For those just starting out in the 'find your correct size' world - I would really recommend looking at the Freya Deco line. If you were like me and shopped almost exclusively at Victorias Secret before this, you've probably owned your fair share of molded cup bras.
The molded cups of the Deco Honey are soft, lightly padded and feel very similar to what I was wearing at VS (although in a size they don't make of course! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":p" /> ). Those cups might run a little big. I bought a 36FF because that was what was most comfortable in the shop in ...the majority of the Freya line, but I could probably do a 36F if I wanted it a little more form hugging. The wires are stiff but well insulated.
The band is pretty firm to start with (I'm using an extender on my 36 band for a first couple weeks) and the material is of a very good quality. It should hold up long-term well.
The straps are super comfortable. I feel like they have a bit more width or padding on them than my other Freya, even though the numbers say they don't.
Overall, another step in the right direction for me! Read more 100 more words
This fit is pretty great for me overall. The straps are a bit far apart, so they slide off sometimes, but if I tighten them down a bit that helps. Occasionally the gore doesn't tack, but I think that's because the wires are softer than my 36FF - Panache » Envy Balconnet Bra (7285) . That's not necessarily a bad thing though. I like that extra bit of flex and they seem to conform to me better that way. Less digging in at the underarm, for sure.
I think this bra is a bit stretchier in general than ...the others I've gotten so far. We will have to see how it holds up over time. I did get it used, so I expect that it's had a bit of breaking in done already, which is kind of awesome, because now I don't have to wait that out. LOL.
As a general observation, I think balconettes are my style. Like THE style for me. Because there's less cup up top. I've heard they're good for FOT/tall roots for that reason (more free space), but I'm even with short roots and it kind of has the same effect? (less cup up top that I can't fill, lol) This isn't as "pointy" as some balconettes, so that's nice.
I'm also excited to finally add a padded bra to my collection! That combined with the pastel colors means it can go under my light blue uniform shirt. Sure, the seams show a tiny bit, but at least things stay put. This decreases the urgency of my hunt for a t-shirt bra, at least for now.
Also, this pattern is kind of obnoxiously cute. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" /> Read more 185 more words
I love the look/design of the Freya Marvel, but this was one of the strangest-fitting bras I have tried. Its wires are ridiculously wide, wider than the Freya half-cups, though actually not uncomfortable. However, such wide wires means the bra didn't do much for my side-heavy shape. It's got quite a lot of depth in the top half of the cup. However, the bottom of the cup is at least as shallow as the Freya half-cups if not more so, and my FoB soft breasts caused orange-in-a-glass effect almost immediately. When I tried sizing up to a 36G, there was no gain of depth in the bottom of the cup, only in the top half! This bra sadly didn't work for me, but I bet it would probably be good for FoT girls.
I wanted very badly to like this bra, and even invested in the matching brief. Luckily, it's a pretty awesome bra. I am newly digging unpadded, unmolded cups, and Dolly gives a very natural, teardroppy like shape. The stitching has a cool 80s retro feel, the pattern is nice, and the construction is awesome. Overall, I love this bra.
Also, I wear 38G and the 36FF fits nicely with no tightness, quadboobing, or gore floating. Happy I got it!
Both the band and the cup on this bra seem to run a little small. In addition, this may be due to the improper fit, but the cup material seems quite flimsy - it's not really up to the task of holding the girls up. The perhaps overly-stretchy straps and thinner back band combine to make this a bra that, for me, pinches and lets me jiggle all at the same time - not the best look.
Has scalloped strap edges to prevent strap adjustments from slipping. Too much side boob and quad boob. The wire seems to be wide enough, horizontally, but too low vertically so that my armpit tissue isn’t enclosed at all. Seems to have much less lift than needed. I returned this bra.
The offbeat side support bra does not work for me, because the gore is too tall, so I decided to give the plunge version a try.
here are some differences between those 2 bras: Freya Offbeat Side Support Bra (5451) -2 hook or 3 hook closure - double layered cup - stretchy lace upper cup - 4 part side support construction - taller gore
Freya Offbeat Plunge Bra (5452) - has only 1 (!) hook to close at the back. It looks kinda cute though. - single layer cup / more sheer - lace on top is sheer but not stretchy - 3 part plunge bra construction - lower gore
The Plunge works ...better for me, because the gore is lower and does not hurt me. The cup shape is good, it give a bit a more natural shape compared to the very round shape of the side-support bra. I am on the fence about the 1 hook construction. I don't have heavy boobs that need a ton of support but it feels a bit too lightweight still. Also the band is too loose for me and I already wear it on the tightest setting. I chose the sister size to my usual 34G because I wanted to have this macaroon / yellow colour way so bad and it was already sold out in most sizes. If I ever buy another one of these I would buy the 34G. Apart from that I really like this bra, it's comfortable enough to wear all day and looks really pretty! Read more 143 more words
Not as soft as the idol fabric. The band fabric is a little scratchy, and the molded cups don't hold their shape as well as the idol. The cups on this one tend to get dips in them that are almost noticeable through some shirt fabrics. The dark grey with pink lace color is very pretty.
This was my go-to bra for years, but gravity hasn't been kind and the shape isn't great on me anymore. I can't fill the bottom of the cups, but the rest of the fit is ok. Slight quad-boob action but would probably go away with one cup size up. I do wear this on the tightest hook.
fabric is somewhat scratchy, especially where my skin touches the polka-dotted lace fabric. cup size is too small right now. I don't fill the bottom of the cups because I have slightly projected shape.
So far, I think this most recent purchase is my favourite fitting bra that I've ever had.
A bit about me: I have wide, short, high roots. Higher than average projection, with soft tissue. I'm technically slightly FOT but functionally FOB, so it kind of evens out. I'm pretty close set, and have pretty balanced inner/outer fullness. I think I have pretty average shoulder width so I never have issues with straps falling down. One tricky area for me is my Tails of Spence. Without a bra, they are noticeable, but when I have a bra on and am properly supported, because my breast tissue is soft and ...my roots are high, I get quite a pronounced fold in the tissue between the top of my breasts and the ToS, and the ToS tissue sticks out a bit more. I need to be able to encapsulate it within the bra cup/apex/strap, or else I'll get terrible chafing.
This bra is the first high-apex bra I've had. I'm not sure if I even knew high apex bras existed before this - and as for plunge - I just assumed that plunge wouldn't work for me because of issues I've always had with breasts migrating out from the cups towards eachother to create vertical quad-boob (I know now that was because I'd tried the mass-produced bras without proper cup sizing).
Here's what I like about the bra and why I think it works for me:
- I love that it is non-padded, and made of lace and mesh. I sweat a lot and especially in the summer, this bra is surprisingly cool to wear, temperature-wise. It's so breathable and the cup fabric feels like there's next to nothing.
- I love the multi-part construction of the cups, and the non-stretch lace makes me feel very secure and supported - I almost feel like my breasts don't move!
- I like the nicely rounded shape this bra gives me. Because I have soft tissue, I'll take on the shape of whatever I'm wearing. The bra has slightly more projection than I'm used to, so my shape is a bit more natural than the higher/round shape I get from demi-cup balconettes I usually wear.
- I usually have to shorten the straps a lot on any bra, meaning that my bras are more likely to show when I'm wearing certain necklines. Since I wear a lot of v-necks, this bra being a plunge makes the bra a lot less obvious.
- I don't get any indentation or horizontal quad-boob at the top of the cups. Probably a combo of the edging material, and my being functionally FOB and short rooted. I fill out the cups close to perfectly.
- The cups are wide enough for my wide roots, and even though my roots also sit higher, I don't get as much chafing under my arm (where the underwire ends) as I've had with other bras that I wore when I was 30lb lighter. I still get some chafing, but I stop noticing it after a while. In comparison, when I wore 34F in Chantelle's Vendome, Merci and Opera Demi Bras, the underwires would dig in under my arms and get more uncomfortable throughout the day. I'm going to have a look at my old bras and see if the underwires are wider, longer or higher compared to this 36FF Freya. Hope to update this review with some measurements.
- The straps and the band don't have as much stretch to them as my other bras, but I prefer that. I have a lot of "padding" on my body, so a stretchier band or straps would allow for too much give, meaning I'd feel I'd have to constantly tighten them throughout the day. This bra doesn't need band or strap adjustments - the fit typically stays the same all day.
- The straps are somewhat wider than what I'm used to - good comfort-wise, but I normally prefer narrower, more decorative straps for appearances under certain clothes. Since these have a bit of embellishment with the loops, I don't mind it as much.
- The apex area is my saving grace - it contains my ToS, so it's great comfort-wise - no chafing - and much better appearance-wise when wearing clothes that are sleeveless and/or have larger arm holes. When my ToS aren't apparent and that area looks streamlined, it noticeably makes me look slimmer.
- The overall shape of the bra and the fabric means it can sort of pass for a bralette, so I don't mind it accidentally peeking out of my clothes.
If I were to change anything about this bra, I'd:
- make the straps a bit narrower and decorative - add a J-hook - narrow the gore a touch - it sits flat on my chest, but presses a few mm on either side into my tissue (though I don't actually feel it) - make it in more colours - standard black, white, nude, and maybe some seasonal fun colours
I'd love to find other bras that fit similarly to this one. If anyone has any suggestions for bras to try, send them my way! Read more 743 more words
If it was bigger and the fabric wasn't so scratchy, this bra would be one of my favorites. Cup needs to be larger, band smaller. Cup shape is very flattering.
This bra's measurements have been altered
Cut decorative bow off center gore. No functional changes.
If you are a G+ cup, if you lean forward, your boobs will tumble out of it--it is at least a cup size too small. And even if the bra was large enough, the physics of any "half-cup" bra is a non-starter at this boob size. (My size is ~34H). This may work well at an F cup.
I have splayed shallow FOB breasts. The fit is very similar to the Freya Fancies plunge bra. It gives me a front and center uplifted profile. I'm flat on top and get very minor wrinkling of lace at the top. The gore tacks. While I feel supported there's noticeable bounce when I walk quickly. The straps are a bit scratchier than Fancies and similarly angled outward toward my shoulders. I have fairly wide shoulders and can see someone with narrow shoulders having trouble keeping the straps in place. I like that only the top of the cup is lace because I've had issue with nipple chaffing in fully lace cups. The design is sexy playful and very pretty though not nearly as locked in place as other bras like Panache Envy.
Love the look of this bra and I adore the back! It is unusual for me to find a bra that isn't locked like Fort Knox in the back. The gore lays flat, the band is fairly stretchy, the straps are fully adjustable, and the bra is comfortable. I do get a little bit of quadding along my larger breast. It is t enough for me to get rid of this pretty bra. I will need to look for a smaller band soon though.
Absolutely beautiful bra that will work with someone with more even fullness than I am. I am fairly flat on the top of my breasts, which causes some rippling in the top of the cup. It's not enough to be a deal breaker with this particular bra, but it is definitely not the perfect fit for someone in my shape-- wide, low roots, full on bottom, not very full on top. The underwire does seem to be of average width, though I have heard Freya's plunge balconies tend to be narrower-- it doesn't seem to be the case with this bra.
I find the band quite stretchy, as such it doesn't feel like as much of a solid base of support. The wires are a good length, but the gore doesn't' tack as firmly as some of my others. I'm finding with this shape that the straps are a little wideset, so I have some digging in the sides. I'm just now figuring out my proper size and what shape I am, so it's a bit of trial and error. I do like this, and it fits well enough, and vastly better than my old bras. The material feels a tad scratchy, or cheap, but that has improved a bit with washing.
Bought it because I love the Freya Deco's, unfortunately the cups were a bit to big for me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
I love that these bras are fairly low, and the way the vertical seaming gives me a more rounded look. The bra is slightly shallow in the bottom of the cups so I do get some horizontal wrinkles (but they don't show through clothes). My biggest problem with this bra is that it might be too low cut to keep my boobs from jiggling, which I didn't think about while admiring it in the mirror. I know these bras are great for the FOT boobs, maybe not so much for the S & O (softer & older) ones. Another learning experience (and it is a really cute bra!)
I actually really like this bra despite the fit issues (end-of-the-day quadboob and the short wires) - it gives me a rounded, up-front shape that reminds me a little of what I get from the Parfait Charlotte. The cups are low enough to wear pretty much anything without showing, and the side support panel means the straps aren't way under my arms (yay). I do get a little Marie Antoinette push-up thing going on which I love! I know the fit evaluation says the bra doesn't fit but I would in fact buy it again - it works for me where the full-cup styles might not.
I like to have three hooks. I could not survive with only one hook.
