This is the second version of Freya Unchained that I've tried, as I tried the Unlined Plunge last year in 28DD but found it unsuitable for my shape due to its tall cups. I have recently been really into Freya's padded styles, and wanted to give this a try. I didn't expect to like it, but I actually really like how it looks and fits on me! However, there is one big problem with this style--the wires are terribly uncomfortable because they are so ridiculously firm. Unfortunately, because of this problem, I won't be keeping this bra.
This is a 4 piece cup, with a ... 3 piece bottom and horizontal upper piece. It is very similar to Fearne, and measures almost the same, although this exact bra measures just slightly larger in the cup than the 28E Fearne that I tried a few months ago. From what I remember, all my 3HC Freya bras have flexible wires, but all the 4 piece cups have very hard wires (except the Escape Lace that I recently acquired). Both cup shapes fit me, but the hard wires are pretty unbearable, so I have very few 4 piece cups in my collection. Even though the band fits and is TTS, the wires end up rotating inward and dig in at the center gore and outer cup.
Right now, since I am between 28E and 28F, I am finding the cup volume a little too small for me, but it fits TTS for a 28E. The upper cup is just slightly closed off, so this cuts into my upper fullness, but it would not be a problem if it were exactly the right size. However, the cup width is fine, assuming that the wires were flexible enough to stretch horizontally. The only thing I would change is to add more room into the upper cup to fit my current size. It's a bummer that this is unwearable for me right now, because it gives a really nice rounded shape with more projection than their 3HC cuts. I also really like the appearance and styling of the bra on, as it looks a little more elevated than a standard black bra, without being too crazy. I may try this again in a 28F if I can get my hands on one.
The fabric is embroidered mesh with all over daisies. Since they are all the same color, it can be hard to see the daisies on the black colorway, but they do have a bit of shine to them thanks to the embroidery thread. The embroidery is not particularly soft, but also not scratchy. The upper edge of the cup is trimmed in black ric-rac elastic, which is a bit stiff. The band is simple black powermesh, and is comfortable and TTS. Straps are textured elastic with scalloped edges, and taper into a gentle leotard back. There's a small opalescent crystal rondelle tacked to the center gore bow, which is super petite and delicate, and the little bows are repeated at the strap attachment. This also comes in a hot pink colorway called Pop, but I think the black looks much more elegant and to my taste.
If you are projected and fine with narrow wires, then this might be a good option for you.

I enjoyed your post! Never knew about going up a cup with a half-cup style! Thanks.
