Cottonique markets their products to people with allergies and sensitivities. The bras are made from 100% organic cotton interlock fabric, have no elastic, and fasten with drawstrings and buttons. I'm always looking for comfortable non-wired cotton bras and I was interested in the design, so when this one came up on eBay for a few pounds, I thought it was worth a try.
I love how soft and thick the fabric is, but there's something awkward about the side fastening and it’s impossible to tighten the band without leaving the end of the drawstring sticking out in front. The fit is also way, way off. For reference, I normally ... fit a 28D. From the Cottonique size guide:
"Size 4
Bust (in.) 30-31
Underbust 25-26”
Those are pretty much my exact measurements, and… well, when I put it on, the band immediately rode up between my shoulderblades and barely touched my ribs in the front. It felt like a 34 band on me, although it wouldn’t fit someone who actually needed a 34 as there is almost no stretch in the band. It's hard to judge the fit of the cups, but although this style is described as “designed specifically for A and B cup sizes”, they feel slightly roomy on me. I measured the cup width at 17cm and the depth at roughly 18cm.
I'm going to try removing the drawstring, replacing it with elastic and sewing up the opening in the side of the band to see if I can make this work as a pull-on style. It feels like it has the potential to be comfortable, but the band is so loose that it's hard to say. In the meantime, if you're looking for an organic cotton bra (and can wear elastic), I'd recommend Decent Exposures .
