My first Ewa Michalak bra, so I was unsure which cup size to go for and seem to have opted one size too large (probably due to my previous bra, 38K - Royce ยป Charlotte Nursing Bra (822) sizing smaller than it should). Despite this I feel I am more than adequately supported and feel comfortable wearing this in public. The construction seems sturdy and the bra feels very comfortable even at first wear. The padded cup feels strange to tuck away while feeding but does not pose a problem, and clips back to the strap very easily compared to most nursing bras I have worn. The centre gore seems slightly taller than in the picture, but given that I am at the higher end of the cup scale that's hardly surprising.
The bra is supportive, comfortable, and gives a very pleasing shape. I would certainly buy this again, although obviously I would size down to 85JJ next time.
In this size range, the Porcelanka has a 4-piece cup (3 vertical seamed sections with a horizontal section on top), partially adjustable straps, and it fastens with 3 rows of 4 columns of hooks.
I've previously had a Porcelanka in a different size (70K), and this is unsurprisingly fairly similar. One noteable difference though is that the straps seem to be nearly .5 cm wider in this model. I'm not sure if this is a general design change owing to the difference between purchase dates, or a size specific difference.
The colour is described as cocoa beige on the website, and I'd say that's a fairly good description. I think ...it would be a very good match for cool-toned fair skin. It's not a perfect match for my warm-toned fair skin, but it's still low-key under light coloured shirts. The lace is somewhat problematic though, both because it's only been stitched on top so it can flip up during wear, and also the different colour and texture is often quite visible under a t-shirt. I'd say that the overall look is functional but elegant. It's not one of EM's prettiest bras, but it's still quite appealing for a t-shirt bra.
This is a larger sister size of my preferred size, so the band is too long, and while it doesn't actually ride up, the relationship between the straps and my back is all wrong, so there's giant loose sections between the underwire and the strap at the back of the bra. The wires, while not so wide as to be uncomfortable, are definitely too wide for my narrow rooted breasts. I've found the partially adjustable straps frustrating on two counts, firstly because they don't really alter to be short enough, and secondly, the front section which is made of the same light padding as the bra cup doesn't seem to be very sturdy, and often digs in and warps, despite the straps being overly long. The straps are also set much too far apart for my narrow frame, but this is sadly normal for bras in this size range.
It seems to me like these sizes which were part of the S size expansion have even taller cups in relation to the depth than existing sizes. This is a bit of a problem for me, because of how short-rooted my breasts are. If you look at the pictures, the bra easily looks 2-3 cup sizes too big, but my 70K is clearly 3 or so sizes too small in the cup (and is 3 cup volumes smaller). It's basically impossible to capture in an image, but I actually fill the bottom 2/3 of the bra perfectly well, and it creates slight uplift.
I'm going to attempt alterations, and plan to add some more notes to the review after I've worn the bra for a while. Read more 362 more words
I LOVE THIS BRA! My boobs have NEVER looked so good in my entire life. (not sure why it says the bra doesnt fit; it does.)
the cups are a fairly flexible foam-lined material, the fabric is very soft.. the band is quite stretchy. wires are pretty narrow, moreso than my first Ewa bra (KM Biskopty.) but similar to my PL Charlie in the same size. it seems like the cup might be a hair bigger than my PL in the same size.
LOVES: the top edge of the cup is slightly more closed than my PLs, and feels like it give a bit more support. The apex is a little ...higher than PLs, and it seems to provide more lift for my very large breasts. In this size, the gore on the S is actually the same height as the gore on the PL style, just the top outer edge of the cup comes a little higher by the strap -- not a whole lot, just about an inch or so. The overall coverage and height of the cup and gore and all are quite similar between the 2 in this size, the main difference is the shape and lift.
i LOVE the shape! very front-and-center, no east-westing at all, very uplifted, and it even manages to give my soft, pendulous boobs a lovely rounded mound shape above the edge of the cup -- i've never gotten that.. i suppose i do to a lesser extent in my PL, but overall, this bra is the best fit i've ever encountered. it's almost too small in the cups around 'that time of the month,' but it fits very well the rest of the time.. and i get a little more cleavagey-OOMPH with the pads in the bra. aside from period week, i might actually be able to do with one cupsize down, as i know Ewa bras tend to stretch... but i like the extra support of the pads in the bottom, and with them in, this size fits perfectly.
ISSUES: 1)the straps are only half-adjustable, and i generally need my straps tightened as much as possible, or close to it. non-adjustable part of the strap is very stretchy, and though it has been reasonably comfortable through the first couple of wears, they are stretching out, and i will need to shorten the straps at some point.
2)The band is extremely stretchy.. it's made of one thin layer of VERY stretchy, though very soft, fabric. I'm already between a 36-38 band, and i feel i definitely needed the 36 (80) in this style, and perhaps could have even worn a 34 (75.), though the on-site calculator recommended me a band of 40 (90.) HOWEVER, despite being looser than i generally prefer, the band seems to mostly stay put, as it's angled to sit lower on the back, and this does seem to help anchor it. i will most likely need to alter the band though, to make this a 36KK.
3)the gore/wires poke a little at the top, as if the cups tilt into my body at the top edge. i will likely bend the wires a little to better fit my body.
4) slight orange-in-a-glass wrinkling at the bottom of the cup, (which i get with most bras,) but the removeable pads seem to stabilize this wrinkling and add a little more support to the bottom of the cup. Read more 453 more words
