Custom Organic Cotton Bra from LoveYourBodywear on Etsy

@brasaremean found this one on Etsy and shared the link, and since it looked promising, I took the plunge and placed an order. I ordered it on 12/17, it shipped 12/24 and arrived 12/27, so very prompt service, even though it was at the end of crazy holiday season. The owner of the company, Kristiana, was great at communicating during the ordering process.

The bras are custom made at the time of order based on your US bra size, and ships within 5 business days. When you submit your order, you just tell her your bra size and she will make ... the bra accordingly. I gave her both my US and UK bra size, as 28P/Q US (28KK/L UK) in hopes that it would lessen any confusion. She did not question my size, and a few of the review photos did show women with larger busts (36J) so I wasn’t concerned.

There are a variety of colors available, but I opted for the brown, as I am in an extended earthy phase and drawn to the browns. It is a nice medium brown.

    First Impression:
Upon arrival, I opened the padded 100% recycled envelope to find this cute square of a bra, nicely folded and tied with cotton ribbon. I was quite nervous when I unfolded my new wireless bra. It was a 10” x 10” with no discernible parts. Kristiana did send an email at shipment stating it would look strange at first due to the unique size, but would make sense when I put the bra on, so I did take this into consideration while looking at it.

There is no size tag, which I honestly didn’t expect to find anyway, but there is the brand label (made out of the same soft cotton fabric) with the washing instructions as Machine Wash, Tumble Dry Low, and states the composition is 95% Organic Cotton and 5% Lycra, all of which was also written within the listing. Bra instructions with machine wash and tumble dry are always welcome.

The material is extremely soft, as in a cuddly teddy bear sort of soft. I cannot imagine this causing any skin irritations even to the most sensitive of skins, like mine.

Before trying it on, I tried to get as many measurements as possible just in case body distortions were to occur.

There are no hooks, so this one is a slip on.

The band flat measures 20” and stretches between two fingers looped into it easily to 32”. After releasing, it went right back to the 20” measurement which was promising.

The cups are difficult to measure in the flat position they are literally completely overlapped and without wires or seams, so you have to use your judgment to gauge where the cups end. So, the cup width is 10”, and the unstretched cup depth would be the same as they are flat, but easily stretched to 17” over the knee but I am confident it would stretch even further if needed. This is excellent for changes in size!

The cup height is 8.25” from the top of the band to the strap, and the band is a comfortable 2” tall. The wing is 5.75” and the strap width is 3.5”-yes super wide and made out of the same fabric as the whole bra. The gore is 3.5” tall (as measured when one, as the gore is no existent in the flat position.

The fabric is a wonderful 4 way stretch so these figures are all flexible, so even though the straps are not adjustable, I don’t feel this would be an issue for anyone due to the flexibility of the material. And as mentioned, the cups are seamless, so no unsightly or painful seams to shine through. In fact the only seams on the whole bra are at the band and strap connections.

Now for fit and final impression:

It was more difficult that I thought to get this puppy on! I opted to shimmy up instead of over the shoulders since my hips are smaller than my bustline. I did keep my jeans on when trying this on, which wasn’t a wise choice in hindsight. But I do realize that I wouldn’t be able to get this band over my bust either, and see this being a big issue for any woman whose bust or hips are more than 10” above their undersbust measurement.

Once on, it was a bit of a chore getting my breasts into the cups and I almost gave up as it didn’t look like it was going to work. Eventually I was able to get my breasts into the cups though, and in all reality it only took a few minutes of maneuvering but it felt longer when attempting to do so.

First thing I noticed is that the fabric fold over within the cup area is noticeable to me, though it wouldn’t be under a shirt. There is no seam, but there is a doubling of the fabric that doesn’t cover my breasts, though I am thinking it is supposed to? My other observation is that the cross over under the breasts may be annoying by end of the day. The crossover goes completely under each breast all the way to the center of the back (which is why the cups are completely overlapped when flat. While this crossover is not an issue for the top crossover, it is a bit bothersome for the lower crossover, which is a sling under my left breast. This feels like it comfortably encompasses my right breast, but it digs into my left in an uncomfortable way.

If this crossover didn’t go so far back, I don’t feel it would be as much of an issue. Yet after 20 minutes of wearing, I became painfully aware that this will not be wearable as it is , as my left breast felt like it was being cut off from beneath. My breasts also were feeling very compressed, so I am thinking the cup area just isn’t as spacious as I need or originally thought they would be. I was also already getting upper back pain and I wasn’t feeling supported as much as I was compressed. The cups were just too small and as seen in the photos, the seam that connects the straps to the cup area were strained, which I assume is what resulted in the back pain.

The band rides up and bunches when seated since I do have a bit of a belly. While it is not noticeable when standing, it is while seated and could also be an issue for anyone who doesn’t have a completely flat and toned middle region.

When taking the bra off (another challenging task, I realized just how tight the cups were, and the marks that the seamless edge left very predominant. The cups didn’t cause any quadding while on, though which is surprising with all the issues I was experiencing with them.

Quality wise, this bra is excellent. Material comfort wise, again, excellent. If I had smaller breasts this bra would be great, but it’s just not doable for me. I may try it again in a larger cup volume at a later date, but I am just not feeling it right now at the $58 price tag for a wireless comfort bra.

So now I go back to waiting for my Ewa orders to come in and hoping that something within it fits……

interesting, but i feel no urge to try it!

    • 1

i forget, did you ever try a decent exposure? I dont see it in your list

    • dbmamaz Yeah, at your bust size I honestly wouldn't recommend this one. No I haven't tried Descent Exposure. I know I should.......but where to begin?

    • 1

      I'm sad :( I feel like I wasted you money :(
and you know I'm always hoping for a good wireless and I was hoping the crossover wouldn't be an issue with this one :( with pendulous breasts it literally feels like the one that goes directly under it is being chopped off :(

      Sorry :(

    • No worries@ brasaremean! It is very well made, and for a smaller bust I am sure it would work very well. The crossover separates the breasts beautifully, it's just that for me it does cut in under that left breast. On smaller cups I think the wrap would be less and in turn less of a potential irritant.

You just shared the link, but didn't force me to buy, so don't feel bad. It was 100% my choice to try it. :-)

Kristiana (the owner and seamstress) is willing to take a return or exchange but I am not one to return. I feel she put in her time and effort to make it and if I returned/exchanged it that wouldn't be fair to her. Again, my choice.

At some point I will either try "bra surgery" with it or pass it along to another. It is very well made!

Bummer. Thank you for your review. I don’t think I will be trying this one.

Sovavosi No, I wouldn't recommend it for you either. It's a lot like Molke but with painful underbreast sawing in our range. But the materials are so soft.......

as for decent exposures, I would call and talk to their customer service reps, with your measurements and existing bra sizes in hand. I personally like the lined lycra because its more flexible than the velour (meaning it stretches so its easier to fit), but gives more support than the other options. and then you just have to choose U back or T back. and color

You can look at the ones I have . . . the shirts I have pretty much outgrown (velour, less flexible).

      Hmm. I have a hot pink top too . . . bigger . . .

The bra i wear all the time. Its not a perfect fit or shape or support, but more comfortable than braless or underwires for me.

MamaPagan Does the owner take comments? Do you think she would remake this for you?

    • Thank you dbmamaz I will look into it.

Yes Sovavosi she stated I could do an exchange or return, but you know me, I don't do returns. She put in the effort to make this so I don't feel right about returning, and honestly with the fit issues, I wouldn't know how she could fix the fit to work for me. I just don't have the energy to "deal" with it right now. :-/

I’m sad that it’s not a good fit for you. It’s still something that I might consider at some point, given that I have a smaller bust.

    • 1

I'm sorry this wasn't a good fit, especially when you are needing one! It is a cool looking design for people with less breast weight to support.

    • It really is nice aside from my fit issues Calluna. So super soft material! I am trying to figure out how to alter/remove that lower crossover to seeif it becomes wearable for me then....

    • veggiechic Oops, I didn't see your comment, sorry! It really is a unique design and the materials are wonderful.

yeah, i was thinking - if your skin is easily irritated, you might want the organic cotton, idk. also they used to offer an all-cotton thread version for sensitive skin (decent exposures) - definitely you want to call and talk to them

Thank you dbmamaz. I was just looking at their website. There are 2 100% organic cotton options available, and in a variety of colors too!!

    • 1

I found the thread options - near the bottom under fitting tips. so its still an option
