I'm just recently discovering my accurate bra size, so I don't have much to compare this bra to as of yet. That said, the cup size on this seemed a tad too big compared to the Fantasie I have that's supposedly the same size. This 36G is a little tight on the band for me, but i'm right at 37" underbust, so I was trying to steer towards a tight band that would loosen to just right over time. The lace and scalloped trim they've chosen however has been unbearably itchy, the center gore was so tight against my breast bone that I thought it might bruise, I couldn't even manage to wear it for the day. It doesn't have any padding, and I love how wide the straps and band are, but loosening the straps to a comfortable level caused some wrinkling in the top just below the strap that I wasn't crazy about.
My experience with Elomi bras thus far is that they tend to run large in the cup - I usually go down a cup size for them. Also their gores can really hurt at first; I bend mine out a bit so they don't stab. They're the only bras I have that I've had to do that with.
overthestars I just can't figure out what size it's supposed to be. It fits the same as the other bra I got (Fantasie 2961, labelled US 36G/UK36F), but the label says "US 36G/UK36G" 0.0 - well, which is it, label?! Do other Elomi bras have the same US & UK cup size listed? I thought they should be one cup different.
Some brands like to put that uk and us are the same on the tag. A lot of my bras have that. Elomi and fantasie are uk brands, so ignore that US size listed. So your fantasie is a 36F and your elomi is a 36G. They're 2cups apart, that's why they feel different.
This review is for the black version, 36G non-altered, on a body with soft breast tissue and a narrow-ish root, with a very tired Cooper's ligament (not self-supporting). Bra is approximately 2 months old at the time of writing this review, with regular wear (2-3 times a week.). No previous owner. Please forgive me if the bra measurements seem odd at all; I've never really measured them before and it's not as easy as I thought it would be! I love this bra. Oh, I love this bra. Even though I shouldn't, as it doesn't fit, not quite. For the technical bits: the wires are too wide for my frame. I ...have empty, unusable cup space at the sides because the wire is too wide. (Unknown whether this is because the band is technically a size too large, or because Elomi wires are just a smidge too wide for me in general.) It's one cup size too small; if I swoop-and-scoop, I have quadboob. Since this is the second-best fit I've got right now, I just jiggle myself in and try not to think about it (shame on me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />). Even without scooping, though, I have slight quadboob that worsens as the day goes on. The bra cup itself is molded, which is a flexible and soft black material on the inside that does not irritate my skin in the least; the outside of the bra, underneath the embroidered mesh overlay, is beige. The black mesh overlay is attached only at the edges of the cups, but there hasn't been an issue with wrinkling. The seams and embroidery are very, very visible through most shirts, though. The band is firm, and only slightly too loose on my 34.5 inch ribs. It's wide and feels very comfortable. (It is worth noting, however, that the left side of the band under the cup and partway along the wing does enjoy flipping curling itself upward. I'm not sure if this is because of my body [tiny roll under my underbust crease] and posture, or the bra.) Now, aesthetically speaking (which I'm much better at; I apologize). Even though my breasts aren't full on top (I'm not even sure if they're full on the bottom, either...) I still get a pleasant shape from this bra - a very separate, lifted, round profile with what's often described as "Marie Antoinette cleavage". It does end up looking a little shelf-like once my breasts have settled in, though. As this bra has been discontinued and I don't have a huge amount of knowledge about how this bra may work with other bodies, I can't recommend anything in particular, except maybe sizing up in the cup if you find yourself at the larger side of your cupsize. Expands too far past my silhouette. Scalloped strap edges. Three hooks. Creates a flat chest that still gets cut into by cup edge. Slight gapping at top of cup on small side, may not be noticeable in clothes.
It's comfy and basic enough, but frankly I think the design is a bit ugly. I also don't like the top of the cups, where there's two layers of mesh. Even if it fits on top, the second layer of mesh makes it look wrinkled.
Tried on and decided not to purchase. The spacer fabric was really comfortable and light. However there was some wrinkling at the bottom side of the cups, and the wire seemed marginally wide. Also, while the top did not quite create noticeable quadboob, it was cutting a little firmly along my breast tissue at an unflattering angle.
When I first put this on I thought it was the one. I could probably go down to 34GG because I had it on the tightest hook. After wearing for a few hours, the band flipped up and started shifting up my back. The fabric isn't very comfortable so hopefully that will get better after a few wears.
My shape is narrow, even, projected with average-to-short roots, close-set with lots of upper-center fullness and soft, saggy breast tissue. I usually find that Elomi bras are generally too wide and not enough room at the gore for my shape. But I took a chance to buy this bra secondhand, and it's quite comfortable to wear! This, despite it being technically too small - the cups aren't deep enough to contain all of my breast tissue, so my breasts get squished up and towards the center. I removed the elastic from top of cups to allow more of my upper/center fullness to squish out, and I still get quadboob, but I can wear this bra without pain! This is a cup size smaller than I would normally wear, so wires are not too wide. I'm thinking of getting the Morgan in 36GG and putting in narrower wires.
Too tight in the cup and loose in the band for me. Needed a different size, went up in the cup and down in band. Snagged a 34H and it's now my go-to bra. It was the 36GG for a small moment, but turns out I was bloated for shark week. 34H fits for the rest of the month.
The fabric of this bra is very soft, which I like. The band fits comfortably and the gore tacks. I find that the wires follow my IMF much more closely than those of my other Elomi bras. The gore is very short so I have quite a bit of breast tissue above it in the center - this might be normal since this bra is a plunge and I don't usually wear plunges. This bra gives me a strange almost square breast shape, which I find is often the case in bras with vertical seams in the cups.
This bra is very pretty, with nice scalloped edges along the cups. The band is on the loose side of comfortable. The gore tacks well but (as usual) turns left towards my larger breast. The wires are wider than my IMF but don't poke or hurt. I'm getting some wrinkling at the upper and outer part of the cups (near my underarms). I like that this bra is bandless, which saves me from the issue I have in banded Elomi bras where the band turns under itself as the day progresses and then starts to hurt.
I bought this 36G Elomi Etta to see if it fit better than the 36GG I already own since the top of the cups wrinkle quite a bit in the 36GG. I must say the 36G is a lot better in that regard as there is almost no wrinkling at the top of the cups. The band is comfortable and the bottom of the cups is well filled. However, the gore doesn't quite tack 100% (seems to be missing about 1/4") and turns left towards my bigger breast. Other than that, this bra is bandless, which is something I like since the bands on my banded Elomi bras tend to turn under themselves and hurt. (I think this is due to the cups not being deep enough and my breasts pressing down and forwards on the cups).
The salon where I bought it is enthusiastic about fitting clients who've never had a good bra before, for whom 80% fit is miles better than anything they've ever had; the shop is not so enthusiastic about finding the right bra for clients who want really great fit.
I hadn't bra shopped in a while and my body had changed, and former-favorite brands' quality had decreased, so I wasn't as picky as I should have been. My bad. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Good: the straps have a hook and eye on vertically adjustable sliders, so you can convert the bra to racerback style.
Very happy to find a padded/moulded bra with a good amount of projection! This fits super comfortably in every regard. The wires are a little narrower than my Elomi Lexi (by about a cm or two) and this makes them the perfect width for me. Neither very wide nor very narrow. I'm FoT, and can tend more towards a 36GG than a 36G with many moulded bras, but the 36G fits me perfectly with no quadding in this one. Love it!
My first properly fitting bra! Finally. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Other than fitting properly, this bra ticks a few other important boxes for me. It's made of soft, non-irritating materials. The band is stretchy - less stretchy than Freya or my @Lepel Fiore, but still enough to give a bit of added comfort. And the lace on top is also nice and stretchy, which both accommodates my upper fullness and works well with my unevenness. The wire is a little too wide for me, but I'd rather that than too narrow and sitting on tissue. Finally, the Lexi accommodates my projection well while giving a rounded, rather than bullet, shape. Very happy to pick this up for just £15 in the ASOS sale.
This is the Elomi plunge bra that I got at Nordstrom Rack before I bought the Elomi Betty that I thought was the correct size at Nordstrom. As a test. Nope. I just cannot wear this bra. I took the band in by about 4 inches to make a 32H, but... The cups are too wide and shallow. And there is a ton of space on the sides because they're so wide. This bra pushes my boobs flat, down and to the sides. And it's just really uncomfortable because the cups give me no support.
The band was extremely tight, but did not hurt. I get slight quadboob just above the gore and it doesn't fully tack. There's some wrinkling at the sides of the cups.
My experience with Elomi bras thus far is that they tend to run large in the cup - I usually go down a cup size for them. Also their gores can really hurt at first; I bend mine out a bit so they don't stab. They're the only bras I have that I've had to do that with.
