My stats for reference: 28GG/H, Possibly 26HH, still trying to figure out my ideal size, so here are my measurements: bratabase loose/snug UB: 28.5"/26", leaning bust: 39". FOT & Center, Tall & Narrow Roots, average to high set.
Look:
This bra is so pretty! I don't know why, but It reminds me of butterflies. It has lace on the upper cups, the straps and the lower cradle of the bra. It has 3 bows, 2 on the straps and one on the gore. This bra is so feminine and delicate looking that it almost makes ME uncomfortable. I bought matching high briefs from levana, I was so worried that they'd ...look like granny panties, but they don't! They make my hips and butt look absolutely amazing!
Fit: While this bra looks delicate, it's anything but. This thing is so supportive and firm. It's the bodybuilder of unlined bras, your boobs do not bounce on stairs or on a bumpy road, nothing. I wouldn't try to use it as a sports bra, but it's exceedingly good as an everyday bra. It has a very stiff lower cup and a very stretchy upper cup, so I think it works great for FOT shapes. The wires are a little wide for me and very firm. I get a really hard tack that's almost painful if I wear it while lounging on the couch all day. Read more 120 more words
The bra is so pretty on you and (albeit a little stiff) I'm glad it fits :) All the EM's I've tried have 2 x 3 hooks so I'm super jealous of your 3 x 4 set!
sincerity Thank you! I was so excited for the 3 hook closure! It makes everything a bit more supportive. What do you mean by it looking a bit stiff?
Ah, I misread! I'm glad it's supportive and firm :)
I just love this bra so much. I have it too but can’t deal with the wires under my arm :(
I’m glad it fits you! It’s such a gorgeous bra!
damaries Thank you! I think I just lucked out with this bra. I bought a 60H BM apricot that should've fit exactly like this but it didn't :(
I saw that :( It’s such a bummer when they don’t fit! I’m going to message you about that apricot BM 😬😬
I need an extender to wear this bra. See, my HP Nina in 65G is too small in the cup (by a tiny bit) and too large in the band by over two inches. Luckily, Ewa Michalak does special orders for no additional cost. So I erred on the side of too small in the band and too big in the cup, thinking that I could always use an extender and some bra inserts to make things right.
Because I overshot and need to use both the extender and the inserts, this bra is simply a different version of "good enough". My left boob is definitely not big enough ...to fill out the cup, but the insert (from the Cielus) takes care of that. My right boob is baaaarely big enough, and a thin ankle sock helps fill out the little bit of space. Balconette bras usually work well for my shape (heavy on bottom, relatively perky boobs but ones that spill overly much in a plunge). However, the gore fails to keep my boobs upright, not like CK Emily does, or the EM softcup halfcups do. And of course, the size of the cups makes things odd.
Quality-wise, this bra is lovely. It's absolutely beautiful! The band is firmer than the HP Nina, the straps smoothly adjustable (though the decorations go rather high, and I'm reaching the maximum tightness), and the synthetic lining smooth and gentle to my sensitive boob skin. I love the look of the lace over the teal/turquoise cups, and the fake ribbon effect on the straps. Nothing pokes; I think the cup width is perfect for me.
Were I to order this bra again, I think I would go for a 60 band, but I'm not sure about the cup. But Ewa Michalak continues to tease me with good quality bras at decent prices. If only I could go to Poland and try on an array of sizes myself!
EDIT: Success! In the week or so before my period, this bra fits. (I guess I had judged my previous EM order when I had PMS boobs.) So now, it fits wonderfully in my right boob and is very slightly too big in the left. A clean ankle sock fills out the space just enough, and actually, I wouldn't really need it if my shirt hadn't been so thin.
I still need an extender, and am somewhat worried about how the band looked after wearing it all day, seemingly thinner and rough. I hope this doesn't mean that the band is going to stretch out quickly.
I love the shape the Koktajl gives when I fill out the cups, and I felt supported and un-bouncy all day. Read more 337 more words
My stats: 26H/HH according to the ABTF calculator, slightly FOT, tall and narrow roots, center full, close set and high set.
The look: I love polka dots! This bra is pretty much exactly my taste look-wise, even though I wear nothing but neutral and boring clothes over it; isn't it funny how our taste in bras differs from that of actual clothes that the general public sees? Anyway, it's a bright teal color and has polka dot ribbon along the bridge and wings and bows made of the same ribbon at the straps and gore. The black dots on the ribbon seem to rub off quite easily. It ...has a 3x4 clasp (my favorite!) and the hardware matches the teal of the bra. I also managed to find matching panties in size 46 at levana which I somehow altered down to fit like a 36/38, they're a bit higher waited than they're meant to be but it looks cute and compliments the pin-up look that this bra gives off.
The fit:
The fit of this is pretty good. The band actually holds my S&S all day long! The cups are supportive and are neither quadding nor gaping. Now onto the negatives: The gore is a bit high and wide but it's doable. The straps are too far apart and the wires are also a bit too wide, so I may get a better fit in a 55H BM. Since this is discontinued I'm going to hold onto this one. Read more 141 more words
This bra jabbed and stabbed and was not wearable for more than maybe an hour tops at a time. Between the top half of the cups wrinkling and the wire inching down my ribs, it just wasn't going to work. I've passed it on after I received it from another bratabase user it didn't work for either.
The BM Porto came in my very first package from Ewa and I fell in love with it right away! I was very worried about buying a non-refundable bra in a brand I’d never tried before, but I’ve been really happy about how well it fits. Before I ordered, I spoke with Kaska about what cup size would be right for me based on my measurements and her fit advice was definitely spot on.
The wires on this bra are perfectly narrow and the cups stretch enough to fit even when my size fluctuates at different times of the month. Band sizes are the bane of my existence, ...but this one runs true to size and fits perfectly. The material and craftsmanship are of great quality – pictures don’t really do this bra justice. It’s even in my favorite color https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />.
There’s only one thing keeping this bra from being perfect – the straps. I find myself tugging them inward all the time, but of course they just keep sliding back to that uncomfortable spot at the edge of my collarbone, where they pull at my shoulders. As a result, it’s uncomfortable to wear this bra for long periods of time. So frustrating! Read more 101 more words
Wow, I had no idea they will still make 55 bands, I thought they stopped doing that!
This bra looks so great on you. Thank you for entering the measurements!
Looks great! The Porto is so beautiful. I’m glad it works for you aside from the straps.
Looks beautiful on you! Would rixie clips be an option?
Thanks!
@Wilderness1 I thought rixie clips were used to shorten bands? I have one clip (don’t know what it’s called) that I thought might work, but it always twists the straps when it pulls them together and it sticks out against my back.
I'm in love! It's a stunning bra and has a really luxurious look to it. You cannot tell from the pictures but it is actually a lovely emerald green colour, not turquoise.
This is the only bra I have ever worn that I can comfortably wear on the loosest hook. I'm not used to wearing a bra that actually fits my ribcage so it feels rather snug at the moment, but after a few wears I'm sure I'll be used to it. It's certainly not too tight as I can fit several fingers underneath the band on both sides. But it is very small even for a 26-band, ...it stretches to just 25.5" and that's when I really stretch it hard, so really it's more like a 24-band. As I'm 24.5-25" it's okay for me but it's certainly something to look out for.
The cups are amazing! They are the perfect shape for me and the under-wire perfectly frames my boobs. They are supposed to be half-cup but I have really bottom-heavy breasts and high nipples so for me a half cup really needs to cover more like 2/3 of my breasts to work, which this does. I still get a bit of cleavage but it would be much more if I wore a 26H, though then I might be spilling out of it.
My one quibble is the straps which I've actually had to adjust and resew, as they were way to wide-set for me. I've moved them inwards by an inch on each side and now it is much better. Read more 155 more words
I really wish this bra fit me. Like the other EM bras, it is well-made, with a firm band (that has just enough stretch), supportive cups, and nicely covered underwires that don't seem to be going anywhere. The four sets of hooks is great for those who anticipate fluctuations, and the gore is SO narrow! I love narrow, high gores, and this delivers.
The outside of the cups is covered with a slick, satiny fabric that gives it a more expensive feel, as opposed to the strange cups of the HP Nina. I like the lace edging, and the decorations on the straps, which don't impact the strap adjustment ...as much as I feared. The inside of the cups is a smooth, gentle cotton. My boobs often find every single bra itchy, so this is just what I wanted from my new bras.
The dark tan color shows against my pale skin, and is too dark to wear under a white shirt. The lace and seams *barely* show with my thin, clingy fabric. Someone with a darker skin tone would do just fine.
However, when ordering these bras, I overshot my sizing. So the 55 cm band is a little too small for my 65 cm chest. (The 65G Nina is much too big in the band, and a little too small in the cup.) This is fine with an extender. But the cups are a half size too big for one boob, and a full size too big for the other. The cut of the bra means that my boobs feel like they are swimming! (In my 55HH HP Koktajl, the bra pulls my breasts towards my chest, so this is less of a deal.)
My boobs are bottom-heavy, not full on top at all, and losing their firmness. I suspect that if I were more full on the top or had a firmer tissue, the too-big cups would be less of an issue. After all, I am too big for the next cup size down. Read more 225 more words
I'm considering special ordering 55/60 bands from Ewa. How did you find the whole process? I'm looking at maybe a 55HH/J or a 60H/HH. Any insight you have would be wonderful!
You do have to email them directly in order to make the special order, and it does take a full 14 days to make the bras. Barring a few translation errors (once they canceled my order because they thought I requested a cancellation), ordering has been smooth.
I'm selling the Toffik, if you're interested. I just haven't gotten around to taking pictures because my camera eats batteries.
Wow, thanks for the fast reply! I'm definitely interested when you are ready to sell. I'm not 100% sure it will work, but I'd love to give it a try! Thanks for the info on special ordering. :)
Whoops, I didn't realize I had already said something in my review about selling. I didn't mean to sound pushy.
Another thing I noticed about EM bras, that I articulated on a thirty-twod.livejournal.com post: The HP style holds you more in and together, similar to the Deco but with a higher gore. CH holds your boobs up and out. This means that if you're rounding your bra size down, you are more likely to get quadraboob with an HP than with a CH style. My 55HH HP Koktajl only feels a little too big, whereas this and the other 55HH CH bra (Cielus) definitely need pads! I don't know if this means that HP styles run smaller, or what. So that's something to keep in mind while choosing a bra. I'll PM you about the sale.
UK 28FF/G. My fit needs: projected, immediately projected, slightly narrow, fob with tall roots (functionally even), very close set, very center full. I'm sure this would be really projected and narrow if it were the right size. But this is like 2 cup sizes too big for me, so the width and straps were too wide, the top had so much room and the bottom was collapsing with the extra cup. But it's a very beautiful violet color.
I loved this bra! However my boobs shrank a looong time ago and i've been hording it in storage hoping they would grow back and I could wear it again - it's been like 5 years now and my boobs are still shrinking so it's time to pass it on.
I'm selling this bra for ~$35 USD, but haven't gotten around to taking photos yet. It just is too big in the cups and too small in the band to work.
The underwires are exactly what I need: just wide enough, firm, not poking into my armpits. The gore is high and narrow. The seams on the cups are vertical, and I feel very secure and supported. I just need the asymmetry correcting pads in *both* cups to get there. (And to tighten the straps.) For some reason, the pads correct more comfortably in this one than they do to the Toffik, which basically has the same measurements and ...cut.
The band is too tight, but not by a whole lot. I like a firm band, and the too-short-but-stretchy band is a fine approximation. It does get sort of uncomfortable by the end of the day, and I put a band extender in my purse in case it was needed. I like the three hooks, but it felt more comfortable when I didn't hook all of them.
The fabric seems durable. The cups are lined with soft cotton on the inside and a matte, satiny material on the outside. The band is actually a double layer the whole way through, but with stretchy material on the back rather than the firm interfacing on the wings part. The lace edging on the cups is pretty, and doesn't interfere with the strap adjustment or really show through fabric. The seams on the cups sort of do show through clingy fabric, but the color is just right against my super pale (Oregon winter + Scandinavian) skin. I can wear this with a white t-shirt.
On the week before my period: I walked all day wearing this bra, and noticed a good deal of subtle jiggling. This may be because my breasts are more sensitive right about now, but it could also be simply due to the construction of the bra: Because I'm held up and out, rather than inwards, there's more room to jiggle. A sports bra this is not. Read more 235 more words
