I first heard that Ritzy was supposed to be in the tradition of the Showgirl line and, while from the styling aesthetic I can see why, the fit was quite different. The lace detail at the top of the cups does show through for T-shirts, so if that bothered you with the Showgirl line it is still a consideration here. There was certainly no need to size down in the band like with the Showgirl bras. In fact, the 36 Ritzy band was smaller than my 34 Tease Me! I found the band of the Ritzy to be wide, due to having three generously spaced hooks, yet it ...was firm and felt very supportive while wearing. I also did not find the mesh band to be at all scratchy. The center gore was quite comfortable despite its height, and felt fairly narrow. The Ritzy's cups do have more depth and initial lower projection than the Showgirls, though certainly not as much as an Ewa Michalak CHP. The wires were also narrower than I was expecting. In fact, they were only a little wider than my CHP Noc! I did not experience any east-west issues like I do with the unlined Curvy Kate bras. I have borderline shallow to average projection and hover between FF and G in cup size, but due to my soft tissue I found I got a nicer, rounded, uplifted shape with the FF while G gave me a more torpedo-like look. I suspect that those who need a lot of immediate lower projection will need to size up in the cup, as will those between sizes with firmer tissue. The straps are placed a bit wide, but nothing I wasn't anticipating given the bra style. I have not yet experienced arm(pit) rubbing or discomfort due to the strap placement. Overall, I REALLY like the Ritzy so far and hope Curvy Kate makes more styles like it! Read more 213 more words
This seems to be one of the bras Cuvy Kate decided to make deeper and narrower (yay for me). Wires are really narrow for a curvy Kate (similar to comexim) but this is the only 36FF I've tried, all others are 32/34 G+ Band is a little loose because I sister sized up to get it cheap but it's comfortable and I can take it in later. Gore could be a bit shorter but it's not uncomfortable, I'm just too close set. Slightly pointed cups, doesn't bother me and will certainly soften with washing but if you like snow globe boobs (nothing wrong with that!) keep that in mind. ... Peachy gold color is beautiful next to the ivory. Not a huge fan of the swirly design but it could be worse
Wide-ish straps and great 3 hook closure.
EDIT: observations after wearing this a few times (bought a second since it was dirt cheap): Band is definitely too big. I wear it on the tightest hook and it's stretchy. I don't think it's riding up but I'm very aware of how it feels throughout the day. I don't feel locked and loaded like in my other bras. But I'm a 32/34 so I expected it to be big and plan to take it in. I'd say it's probably a stretchy true-to-size band. If you like them tight maybe consider sizing down. Wings itch/irritate me by the wire tips. I think the cup is a smidge wide but that it's mostly caused by the fabric and my ridiculously delicate skin, exacerbated by this frigid winter. (It's warmer in Alaska than Michigan right now!) Straps are way too stretchy for this size range. I know only like 10-20% of the support should come from the straps, but that's still some pretty heavy lifting and they just aren't up to it. Luckily the strapping I bought for my double has minimal stretch. I think I could benefit from taking in the gore, both because I'm close set and to change the shape of the bra a little, bringing the cups more front and center. The top of the gore already has wires touching so it would just be 1/2"-1" or so at the bottom of the gore. This will also help the band issue. Read more 269 more words
LOL Snow globe boobs? That doesn't seem pointy to me. What are snow globe boobs. LOL
I think she means its a more pointy profile, so if you like really round (like snow globe), it might not be the bra for you.
My problem is the pointiness isnt . . . in the right place for me. I wish you had pictures! I like the fit of mine, but feel like it makes my boobs look deformed. Really great projection and lift, though.
sorry dbmamaz I misunderstood. I was reading too fast, thought she meant that it looked like snow globes. :)
I'll add pictures soon. It takes forever on my phone. Also, this bra is going to be a sacrifice. Since it was so cheap I'm going to take it apart, taking pictures of each step, make a pattern, sew it back together, and make a new bra from the pattern. I've already ordered supplies :)
And yeah, I meant it's not going to give you really round boobs like snow globes.
Taking pictures of each step sounds lovely! :) Thank you Yourlovealive
Nayanya it may take me a little while but eventually I'm going to compile them all into an album and write a little thing to go with it so everyone else can dismantle and make their own bras too (assuming you find a "good-enough" fit first). I'll let you know when it's all complete
So you are going to make a bra with the same shape but different fabric? Interesting! I think the shape would not be as bad if the fabric wasnt so thick. (i also think mine might be a smidge big)
dbmamaz This go around I'm using pretty similar fabric. I have poly laminate foam for the cup, and powernet coming in the mail. I haven't decided which fabric to use for the outer cup, but I'm thinking silk (or another non-cotton natural fiber) since I want to dye this puppy red without messing around with poly dyes. I'm not too worried if the foam lining doesn't dye, it'll be on the inside and probably come out pink at the very least
I like the shape of that bra and it's pretty. Very projected and round.
Wow, it looks much better on you than on me! I really wonder if mines slightly too big so I dont stretch the fabric out enough to make it tight, so it kinda folds. I'm the 32JJ pictures
dbmamaz it's possible. Amazon doesn't have any 32Js in this bra but they've got a 30JJ for $14.40, would that be much too small in the band with an extender maybe?
I have the 32JJ and I"m not going to buy another . . . I had first ordered the K because the measurements seemed off and that was WAY too small. But hubby is a bit over me buying bras . . . honestly, I'm kinda over it too for now. Next purchase is probably white floral Floris in June for my b-day
I understand.
Did you get anywhere on making copies of this bra? I'm wearing it today, and finally recognizing that its really too wide for me, with not enough depth at the gore for me and way too much empty space under my arms. It seems funny that it took me so long to recognize what was wrong!
I have the bra dismantled and a pattern made and a few pieces cut but I ordered the wrong fabric for the band so I had to wait on samples to make sure I picked the right one for the next order and now I have to wait for payday to order more. I was hoping to have it ready for v-day but will be glad if it's done by end of march for my birthday
Also, funny thing, I'm wearing mine today too! Ordered a second since it was $14.
This bra is good for women with high set breasts. It seems to be shorter on the sides than other bras, so it is one of the few that doesn't poke my armpits. I love the colors (I have both the red/poppy color and a teal one). It's very comfortable, and seems to have the immediate projection I need to keep the bra in place. I've owned both of my Madagascar bras for a few months, and they seem to be holding up well.
This bra is beautiful! I couldn’t resist it when I found it on Poshmark. I wanted the ‘cakes on a plate look’ but unfortunately I created an underarm flapjack look. Hahaha! The cups are too big, not sure why it created so much underarm flab. I am currently losing weight so maybe that makes my tissue more plentiful? Lol. I am open to ideas. Still searching!
Sorry it didn't workout for you, but I love your positive attitude and humor!
It could be that the bra is designed for a slightly different body frame than you have, so it's more of a H or A frame, while you have more of a V frame? That would cause the top of the band to hug a bit too much and cause the tissue pooling under the arms that you describe. (I don't see photos attached, so I'm basing this from your review.)
I could not get my photos to upload so I added this bra under fitting help request if you wouldn’t mind looking there?
I am not sure what you mean by A,H and V frames?
If your underbust is smaller than your waist, A frame. If your underbust is the same size as your waist, H frame. If your underbust is bigger than your waist, V frame.
The band fits amazingly well. It feels snug but not too tight and it's very comfortable. However, I found that when I sat down the wires under my arms poked me. I cannot completely fill the cup on my right side (typical) and the fabric showed through my t-shirt. The strap on the left side rubbed into my arm and left a mark (right too but not as bad). I adjusted the straps for a better fit but it wasn't comfortable fabric.
This bra is beautiful and generally comfortable. The band is VERY stretchy, the cups are generous, and the wires are not too high in the armpit area. In general this is a great everyday bra!
Thanks for being the 1st to review this bra! I have yet to try a CK bra and have heard they can be very stretchy. Would you recommend size down 1-band and consequently up 1-cup (instead of 2) since they are "roomy" or just down 1 band?? What are your best fitting brands/sizes to compare? I find Panache bands usually tighter than Freya but Fantasie always seems to run TTS and best so I like to use them as comparison.
I think that the next time I purchase one of these I will get a 34G instead of the 36FF, they do seem to stretch quite a bit more than some of my other bras and I have been wearing this one on the tightest hook. If you go down a band I would only go up 1 cup size with this bra as the cup seems ever so slightly big.
Had been told CK run small in the band and usually take a 34, but 36 band far too big. Cups fit really well and felt comfortable, but made boobs look a bit pointy under clothes. They looked great just in the bra though!
Cute bra, but very high in the side. Pokes me to death! I would definitely go up a cup if I tried this one again. Not very flattering after a few hours as everything has moved around inside.
This fit great when I purchased it. Now it's giving me an odd shape and just feels too small. I believe there is a shape mismatch I need to identify. Loved the bra though, so cute!
This bra is pretty much my holy grail. I just recently sized up to a 36FF and had a bit of a shape change that made my Cleo Marcie's not ideal anymore. I chose the Dreamcatcher based on it's measurements and it fits my wide, tall rooted, close set, average projection breasts perfectly. There is nothing I would change about this bra.
This bra fits my wide, tall rooted, close set, average projections breasts well. The only issue I have is the wires are very stiff and this causes the gore to dig in just slightly at the top. I solved this by ever so slightly bending the wires out. I hope to get all the colorways in short order.
This bra and my boobs don't have much in common. Maybe it's too wide for me, or maybe the cups are too large or shaped differently than my boobs. It doesn't feel too big, but the wrinkling on the cups says otherwise.
This bra is very pretty and my husband loves it on me.
It is comfortable for a few hours but not all day. Wires poke into me as if the bottom is pulled out and tips of wires poking in.
Large breast fills out bra nicely but definite gaping on my smaller side. Thinking of hand stitching it in so it doesn't wrinkle so much.
Bought with the intention of changing it to a nursing bra but decided not to because the center gore is too high to pull down the cup without ruining the bra.
Comes up high in the armpits so that sleeveless tops don't cover it on the sides.
Fleshy breast tissue falls out the front of the bra after wearing it for 10 minutes clearly could use a bigger cup size.
I removed all the bulky trim from the bra because it would have showed through anything.
I also converted the bra to a nursing bra on one side and do have issues because of that since pulling it down pushes the wires in toward my body. Wouldn't be an issue if it weren't converted.
This is a gorgeous bra, and I really wish I could keep it, but in addition to being about a cup size too big I'm not sure this shape works well for my bottom heavy breasts. The fabric and construction are top notch though, and I would highly recommend for any balanced or full on top girls.
I LOVE this bra! It was my first time purchasing a style from Curvy Kate but definitely won't be the last. It IS a push up bra and does it's job very well. I can't wait to try more of the showgirl line. 2 fit notes...the band has ALOT of stretch, so I'd order a band size or 2 down (both if you can to see which is best). Also, the cup does run a touch small (could be the demi cup) but unless you want lots & lots of cleavage, I'd order 1 cup size up (or more depending on how much smaller ...you go with the band). I currently wear a 38FF in just about everything, but knowing about the stretch from reading other reviews, I ordered a 36FF. Should have went down to a 34 & possibly a G or GG cup. However, the comfort is great & is the best looking push up I've had in years. A must buy if you're looking for this type of bra. 5 stars https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 80 more words
This bra is quite pretty, the material is a bit scratchy at first, but softens up after a wash. The cups are generous, wide and low underwires that do not dig into the armpit area. The band is quite stretchy so keep this in mind when you buy! It gives a great shape, seems to minimize a little bit.
LOL Snow globe boobs? That doesn't seem pointy to me. What are snow globe boobs. LOL
