My shape: FOB teardrop with lots of upper fullness and shallowness that makes me functionally even allover, loads of immediate projection but only moderate overall projection, mid-height, center-set, with a small conical ribcage and super wide roots (on me, anyway), and very firm tissue that fights back when pushed around by padding.
This bra is kind of shallow in the bottom of the cups, but Fauve Magic means it doesn't matter on me, and I get a gorgeous rounded shape out of it instead. It is a little more minimized than I might want, but overall it's so comfy I don't care. I think it's also a little shallow right around the gore, but aside from a tiny bit of quadding when I stick my chest out, it's otherwise not noticeable.
The wires are lovely and feel like the perfect width on me. After checking with my fingers and wriggling around, they might be slightly wider than my Fauve Pearl, so the side fullness is a little more spread out in the side of the cup.
The straps are embellished! I love that sort of thing. They are wide and comfy and adjust plenty long for me.
I started out on the tightest hook, so the hooks are going to have to move. I'm pleased that it's so tight, because as I move into usually-28 territory, all my Fauves are starting to be too loose even on the tightest set. The top edge along the wings also rests flush against my underarm, which means that either the elastic is tight enough or the band is conically-cut enough for my silly ribcage.
Now I definitely need the other 3 colorways, if I can find them. Hooray! Read more 249 more words
Another lovely and comfy Fauve find https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Like Emmanuelle, Veronique, Annalise, Aurelia and Grace, Isla seems to fit more narrow and projected than the shallower set of Fauve half cups I've tried, including Marla and Isobel. The shape is great, very round but also compact. As always with this brand, I absolutely love the design and details, especially the tattoo-inspired purple flower motif and gauzy ribbon bows.
My shape: slightly shallow teardrop/FOB with super wide/tall roots and very close-set tissue in the middle
This review is for the Azalea colorway.
I won this bra from a sweepstakes entry (my review for the 32F - Fauve » Bronte Padded Longline Bra (0331) - my favorite!) I didn't even know I had entered. It's a lot more of a wine color than the stock photos led me to believe - I thought it was more purple with black, but it is decidedly a plum with grey lace. It's an odd combination, but I like it. It is hands down one of the prettiest bras I have ever ...owned.
So this is a weird one. I think the band must run big for the Veronique, because on the tightest hook it's comfortable but still feels like it's shifting a bit, especially when I raise my shoulders. It is definitely too big on the loosest hook. You can see in the photos how it angles up around my ribcage, even on the tightest set.
The cups are weird, too. For one, the straps are significantly farther out than on the 30F - Fauve » Marla Padded Half Cup Bra (0291) and the 30F - Fauve » Maya Padded Half Cup (0271) I have; they are a cup size smaller, but this is probably a full 2cm difference. That said, my larger breast is very happy: smooth line across the top, wires encasing all the tissue on the sides, wings tall enough, wire sitting in inframammary fold, etc. My smaller boob seems to be confused, though, because the underwire is migrating down, AND the top of the cup gapes.
The gore also digs a bit, but it's not as bad as the Maya. I think my sternum may bow out a little right above the bottom edge, and it's juuuust too low to sit right on top, because adjusting it up feels a little better, and makes my smaller boob's cup sit in the right place, but it also makes gaps in the top of both cups.
I noticed that the vertical cup seams seem a little straighter than in my other half-cups, like they're not carrying the weight of the breast the same way, especially toward the gore - maybe shaping is off? Maybe it's a little more FOT than the others? The fabric is also incredibly stiff, which could be contributing to the weirdness.
On to the excellent things: ruching on the straps! They are a little harder to slide, but I love embellished straps. And embellished bands! The lace-up appliqués on the sides and at the hooks are so pretty. No one ever does that! It is gorgeous. A+ design, I <3 Fauve 4eva
Oh, I bought the matching shorts in a size S, which is one smaller than I would usually get for my 40-ish inch butt (38.5"/98cm today, but who's counting) because the Ms were all sold out. They are cute and comfortable and fit pretty well, although I think they are just on the tighter side of perfect. Read more 403 more words
Flat black lace overlaying beige molded cups: lace doesn't show under a thin top. Cups are tall, wide and rounded (reminds me of the Freya Deco). Gore tacks well. Band is true to size; firm stretch. 3/4" straps are wide-set.
With Fauve being a discontinued brand and therefore very hard to come by, I found this sister size for the 32F (which was extremely high on my recommendations list). With previous 32" Fauve bands already being on the loose side I figured the 30" might work out just right. And it did. This one is much more supportive than the Fauve 32's I've tried. However, ...the trouble I have when sister sizing, is that by going up a cup size the straps become further apart, and then the cups cut into my armpits. The top of the cup also starts looking very strange. They're not so bad when I stand straight... it looks pretty good, but as soon as I move around, my soft tissue settles into the bottom of the cups and I get an odd gaping, more so on my smaller side. Because of the stiff cups, it's not forgiving at all for uneven sizes. And the gore is a bulky 1" wide, so my close-set shape isn't very happy. This bra sits very high on my short torso, even with the straps extended to their longest. They call this a Plunge, even though the gore is 3" tall...and it fits me more like a balconette. (My guess is they call it a Plunge because proportion wise, the cups are so much taller than the gore). But I also believe the cups are very open and designed for more upper fullness (or self supporting) than what I have. I will recheck the fit during those days when I am a little fuller. One other thing to mention, the wire width on this one is quite a bit wider than the averages listed here. The average wire width on both the 30FF and the 32F are narrower than this one I received. Maybe this one was mislabeled? I don't know.
For the record, I am 1/8" close-set, forward facing, FoT, but functionally FoB; soft tissue outside/very dense cystic tissue inside, settled (not pendulous), short roots, ideal wire width of 5.5" with 11" strap separation, low nips and 2-2.5" of projection based on leaning measurements (varies with how full I am).
Bottom line, this one needs a lot of upper fullness to make this work. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> Read more 320 more words
I was thrilled to come across an Annalise in my size recently... Fauve was discontinued just as I was discovering correct bra fitting, and I will forever lament not getting to try the brand earlier, because their designs were so incredibly elegant and lovely. I have to say, the quality of construction and attention to detail in this bra is exceptional and really lives up to Fauve's reputation. The base is a grey-lavender floral overlaid with the most delicate layer of transparent mesh, topped with ivory ribbons and lace lining the vertical seams. A teardrop pearl charm adorns the center gore, and little picot trim lines the entirety ...of the band and straps, which is a detail I especially appreciate, because many bra manufacturers create bras with pretty decorated fronts but sadly leave the backs entirely plain. Annalise is an absolutely gorgeous half cup with a very feminine, almost Victorian "shabby-chic" look to it, and I find the find the color scheme flattering against my pale winter skin!
The fit is quite excellent... in particular I'm surprised by the amount of depth in this bra, which I haven't found to be the case in other British half cups such as Freya's. The gore tacks, the band is true to size, and the very open top leaves plenty of room to accommodate upper and inner fullness. The shape is spectacular, round and uplifted but slightly minimized, very "purple," while the neckline creates phenomenal soft hills cleavage appropriate for everyday. The inner lining is very soft and comfortable. The wings of the bra are relatively low and non irritating, with a matching strip of lace behind the underwire also. The wires are noticeably a bit wider than my IMF, however they don't create a large empty pocket, compromise support or bother me at all.
I LOVE this bra. Off to scour Ebay to look for other Fauve half cups in suitable sister sizes... https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 222 more words
This bra is really pretty, but the band is way stretchier than I thought it would be, the cups are too big (should have known better), and the seams are really raised. I can't imagine being able to wear this under anything without show-through. The wires were nice and wide though-- I think a 30F or 28FF (if they made them) would have fit.
This bra is absolutely stunning. The pictures I took do not do it justice. The colour is vibrant, the detail gorgeous. It's honestly almost overdone, but I love it - the bows literally have bows on them. Ridiculous!
Unfortunately, it's a tad bit shallow for me. I quad-boob out a bit. I'm just going to call it cleavage, though, because I really can't bear to part with a bra this pretty.
The longline bit has two main spots of boning, which provides good support. The lace doesn't flip up much like some longlines have a tendency to (or at least, it doesn't on me).
Band runs loose, but not super dramatically so. Might be able to fit a 32, but would also definitely work for a 30. I could fasten it comfortably on the tightest hook, but get away with the middle without it riding up. Cups are true to size, but with the band looser and the straps loosened, I could get it to work on my 30G self. I love the subtle detailing. This and the Fauve Aurelia Padded Half Cup Bra (0191) are my first ventures into Fauve, and I'm definitely not disappointed in the quality and attention to detail!
Another gorgeous bra from Fauve! It stopped fitting me long ago (am now 28H/30GG), and has been sitting in my closet for a while. It gives me really horrible quadboob (I'd say a good 1/3 of my boobs pop out of the top now), which is unfortunate. It's very soft and comfortable with many delicate and pretty features on the cup. Love the little bow in the middle and the lace around the edges. The only annoying part of this is the lace is on the bottom band as well, and sometimes it gets caught and goes under the bra or moves on top of the wire. Easily fixed with some stitches in a few places if it's that annoying (I left it alone myself). In general, I am a big fan of Fauve, I just wish they made my size https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
I have to say, among the five Fauve bras I own, this model has a snugger band. Sure, I can stretch it to 30", but it does take a little more effort than the other models. Unlike the other models, I can wear it on the loosest hook and don't feel the need to wear it on the tightest set. So I can definitely say the band is snugger than the usual Fauve bras, while still fitting a true 30" ribcage comfortably (mine is 27").
The top of the cup is not as open, so I do have quadboobs when I pull my shoulders back. However, I think this ...situation is easily rectified by cutting the strip placed on the lace on top of the cup. That will make it less rigid.
The wire width is a little too wide for me, but it does not affect the fit so much. The gore is wide and tall, not as tall as Panache Sienna, thus it sits on my breast tissue. But I do have close set breasts.
The straps are fully adjustable, but there's embroidery on the front half of the straps, so you will need to tug a little when you come to that part.
The shape is perky pointy, I feel supported, and it does not give me the upside down 7 shape by the end of the day like Curvy Kate unpadded bras. Read more 124 more words
The band is loose for a 30 band which is normal for Fauve. Given that when I wear 30 bands in Cleo I get more support. During the day I find that the band tends to ride up on this bra. With Fauve I always feel the need to hook it on the smallest hook, as with Cleo I don't feel that need even though I can.
The wires of this bra are more narrow than Panache bras I've tried. But I would not call it "narrow cup". It is comfortable but I prefer it to be narrower, I feel like I get more support when it is tighter.
The cup ...shape is pointy/perky, similar to BIHAL's "green shape".
The quality is superb! I love the lace embroidery. It is definitely worth the money.
I cut all the inner lining of the cups to make it completely sheer https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> and the support has not been affected.
The straps are fully adjustable but there's embroidery on front part so you need to tug a bit. Read more 66 more words
Very attractive bra. In "frost" colour the bra is a delicate minty green with subtle, soft (in colour and to the touch) lace overlay in grey. The straps are wide and comfortable.
Unfortunately the shape does not work for me. The centre gore won't lie anywhere near flat. My breasts are falling out towards the middle (though not as badly as in some plunge bras I've tried, perhaps because the relatively high, non-tacking centre gore sort of catches them). The cup doesn't go high enough at the sides. I also had to immediately tighten the straps as much as possible.
Fitwise: Band - A true 30 band, which means, it's big on me since I need a 28.
Cup - The half cup is my favourite type, but it's shallow near the centre gore, thus the gore is about 3-4mm away from my sternum. If I push it to tack, I quadboob near the centre gore.
Wire - I'm confused by this one. The width is 5.6" - 5.7", which means it usually a good width on me. However when I put it on, I feel there's a little empty space on the sides. Also! I feel they are thick (that's what she said!). It hurts when it got pressed on my sides.
Comfort - Aside from the confusing wire, comfort is an A. It's really really comfortable.
I have a soft, shallow shape that makes it difficult to fit many bras. I previously tried this in a 30F and it was close but lacked room in the cup. The 30FF fits perfectly. It gives a very 'forward' shape, not east-west at all. The detailing is gorgeous and it fits very comfortably and is obviously well made. The sides of the cup are high enough to enclose me but don't cut into my armpits. I have no gaping on the cups and no quadboobing either.
Because of the lace and seaming it is NOT a t-shirt bra but would work well under more structured fabrics.
Absolutely beautiful bra and the materials used are top notch. The satin is soft and smooth (not thin, flimsy or cheap looking) and the lace is beautifully thick and sturdy. In every corner you'll find little details and decorative additions.
Next to the skin it looks amazing. This bra makes me feel like a princess. Or the daughter of a millionaire. Or the next Paris Hilton. Or something like that!
Very comfortable. My only complaint is that this is a 30 band and it's not available in a 28 (which I would probably prefer). That said, it's not a large 30 band and I can *just* get away with it. ...
I was right inbetween the FF and the G cup in this style. A fitter persuaded me to go for the FF even though it cuts in just a bit along the non-stretchy lace edge at the top of my bigger breast (you can see it in the side view photo).
I find that Fauve fits just like Fantasie and I wear a 30FF comfortably in this bra and do so in quite a few Fauve and Fantasie bras (but usually I start with a 30G or 28GG in other brands). Read more 90 more words
I love this style. I have tried on now twice in two different colors (Mint, Latte) and sizes and I believe I am a 30G although I cannot seem to find a color I prefer in my size (I'd love to find Amethyst or Bronze and very excited about SS12's "Ink" version). https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" /> Excellent design, gorgeous embroidery, this bra is very well made.
Band fits well - a good 30, a true half cup on my shape, straps are fully adjustable, center gore is comfortable at about a balconette height. I was browsing a local department store and they had this style so I thought I would try it, 30FF is just a bit small in the cup so there is extra tissue above the cup line.
That is stunning on you!
