As some of you may know, I've been stalking this particular bra for a little while. I've never tried anything from Fortnight before this set, and the only other bralette I own is from Old Navy, which has a very stretchy band and no hooks and eyes, although it is quite comfortable.
I'm super excited to be able to try this set (thank you annabellynn!) which includes both the longline bralette and the high-waisted briefs, size Large. Let's start off with the bralette! I was immediately attracted to this cut and colourway which is androgynous and minimalist and bold and amazing. This is a colourway that ... IMO is meant to be seen through shirts, and I'll be wearing it with plenty of light coloured tops this summer. It gives me a nice rounded and minimized shape with a subtle peak. The only appearance aspect that surprised me was that I received it and one small thread was poking out at the bottom of the left cup's seam. Not sure if this is due to manufacturing or if it's a result of the light usage it has endured, but it's not a big deal. It has four hooks and three columns of eyes, and I am able to wear it on any of the three settings depending on how snug I want it on any particular day. The elastic at the bottom of the longline (and at the waist of the briefs) is stretchy, but it is actually sewn quite small. My snug UB is 25.5", my waist is 25", and I am able to pull the back out a couple inches, but it's ultimately a lot more snug than I was expecting (not complaining though!). This longline is definitely sewn with a V shape ribcage in mind. The cups would be ideal for someone with a more shallow shape, but I can make it work just fine. I like the low V neck, but the inside edge of the cups does cut into my breast tissue a little bit (though not very noticeably since the bra is fairly stretchy). Because of its stretchiness, I do find that the bra can shift around during the day. I found myself readjusting my breasts in the cups a few times (though this could also be just getting used to wearing it), and I found that the band did slide up in the front and would fold slightly underneath my breasts. In general, however, I do find it comfortable and I am looking forward to wearing it often.
The briefs were a happy surprise! I honestly was not expecting them to fit. Again, the elastic at the waist is sewn quite small, and these are definitely the highest-waisted briefs I own now, so they sit at my natural waist, above my hip bones, and they stay put at my waist. The only part of the briefs which is slightly too big is the single-layer mesh in the upper back, directly attached to the waist. The two bottom halves of the briefs fit well. They are a layer of mesh which has been folded over to create the two edges, so it is doubled, but it doesn't create any pantylines and doesn't cut into my butt, which is always an exciting find! The briefs do tend to ride up a little bit because they're slightly loose, but it doesn't bother me that much. If I were to get the high-waisted briefs again, I would order them in Medium instead, I think.
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, and would be willing to buy more from Fortnight in the future!
