Man but I wanted to love the fit of this bra as much as the look of it. Ultimately, though, I couldn't ignore the cons:
- I absolutely could not get the underwires to nestle and stay in the crease of my boobs. Instead they liked to do their own thing and float and run down my chest and generally party. I expect this is at least in part because the firm elastic band you usually find at the bottom of the bra is at the bottom of the longline, with nothing really tacking it to you at the underwire but the weaker powermesh.
-The side boning bulged strongly out ...towards the bottom and I couldn't get it to lay flat. This exaggerated my current bumps and created new ones, and wasn't a particularly comfy feeling, although it didn't hurt.
-The whole mess felt very unstable and jiggly. The gore couldn't be convinced to tack, in this or the too large size up I tried. You wouldn't want to be running for a bus in it, and while I don't mind jiggle too much, I think it'd be noticeable in daily activities too.
-There's a mesh outer layer on the cups which poofed out and looked kind of odd, at least in these cup sizes. It seemed to lay flat under clothes, though.
-The longline bit in front didn't want to actually stay down when I moved. Note, I am fat, so there's plenty of tummy influencing this. The elastic at the bottom hugged well, so it didn't want to flip up like Evenden's longlines, but it rode up instead. It also felt weird when trying to tug it down to adjust, like there wasn't an even length of fabric all along it, so you had to put more pressure in some places. Also, it was pretty impossible to accomplish this tugging down without also moving the wires down.
It was really nice having a band that deep in back, but I had to ask the boyfriend for help with it. I did also quite like the shape with clothes on.
Oh Carmen, you're beautiful, but it just wasn't meant to be.

I bought this bra second hand. The quality of this bra is excellent but unfortunately it didn't fit me. The band size fits me but the cup size not as there is a gap at the upper part of my chest. This is the reason why I mark "okay" in the appearance section. I wore this bra during a day and at the end of it, I had red marks on my armpits zone near where the wire sites and it was painful. So the comfort is quite poor but this is due to the fact that isn't the right bra size for me.
This one piece swimsuit looks so cute! I really wanted it to work for me! I’m tempted to cut it into a two piece to make it a little better, but I probably won’t as it’s so expensive.
I am 5ft 7 inches tall. I wear 16/18 bottoms with a waist size of about 35 inches and hips about 46 inches all the way down. My usual bra size is 36HH/J. I’m FOB and need a lot of immediate projection. Average vertical and horizontal roots, the latter running just slightly narrow, but I am also pretty close-set and inner full. My standing bust is 45 while my leaning is ...53, so an 8-inch difference! For reference, even the Panache Envy and Hettie don’t have enough immediate projection for my breasts, so ymmv.
First, this swimsuit is not designed for taller people. The torso is extremely short, and I’ve had to hike the swimsuit way high in the front to get the bra section even close to my breasts! If you’re taller than 5ft2, get a Brazilian or wear shorts over this one, lol! There is also no tummy/butt control, which is not a dealbreaker for me, but I think it would be more flattering on bigger wearers and could make it fit smaller wearers more comfortably (and there is no way to specify the bottom size independent of the top.)
Second, the cups don’t fit me properly. I can almost make them work, but only because I’m used to poorly fitting swimsuits and it has the semi-sheer wrap to cover and support a tiny a bit. The cups are padded, and there is not enough immediate or apex projection, so my boobs smoosh to the side and push down the underwires—and the underwires want to slip down anyway, due to the very short torso.
I cannot get the gore to come anywhere close to flat. The lack of projection means my boobs fall inward, pushing out the gore. No amount of scooping or swooping helps. I am not full enough on top to fill them properly or hold them up. This would be a tricky fit for many people, I think—my breasts are too firm to pour into the cup shape, but not firm enough to cleave perfectly to the top section.
Again, it’s extremely cute and I want it to work! It might be okay if I cut it into a two-piece or sew an extra panel into the midsection, and I could probably remove the padding and modify the cups somehow to get it to work. But I’m still not positive it would work right, and at that point I would rather buy a super cheap suit that fits right everywhere but the bust and just modify the cups to be bigger. It wouldn’t be that hard to sew a wrap feature on another suit, either.
Sadly, this probably won’t work for you if you’re on the tall side, need a lot of immediate projection, or are smaller than a size 14 or bigger than say a size 20 on bottom. I think it might fit someone who is shorter than 5ft4, wears a 14-20 in bottoms, and has self-supporting, not excessively projected breasts (Less than 8 inches difference between standing and lying for sure). My breasts are center-full, pendulous, FOB, and I have a lot of squish in my band measurement. My center-fullness is usually my dominant fit requirement. I suspect I have somewhat short roots, and narrow-to-average roots for my size. I also have narrow, somewhat sloped shoulders.
I hate this bra. It's an utterly pointless garment and I hate it. *deep breath* Okay, I'm done now.
I have other unlined bras. I have other bras with mesh. Thanks to a combination of the material, my heavy breasts, and CK's soft wires, I get absolutely no support from this bra. I'd be better off wearing a bralette - I HAVE bralettes that give ...me more support. The gore was probably always going to be too low for me, but I generally can't speak to how this bra might have fit because it just gives me no support.
The material of the bra is nice enough, but generally speaking it feels rather cheaply made. I purchased this bra brand new and it came with several loose threads and such.
CK has always used soft wires, but this season and with this bra in particular I feel like they have gotten even softer. Not sure how I feel about that. Read more 95 more words
Too bad it was so wrong for you. The style has nice clean lines and looks like a pretty bra, but looks aren't everything! I'll stay away too!
Yeah, I don't want to completely harsh on the bra. I think it would be really nice for someone with more self supporting or less heavy breasts. The thin material could be really nice in the summer when the last thing I want is yet another layer of clothing, lol.
By definition, 36J boobs are heavy and not self-supporting. If curvy kate cant support big boobs, they shouldnt make bras that big. I feel very strongly about this.
It's so weird because the one I got wasn't like this. My main gripes are the straps: much too wide set and stretchy. Straps that support 40DD can't support 40K. It's just physics.
Y'all's comments reminded that I own, and quite like, a Curvy Kate Sheer Joy . It's made of what feels like totally different material. Much sturdier.
I put up with Curvy Kate's crappy straps because of their short but not too narrow or wide wires - that said, if the wires keep getting softer, that's no good for me either. I've thought about replacing the straps with something more comfortable, but I can only hand-sew (and not very well) and I don't think that would be strong enough.
I admit I've only ever tried to CK, but they were both the old wide-and-shallow model. No, not true - there was one padded model I had for a while. It was ok. Not great.
I need slightly wider wires than this bra gives because I have very wide roots. The straps were too far apart, I need closer to centre pull straps or a j hook. The quality was fab, it was workable, but not a total win for my boob shape is all.
This is a pretty bra and it comes in so many fabulous colors. Unfortunately for me, I ordered the wrong size. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> MAJOR Quadboob action! I may order it 2 cup sizes bigger.
This is best fitting curvy kate bra I have found so far after trying on numerous others. There's not much in the way of uplift, but just a nice rounded natural look. (I used to wear only molded cup bras which were way too tight so this is new for me but not bad.) The bra is pretty comfortable and is my go to bra currently. Pros: comfy, plunge, actually fits my very large, close set, full on the bottom breasts. Cons: after a long day it starts to rub a little under the arms, the cups end so far under my arms (I have wide breast roots) that the side of the cup is very visible under tank tops, but the fact that it actually encompasses my breast tissue is great. This can be a problem if the color doesn't coordinate, wish I had this in black and not pale pink for this reason since the armpits on pale pink start to look a little dingy after many washes.
Beautiful colors, a great fit (once you find your size), what is not to love! Fabric feels a bit scratchy until after the first wash(due to starch I think), then it softens up well. This is a good everyday bra for normal activities. It's not the kind of bra I would do heavy physical stuff in (like carry boxes or clean the house), but is great for work and under most tops. If you wear it under a top that is tight or thin, you can see the ribbon detail. That's okay with me, because I have other bras for those types of tops(like moulded or padded).
Finally got a good fit from Curvy Kate! It took many tries to find my size in the Gia, but I got it. This bra gives great support and is also beautiful. I have broad shoulders so the straps were not too far apart for me. If you have given up on getting a good fit from CK, try going down a band size and up a cup size. That did it for me. Have not washed it yet, so I can't speak to how it will be with time. There is nothing I don't like about this bra, best fitting balconette for me so far. Slightly projected, but still feels secure. The seams do show a bit through tight or thin clothing, but not too bad. Bonus: I stand up straighter in this bra, not slouching as much.
This bra is so pretty. I bought it to have a piratical and lingerie purpose. Unfortunately I don't think it can be practical for me. First it rolls up on my tummy which is annoying. I do have a round stomach though https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />. Also the bra mesh over the cups that makes it so pretty is bunchy and too loose. I feel up the inside dark pink cups completely but the outside mesh and underlying white fabric will still have wrinkles in it. It defiantly wouldn't work under thin clothes.
It is so pretty! I'm hoping it will work for me though I have my doubts, lol. Not sure whether to go with a 36H or 36HH...hm.. Could you do me a favor and measure how tall the cups are? While you have it on,measure in the middle of the cup from the bottom wire to the edge of the cup.
So not including the little bit of flowers up top? Just the actual Bra? and Yes I can defiantly do that for you!
Either should work. :) Thank you!
8.5 inches. :)
Oh thanks.Yay,so the size I'm gonna try shouldn't be too tall in the cups for me.
It seems way bigger when looking at it. I was shocked it wasn't bigger. Good Luck I hope you like it.
Pretty, like all Curvy Kate bras. It's just not quite right. The gore doesn't go as high as I'd like and I hang out a bit at the top. The underwires are a bit high on the sides and the cups dig into my armpits. It feels like I could go up a cup size, but since I'm wearing it with an extender anyway, a 38J would probably be a better choice.
I was going to return this bra, but when I tried it with an extender it fit *much* better. I think the tightness of the band distorted the wires, taking away the projection I need, flattening the cups and making quad boob. Now the only problem is some extra fabric on the sides. It's actually really flattering on me, I'm psyched!
Wires were WAY too wide for me, and I found the wires slipping down, causing my breast tissue to spill toward the middle and look like a quad boob. It's a genuinely comfortable bra, though, and if I could keep the underwires in my infra-mammary fold, I'd be very happy with it.
