I love this bra, it's so freaking cute! I'm not a fan of the super wide band or straps that no 28G would ever need, but other than that this is an adorable set. It reminds me of a Katy Perry music video. It's a bit too wide and shallow for me, but it still fits well. I get crazy cakes on a plate due to the shape. I will be keeping this set for a long time to come.
I've been eagerly awaiting this bra since I saw it was coming out. Curvy Kate are one of my favourite brands and I'm so pleased that they've finally released something new in 28 bands! I can't remember the last time I wore a bra with a gore this low but still felt supported and didn't fall out - it is incredible. The cups are foam lined but not padded, yet still give an amazing deep cleavage and rounded, lifted shape. The band is very snug fitting, almost painful the first time I wore it, but it eased up after a wash and a couple more wears and now ...fits comfortably firm. The depth and width of the cups feels great, the only downside is that they don't seem to have enough projection for me in the very bottom of the cup and I find the wires slip down a little during the day, most noticeably when I've been hunched over my desk all day at work - not so much when I've been walking around most of the day. Overall I'm thrilled to be able to wear ultra-deep v-necks and get great shape in them without a bra peeking over the neckline! Read more 94 more words
This is one that customer service mentioned to me and I was skeptical about it having enough immediate depth for my pendulous breasts. Thanks for adding the comments that it is not as projected as you need/like.
Thanks for the review, thelingerieprincess . I just ordered one of these. I'm more FoT to even.
Well, this is labeled a 28 and obviously CK doesn't sell 26s (and not that many 28s either), but it measures to a pretty TTS 26. I'm not sure if it's the same in all colors or just this funky neon green, but this bra might be a great find for someone who really needs 26s but doesn't want the expense of going Polish or custom. It's actually VERY tight on me and I'm not sure if I'll keep it, but if it stretches out it'll probably be fine. It also definitely runs a full cup size small.
My review of my previous attempt at this bra (in 28FF) ...talks about the design a lot, but again: I love the detail of part of the band being mesh and the button on the gore also having little polka dots. This green isn't as neon as it could be since it's kind of pastel, but it certainly is bright and will show under shirts. I really enjoy the wider straps, which are very comfy. The cups are very closed on top -- I have even vertical fullness and the cup cut into my larger side just a little, so I'd stay away if you're FOT.
If the band wasn't so tight, I think I'd really love this bra. It's fun with unique details and gives a lifted appearance. Tricky sizing though! Read more 121 more words
I'm searching for a decent fitting, inexpensive nude with great projection while I wait for a 65J Comexim Elena two seam half cup.
This bra has not only great lift, but also a surprising amount of immediate projection. Short-rooted twins rejoice: the cup will not swallow you or present an open field near the strap. If, however, you are full on top and/or have tall roots, I can nearly guarantee quad boob. Even my short-pair quads a bit.
The band is shorter than what I expected; stretching to 27". Great for those of us who need sub 28" bands.
The seams show. Full stop. I'm recovering from "seam aversion."
If you have both close-set and center-full breasts, this is an unlikely fit. The gore wires are simply too wide at the base. Nonetheless, it may be worth trying if you can easily return it.
FWIW, this isn't a true molded cup. It's a cut and sew foam cup, evidenced by the 3 part design and the seaming pattern. Truly molded cups are one piece foam cups (think VS, the Deco...) and aren't very projected because one piece of heat molded foam simply cannot do what a seamed pattern does for projection and uplift.
Good point. The foam is stiff like a molded. I will ammend my review. Thanks!
Love4Pollinators (and anyone else who might happen to read this), I was wondering if you could help me decide which size to order for this bra. It's on sale on Amazon for $20, but through an independent seller, so I won't be able to return it. I normally wear 28F but the cup depth seems to be small in this model, according to the measurements on Bratabase. There is only one entry for this size, though. I have a 9" breast perimeter, but my breasts are very soft and I usually do best with a cup depth of about 8.5ish. My measurements are 25" and 33/33.5/35". I wear 28F in Cleo and Panache (and sometimes 28E in unlined models), 60H and 60HH in Comexim and 60F and 60FF in Ewa M. Thank you!! :)
Just saw this comment. Hope you found a size that worked for you, Sonya
Ahhh, Curvy Kate....always just SO CLOSE to fitting but not quite there. I do love the looks of this bra, and am in love with red colorway with the subtle leopard print. And the cute crystal charm at the gore. I'm such a girlie girl, and the more "bling" and glam on a bra the better! Lol!
Unfortunately, the wires on this are just a bit too wide for me, and there doesn't seem to be enough immediate projection at the base of the cup (getting a bit of orange in a glass on both sides). The wires come out and around pretty far under my arms. And ...I'm getting some slight quad boob. But, as always, I LOVE that there are 3 rows of hooks on CK bras! Very supportive and sturdy, well-constructed. Surprisingly, the gore is rather comfy for my close-set girls. And this bra gives them an amazing shape under a shirt!! I had similar fit issues with the Entice, but I had that in a 28GG. The 28G seems to fit better, oddly enough, but the Smoothie gives a much nicer shape on me. It's totally wearable, and you can't see any of the fit issues with a shirt on (maybe a little of the quad boob). But I get a great uplifted, rounded shape. I just wish the wires were a bit more narrow with a little more depth. Read more 127 more words
*This review is for the blue/ivory version of this bra* The cut of this bra are actually quite similar to a 32DD I have in another brand, though this one has slightly deeper cups. The 32DD seems to be better scaled to a petite frame in general though. This “tease me” was a complete tease, as the fit is not so great on me: PROS: *It has three hooks, which is very comfortable.. *The straps are fully adjustable. This is great for petite/high set ladies, such as myself. *The construction of the cups with the shallow bottom creates great uplift for the oft-described “cakes on a plate” cleavage. *It’s just cute. ... CONS: *The band is huge. I’ve read that this band runs large, so it was not entirely surprising, but I was won over by the bra’s cuteness and all cares of actual band fit were temporarily forgotten. When I put it on I went straight for the tightest hook and still didn’t feel I was getting much support. A smaller band size would be great, if such were an option. It’s not just that it’s a little bigger, it’s bigger because it’s pretty stretchy, so I think the stretchiness in addition to it being large makes it feel less secure. I’ve had 32 bands that technically measure larger but feel more firm and secure. This is definitely something to remember, especially if you are a sub-28 band size. *The straps at the front are way too far apart. They cut in at my armpit crease, leading to very minimal support/uplift. This looks like a common complaint, and I’m guessing perhaps since the band seems to run so large the whole thing is scaled for people a little bigger around. I think the fit and look of most of my bras would be improved if I could move the straps closer together, though, so this might just be me. *The center gore on this is fairly high on me. Even though the wires are really pretty close together, they are still sitting on breast tissue. I don’t believe this is an issue of the cups being too small though, as I have a small amount of extra space on the outer sides. If I could move the cups to about one wire-width apart it would be better. I generally think plunge bras would probably work best for me most of the time, so again this might just be me. *The shallow cup bottoms definitely pick me up, but I actually don’t get the “cakes on a plate cleavage” unless I move the front straps forward. The straps are far enough out that, when paired with the huge back band, I’m not getting much, if any, uplift. I tried folding and pinning the straps in the front about an inch inward, and this seemed to help the fit tremendously. (I had a similar problem with the Freya Deco strapless when I attempt to use the widest adjustable strap setting, and it’s corrected by using the closer one.) When I do this I definitely get the amazing pushed up effect, but I also get a flattened stripe across my nipple line, creating a weird square profile. I again don’t think this is an issue of the cups being too small; I think I would drown in a larger size. Overall, I think trying different sizes in a smaller band size (if they existed) would be more useful and look much better once I found the cup size I need from that. This size as it is now does not work very well for me. This bra is really cute (especially for the price – on sale at brastop), and I think rather than mess around with returning it (international shipping for me), I’ll see if I can tailor it a bit to make it workable.
Thanks for posting such a detailed and thoughtful review. I love the look of this bra, it looks so cute but, I think i would have the same issue with the gore and think it would be too shallow, as other Curvy Kate bras have been.
I tried this on in a shop so don't have measurements or photos, but think it actually fitted. Went up one cup size from usual 28ff, and at first though 28g was still a bit small, but I think it is just because I am not used to this much cleavage, but i wasn't really falling out of it and wasn't quad boob, just quite a low cut bra. Inspite of being very low and creating lots of cleavage it still felt really comfy and supportive. However, having finally found something that fits, the style is just so not me! I am quite a conservative person, so just don't think red and leopard print plunge is really something i could wear! Was very compfy bra though, and for others wanting something sexy but still supportive and stylish (not completely trashy!) I would recommend it.
I was really hoping this bra would be the answer to all my frustrations! I had heard that this was on the small side and as I am finding most of my 28ffs seem a bit too small, thought therefore 28g in this might be perfect. But unfortunately not. Whilst the 28ff was definetely too small, the 28g wasn't right either. It was too high under my arms and I wasn't filling out the top of the cups properly (which is often the case for me - maybe because I am short???). Also the shape was a bit funny. In the 28ff ...the shape is really lifted and round (although it didn't fit) but in the 28g I felt my breasts were sitting too low and I had to make the strap really tight to lift them high enough which became a bit uncomfortable. (so far all the Curvy Kate and Flirtelle styles I have tried seem to be similar fit for me - i.e. they don't seem right! - which is unfortunate as they make really pretty styles and there bands are perfect for me) Read more 85 more words
This is a simple black satin plunge bra. It looks very sexy but it's great for everyday wear too.
The band sizing is more comparable to non-padded Curvy Kate bras than to the Showgirl range, which is good for me as the Showgirl bras I always find too loose. The band on this is just right on the loosest hook. I usually have to size up with plunge bras, and this one is no exception. The G cup (instead of my usual FF) is a nice fit, comfortably encasing my boobs and pushing them together for a bit of cleavage. The only problem with the cups, and part of ...the reason I had to size up, is that they are very shallow at the base and about a centimetre of fabric just next to the underwire lays flat against my chest. I have bottom-heavy breasts and I've had this issue on several plunge bras, sometimes causing me to pop out, but with this one the issue is very minor and I haven't had any popping out problems! The wires under the armpits are a good height to prevent side boob, but not so high they dig in. The wires at the front come very low so they cause no problem at all and won't show under a low-cut top.
The bra is very comfortable to wear all day long and the band is quite firm so you feel supported. The lace detailing on the edge of the cups is quite thick but flat to the bra so it would only show under a tight, stretchy t-shirt. Overall, a very nice bra. Read more 161 more words
I got bra from another user (possibly WildWolf?) a while back. I had lost weight and was maybe 15lbs lighter then so this bra fits much differently a year or so later. I havnt had luck with some other curvy Kate bras, Often with wires being too wide/cups being too shallow but this one’s not bad. It does cut in, more so on my larger side, so I think a 28GG or 30G might fit better (barring any issues like too tall wires at the gore) Not a perfect fit and maybe a little shallower than I need, but still a comfortable bra I have in rotation.
Ok - someone please tell me the lace trim at the top of this bra softens up with washing. Cause if it does, it's going straight to the sink. Right now, I want to claw it off my chest. Since I practically stole it for $14, I reallllly want to make it work. The itchy though, oh the itchiness. This is why unlined bras and I haven't agreed thus far.
Back to the bra.
Pros: Nice firm band. 3 hooks - thank you Curvy Kate! So pretty, the "night" color is a stunning cobalt blue that is very flattering on my tan ...olive skin, and I can see how the nude and pale pink colors could be quite sexy. And the soft polka dots and silver trim and details are great little extras. Cups don't close in as much as the Bardot does, so there's no quadding. I feel supported and lifted, with a nice natural shape. The rest of the cup minus the lace trim isn't unbearably itchy, although I wish the whole thing was cotton lined.
Cons: My smaller boob doesn't quite fill the cup at either the top or the bottom, so there is some wrinkling on both that you'll probably notice in pictures. The lace feels like it's made of pine needles.
I like it. If I hadn't gotten it so cheap, I wouldn't have ever considered this bra. So really, it's a keeper.
UPDATE: Never softened up. So itchy. Too wide and shallow. Read more 154 more words
lol @ pine needles! I have it in pink. It gets better after washing but its still on the itchy side. Plus I don't like the wide wires. I just got my first unlined Ewa Michalak sm style bra and its just so much better than old CK and Freya unlined bras.
I'm gonna have to wash it cause it was a steal and fits really well overall. I need the wide wires lol. But dang, this lace.
Ok, I washed it last night. I'll have to stitch in a lining or something. I'll to look for something soft that is the same shade of blue next time I'm out shopping. This lace. I can't, I just can't.
Well, I am happy to see that a non-molded cup worked for you! I keep looking at Princess for myself but feel like I'm breaking out in mild hives whenever I'm about to pull the trigger. Maybe I'll give it a whirl.
This is a nice bra and fits perfectly in this size, but it's just not for me. The bottom half of the cup is lined while the top is not, but is restricted by the ribbon on top. This results in an odd looking bulge in the unlined section. I wouldn't recommend it for full on top boobs as the ribbon would almost certainly cut in. The shape is also quite natural looking, whereas I prefer something more rounded. Like all unpadded CKs I've tried, the band is much firmer than the Showgirls - i.e. true to size. A good everyday bra, but I just prefer padded.
The 28ff in this style was a bit too small so I tried the 28g - but that isn't quite right either. Very good bra - just not right for me. Even in the 28g the cups are cutting just a little bit at the bottom where the cups meet, but the top of the cup (near the straps) is a little empty and the bra is really high under my arms which is a bit uncomfortable. I also felt like in the 28g it wasn't giving a good shape because my breasts seemed a bit too low, i.e. to get my breasts sitting high enough I had to tighten the straps heaps, which made the bra even higher under my arms. Pitty this wasn't right as I really like the style.
I’ve seen this bra recommended a lot for projection, but I guess it’s a really poor fit for me despite that. My sternum has been so sore and hurting for much longer than I even wore the bra. Gore is too high for sure
I lost track of my UK size because I almost exclusively wear Polish now, but I guess I'm a 28FF. I've seen a lot of reviews recommending to size up in this bra so I got a 28G. My shape is projected, full on top and centre, with tall and narrow roots, soft and self-supporting tissue, and super close-set.
A few years ago I tried this bra and it was too big in the band and too small in the cups, causing gaps and painful wires under the armpit. I just got a bunch of cute summer tops and dresses so I decided to try again, as it is ...known as the most narrow and projected strapless bra.
The band is tight, but not a full size tight, with elastic gel strips. The cups are indeed narrow and projected, but a little closed on top. I agree with the advice to go up a cup. It's almost a perfect fit on my right (smaller) side, but I have these lumps on my left (bigger) side at the bottom and quad boobs at the top. I'm afraid a 28GG would be too big though. The gore is too wide but I'm not sure if I can successfully do the overlapping alteration on a padded bra. Read more 104 more words
Gosh, I tried to get this one to work too, and tried my normal size and the sister size up. Both seemed fine in the cup shape and size, but the hard wires kept digging in at the gore and I couldn't tolerate the pain. Did you have any issues with painful wires digging in with the size you tried?
belleandblues Because of how close-set I am, most gores are painful unless they're overlapped. I did the alteration on this bra and the wires were still digging, so I put a tissue paper under the gore when I wore it out for a whole day. It was not very comfortable but tolerable. When I took it off there were bruises on the side where the top of the wire sat. :( I've got an extender on the way so hopefully that'll help. I've tried a 30 band and it was too loose for me.
Ouch, that's brave of you to try wearing it out, but it hurts to read about the bruising! Do you think this might work better if you replace the underwires with ones that are less rigid? Even when I was in the sister size with a more comfortable band, the wires were intolerable.
This bra has the weirdest fit - it quads on one side, but I can't fill out the top on the other side (while also quadding slightly in the centre). I am not that uneven, so I don't know what is going on here. The fabric is quite heavy-duty at the bottom. I find the holes on the lace a little too big - the nipples don't get stuck, but it's not that far off. Maybe I should give up on this company
The gore is exactly the wrong height. Either higher or lower and it might be okay. Quadding in the middle sits smack on the wire, and the gore shifts over breast tissue during the day. Didn't notice it before, but there is some empty space right along the bottom of the wire. Also, this bra hasn't been worn much, but some some of the band stitching is starting to show wear/damage where it stretches.
I want to love this bra so much, its beautiful! But alas, the fit is not meant to be. UPDATE: After so fitting and measuring assessments Ive realized the fit issues are because its multiple sizes too big for me. Fit issue #1: Both the cup spacing and wires are WAAAAAYYY to wide. Fit issue #2: Because of the wide cup spacing there's spillover in the middle which no amount of scooping can alleviate. Fit issue #3: Strap placement. After prolonged wear it feels like they're trying to saw my arms off. On the plus side it definitely helps with posture by forcing me to pull my shoulders back lol! I'm sure I could move the straps in a little bit whenever I get into a sewing mood. Even with all these fit issues I still wear it every once and awhile just because its so pretty.
Yaaay, so glad to hear! ^_^
