This is such a pretty bra. I don't think it's practical for me with the cross straps since they peek out of my v necks but it's so pretty and I would wear this design as a bathing suit top. Regarding fit, the usual issues of bottom wrinkles, top of cup gaping and wire in the arm pit.
Wrinkles on bottom of cup, slight gaping at top of cup. I like the lace on the top edge; since it's a little stretchy it seemed to 'form' to my shape a little and minimize the gaping a little. This is one of the better fitting bras I've tried, but I think I could do better. This would probably be a good 'daily' bra in that it's a little fun but not super extra sexy. I would probably look for a different print if I felt this was a keeper, since it reminds me a bit too much of a bathing suit.
FOB/Projected shape. Outside top of cups are baggy, outside bottom near wire has wrinkles. Cups/gore feels like it's a little too tall for my chest. Shape does not look flattering to me, especially under a top.
The gore is too tall and wide for me. It's comfortable at the beginning of the day, but I can hardly wait to get home and take it off. The cups are also too tall for me and so the tops end up empty and I have to go re-adjust. I also find that it cuts into my upper armpit (not the wire, the cup) and I tug at it frequently to relieve the pain. It feels like the top of the band (not the entire thing) creeps down through the day and pulls the top corner of the cup further into my armpit.
This Izzy is a pretty bra and fairly comfortable, which is saying a lot since I think it's probably at least one and maybe two cup sizes too small for me. My biggest issue is that the underwires are too short, and they cut/poke into my underarm breast tissue. (I'm approaching menopause and fat, and my breasts are pendulous, but my breast roots have always stretched into the underarm areas.) Also, there's no side-support boning in this bra, which I probably need. So rather than get this same bra in a bigger cup size, I'm going to look for a similar-cut model that includes better side-shaping.
Otherwise, I like this bra and it still fits better than any of my other bras (which are 42DDDs; I hesitated to jump up two cup sizes, but now I wish I had). I got it cheap enough on ebay, so I will keep it to wear until I have a few very well-fitting bras, and I may then just remove the underwires for a comfy and pretty around-the-house bra.
A DDD in American bras is the same as an E cup. UK sizing doesn't do DDD's, they call them E's. So you actually didn't go up any cup sizes.
Ah, that explains a lot. Thanks.
no problem. Did you do your measurements? If you want to go up one cup from your current DDDs, you'd look for F's. 2 cups is FF.
Yes, my tight rib measurement is 41.5 and my bust measurement is about 48-49, depending on the bra I'm wearing. The underwire on that Elomi is much, much smaller than the one on the 42DDD Playtex bras I've been wearing, though, so I may indeed look for an FF. Thanks for the input.
Do your overbust without a bra on - standing, bent over at the waist, and lying flat. Those are the parameters ABTF on Reddit uses - they also have an excellent bra size calculator. Do a perimeter measurement as well, BTB has a measurement guide that should walk you through that. Bras, especially poorly fitting ones, can distort your overbust measurement.
I've read about many different ways to measure, including the ABTF guide, but I've gotten pretty varied results at different sites. However, based on your recommendation, I just went through the ABTF guide again and it suggests a 42F/FF, so that will be my next purchase. I wish I could afford to order a handful of bras to try on at a time, but for now, I'll start with two. My town is quite small, so ordering online is my only option.
Now I just have to decide what style to try out first.
Thanks for your help.
You're welcome and I totally get the online thing. It's frustrating, I live in a tiny town and am on a budget too. But I had F/FF in my head for you and glad the ABTF calculator agrees. I think it's a good starting point!
I own the same bra in 42dd. Since it measures almost the same and fits almost the same, here is the same review I entered for the other bra.
This bra is pure quality. It came without so much as a loose thread, and the finish of the lace, seams, etc is perfect. I have been wearing it semi-regularly for about a month with no stretching issues and it is very comfortable. I read another comment somewhere about how this bra gives the commenter a little bit of a conical shape. I can understand that with the side sling compressing the side breast tissue somewhat and thereby projecting it ...a little. As a man, I like this, because it helps me fill out the cups in a more natural fashion. This bra is excellent.
The only difference between the two bras seems to be that the wires on the 42e reach a little further back, and so capture a little more tissue under the arm. Otherwise, the fit is almost exactly the same. I love this bra. The site says it doesn't fit because it wrinkles a little on top, but this is because as a man, I am not blessed with as much breast tissue as you women, so almost any bra will wrinkle on top for me. The bottom fills out perfectly. Read more 114 more words
