Rhea is another addition to the Freya Fancies line. It is, for all intents and purposes, Fancies with an embroidered upper cup and standard band construction instead of the gate back. While sometimes styles based on other blocks will end up fitting differently due to different materials used, I feel that Rhea and Fancies fit almost identically despite some construction differences.
Since Fancies is probably my favorite bra ever (judging by the fact that I own 8+ of them), I was so pleased to find out that Rhea shares the same block. There was virtually no info available at the time I ordered it, so I ... just bit the bullet and ordered blindly thanks to Amazon's free returns policy.
Like Fancies, Rhea is a 3 piece cup made from lightweight rigid lace. The pattern is different, as Rhea has a more traditional rose pattern on an open background. The upper cup is the same rigid lace embroidered with pretty pink and green wild roses, but thankfully lined with soft tulle to eliminate scratchiness against the skin. The upper edge doesn't have stretch, but is fairly flexible. This differs from Fancies, which has an upper cup made from super lightweight stretch lace with a band of soft stretch elastic, but I find that they fit the same. I think this is because Fancies is such a good cut on me, but YMMV depending on your roots and how the upper cup fits you.
The band is a nice sturdy stretch mesh plain band, similar to Cleo Marcie, Lucy, etc. Back hook panel is on the wider side, and I feel that the band runs TTS for Freya bands. The straps on Rhea are much narrower plain elastic, and there's a small section of a twinned satin strap in the front for appearances. I wish they had used a wider elastic or textured elastic, as I worry the straps will slip easily. The other odd detail is that instead of a bow, the center gore is decorated with . . . a small piece of ribbon looped through a rose gold bra slider. Why??? There's no rose gold hardware anywhere on the bra, as all the sliders are black plastic. And why a slider as a detail??? Despite Freya's penchant for unusual center gore decorations, this one takes the cake.
Anyway, despite some minor annoyances, Rhea is a pleasant surprise and a welcome addition to my collection.
