    Didn't fit

    This bra is a bit of an enigma to me. It fits very badly from a technical standpoint. The wires are too wide and low, the cups are too shallow and separate, and the straps are very slacky. But it is very comfortable, very supportive, and gives great cleavage in spite of all this.

    I love this bra. I'm deeply confused by it, but I love it. I'm not sure if it would be like this new, as I bought it used. But I'm glad I got it and it's satin counterpart. They have served me well.

    This bra is much more giving and relaxed than the satin plunge. The band is more stretchy and the straps are more giving. I like the fit of the lace version more, but both are good bras, in my opinion.

    I love the silky texture of this bra. It's the kind of bra that's always cool to the touch. I like that. The band feels nice and firm, and the straps are super smooth (I hate textured straps. Hate!) which makes them comfortable.

    The raspberry color is stupid. The huge amount of padding is stupid. The pointy shape it's molded into is stupid. The fact that a G-cup bra has only two hooks is stupid. The huge amount of gaping I have at the top is stupid. It also does the cutting-into-the-fronts-of-my-armpits thing. And it seems to angle my boobs well away from each other, so that sometimes they rub against my arms, you know what I mean? Like my boobs are pulled out so widely that I occasionally feel myself up accidentally because they are just there.

    In spite of all the stupidity, I wear this bra sometimes. I should hate it, I should go down a cup size, I should do a lot of things, but I've had waaaay worse bras. So there's my not-exactly-ringing endorsement.

    Super flexible wires make this bra just not work for me. Too bad too, because the unstretched width is perfect (5.5"). However, I did make the mistake of ordering the 30G thinking it was US sizing instead of UK, of which the tag says is a 30I. (What happened to 30H?!?)

    * Good for tall roots.
    * Despite the super sheer fabric, there's not a lot of stretch in the fabric, so prominent nipples are minimized. But everything will show under light colored clothing, of course.
    * Gives a very "natural" profile. Rounded, but not a lot of lift.
    * Very plain, utilitarian looking bra. No bows, lace or adornments.

    There are pros and cons associated with losing a lot of weight.

    One con is your entire, carefully curated and much loved bra collection is rendered useless. A second one is that you have to start all over again with the bra hunting, as most of your favourite models have been discontinued when you weren't looking. A third is that your boobs are not as, erhm, perky as they used to be.

    A big pro, however, is that you now fit into things like this. This is a beautiful, beautiful, not-entirely-practical-but-who-cares-because-beautiful bra, that shouldn't fit, but sort of does.

    It's a longline. I tend not to get on ... with those because I find the uncomfortable. Most reviews for this brand make note of tight bands, yet the band for this model is very loose. I normally wear a 32, but I easily fit into a 30 band. It's still not super snug, but because it's a longline it's pretty supportive, and not uncomfortable.

    The beige cups underneath the black lace overlay are moulded. Moulded. I have never had a moulded cup fit me properly; not even close. On top of that, it's a plunge. I rarely get on with plunges. This moulded plunge, however, miraculously works. The cups are pretty narrow, pretty projected, and not too tall; they don't fight with my shape like moulded plunges usually do (I'm looking at you Freya Deco).

    It creates a pretty great profile (lifted! rounded! up front!), and pretty great cleavage to boot. The straps are thinner and stretchier than I'd like, but somehow they do what they're supposed to do and, again, they're comfortable. Now I'm curious to see how this bra holds up over time, but hey, it's not a workhorse. It's a pretty horse. A proper show pony, one might say (really, did I mention it is beautiful?!).

    The cups are a tad small at the moment, but as I'm still losing some weight I thought it better to err on the side of tightness.

    I'm not sure, but I think this is the largest cup size they do for this model, and I just happen to fit into it. Hooray!

    ps: I am now a 32F or 32E (still figuring my new size out), so this bra runs about 1 size big in the band and about 2 sizes small in the cup.

    • I can commiserate on the loss of fullness :/ but yay for cute bras :)

    • haha, yes, yay for cute bras! This doesn't even come in my old size, but if it did it would not have worked anyway, because it doesn't win any awards for sturdiness, but my new smaller boobs it does carry.

    • Wow, it’s gorgeous. I have the same sentiment. I have one longline (Attollo Emelie in navy) and it is gorgeous but I am not used to wearing a longline as anything other than a special occasion.

    • Thanks! It is a bit of a special occasions bra, but I think I'll be buying some low cut tops to justify wearing this more.

    • Very cute bra! The black lace design is beautiful. Wonderful fit!

    My shape: slightly shallow teardrop/FOB with super wide/tall roots and very close-set tissue in the middle

    This review is for the Nude colorway.

    The Search for a Strapless Bra, Part II: Electric Boogaloo

    First of all, I would like to say that this bra is much prettier than I was expecting. The nude fabric actually shimmers! It's quite light, though; I got it to replace my 30FF - Panache » Porcelain Moulded Strapless (3370) , which is a bit paler with a tinge of pink and probably matches my skintone better, but even with the yellower undertone this comes pretty damn close. It's also super lightweight, which I was ... not expecting, but it is a pleasant surprise. I was also not expecting a longline, but at 5 hooks (5!) I don't know what else to call it. I have been looking for a super-plunge longline strapless for YEARS, and I am so glad to have found it by accident!

    It definitely runs tight. If you are between sizes, you might want to size up (at least in the smaller bands; not sure how the model scales). With the Panache Porcelain I noticed it migrating a bit over the course of an evening, but nothing out of the ordinary. I had hoped that with a "tighter" 30 I might alleviate the problem altogether, but it's so tight it's literally squeezing itself down off my ribcage.

    I do think my rather firm breast tissue is probably not helping much, too, especially because of the ENORMOUS non-removable pushup pads in the cups. Ego boost? They weren't kidding! My boobies do not like to be pushed around and usually push back, and in this case they team up with the too-tight band and push the bra almost down to my waist. I think an extender is in order!

    I would like to thank whoever said to size up in the cup, because they were also very right. I may do better with a 30GG, but since that cup size would require sizing up and I WANT a tight band, I'm not sure I'm willing to exchange.

    Also, the straps are SUPER LONG. They are padded for comfort, which I like, but it makes them very difficult to adjust. Definitely check length BEFORE you get the bra all the way on, because they are a huge pain to move when wearing.

    The cups are set at a much better angle for me than the Panache, though, and they don't cut in on top much when the bra sits in its proper place. They are definitely much taller and a little shallower and more vertical on top, which is lovely! (I think I will always have a bit of the false quad-boob with anything strapless, though, on account of how high my roots go. My mom and sister also have this problem.) Plus, aside from how much distortion there is from the pushup pads, I think there might actually be the right amount of bottom projection for me.

    I am quite pleased with my investment. I really hope the extender works! Definitely going to record the results.

    Update: The extender works nicely, and I only need about one set of hook's worth of breathing room. Of course, as soon as I washed the bra, I misplaced the extender, and I have to find it before I can wear it again...

  6. French Fancy Bra (5371)

    Didn't fit

    I bought this bra in two colours, the purple/pink and coral/hotpink. I am not impressed with this bra at all. The only thing going for it is the colour. The colours are vibrant and patterns are nice. The fit, however, is a completely different story.

    The band runs true to size. I take a 30 in most brands like CK, Panache and Freya, and this was no exception. I'm a 30G and that is the size I ordered for this bra. But it just did not fit right for multiple reasons. I don't think going up or down a size would have alleviated the problems I had with this ... bra. It's just a weird shape that wasn't the best for me.

    Appearance: The shape it gave my breasts was quite unflattering. It squashed me and separated my boobs into east and west. My breasts were pushed down and to the sides. From the front, it gave a perfect hourglass shape which was very appealing. However, once I turned to the side, it looked horrible! It seemed like I'm almost flat or like someone who is trying to hide the fact that she has breasts.

    Fit: It is true to size. However, the cups are just very strange. I was spilling a little bit in the centre but I had massive gaps in the sides and tops. Gaps got better as I shortened the straps all the way but I still had about two fingers width gap at the top of the cup, yet I completely filled the cup at the bottom, so going down a size would have been way too small. Going up in cup size may have fixed the quadboob effect but then I would have ended up with even more serious gaps in the top and sides. I think perhaps this bra is better suited for women who are full on top with wide set breasts. I have soft breasts that are fuller on the bottom and closer together. The wires in the cups went all the way back beyond my shoulders, not halfway under the armpits like other bras. There is only about 2 inches from where the wire ends and the strap begins. I guess the best way to describe is to think of it like a shortened back. It's as if the bra was made for someone with a very wide ribcage and then just chopped off the band to make it shorter. I hope this description can convey what I mean. That being said, surprisingly, the wires did not dig in anywhere and the bra itself was fairly comfortable. I also did not like the straps as they were not fully adjustable, so they are not great for petite frames like myself. The straps are very thin but have this frilly material on top to make them look bigger. Despite that, they did not hurt and were not uncomfortable. The material of the bra is okay but not the highest quality. The bra looks really bad under any type of t-shirt or form fitting clothes due to the flattened shape. It's still a comfortable bra but it's been relegated to the lounging drawer. I only wear it under my pjs.

    Overall, I am not too happy about this bra. It does not dig anywhere and it's comfortable but it did not fit properly at all. I bought it at a clearance price and could not be bothered to go through the hassle of returning it. I would never buy this bra again and definitely not at full price. The only reason I kept both colours is because my husband saw me try them on and begged me to keep them. He loved the colours and the front hourglass shape. I would not recommend this bra to women who are petite (5'3" and under) or ones with soft bottom heavy breasts.

    UPDATE: After wearing the hotpink/coral bra for a few hours the wire started to dig in the centre of my chest and left some marks there. I did not experience that with the purple bra, but then again, I did not wear it for as long as I wore the coral version. I've adjusted my ratings to reflect that. In general, this bra is just not good. I would only wear it as a bedroom bra, probably for 20 to 30 minutes tops. Otherwise, spend your hard earned money on a better bra.

    *Gorgeous* bra. Wanted it to work but it's the first Gossard I've ever tried. Wire seems mostly a good shape, it comes up underneath my underarm but that's ok with me. The band is well fitting brand new but it is stretchy so it's no good to me as a strapless. I could only consider wearing this as a regular bra or cross-back. This is too bad. I hoped the "long line" would provide more support as there is more material and there's a 5 hooks closure. Also, the extra material and wide under-band just roll up and don't hold the effect unless you are standing still. The ... G cup is a bit too small for my bigger side and Gossard really only go up to G and I can fit a finger between the cups so the gore doesn't sit flat. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> I still wish to try other cup styles in the future to see if they make something which will fit me better. Shape is pointy (see photos) but I really like the lightly padded style: It really looks like a "retro" bra! If this had fit, it would be a keeper for some special occasions.

    Purchased & Returned June '11 but measured for Bratabase.

    • How would you describe the fit of the cups? I am looking at the corselette but not sure if I should size up or down. Freya Patsy Padded Half-cup (1223) just fits me in a 30FF and the Freya Ingrid is just a smidge too big in a 30G.

    this bra shouldn’t be as comfortable as it is, or provide the support that it does, because technically the cups are a little too wide. but the projection must be deep enough that it doesn’t force the bra down my ribs, and the underwire fits close to my IMF at the gore and underneath, so maybe it’s a shorter cup than others, because i only have empty space on the sides, not underneath. the underwire should poke me under my armpits, but it doesn’t. so even though this bra doesn’t fit, and shouldn’t feel like it fits, it does feel like it fits well. weird, but okay!

    ABOUT ME: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts
    * average projection
    * wide-set (3 fingers width of space between breasts)
    * wide roots (extend to the mid-axillary line)
    * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full)
    * short root height, average vertical placement
    * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away)
    * ... conical shape (but will squish to round)
    * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue
    * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame
    * front (anterior) rib flares

    FIT
    Band:
    * length: stays in place with wear
    * wings: height good, smooth line, stays looking good after movement.

    Gore: Comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.

    Straps:
    * not too far apart
    * adjust short enough

    Cups:
    * Wires too wide.
    * Top of cup: quad boob near gore, massive wrinkles in top half of cup (can fit my fist, expects way more upper fullness)
    * Bottom of cup: filled ok but breasts sag below wire
    * Cup apex: too deep
    * Side view: round, tiny lift
    * Front view: wide (east-west) – side support sling not effective, but doesn’t create new bulges
    * Tail of Spence enclosed. Outer edge of cup very high -- nearly in armpit crease.
    * Don't be fooled by the stock photos. This fabric is very, very sheer. Everything shows. (This is a pro or a con, depending on your goals.)

    ASSESSMENT & PLAN
    * Cups too big all over (too wide & too deep).
    * Summary of sizes tried:
    - 34E & 34F: band & cups too big
    - 32E: band fits, cup too small
    - 32F: band too big, cups too narrow and deep
    - 30F: band fits, cups not deep enough
    - 30FF: band fits, cups wide & shallow
    - 30G (this review): band fits, cups too wide and too deep

    Be aware that the band is extremely stretchy, I would need to go down to a 28 band in a perfect world. I usually wear a 30GG and I think the 30G fits fairly well, so it probably runs slightly larger in the cup. I really like this bra! It's unique! It has the honor of having the smoothest outline under clothes EVER on any bra I've tried so far. The upper seam does not even show. Amazing! There is a lot of nipplage going on however, so you might want to wear this with pasties. Comfort is pretty good, but because of the thin band I feel the straps more than I usually do with bras that have thicker bands. I also think this is because the band size was too loose on me.

    Great strapless bra. The band is nice and firm, the cups are sturdy and supportive, and the gore tracks without any discomfort. It's not a particularly attractive bra, the satin is nice and it's very well made, but not pretty. And that's ok because in the case of a strapless bra, function must trump form.

    The shape is nice enough, though it's not my favorite. I do feel very firmly locked in place with this bra. Although it's a bit too close at the top, or perhaps my roots are a bit too tall. If you're after strapless support this is the bra you want! If you want cleavage ... I would recommend the wonderbra ultimate strapless. But this bra has its place.

    I got this lightly used, and no straps were sent. I'm not sure if it came with any, but it really doesn't need them at all. The only thing I wish was different is the band. It has three hooks, which is decently thick. But in a strapless I tend to prefer four to six hooks, circa semi longline. But, the three hook closure is sufficiently supportive.

    This is a very cute bra. The wires are too wide, but they're soft enough that it isn't uncomfortable. This bra doesn't fit very much like the lace super boost. The cups don't have as much space at the center top, and the straps are much firmer. But I believe that is mostly to do with the material being firmer.

    the back of the band is very cute and interesting, it doesn't seem to serve much purpose, but it's a nice detail. The straps in this version are partially convertible, another nice detail; However because the straps are so firm and short it isn't much use to people with taller torsos.

    This is a very strange bra, moulded into quite the pointiness nightmare - but I rather like it. Perhaps it's only because I didn't manage to find a decent nude t-shirt bra for ages, that I'm willing to compromise.

    Cups are deep and very padded, and I pop out the top with considerable quadding despite being so FoB. It's worse when I scoop and swoop, so as the day wears on my boobs settle down and the quadding doesn't show through my shirt anymore.

    The gore is sewn crookedly, and the material is rather gold-ish.

    My favourite thing about this bra is how minimalist the design is. The straps are thin, which works under thin strapped tank tops. The band is not your conventional solid band at the back, but instead parts into 2 thin straps that meet again where there hooks are. The 30G gives me a lot more projection than my 30FF bras in this style. There is, however, more side coverage. Not sure which fit I prefer so I ended up keeping bras is both sizes.

    My only gripe about Gossard Superboost bras, is that the straps don't adjust nearly long enough to wear comfortably as a multiway. The straps only adjust halfway.

    I want to love this bra so badly -- it's SO CUTE with its ruffles and bows -- but the cup just fits me weirdly. I think the bulk of the cup's size is in its width -- I have a little spillage in the cleavage area, and it kind of looks like my breasts are being flattened. I'm not sure, because I don't have a lot of bra experience yet, but I think this might better suit someone with shallower breasts with more breast tissue under the arms. My breast tissue is mostly centered near the gore, and I'm slightly fuller on top. I'd say if you are full on bottom, shallow, with more root focus near the armpits, this is the bra for you. Sadface; I wish it worked for me. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

    Didn't fit

    I’ve tried Gossard bras in the past, and find them to fit one cup and one band size small. With a usual size of 28G (UK), I tried this one in 30G. But the band is so outrageously tight that I literally cannot close it. I had my SO close it for me so I could at least assess the cups, and they are very round and uplifted with some INTENSE cleavage, but they're also a touch too shallow on my very full-on-bottom breasts, leading the cups to fold over a little at the bottom.

    This bra has a rather heavy band, which I like since it helps it stay smooth instead of pinching in on the top and bottom edge where the elastic and silicon are located. And with five rows of hooks and eyes, it's effectively a longline. In the right size, I think this bra would have been quite comfortable and would stay up really well.

    Includes fully adjustable straps that can be removed or worn in a variety of ways (halter, crossback, regular, etc.).
