  1. If someone gave me the chance to design my dream bra, I'd probably come up with the Piper.

The shape it gives is perfect- round and lifted, with a perfect amount of cleavage (safe for work but still sexy).

The design is beautiful, pink but not too pink (almost apricoty pink) with a lovely floral print, and plenty of black accents. I feel the bra has its own personality: pink and frilly with a dark edge.

The longline enhances my shape, but presents a minor problem for my flared ribcage- the bottom tends to flip up towards the end of the day. I suspect this issue will rectify itself as ... the bottom stretches out with wear, and in fact this flipping has happened less each consecutive time I've worn Piper.

When I saw this bra I just had to have it, even though I suspected I wouldn't get much practical use out of it. Surprisingly, I can wear it under about two-thirds of my wardrobe. The seams lie flat enough that I can wear it under tight tops, and since they're vertical I don't mind if they show a bit under my thinnest tops, because they look like a feature of the tops, rather than like something sticking out from underneath. The only thing that prevents wearing it with more tops is the lace, which shows through more easily.

The only thing I'd change about Piper is I'd add more sets of hooks (it only has 2) to make it last longer. I love this bra so much that if I could guarantee my bra size wouldn't change I'd order another one for when this one wears out.

Update: contrary to expectations, I've found that over time the band flips up in the front more rather than less. I've decided I'm happiest if I just leave it like that once it flips, as I've gotten used to the feeling so it doesn't bother me any more, and the side and back stay straight so the shape isn't affected.
I also find the band in general is sitting slightly lower than it did at first, which causes my breasts to not fill the bottom of the cups (orange in a glass), and slight spillage at the top. It's still wearable, but if I ever buy another longline I'll size up.

This is my first longline ever. I really like the look of it but it's so dang hard to do up! I'm just going to keep messing around with it until I find the best way to do so. I got it in a swap and I think that if I had been actually buying it I would have gotten a 30 back. Luckily for me the 28 is Freya's typical stretchy band and it stretches to 29.5. There are 6(!) hooks and 3 rows of eyes which is very nice. The print extends all the way to the back of the bra which is very nice and ... all the trimmings are black. It's a nice, soft pattern that's not garish. The band is comfortably snug but flips up a little if I do something like bend over. The wires are a little wider than I need but not bad at all. I'm surprised the gore tacks because it is very wide at an inch. There's some overall wrinkling in the cups and on my right side I can't quite fill the bottom. I get a little quad on my right side too if I stand up straight but other than that it's a near perfect fit. Perfectly spherical and comfy. I think I was built for halfcups! The straps are wide and very long but comfortable with no digging. I get a nice subtle cleavage too. Another grip is the lace at the top won't lay down and I wish the back was a leotard back because I think it would look prettier. It looks a little awkward with the straps attached like they are. I was going to wear it as a crop top for drinks and such with friends but I'm not sure how actually comfortable I'd be with that. Overall, I'm very pleased with this bra. Just gotta figure out the best way to hook it up.

Edit: After wearing it for an hour or so, the band is either too tight or too constricting. I think it's the latter because it stretches to the perfect length. I must put this up for swap because it won't get too much wear from me. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

Longline bras (or even midi-length which is what this one really is) feel much more constricting than a regular bra due the the width of the band. Although you may be able to stretch it manually, on the body it will fit smaller. Most people actually size up from their regular size. If you love this one you'll want a 30 or possibly even a 32.

    • wendybien Thanks, I didn't even think about that. I assumed it would work because of Freya's penchant for loose bands but it never occurred to me I might have problems with tightness due to the length of the band.

    • 1

Yes even with Freya's stretchy materials a 4-5" band will have more "pull" than a regular bra band.

It fits a little tighter than the Freya Patsy Padded Longline Bra (1222), and the cups are a bit smaller. In the Patsy, I find that the top of the cup gaps unless I scoop and swoop quite vigorously. In this one, I quadboob a bit after S&S. I find that there's not nearly as much projection in this one as well. I'd recommend the Piper for the more shallow-breasted ladies, and the Patsy for the more full/projected. Still, though, this bra is oh so cute and a little quadboob will not stop me from wearing it. <3

    Fits

I was so excited to try this bra - and I was not disappointed! I normally fit in a 28E, but since it isn't available in the AW2012 style (super excited for the new blue one in 28E) I opted for a 30DD. I'm definitely satisfied with the band. It stretches to 30" (so it's true to size) for me but I find it to be quite snug, even with a 27" underbust. I assume it has something to do with the fact that it's a longline. The gore is surprisingly very comfortable, usually I have to bend it outwards in a new bra. I fill out the ... cups well but seem to get a bit of quadboob when I inhale. It isn't enough of an issue to size up or anything, it's just because of the angle of my chest. The cups are open enough on top for my (mostly) even, somewhat shallow breasts.

The bra itself is so pretty. I just love floral prints, along with pastel colors, and this one is no exception. The watercolor-like print is gorgeous against the light pink color. The little polka dot bows are super cute too, especially the ones on the straps! I really don't have any complaints about the appearance of the bra - I absolutely love it.

A minor complaint is that the band bunches and flips up quite easily. It's not a huge deal to me, but some might have an issue with it.

I am pleasantly surprised by the band of this longline. As somebody who usually wears 28 bands (and loves longlines), I daresay that I almost don't have to alter it. Unfortunately, I have soon become a sub 28 band (26.5" now) and the 30 band is really unacceptable. I recommend this to 29" and maybe 28".

The print is lovely. I imagine a goth princess, an antique dress collector, or even a Japanese lolita trend-follower wearing this longline - definitely a crowdpleaser. The color scheme and the floral is not tacky in any way (I am very sensitive to things like that). The ... fabric is soft and the powermesh sides are nice and firm.. Even more firm than the same size in a Freya Carys longline.

The back band closes in 2 rows of 6 hooks. I must admit, the 2 rows does leave more to be wanted, but I feel like the firmness of the band makes up for this.

The vertical seaming on the cup is wonderful for full on top/shallows and, to me, the Freya padded halfcup style is unrivaled by the Freya unpadded balconette styles. (However, I did briefly try the Freya Ginny and I can't say the same about the diagonal seam on that padded halfcup).

*** Also, the straps aren't the traditional ugly Freya straps. They match the pattern on the bra body and they're smooth and thin with a slight padding - very comfortable and don't dig in!

This is gorgeous, but I have trouble with the underwires in front because of my pectus carinatum.

While I love the look of this bra, it does have some fit issues on me. I wish they would make this in a GG cup as I do get a bit of spillover on the top. I thought since this was a balconette shape it would be ok even it was a bit too small, but no such luck. My smaller breast fits fine but the bigger one not so much.

The center doesn''t sit completely fluch on my skin, I think it's both because the cup is too small and that the center gore is a bit too wide for me. I can usually fix this ... by altering the gore but since this is a longline, I don't think it would look too great.

I had also hoped that the bra would be a bit longer, if you don't have a completely flat stomach, the edge of the botom in the front tends to flip over when I sit down (doesn't help that I tend to hunch over either)

If Freya continues to make this style, I might try it in a 34G in the future. Depends on how much the band will stretch out on the 32G that I have now.

  8. I tried on this bra in a fitting room at Nordstroms, so sadly I haven't got any measurements.

The fit was extraordinarily flattering and supportive with great uplift. If you dislike back fat, this would be the perfect choice. Mine (though I don't consider it a "problem area" ) disappeared without a trace. The only pressing fit issue that I had with this bra was that the straps were a little off, either very slightly too close or too far apart. My only nitpicks included the way that my not-terribly-long torso caused the extended band to crinkle up a bit. If you've got the time for 6 hooks and a fancy for nonstandard floral print, then you should buy this bra.

It was a very supportive fit all around, but one that I'd never experienced before, so it felt comfortable, but weird. Nonetheless, I'd definitely buy it if I had the financial ability.

Pregnancy and longlines don't mix, so I've had to temporarily retire this bra. It never quite fit me even before I was pregnant, but I think it will probably work at some point in the middle of the postpartum weight loss process, when I can still fill the cups but don't have the belly anymore.

This bra unfortunately suffers from the band flipping problem that Freya longlines typically have. I've never had a perfectly flat stomach, but I wouldn't think I should have to size up in the band just for that - it's not too tight otherwise.

Other reviews I've read say this cut is wide and shallow, but I don't find it particularly so. The measurements seem to agree - a 1.6 depth ratio isn't that different from most other bras I own that people don't say this about.

First of all, it is super pretty.

I wear my bras without underwires nowadays because of my weird ribs, and this one gives the most lift and hold.
I also like the way the band is made, it has a completely unstretchy mesh underlayer at the front, and stretchy but pretty firm mesh at the back.
