First off: the color. It is not pistachio. It is a rich antique gold with green undertones, pale yellow-beige embroidery and lace, and palest yellow straps and trim. Very unusual! Second, the cut: no idea why this is called a plunge. The gore is pretty tall, and so are the cups. It's a pure balcony. On to the review! The band is not stretchy like some other Fauves. The materials and construction and comfort are all high-end Fauve level, it is certainly a luxurious, lovely thing. And exceptionally comfortable, satiny-smooth and soft against the skin. The soft padded straps are embroidered up the first half. The swirly vine ...embroidery is not thick, but does show under tight knits. The top lace panel is slightly stretchy, and does not cut in. I get a lifted, centered, natural look with a slight peak - not round apples, but not pointy either. The wires and gore are narrow enough for me, and come up high enough on the sides to pull in my outer fullness but not too high to poke. It is deep enough for my immediate projection, and deep at the apex also: holds a lot of boob quite securely. Not sure this bra would work well for shallow girls, though. I own Bronte in "jade" (it's blue, not green) also, and this is one of my favorite go-to unpadded bras for comfort, fit and luxury. Read more 127 more words
Oh, I loved this bra. I loved it the first time I tried it on. Shallow-friendly, giving a great shape, great uplift, and so pretty, with so many details. I got it in three different colours, and stashed them away for winter and thicker clothes the embroidery wouldn't show through. Pulled them out today and wondered whether I'd always had that much sideboob in those bras. To my great disappointment, I am listing the lot of them.
This was my first Fauve and my first half-cup, and it started my obsession with both. I now realize it never really fit me well, but it still makes me sigh just to look at it..
Being of the Summer/Patsy family, it's quite shallow at the wire and moderately wide/shallow throughout. Wires are stiffer than some other Fauves. Band is very, very stretchy. The decoration shows through just about everything. It makes a better boudoir bra, except in winter.
I am a Fauve fangirl, so you should probably take what I say with a grain of salt, but this is one superb bra. I am even, functionally FOB, close-set, side-heavy but narrow rooted with immediate projection. Fit: check. Support: check. Sophisticated Style: check. Fabrics: Check. Construction: Check. Comfort: Check. Snuggly feeling that under my clothes I am a goddess: Check! This Isobel balcony is a deep eggplant purple, with accents of cafe au lait embroidery and ribbons. It has side support panels bringing me front and center, and side boning to hold in the underarm bulge. Construction overall is excellent, with great attention to detail and finishing. The ...fabric has a delightfully soft, almost velvety feel to the skin. The sides are a strong matching powermesh, quite supportive and not binding. The straps are not very stretchy, fully adjustable and edged with picot, as is the entire band. There are embroidery embellishments at the clasp, which always makes me imagine a Someone undoing it in flickering candlelight (but that's generally how I feel in my Fauves anyway). The shape is natural, not round but not pointy; uplifted and centered. The gore is narrow; the wires touch at the top. The wires themselves are neither narrow nor wide and are in a perfect U shape. I don't feel this bra on like I do Cleos or Ewas, so the wires must be comfy! The top embroidered sheer mesh panel has cloth binding along the top edge, but it does not cut in on me, just defines the curve of my breast nicely. It does have a fairly high gore and pretty high coverage, but I don't feel covered up because of the sheer mesh and because it fits so well. For me there is no gapping at the strap or top cup as there is with plunge and full coverage cuts. This is my 3rd Isobel balcony, and they are all winners! The Isobel half cup / plunge was a horrid fit, though. Read more 224 more words
im so sad this bra doesn't fit! D: its seriously one of the most beautiful bras i have ever seen! there's all this luscious lace on the cups int he most beautiful slightly shiny blue and copper that sort of ombre's together, and the trim on the cups and band is gorgeous. its reminds me of baroque styled things and i love it so hard. plus, the band is made of this lovely, thick elastic that i want all my bras to be made out of. unfortunately the straps are just way too short, something ive never run into before. i also think the cups are a bit ...too small, which isnt surprising since ive been wearing 34FFs or 32Gs most of the time. i thought i'd try a a smaller size since ive had such gaping, and the depth seemed close to some other bras, but i quad a bit and would probably pop out even if i could wear it with the straps longer. the wires are a good width for me though, so if it were just an inch deeper i think i would be in the clear! maybe i will try a 32G and it will also have longer straps. Expected this to be more of an emerald colour going by the model photos, but it arrived and it's definitely teal, which is not a bad thing, just not what I pictured. I see now the colourway is sold as 'Peacock' which is simply a fancier name for teal. So that's that.
Band is too big, obviously, as I picked the sister size that was available. On the tightest setting the band feels okay, if only just a little loose. The gore is far too wide for my not really close set boobs. Fairly narrow and projected cups. It gives a nice, very uplifted but not entirely spherical shape ...(not Cleo round). The materials used feel more luxorious than other brands - for example the band is a soft satin rather than cheap elasticised mesh. It just feels a lot better on my sensitive skin. The intricate embroidery on the cups looks pokey at first but doesn't show through tops as much as you'd think.
I'll either alter it (narrowing the gore) or pass it on to someone else, haven't decided yet. Read more 72 more words
Took a chance on this bra because I was looking for a strapless bra and this was heavily discounted, but unfortunately it didn't pay off. Cups are entirely the wrong shape for my shallow breasts, so they just sit within the moulded cups and are not at all supported or restrained. Top edge of the cups barely even touches my chest. The search continues.
I probably would fit better in a 32 G in this particular cut, but I'm definitely straddling the line. The cups seem to run a bit on the large side by maybe a half size, and because I'm either a "large FF" or a "smallish G" in general, I went with the smaller cup. The bra is still comfortable and a pretty good fit (good support, no quadra-boob, can wiggle/jump/shimmy without having to readjust myself), and I'll get some good wear out of it.
The bra itself is lovely, aesthetics wise. Very classy and beautiful with an almost Victorian feel. There is a very pretty ivory lace accent over every seam on the cup which looks nice, but be warned: it DOES show through tighter/thinner clothing.
All in all, it isn't my holy grail bra, nor is it the most practical for every day. Still, it's going to see some serious wear from me.
Cons: it's new and I need the straps adjusted as tight as possible, so if the straps stretch I won't be able to tighten them enough. The upper, thinner part of the cups is a bit wrinkly, but there's also some bulging along the seam.
It wasn't cheap, so as it's not perfect for me I will send it back.
This is a beautiful bra that has served me well for years. I'm not even sure when I got it, but it was a long time ago. I've loved it the whole time- the embroidery is really pretty and the colors are light enough that it doesn't show under most shirts, though if the fabric is thin it will look lumpy because of the raised stitching.
Over time the band has stretched but the cups have remained pretty much the same, and the straps still have plenty of room for adjustment. I'd say it fits now more like a 34F than a 32FF. The fabric isn't terribly soft (except ...for the lining on the bottom panel of the cups and the back of the band, which is nice) but it's comfortable and doesn't scratch or poke anywhere.
I washed it with some garments in other colors and as a result the color of the bra has become kind of dingy, though there are no spots or anything that I can see. Some of the lace and embroidery has been a little roughed up but has held up surprisingly well. The white enamel on the hooks in back has partially worn off. Read more 91 more words
