TL; DR — This is a great bra once you get the sizing figured out! Go down one band and up about 3 cups, and you’ll get a flattering, rounded shape. The gray and pink are beautiful as well. ———————-
Onyks is a really pretty bra! The band and strap color is a medium-dark gray, and the cups are gray combined with pink in the mesh and embroidery, as well as white embroidery. The mesh and embroidery are not very thick or stiff, and I haven’t noticed issues with visibility underneath clothing.
The fabric is lightweight, but the seaming provides good support and uplift. The band is very stretchy. The ...overall shape of the wire is very similar to Ewa Michalak BM bras, but those are firm and run small in the band, whereas this one runs big. If you have a narrow, projected shape and find the BM wires or band to be too firm, then the Onyks might be a good bra to try. I like both styles, but the Onyks has a more lightweight feel to its fabrics, elastics, and wires than the BM. Onyks does not have stretch lace on top of the cup so keep that in mind when deciding what size to buy.
As with most people trying Comexim, I’ve tried a few styles and sizes. When buying from Breakout Bras in the US, they convert to UK sizing and then suggest that you buy 1-2 cups larger than your normal size. With my 34GG - Comexim » Whimsy Floral (CMWHIMSY), that worked well, but I’ve noticed that at certain times of the month, I get quadding on the larger side. So I wanted to try one cup larger (UK 34H / Comexim 75K) this time. Additionally, BoB’s website advises that the band on the Onyks bra is very stretchy, and they recommend sizing down in the band. So I ended up ordering this bra in 32HH (which Bratabase converted to 70L). If I were to order this bra directly from Comexim, I would probably stick with 70L and ask to have the straps moved in just a hair, maybe 1.5 cm.
Definitely a good bra to try if you are the right shape and want to try a 3HC without the padding. Read more 275 more words
Great, I ordered this bra like 3 days before your post (from Breakout Bras)
I actually went down one band size, but now I'm thinking I didn't go up enough cups, haha, we'll see.
Looks great on you though!
I love this bra! I have been eyeing it for a long time but I am worried about the sizing. I have an exchange to do a BB and I think I’ll exchange for this! Thanks for reviewing!
BraOdyssey, I hope it works out for you! Comexim sizing can be so tricky. And thanks for the compliment!
damaries, you’re welcome. I hope it works for you as well.
This really looks like an Art Déco sister-style of @70K Comexim Yoko plunge! My regular Comexim size (70K) was not available, and I had previously been wondering whether to size up to 70L in Comexims. So I tried that, and despite some minor issues it seems to have worked out well!
FYI, *edit: at least for my size*; the conversion BreakOutBras uses basically means that their listed 'US size' is the Comexim direct order size. So in this case, UK 32HH - US 32L means Comexim 70L.
Edit: *because this is unaltered, the strap placement does bother me*. Ideally I would do some sewing and move in the straps, we'll ...see - for they are currently too far apart for a day's wear / comfort. One thing that's interesting about the fit: the immediate projection is still insufficient, despite sizing up. So I'm thinking in Comexim plunges I definitely need added projection at the wire? It's wearable like this for sure, but could be better.
I really do like this bra's aesthetics! Some Comexims just speak to me and this one was definitely on the shortlist. Sadly this Piume Blue had been sold out for a while at Comexim's - which is why I did cave and ordered this one from BoB, despite already owning Yoko that looks somewhat similar. On the plus side, my bra size has remained pretty stable over the years, so I'm hoping that luck will last for a while longer (hmm o_0 - don't jinx it!?) and I've found that having a larger rotation also helps to keep my bras in great shape for longer!

no, I feel the same way. It's always a toss up, I think to myself, "do I order more to keep the bras I have now in good shape?" Lol.
But it's so true, the more bras one owns, the longer they stay in a good condition.
bubblegum , the only exception is, US I = Comexim HH, since comexim doesn't use I (but doesn't skip letters - like I guess Ewa skips O and goes directly to P, because O would look like zero. Maybe Comexim thought letter I looks like one...)
so, isn't Breakout Bras skipping cups here and there? It's not a 1:1 ratio of UK cup sizes to EU cup sizes. Should I email Breakout Bras my burning question? Lol.
Oohhh this looks great on you! And it totally has that Art Deco artistic appeal to it. It looks way better in your pics than the stock photos on the model. Love it!
I've been wanting this bra so bad! I have the red version in a wrong size but the blue is just something else! So happy for you/jealous you have this :') It looks great on you :)
I emailed them about their Snake bra a while ago (sadly missed out; sold out in my size) and they then mentioned they could make me a Piume Blue!
Decided on ordering through Breakoutbras in the end, because of the Treasure bikini deal, but they *may* still have some fabric left to make you one!?
bubblegum ooh I really can't justify buying new bras right after I've got some but hopefully, they'll still be magically available. If not, that's okay too. They just have such beautiful bras, like Megan and Emotion (I reallyyy want Emotion). I should stop tempting myself by looking at comexim bras 😂
Oh wow: just looked it up and Emotion is a very original design indeed! Super fancy with those wider straps!
I've been very curious (if a little hesitant?) about unlined Comexims.
But yes, let's practice some restraint and just not look haha! Sorry for enabling ;)
I always get somewhat confused when I look at all those size charts too long haha - especially when taking into account that UK cup 'jumps' count a 1" (2.54 cm.) increase, while EU cup jumps calculate a 2cm. increase?
So I was just happy when I figured out that (at least for my size) BreakoutBras 'US size' corresponds with Comexim direct-order size; not 100% sure about the underlying math for all sizes!
Thanks for pointing that out - and yes, ask if they can explain/elaborate?
I only have experience with one unlined comexim (Karina plunge) and it's the best unlined bra I currently own. The band is much more supple, almost looser than the normal padded bras so, I'd want to go down a band size but I just really like a very snug band. You can ask the unlined bras to be made into a 3hc, instead of a plunge, if that's what you want (I really want that). I got mine second hand and the alteration was done for reduced cups but even then, I think it expected my nipples to be higher even though the cup depth was okay because the cups were too tall for me but if you're okay with their normal plunges, height shouldn't be an issue. The top has a bit of stretch elastic kinda, it's fairly open at the top. Material feels good, not too delicate bit not too rough or whatever. It gives a very nice shape. I have pointy/conical boobs but it really gave a natural almost round shape. Straps are ridiculously wide (for me) but I've heard that about the plunges in general. Hmm, that's all I can think of right now but this is just my experience with one unlined bra and I have smaller breasts so, I can't know what they'd be like for larger breasts. You should definitely try them tho! Ahem, obviously not now but maybe next time 👀😂
bubblegum , I think that your explanation does make sense for a bunch of letter though.
MeeM_13 thanks for that info, helpful for sure! But you're right, let's hold off for now ;)
@BraOdyssey ah good, I wouldn't wanna create confusion!
So while it's mid-summer, a belated review for my (heavily discounted) Comexim bikini via BreakOutBras! Got it in early May, but only remembered to review it when I first wore it out to swim recently. There's still quite a few sizes available, $18 for the top and $8 for the bottoms.
It is a final sale item; so kind of a gamble, but I actually really like this bikini! The fit is firm, well-contained and yet comfortable, the cups are kind of stretchy (despite being lined), so they conform well to the breast shape.
My regular Comexim size (70K) was not available, and I had previously been wondering whether to size up ...to 70L in Comexims. So I tried that, both for this bikini and the 70L - Comexim » Piume Blu (CMPIUMEB), and it seems to have worked out well!
FYI, *edit: at least for my size*; the conversion BreakOutBras uses basically means that their listed 'US size' is the Comexim direct order size. So in this case, UK 32HH - US 32L means Comexim 70L.
Despite this being unaltered, the strap placement doesn't bother me as much as I feared. The gore is too high for me though, and kind of pokes into breast tissue. It sort of tilts/flips between my cleavage, which is a common fit issue for me. However, that would bother me more if it was a bra intended for daily wear, rather than a bikini.
The straps are pretty wide, which I like: they're 2 cm. and quite chunky. The underband measures kind of short unstretched, but has a LOT of give. Cups are deep and narrow-ish, but not too rigid; so they don't poke too badly on the sides.
Hmm what else... Oh right: the matching briefs are cute too, I got the high-waisted in L and the shorts in XL - which was a case of availability but turned out to be a great choice. Be aware though that the high waist briefs are very full-coverage in the back! Might be a plus or downside, depending on your preference. For reference, my butt/hips measure 43/44 inch / 110 cm. and my waist is 31/32-ish.
All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase! It feels like good quality swimwear that should last, though I've currently only used it once. Almost tempted to also try the Showcase, but I don't really need it.. Unless I start a daily swimming schedule haha.
Also, this bikini + Piume Blue were a good 'diagnostic' to confirm my suspicion that for Comexim I'm kind of in-between 70K and 70L - especially when ordered directly (with my preferred alteration of straps moved in), in plunges I'd either need a 70K with added projection, or a 70L. And *definitely* a 70L (or up) in 3HC styles! My 70K Wildcat and Miss Bee-have are definitely toooo small. Read more 362 more words
Awesome, glad it worked out for you. It’s a great colour and looks like it fits well! I think BOB sold out of them now, I couldn’t find any. Ah well. I probably didn’t need to buy it anyway lol
margesimpson thanks! And weird - I actually checked today when I wrote the review?
I did do an active search ('Comexim bikini') rather than browse through their stuff, maybe that makes a difference?
bubblegum oh thanks for linking! It’s weird when I look under comexims it’s not there and when I looked under swimsuits it’s not there. They must just have it under sale LOL
Loooovvveee iiitttt! This is by far the best bikini I’ve ever had, and it looks great on you! If you’re having tiny fit issues, they definitely don’t show. Love how It holds up well in the water. I also got mine on clearance, what a savings! I just wish I could have gotten the top in the aqua color, but they were out of my size.
Yesss Happy2BraShop it's such an excellent and affordable bikini!! Hope you'll enjoy it for many many swims to come!
Likewise; I was (ok, still secretly am..) so tempted to buy multiple colors in whatever available sister-sizes! Especially Peacock.
I actually just investigated my way into the Peacock swim bottoms (that are sold out through Breakoutbras) - they're available directly through Comexim; but they're misspelled Paecock! So tempting... So unnecessary... But such a great product!
This was my first bra that actually fit me well. I love the narrow wires and narrow, projected cups. I love the support of a bra with a 3 hook closure, and this is the first one I've found that doesn't have cups that rub my armpits raw. Even though it is an unlined bra, it gives a very nice shape and look under my clothes, even in thin tops. But then again, even at work I'm not too concerned about my nipples showing through my clothes. The only thing that I've found is that after a couple months of wear the band has stretched out to the point of it riding up my back even on the loosest hooks. It really is a bummer, I love this bra.
Lovely lace fabric, secure band and narrow wires. I've never gotten a Comexim bra before, though, and I wasn't sure if it would fit. I couldn't tell on the website if it would have stretchy fabric (which is what I was hoping for in a nursing bra), but it does not. I'm normally a 30J or a 70J in Panache or Ewa, so I tried a 70L--their largest cup size--in this model, but alas it was way too small--probably more like a 30H or even a 30GG. For nursing bras, it looks like I'm going to have to splurge and get an Ewa, or order a Kris Line one from Ebay that may or may not fit. So much for finding a bargain-priced nursing bra above an H!
I think Comexim can custom make up to a size O if you just ask them. The best part is that it is supposed to be free also, so if I were you I would give it a shot.
It is a lovely bra though ,too bad it didn't work out . Helpful to me that you added it as I have been trying to find my comexim size seeing this one is much smaller than what I already own . Maybe you can do a nursing clip alteration? To a bra that fits . I had pretty good luck with just taking breast out of the top of a regular bra when nursing lol not the only bonus to pendulous breasts when nursing .
My bra was ordered with special requests: (1) reduced cup height (shorter cups) and (2) higher gore. The gore did not end up being as high as I normally like, unfortunately, so I do spill out of it when worn for an extended period of time. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
I previously had this bra in 75L - Comexim » Tropical Garden (191) , but I have recently lost some weight (and some boob volume.) Tropical Garden has been one of my all-time favorite bras aesthetically, so when my other one became too large, I immediately ordered this one in a smaller size. ...I knew it was an older style, so I didn't want to risk not ever having it again! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
This (and all Comexim plunges) are great if you need narrow wires, deep cups, and shorter underwires on the sides (seriously, this bra does not stab me in the underarms at all.) The strap placement is also very comfortable as well. The shape is very uplifted, front-and-center, and naturally rounded, plus it makes my soft, FoB boobs look great, which is no simple feat. Just want to clarify -- you had the gore raised by nine centimeters? I've had issues with raised gores and lowered cup heights, similar to what you listed in your review here: http://www.bratabase.com/bra/dlet5/
My assumption was to do away with the alterations altogether, but maybe the solution is even more of an alteration?
No, I requested my gore to measure 9 cm total, which is higher than their standard gore.
The combo of alterations that I request now works quite well for me (reduced cup height, gore height between 9-10 cm, and always 3x3 hooks.) I have lost some weight since I wrote the reviews for the 75M bras, so even though I could never get the formula right at that size, thankfully I've figured it out at my new size. I've also accepted that Comexim bras will never give me the "boobs of steel" feeling of support, so I only wear them on weekends or evenings when I'm less active. I think I was trying to achieve that feeling originally when I was trying to get the gore super high. I just wear other bras when I need more support (like my EM S bras or Panache Sport, even.) Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your feedback! My boobs are kind of all over the place right now, with some weight gain, tissue migration, and absolute inability to stop growing, so what initially worked for me with Comexim no longer does. I'm in the process now of placing an order with Anna again, and hopefully this time will be more successful. I'm going for a couple different sizes and no alterations (other than the 3 hook fastening, of course!), and keeping my boobs crossed. Thanks, again, and congrats on your weight loss -- assuming it's something for which you strove to accomplish.
Thanks! Yes, I have been working hard to get my weight down. Still have a bit more to go. :) Good luck! I hope your next set of bras is a success.
A pretty balconette style. The bra is well-made and comfortable and gives a very pretty rounded front-and-center shape. The cups are small in this model, however, hence the need to go this much up to get a good fit (I normally wear H-J). Reasonably priced and has a nice, lime-green colour.
Edit: I've had this bra for almost a year now and I'm afraid its straps don't age well. After each wash it's fine, but in the evening there's a noticiable loosening of the strap tension, and it's not about the strap locks slipping, it's more like the elastic material in them would tire out. Sad, since the cups and the band are holding up quite nicely. *** Edit 2: The band has also suddenly loosened up to the point where the center gore just doesn't stay in place. I've definitely moved up a cup size, too (32H => 32HH), so the added breast tissue adds to the loose band problem. I can't use this bra anymore.
This is such a pretty bra, and I’m so sad that it doesn’t fit!
This is one of my first Comexim bras. I say “one of my first” because my first was one that was way too big for me and I didn’t even add measurements or pictures to my account.
Greta is your typical padded plunge from Comexim: narrow wires, low gore, projection. It is SOOOO comfortable! Unfortunately, not a match for me. This bra gathers up my really soft boobs and brings them all bubbling up to the front and put it the cups while still gaping at the top like it’s too big. It’s somehow simultaneously too big and too small, which is telling me that it’s a shape mismatch.
I’m really impressed by the overall look and quality of the bra. It’s so delicate looking! I really wish it fit. I’m not sure if it’s worth trying a different size or just assuming that Comexim padded plunges are a shape mismatch for me and looking for something elsewhere.
The bra is absolutely gorgeous, however I have some fit issues. I’m normally a 32GG (UK) and ordered a 32HH Comexim Piume Notte from break out bras (they recommend going up two cup sizes). I’m having some gaping issues due to my breast asymmetry and I’m worried about ordering one cup size down since it fits my larger breast perfectly. When I bend over, slouch, or lay down the bra has gaps. The other problem is it cuts into my armpit (which you can see in some pictures) and leaves painful marks there if I wear it for a long time. I may order one cup size down, or up in the band and one cup size down.
I absolutely love this bra, it's my favorite one that I own. The wires are pretty thin but they're strong enough to support me (my breasts are self supporting anyways). The cups are narrow and projected, and I figured out with this bra that I do have to adjust the straps a bit tight each time I wear it, since I have narrow shoulders. At first, the sides of the cups did rub a bit into my armpits, but I believe that it has since formed to my shape a bit more since I no longer feel the sensation.
This bra is great quality all-around, and I would keep it but for the fact that 1) the band is just too tight on me (prego!) without an extender, cutting into my side chub and the cups cut a bit into the far sides of my boobs and I don't love that, and 2) the cut of the plunge is just too low for my comfort... Oh, and the gore isn't tacking for me :-/
It's really very comfy and the softness of the inside of the cups is great. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a basic bra with great projection. It seems well-suited for FOB breasts. It's just not a perfect cut for me! I need a full-cup bra for my soft-tissue, pendulous breasts. =)
Too projected for me! If the cups were reduced a bit, it might work. Too much open space up top. Half-cups and balconettes are just not for me. It's suuuuch a beautiful bra and how I wish it worked, but alas.
I find the band to be less than comfortable, but I have pretty sensitive skin and a lot of chub on that sensitive skin for the bra to dig into. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />

The only real downfall of this particular style is that the straps are very, very stretchy. I will probably have to eventually shorten the straps when I run out of room to adjust them shorter because of this. If I ever order this bra again, I will request a different strap material (maybe the straps used on my 75K - Comexim » Ingrid Biustonosz (289) since the texture helps keeps the straps from slipping.) That bra is gorgeous!
