I took a huge gamble with this bra. DVT doesn't come in my preferred 28G/30FF, and I can't justify spending full price ££ on a 32F, so when the brand popped up on Brand Alley with huge discounts I thought there was no better time to try some out! I'm pleasantly surprised, but not completely sold on this. It's wearable for fashion purposes and/or the bedroom, which is primarily why I bought it (as something pretty, not necessarily functional for me). The cups are a super soft stretch lace with no shaping to them except a single dart, and an inner mesh sling. The sling is the only thing that somewhat lifts my bust, the rest of the cup doesn't do much for me at all. My bust is quite self-supporting so it isn't the most tragic fit, but if you have heavier or softer breast tissue it might not be for you. Overall it does feel nicely made and the fabrics are soft and comfortable, but only a 5/10 for actual support for me.
I love the look of this bra, the band is a little too tight for me (could be that the cups are slightly too small making the band feel even more tight?). Gave me serious "cakes on a plate" look which I like, but I think it did end up being a smidge small in the cup. The wires are narrower than all of the other bras I have which is nice! They are around 5.2" in width. I think if I can find this in a 34E I would definitely try it again since it's very sexy and the color is nice too.
It feels very sexy, the caged back is amazing. I usually wear a 36FF and sized down so that I might get a little cleavage going on, I wouldn’t recommend that. From the front, everything is A+. from the side, it gets weird. The bra has a quilted satin lower cup and a stretch lace upper cup. I mean VERY stretchy lace. To the point where I have slight in-cup quad boob (apparent in photos) because instead of spilling lustily out of the top of the cup, I’m spilling out of the quilted portion like my boobs have a very expensive shelf. Still, I really love this bra, it makes me feel like a slightly naughty fifties housewife, which I think is the whole point of this bra to begin with. The straps (all five million of them) sit flush, are very soft, and don’t migrate. I’m nearly 6ft tall and the straps have plenty of length for me as well. It’s all around a fantastic bra that I would buy again, but maybe in my true cup size.
I would have tried this in 30F, my usual UK size, but that size wasn't available. Indeed, herroom.com was the only retailer with E or F cups in any band size. To simulate a 30 band, I fastened this on the tightest hooks. As I expected, the cups seemed a trifle large. On the plus side, the cups, excluding the straps going diagonally from center gore to straps, were low coverage. It's hard to find low coverage cups in the 30F range The comfort and sexiness of low coverage cups were canceled out in this bra by the straps. Attractive but uncomfortable straps go from the center ...gore to the straps. The straps are only partially adjustable. If they were fully adjustable, I believe the cups wouldn't be too big. At the least, fully adjustable straps would enable me to get better shaping. The straps are too wide-set, so my shoulders push them inward and exacerbate the poor shaping caused by the cups being too large. Immediately, the 2.25" high center gore was uncomfortable. The highest a gore can be without painfully pressing on breast tissue is 1.75." The bottom quarter of each cup is a thick, somewhat rigid quilted material. It resembles the Freya Deco cup material in rigidity. The rigid, quilted material covers about the same area as a quarter cup bra. It gives good lift Above that are two vertically seamed lace panels. The vertical seams curve diagonally from the bottom up toward the center of the chest. A UK 32F bra is one cup volume up from my usual UK 30F. There is no lift or shaping from the sheer lace panels. I believe this can be only partially attributed to the cups being one size larger than my usual size. The top edge of each cup's sheer lace panels need to be anchored to something higher up to lift my breasts. I prefer sturdily constructed bras with strong wires and high wings to shape firm, self-supporting breasts into something different than what nature gave me. I'm not ungrateful for my natural shape, but what's the point of wearing a bra, if not to transform? I believe the combination of partially adjustable straps, straps being too wide-set, and stretchy, sheer lace panels made for mediocre shaping.
I'll format my review later. I just wanted to get down my impressions before returning the Madame X Underwire Bra, which I did immediately.
I hadn't expected the Madame X Underwire Bra to work for me, especially in 32F. The Dita Von Teese Starlite bra has a similar construction. The lower part of the cup is a thicker, firmer substance, and the upper part is a soft, stretchy lace. I had poor shaping from the top half of that one, too, plus in-cup quadding. The Madame X Underwire Bra at least didn't have the latter shape issue. I simply took advantage of a sale to capture measurements, pictures, and fit details for my firm, full-on-top breasts that are absurdly close together. Though I have tall roots and a FoT shape, my extreme petiteness means I find most UK bras to be too full coverage, even among those with great fit and shaping, even setting aside my need for extremely low gores.
The best feature of Dita Von Teese bras for me are the low coverage cups. Except for the superfluous straps hovering diagonally above the cups, this bra is low coverage. Those decorative straps are very stretchy. They lie properly on my FoT tissue at the designed space above the cups, but I would've removed them if I'd kept the bra. Even if I were into the bondage inspired strappy aesthetic, it seems incongruous in this light, bright, and pretty color.
I do love the light, clear, golden peachy color, called Creme Caramel. This works nicely as a nude-for-me. This is not the greenish or grayish beige so often touted as "nude" in the antediluvian terminology of bras.
The Dita Von Teese Madame X Satin and Lace Moulded Underwire Bra Y50945 (sometimes called the Madame X T-Shirt Bra) also comes in this color. I'll try more Dita Von Teese bras in this color.
Well, it's beautiful and very show-offy. If I tuck in the mesh part at the top of the cups I spill out, but as long as I leave the mesh visible I'm fine. The straps are a little wider-set than I would like (this is not a problem I usually have). It is not especially comfortable to wear all day - the straps at the back are maybe sewn a little rough? but it's sexy as anything and it seems to fit.
While this bra fits according to the Bratabase multiple choice questions, the shape it gives isn't great. When the bottom satin material segues to the upper lace material, it dents at that seam. The profile is lumpy. The gore is 2" high, which is about 1/2" higher than I prefer.
The color is brilliant turquoise. I could not capture the clear, brilliant color in photos. The Star Lift bra's satin fabric shines like Mimi Holliday bras' silks. I actually checked the Star Lift's fiber content because I thought it might be silk., but it is synthetic. The Star Lift's lace is soft.
The shape I get in Star ...Lift reminds me of what happens when I put on the Freya Icon bra. Icon has a moulded lower cup and lace upper. The profile I get in that is similarly lumpy. The Dita Von Teese Star Lift is not moulded or padded in any way, however. Since my own profile without a bra is smoother and rounder than what Star Lift provides, it puzzles me this bra is able to do this with unlined fabric. Read more 76 more words
I was really hoping that this would fit because it's gorgeous but it doesn't. Got it at bloomingdale's (online) on sale with store credit. Had never tried any of her stuff on before and thought it might be worth a shot considering that some companies seem to list 32 as the correct band size for a 27-28 in underbust (mine is 27.5) but it's a bit to big, by which I mean it fits on the tightest hook new and I now know that's not a good thing. That said, I would totally keep it anyway if there weren't other fit issues. While I fill out ...the cup fine on both sides, there is wrinkling in the mesh (which is not stretchy as I was hoping it would be) above my smaller right breast. Considering that this isn't the kind of bra that you could wear under thin, tight shirts anyhow (the seam of the mesh on the cup and lace are visible through a shirt like this), it isn't the end of the world. The real problem is the cup width. Cuts into my tissue on the outer side of both breasts. As a rather unhelpful woman at a shmancy lingerie store once said to me, "but it looks fine". Well it doesn't feel fine. It's uncomfortable, regardless of the fact that I don't have enough tissue in general for this to be obvious to an onlooker. And while it might look ok topless, under a shirt it makes me look like my breasts are in the middle of my chest. As someone with a thin, wide frame, this is a constant issue. It's gotten rather frustrating. Read more 184 more words
MiskiDwie , did you take pics of the bra on? I can't find any photos of the pushup effect.
