I've been on the hunt for lightly padded bras since there's been a cold snap lately. I had previously had luck with the 32JJ-K - Full Embrace » Lounge Bra (-) after sizing up 2 cup sizes from my usual 32J, so I had hoped this strategy would work for the Essential Balconette. The Amazon listing also advised going up two cup sizes for a better fit, so I went ahead and ordered it in a 32K UK/32O US. The photos of this bra in the imperial purple colorway look completely black, but when it arrived, it turned out that the foam ...cut-and-sew cup are black, and the wings are dark purple with black lace overlay. Unfortunately, this bra did not fit me at all. The gore didn't tack, and the wires were sitting on breast tissue at the center. The wires were also too wide and tall, so they poked my armpits. I'll probably still keep it, since I'm desperate for something warm to wear over the next couple of weeks, but I've also ordered a Comexim bra that will hopefully show up this weekend. Edit 02/11/21: After wearing this a couple times, I like it a lot better. It still doesn't fit, but it's more comfortable now that I've broken it in, and helped me stay warm went I went outside. It also doesn't look too bad under a sweater. Read more 135 more words
I normally wear a 32J UK in Panache and Curvy Kate bras, so I ordered this in a 32HH-J UK. It definitely runs small, to the point where I get quadboob and/or side boob, depending on whether I bother to swoop and scoop or not. I reordered this in a 32JJ-K UK, which fits much better.
This brand is new to me - and they have a 30JJ-K option? Be still my beating heart! I see you say it’s not very supportive. Do you find the band takes most of the weight or do the straps tend to dig in? That seems to be the biggest issue with all the wireless bras I’ve tried.
The band takes most of the weight. I'm short, and I generally leave the straps fairly loose to keep them from digging in.
Wow - that’s wild. I’ll have to give this one a shot. Thanks for the info
Super comfy lounge bra, go up a dual cup size for best fit
I normally wear a 32J UK in Panache and Curvy Kate bras, and I initially ordered this in a 32HH-J UK. It definitely runs small, to the point where I get quadboob. I reordered in a 32JJ-K UK, which fits much better. Both sizes hold everything in, and are very comfortable to lounge and sleep in. I even wear this during videoconferences from home under my T-shirts. There is a little support, but it also gives uniboob.
This was awful. I ordered this looking for something to sleep in and it looked so promising. I typically wear the equivalent of 30JJ, or 30N. The two things I liked were the band, and that this pulls my boobs up front.
However, despite the label size, it cut into my boobs intensely. I feel like to wear this comfortably you would need to be closer to a GG/H cup. I only wore this for about 10 minutes at most, during which time it went from pretty bad quadboob to straight up looking like a cat or something, it like cut each boob in ...half. It hurt so bad. Also while I liked the firm band, I needed help to pull it off of me.
One other note: on the product photos I thought the drawstrings went up to the top, but it actually goes from the band to the middle of the bra. And there simply is not enough room in the bra to adjust the drawstring while it's on. I think it would have been slightly comfier with it drawn tight, but I couldn't make it happen while it was on my body and since I needed help getting out of it I definitely wasn't putting it back on to try again.
