My boobs: very short narrow root, full on top, center full
The fit: Fits like a 38JJ or true to size 40J. The fit is very similar to my 38JJ - Elomi » Lottie Plunge Bra (4180) except lower cut and more open on top (excepting the straps). When I tried my 40JJ - Elomi » Jodi Plunge Bra (4190) over the top of this bra, there was room at the bottom, apex, and top of the bra, which suggests that this bra is a size smaller everywhere in comparison to other Elomi plunges, at least in this size. Additionally, when I ...tried my Lottie over the top of this bra, it fit the same everywhere except the Lottie was a bit taller and more closed on top, and had more room at the center. This is due to the seam placement, which is more east-west on this bra, with less room in the center. To make up for that, the gore is low and fairly narrow at the base. I have no problem after wearing this bra with the wires resting on tissue at the gore, a problem with most Elomi bras. The gore is the same height as my Elomi Jodi and does not tack, probably because of the lack of room at the apex. The side wires are very tall and would gouge me if I didn't replace them, which I always do. The band is firm and very comfortable. It doesn't move around at all. The straps don't cut in to the top of my breasts. Although it is supposed to be the same cut as Elomi Matilda Plunge Bra (8900), it is much shorter and smaller than the one I tried in this size. The fit is pretty good, considering the depth at the wire, as I don't have any sliding out of my IMF, although I do have some wrinkling at the base of the cup. The strap placement is much more centered than other bras I own and is the biggest selling point of this bra for me, followed by the great strappy details.
The look: Lifted, rounded, although I could have done with more room at the bottom of the bra. Would have been a better fit if it had fit true to size, but I'm sort of in between sizes right now. I get a very slight upside down 7 shape, so if I gain any weight it will be ugly. Without clothes on it looks great though, and the straps rest perfectly on my breasts in just the right place. Under my work clothes there is no hint of strappiness, and the arm holes are cut nice and deep so I can wear it under a black dress that usually shows bra on the side. Under low cut party dresses and shirts, the strappiness is just right for me. I'm fine with a bit of sex appeal when I'm out with my husband. Besides the straps there are no embellishments like bows and the shoulder straps are attached to a ring in the front which does not dig in.
The feel: Not as soft as Elomi's satin bras, but also not as itchy as some of their more plastic bras. Not as itchy as the Matilda plunge or really any CK bras. The inner side support panel is lined in a flannel type fabric which is very soft. The straps are similar to Elomi Bijou Banded Moulded Bra (8720) straps: slightly more stretchy and smooth, but won't get frayed over time. The strappy straps are made of a cleverly sewed stretch elastic which are just right for my full on top short breasts. The straps move with my movement, which I like. No cutting in and I feel like they wouldn't cut in even on very full on top tall roots because of their elasticity. The mesh on the band under the gore sometimes folds over and is itchy, but no more than three or so times per day so far. The best part is, because of the strappy straps and their connection to the top of the cups, the straps are pulled forward out of my armpits into a very comfortable wearing position. I have no issues with the straps falling down whatsoever in this bra, making the comfort very great indeed.
A great strappy bra for a plus band and cup woman, and a good buy if you need centered straps and a firm band as well.
Edit: 12/30/18- after wearing this bra for a long time and comparing the fit to another Sachi and a Soraya both in 40JJ, I’m pretty sure this is a mislabeled 40J. As I bought it from an outlet, that makes sense. But you should also know that in a real 40JJ the cups fit tts and the band is still really firm. Read more 741 more words
Gorgeous!! The straps are very fetching. So glad this one is comfortable after a few tweaks.
Those straps look really awesome under a shirt.
Love how this looks on you! So pretty.
It looks really great on you! Love the cup strappies, too! Almost a butterfly silhouette pattern.....very nice!
Missed your dress photo earlier: Wow! That is an amazing look on you!!!
Wow!! What an awesome bra! It looks so great on you. I can understand the slight east-west though, the seams are a bit outward facing. My boobs are naturally upside down 7 east west, so I want a bra that doesn't do that!! Lol. I love how thorough your review is. :)
Thanks so much for the compliments! I wore it all day yesterday without discomfort! It may become my favorite bra. Can't wait to go out with my love and show it off!
I should start by saying that I am currently wearing this and have been all day and all I had to do was change out wires for my usual ones. That’s how comfortable it is, and what an amazing fit it is.
Fits almost perfectly- I could use a tiny bit more room in the bottom center and the sides are slightly too tall but otherwise the fit is perfect for me. The strappy parts give great upper support without a higher gore, which I generally find uncomfortable. This bra is even more comfortable because the fabric is super soft, buttery, and smooth, and the ...band is consistently firm as it is double layered.
The fabric is also just gorgeous- its’s a digital print, I can’t tell if it’s pink and red roses or chrysanthemums, all over a black background. It’s very me, sort of moody and romantic, which is how I like to dress.
Oh, also, the shape is phenomenal- nice and round, which Elomi used to not be able to do. It’s what I want in a bra shape.
I love this bra and I love how Elomi has been making more fabulous inclusive lingerie. This season has just been fantastic- full of beautiful bras with beautiful fits. I hope they keep it up. Read more 116 more words
If you are a plus full busted woman then you already are aware of Ewa Michalak’s SM line, and particularly her beige or pink with black seamed bras with detachable or straps, such as Ewa Michalak Sm Ja Weim. You might lament their limited size range, narrow wires, or scaling in larger sizes. If you want a strappy Ewa bra but they just won’t work for these reasons, have I got good news for you! And the fit issues I had with this bra are similar to some of the fit issues with Ewa’s SM bras, so you might not be disappointed there either *wink*.
The ...Tori has everything I love about lingerie- beautiful details, Art Deco/Arts & Crafts style embroidery mixed with a modern structure and Marlies Dekkers’ strappy luxury, and the comfort and fit Elomi is good at. Thus, Tori is vintage and modern, sexy and comfy, and while the strappy trend is dated now, the embroidery and comfort make it pretty special.
Its construction is pretty similar to other Elomi plunges. Elomi has been playing with the shape, if not the actual dimensions of their plunges, and I feel like this bra might be what they are going with. Like Elomi Sachi Plunge Bra (4350), Tori is a bit shallower on bottom to provide uplift. This also means I get wrinkles, but no gapping, on the bottom. The apex is a little more widely spaced so, like most bras, I get some wrinkling on the inside too. This particular bra seems slightly shallower/wider spaced than my Sachi on the inside, so without a few modifications the gore does not tack. I think this is to prevent spillover into the center, but since I have very firm center tissue and short roots, that will never be a problem for me.
The band is true to size, firm, built slightly more for a V shaped body than I would like, but still very comfortable. It is double-lined mesh in back, and the black binding everywhere is soft and velvety. The cups are double-lined non stretch mesh. The top of the cup has a slightly stretchy tape to keep everything in place.
The straps are like the Sachi- firm stretch elastic with no embellishment. The straps each have little loops to attach the center rose motif. The motif attaches to the gore via loops which are connected to two center buttons.
Wires are soft and wide and tall at the sides- too soft and wide and tall for me. I need about that width at the bottom of the cup because of my flat roots, but a more vertical, shorter wire on the side. The gore is the usual width, but too wide for me. Once I narrowed the gore at the top and replaced the wires with my usual #60 vertical flat wires from porcelynne, my tissue sank easily into the cup. It’s nice because I needed all the space I could get at the center and narrowing the gore gives me that much more room there.
I have had to do this mod to basically all my bras so it’s nothing new. I will have to adjust the buttons and loops at the gore but as it stands Tori will be worn a lot- if it’s anything like Sachi it will get worn quite a bit.
On a woman with taller roots in my size this would be a plunge with a pretty standard plunge shape. On me it fits as a mid coverage bra, but that’s due to shape and size. I’m excited to own a bra like this. I like plunges because the shape is good for my shape, and the beige is a good nude for my skin tone. I feel very sexy but also classy, and I really appreciate the comfort and support. I like that I can wear the bra to work with work appropriate necklines, then attach the motif on my way to dinner out with my husband to make my lbd a wow dress. It’s one of the more expensive non-luxury bras out there, but I think it’s well-worth the price. And considering how well my Sachi has held up, this band will not stretch out, fabric won’t fray, and the bra will last and last, as long as appropriate care is taken.
TLDR: if you always wanted a strappy bra, but were sized or shaped out, now is your chance. Band and cup are tts, support is excellent, quality and longevity are superb, aesthetic are on point.
looks like you found a great bra. It looks amazing on you!
The embroidery is absolutely gorgeous. It looks lovely on you, too!
It's beautiful!
Very lovely!
That is so pretty on you! Definitely one of those bras that feel special.
i was wondering how many bras you own - you do a decent number of reviews (or maybe they just stand out to me, being close to my size but probably not a fit for me!)
dbmamaz I have a lot but most don’t fit as my size has gone from 40H to 38J to 40JJ now.
I’m constantly having shape and size changes so I’ve bought way more bras than I should have. Also, I buy a lot, try them, measure them, and return them. The closest store that sells my size is a 5 hr drive away.
Wow!! Another stunner on you!!!
Thanks Love4Pollinators! Also I’m pleased to say that after the above modifications and wearing it 12 hours today I only noticed any discomfort in the last hour or so.
dbmamaz I counted and I currently own 15 bras/swim tops I wear regularly, another 17 I wear less frequently, and about 30 more I would love to wear if I shrink/I use for parts.
cool! i currently have 7 in regular rotation and 2 more coming.
I have about 5 swim tops and 10 or so bras in rotation so I’m right there with you.
hah, the high-end bra store near me just posted this model on fb! I was all like, Ooh, I know what that is!!
After I realized my most comfortable, best fitting 38JJ - Elomi » Lottie Plunge Bra (4180) cut in to the top of my breasts on larger days and sometimes I needed an extender when I was bloated even after 6 months of wear (that band has not worn out at all!) I decided I needed the next size up. Of course that and the Maya were sold out so I got the latest in the same shape, the Jodi, in 40JJ.
Besides the wide wires and some poking in the armpit, the fit is perfect. No cutting in/quadding. As I will replace the ...wires with smaller ones to match my omega shape needs I'm not concerned about the wire fit. The fit is essentially full coverage on me because of my short short roots and in this case I like it. I feel quite contained. The band is firm and feels great. The mesh is really sturdy. I love the shape I get as well. Projected and rounded.
The fabric is really special: soft, silky, but firm and an unusual print they call Velvet but which looks more like microbes under a microscope to me. It is cobalt and turquoise on a black background. Black lace that mirrors the pattern tops it off. It is more delicate than the Lottie lace but still supportive. The gore decoration is a beautiful jewel. All in all, the feel, fit, and look is superb.
Edit: I changed out the wires to some 30HH Panache wires a few weeks ago. I wore this bra for 12 hours today and forgot to take it off. I actually forgot I was wearing a bra!!!! First time for me after 150 bras. Read more 199 more words
Looks great on you! Makes me want to jump back on the elomi train even though i’ve never been able to find one that works for me yet.
The immediate projection is amazing! Wow! Congratulations!!
ennakym even though the fit of Curvy Kate is better I get such better support and comfort from Elomi. They are just made to support heavy breasts. If only they also were made for an omega shape!
Love4Pollinators thanks! It's already feeling good. Very little slipping. I've got narrower, shorter wires in already and now that I'm not being stabbed in the armpit I'm feeling very good about this purchase!
Wonderful!! I continue to seriously consider an Elomi purchase, but these are not inexpensive bras.
Love4Pollinators I know. Even GB 🇬🇧 prices are similar. However my other Elomi bra (Lottie) I wore almost every day this summer, it went without washing when we were out of water, and I moved, dug up tomato plants in 100 degree weather, and went to 12 hour festivals in it comfortably. So it was worth it to me.
cupandahalf That is a workhorse and worth every penny!!
I know! And the band is barely stretched. I've washed it in hot water (I know, bad) because I sweated so much in it this summer and it held up really well.
I just hope the band will hold up on this one as it is mesh rather than the thicker fabric of Lottie.
I took apart my previous 40JJ - Elomi » Kim Plunge Bra (4340) and wanted a second one, so here we are. The bra fits better now that I have gained weight and solidly fit this size but the bottoms of the cups are still a little too shallow at the wire, and the gore is still too wide. However, the lack of pointiness now that I fill the cups better is nice. After narrowing the gore and changing the wires, my two standard changes, it should be fine, if not my best fit.
It’s funny to compare this “plunge” with my 40J - Curvy Kate » Dragonfly Plunge Bra (SG5411). This fits very much like a full cup bra on me because of my short roots and the majority of the depth is at the center. With the dragonfly I’ve got a real plunge shape and the majority of the depth is at the bottom and sides. Now if I could get a combination of the two!
I had to wear this bra for a while and do my usual wire swap before I decided how I feel about the fit. I'm happy to say that it is gorgeous and is going to work well for me.
So I got this bra in 40JJ and thought it would fit exactly like my 40JJ - Elomi » Jodi Plunge Bra (4190) as it is based on the same pattern. While the fit is quite similar, my Jodi had a stretchier band and cups deeper at the wire. I think this really shows that all bra brands have differences in individual bras (I had ...two slightly differently fitting Sachis as well). This style by Elomi is the second best style/shape I own by them, after the 40J - Elomi » Tia Bandless Bra (4280) . My first in this cut, the 38JJ - Elomi » Lottie Plunge Bra (4180) is a workhorse I wore nearly exclusively for over a year- it is now limp and worn out, sadly. This bra will replace it.
The print is absolutely to die for. I mean seriously it's so beautiful. The flowers are white and linear on a more bluish toned red background. I wish the lace matched the color- it's more of a warm toned red. However, it's a slight difference, and I like the kitschy pattern of it- very folk, which is the whole vibe of the bra.
The fabrics are all soft and silky, as are the elastics. The straps have matching fabric sewn on the top front. All in all, really a comfortable, all day wearing bra, wrapped in the most beautiful package. Read more 182 more words
Do you swap in narrower wires? I'm asking because I just sent back an Elomi. It would have been a nice fit if the wires weren't so wide.
Yes I always do. I usually do old Panache bra wires because they are usually tall vertical wires and are super sturdy, but there are a number of retailers out there that sell softer wires in a variety of shapes and sizes.
ooh, maybe i should save the wires from my floris? they were a tiny bit wide, tho
Sorry if I'm getting way off topic here, but when you swap in the narrow wires, do you have to modify or gather the wire channel to make it fit? I'm picturing the fabric puckering because of the narrow wire.
Brash5 if the wire is the same length as the other wire I don't really have to do anything. Usually I choose wires that are shorter than the bra and I leave empty space under the armpit, where the wires tend to bother me more, and that works well for me. I also will tack the wires in place so they don't slide back.
As far as there being more room in the cup, because of my breasts they will fill any part of the bra available, so narrowing the wires just brings my boobs more to the front rather than squishing them under my armpits. I don't generally have empty space by narrowing the wires.
I'm not sure if I answered your question, so let me know if I didn't.
You answered beautifully, thank you! :) I have some extra wires and will give it a try with my next Elomi.
This is a taller, softer, better version of Elomi's Plunge with lace model. Great for average to tall roots. The gore is very narrow at top and bottom. The back band has a lace overlay which is pretty and also collects a lot of back fat near the armpit. The wide black part of the band is not a wide elastic but just a pretty feature. There is tons of projection at the bottom of the cup, which is wrinkled until I put it on. So deep I could probably size down, which I can't in the Plunge model. Band is tts, wires are very soft and comfortable. I highly recommend this bra.
My 4th Rita. I keep buying them as I get bigger, but sadly the scaling makes this one difficult to wear as the wires are so huge. Today's Elomis have much smaller wires. I want to modify this one to work better for me but I will have to experiment. If I could get this bra in fuschia again I would be so happy.
Edit: Alterations
Alterations on this bra were actually quite simple. First, I lowered the gore by cutting it down to the sheer material on the gore. This is actually a perfect gore height for me. I was considering sewing the elastic ...back to the gore and creating a fold in the sheer fabric but I worried it would make the bra too closed and cause quadding. Instead I cut the sheet fabric and elastic off at the scalloped satin edge of the cup. Then I put in new wires (Panache 30HH from some bra, I'm not sure which now) and folded the gore over and sewed to create an overlapping, narrowed gore. The straps were really long, and I had a weird triangular piece at the strap that was once attached to the sheer material so I cut the sidebar down to close to where it attaches to the cup and re-attached the straps there.
I really love the result. The cups are still too wide, but the band fits better, the gore tacks, the cups are slightly too closed at the center but fine everywhere else. The cups are the right height for me. The shape is nice and round and look great under clothes, even knits. Now I just want to find a good gorenament that will cover the surgery lines there. I feel opposite about "huge" wires. I need every millimeter of them, especially width. 😀 Love the Caitlyn/Cate/Rita styles.
dfe98we I have a bunch of really big and tall wires I can send you if you want to replace any in your bras! Just let me know the minimum width and I'll send you loads of them!
cupandahalf , that is kind of you, but I am not much for sewing and altering. :\
No worries, I'd just like to get them out of the house, lol.
I do love Elomi bras. I guess I'm a fan because they were some of the first to fit me when I started my journey to find a bra that fits years ago, when I was a different size. This one doesn't fit me, but I'm a fan of the satin fabric used for the cups. This frame is a shape mismatch. The wires are too tall and wide for me. I'm not a fan of the stretch lace on this one. I have a couple of the Elomi Kim Plunge Bra (4340) and the stretch lace is the same, I believe. It wears ...kinda funny over time. I prefer the stretch lace used in the Panache Serene bra. The cups aren't deep enough for the side support to do anything for me. My tissue just folds over on the side. The pattern for the Ebony colorway is just kinda meh for me. It's like animal print for beginners, I guess. The suggestion of animal print. Odd choice, but this was the one in stock in this size. Read more 76 more words
I normally wear in between a size 38K and 40J in Elomi bras. In this one, 40JJ is too big, and 40J is just right because it has been correctly graded for my size and the band is very true to size. See my review for 40J - Elomi » Tia Bandless Bra (4280)
Gorgeous!! The straps are very fetching. So glad this one is comfortable after a few tweaks.
