kind of deep plunge line I was thinking of: https://www.bratabase.com/browse/comexim/ginger-plunge-bra-365/

...although most of the plunges I just looked at had the same rough gore height of 2.7-2.9 in that size range, so maybe I'm dreaming...

Wilderness1 You're totally right in that the Ginger is the "deep plunge" cut, but the deep plunges also tend to run shallower (see also the Rita, which comes standard as a deep plunge). Apparently I'm losing my marbles because I just double checked and the gore height on my old Basic (which feels more "plungey") and my Scottie are identical at 2.8". BUT, I just checked the cup height, and in the middle of the cups on each, my old Basic is 0.5" taller than my Scottie, and 0.6" taller than my Yellow Birds! So perhaps it's that the cup height on the standard cut has been lowered, which is giving me the "balconette" vibes on this. Iiiiiiinteresting findings here.

I think that this one looks great on you! I think that Comexim plunges have always been a little more balconette style except for the deep plunge styles, but I did notice that the cup height of my Scottie and Queen of Hearts are lower than the Jade was. None of them had cup modifications. My Ingrid has a lot of modifications and my Hot Chocolate has added depth (and lower gore) so between the two, I have no idea how much of the cup height is affected. My Anna Pardal definitely has alterations as it’s a Sophisticate Balconette cut which actually looks more like a plunge. Funny how the Sophisticate Balconette looks like a plunge and the classic plunge looks like a balconette.

      Definitely food for thought though.

sherrach898 Ive just ordered a Comexim Rita and after reading your comment about it coming up shallow, I feel a lot less confident about ordering it now lol 😅 Oops.

    • 2

I'm so sorry Rozelyna! I ordered a rita too and it was atrociously shallow. The pictures should be in my bradrobe if you'd like to see the fit on me. I was about a 28G at the time and ordered a 60K, so a bit smaller than you. I'm narrow, projected, center full and FOT. It was slightly minimizing, I had a bit of quadding along the cup's edge and the wires were a good inch below my IMF.

I have the new Dalia which according to Joanne (and confirmed when I received it) is a lower gore style. I love it. It doesn't fit too differently than the regular plunge except that the gore is lower and there is a bit more cleavage. According to Joanne, the Suzanne is the same low gore style.

You could cite these models if you're looking for lower gores marilynne ?

This looks so good on you sherrach898 !! So many Scottie adventures lately tempting me to order one! It's been on my wishlist forever. I'm thinking I might try it in a 3HC....

    • 2

marilynne I think I’m going to have the same issue as you did, with it being pushed below my IMF. I really need a lot of immediate projection! I really wish I’d searched the Rita up on here and seen your review/pictures before I ordered it (especially because I made sure to check all the other bras I considered ordering!). I would’ve asked for an extra 2cm depth at the bottom wire. I must’ve just been blinded by its prettiness lol.

    • 2

@rozeylena It happens to the best of us, lol. But they hardly ever actually add depth to the bottom wire, I asked them to add 2cm and they didn't, it seems like they stopped doing the harder alterations that require the material to be cut differently (straps moved in, depth added, reduced cup height).
