Band: * Inner layer of stretch mesh. Outer layer of sheer, stretch knit. * Elastic at top of band. * Wing support: no seaming or boning * 3-piece band construction * Back close with 3 columns of hooks.
Straps: * smooth elastic with lacy edges * soft (don't stand up on their own) * full adjust * leotard back * CENTER PULL
Cups: * seamless, soft full cups * unpadded, flexible underwire * Made of a very sheer knit with only horizontal stretch. Unlined. * Has an inner side support sling made of two layers of stretch mesh. ...Covers just under half the cup.
Fit
About me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts * average projection * wide-set (3 fingers width of space between breasts) * very wide roots (extend past the mid-axillary line) * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full) * short root height, average vertical placement * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away) * conical shape (but will squish to round) * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame * front (anterior) rib flares
Band: * length: way too big (even on tightest hook) * wings: too short, boobs escape * no axillary skin spillage
Gore: Comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.
Cups: * Far too big. Gives no shaping, just covers breasts. * Wires too narrow. * Top of cup smooth. But only because there is elastic on the top edge of the cup. Cup is expecting more upper fullness than I possess. * Bottom of the cup wrinkles. * Apex of cup is higher than my nipple (probably because the bra isn't providing any support). * Don't be fooled by the stock photos. This fabric is very, very sheer. Everything shows. (This is a pro or a con, depending on your goals.)
Straps: * feel widely placed but are not slipping * adjust short enough
Fit Under Clothing: * Almost smooth under a thin T-shirt. There is a contour change visible where the side sling ends. * Not visible under a V-neck. * Visible in armholes of sleeveless shirt.
Comfort & Fit Summary * Band too big. Cups too narrow and projected. * Try a 30F - down one band and one cup size. (Will review separately.) * Band is so big that trying a 28 band (two band sizes smaller) isn't crazy, but this style is only made in 28G, 28H, and 28I. Based off the fit of this 32F, the cups of a 28G will probably be too big. Read more 332 more words
I got this bra and the Parfait Kelly at the same time. They both suffer the same problem - those goddamn slings. For those who are unfamiliar, it's a piece of stiff (read: nonstretch) fabric inside the cup, and the rest of the cup is made of stretch material. Unlike, say, the lovely Claudette Paramour, whose lower two of its 3-part cups are made with supportive non-stretch material, and the top panel of the cup has stretch. I don't know who designed this sling thing, but they should be fired. What happens when you put a narrow piece of fabric down the outer ...portion of the cup? Gossard claims it pushes your boobs together, but in reality it pushes that one part of your boobs inward, and the rest of it bubbles outward as squishy flesh is wont to do. Maybe if you have extremely firm boobs that are already close-set, which I have neither. So yeah, that aspect of this bra (and, in my experience, all other bras who utilize this "technology" and just make lumpy shapes) is a total failure.
Moving on. The rest of the fit was okay - it seems like it would be better served by some seams, but I think generally the bra was designed for smaller girls, as I was at the top-end of the range. On the model, the cut is almost like a demi, but mine arrived and was seriously full-cut. In a bad way. First of all, it has this weird-looking gore that basically looks like a v-neck, and the tops of the cups come straight out from that point. Normally, bras will have some swooping so they cover the breast tissue and then get out of the way. Not this one. Since the gore was functioning like a v-neck, and the top of the cups goes out in basically a straight line towards the straps, it covered up basically everything. Not that comfortable, or practical for any low-cut shirts.
Also, a note about the sheer. It is entirely see-though, which is what I wanted, because it's kinda sexy and whatnot. However, this means that you can also see that dumb sling. And because it offers little by way of support, and the sling butchers my shape, the sheer cups give a window to sad, wall-eyed, droopy boobs. Not sexy at all. I would not recommend this bra to anyone my my size range, because it just ends up making everything worse. If this were my only bra, I would rather go without. Read more 335 more words
Feels light like a bralette, but underwire and construction keep the breast tissue from spreading to the sides. Nice cleavage, and super low gore would only be visible for a top cut lower than the IMF line.
I have this in the N/P version and they are completely different shapes (see pic comparing 32F) and sizes - they fit very differently. Tried 32F, 32E, 30FF, 30F
Both the 32s - a more comfortable band, less back fat being squished out. But I realized neither of the 32s were going to work because they both were eating into my tail of Spence and that’s not a fixable thing. Neither of the 30s gave me the same issue.
The main issue of the 32F is that the side of the cups and underwires come too close to my armpits/ Tail of Spence. So I can feel the fabric chafing ...against the underside of my arm. And there was slight gaping on the top of the cups and near the straps.
32E - there is gaping on the top of cups, and I have to adjust it to fit my IMF. Underwire and side of cups aren’t too close to the armpits.
30FF cups had better coverage but has a wider underwire that goes further back. Band is more comfortable than 30F. Won’t need an extender. Needs a couple of times of adjustment for IMF, scoop and swoop, but less than the 32s did.
30F requires just 1x adjustment in terms of IMF, etc but cups have less coverage. I didn’t pop out of the bra while wearing it for 30 mins but it looks small. And I have to be careful when I scoop and swoop because I might pop out. Band is too tight (more fat spillage) and digs in but fixable with an extender. If this is the size I go with, an extender would be necessary.
Eventually went with 30F + extender because I really do like the cleavage it gives. But will not repurchase this in other colors. Read more 190 more words
Wide wires & cups. The shape is shallow vs. projected. VERY wide-set straps! (I am 15" wide from shoulder bone to shoulder bone, and these straps would need to sit on the very corners of my shoulders in order for the cups to not buckle.) Straps are fully adjustable. The cups are like thin memory-foam, with stretch satin on the outside. (It arrived in the most horrible condition, with the cups all folded every which way. But most of it went back to wearable condition relatively quickly.) The center fullness above the gore controlled any quadding surprisingly well. The gore is narrow enough and low enough that it lays nice and flat. The band is lace along the front cradle, single layer mesh on the sides and back. "OK" materials but not the softest. The Nude color is a very warm Pastelly-Peachy-Orange. Definitely not a neutral color at all. Something in the hook & eye closure is very scratchy. Not so much the materials I think, but more in the construction. Bottom line: I'm not impressed.
This is the first bra I bought after trying on several after using the calculator here and abrathatfits. It's comfortable, the gore is where it's supposed to be, and it's pretty.
Hmm this bra makes boobs closer and doing sexy looking.from a lateral perspective, in the case of pointed breasts, the cup-like appearance may also be slightly pointed.
This is the best fitting bra that I've found so far. I have lost some underbust fat since purchasing, so I've had to start wearing it on the tightest hooks. When I repurchase down the line, I will order a 30FF instead. I do get slight wrinkling on my right breast, which is my smaller side, but the cup fits perfect on my larger breast. Whenever I put a shirt on, the wrinkling in the smaller breast is unnoticeable. My main issue with this bra is that the top of the gore starts poking my sternum by the end of an 8 hr work day. I love the ...fit of this so much that I don't mind it. This bra gives a fantastic round shape and makes my breasts look larger than I was previously used to, I think because of how well it supports me.
As a side note, the side shot looks a bit wrinkly, but I think it's due to the way I was holding my arm for the picture. I generally don't get wrinkling on my larger breast with this bra. Read more 77 more words
This is a very pretty, retro bra that I managed to get cheap (99 pence on eBay? What a steal.). It fits technically, but the shape it gives is horrible. The cups are half soft, half padded, and final result looks like those vintage bullet bras; breasts get very conical. Oh well https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
Very unexpectedly, this bra fits! It is a gorgeous longline with a weird gore that does not meet in the middle. I love it! The band is very firm and does not stretch more, which is very fine with me. If someone has matching panties, message me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> Same cut as Gossard Retrolution Staylo Plunge Bra (8515).
Pros: the design! Very firm band, lace on the cups Cons: the wires are relatively narrow and boobs can escape once in a while.
This bra has great lift! It runs a whole cup size small, but once adjusted for that, is about average, I think. I had read elsewhere that the band was especially firm, and I see that it measured a bit small, but it certainly didn't feel tighter than normal. The gated back was very comfortable.
As the t-shirt pic shows, the seam between the padded and unpadded portions of the bra is VERY thick. It will show through all but the thickest fabrics. This looked great under a sweater.
The other detailing on the bra has a nice luxe feel. The hardware is rose gold and the whole thing is kind of retro glam.
Besides the seaming, the other negative for me, was that the apex was a bit too far out. Again it looked nice under a sweater, but too east/west with anything thinner. Because I rarely wear thick clothing, I will reluctantly be sending this one back.
The cups are a bit pointy. More like the usual cup-form in the 50's. I think this looks very cute. I wanted to have something different from the usual shapes so i can switch. But now its too small. I didnt get many opportunities to wear it, but if possible i'd buy it in my new size any time again
This is a pretty bra, but fairly out there. The band is quite stretchy and the bra gives a fair amount of support, but no lift, and sort of flattens me in the middle, no cleavage for me! Very light and good for summer, also the straps and lace sort of make you want to have them showing over a strappy top.
This is a very pretty bra with an unfortunate pointy shape (on me, at least). The band is quite snug, while the cup is just right. The back of the band is simple, but interesting because of its diagonal cross shape; however, it is rather narrow and can be bad for "back fat"! The colors are vibrant and look great. The shape - even under clothes, as you can see - is a big minus for someone who likes roundness, like me.
