This bra really surprised me. I kind of really like it. It makes me feel like I'm a pinup Minnie Mouse. It's quite pointy but looks very nice under a button up shirt in real life. The picture I tried to take doesn't really show it. I can pinch some depth out of the seam in the middle so I might go ahead and take it in to create a more rounded shape. I was sure the depth was going to be 10" or so but when I measured it its was only 9" so it must just have a considerable amount ...of depth at the apex. The gore is too high/ wide. It's not uncomfortable but the gore doesn't tack because it sitting on tissue. The gore will be very easy to narrow though on this model because the gore has two ribbons across it at two heights and the bottom one is quite wide. The embroidery does not show through clothes except for being bright white. They do make this bra though in a few other colors. And they also make it in a demi/half cup model. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a plunge or full cup. I'm guessing it's techincally Lejaby's full cup because other plunge gores I have are shorter but their full cups are a cross in my mind between most other balconette and plunge bras. I haven't worn this for more than about an hour so I'll edit this review after I've worn it for a day.
Edited to add- I went ahead and narrowed the gore and pushed the wires all the way to the outside. It helped immensely in terms of comfort and some in terms of shape. The wire portion of the gore now is only 2" tall and 1/2" wide at the top portion. I wish I'd done it sooner. Read more 223 more words
This is so cute! I love the bows and the polka dots.
I'm a sucker for polka dots
So do you find all the Lejaby's pretty consistent size wise across the models? Every time I see you review one I get more and more convinced to give them a try.
I think there is probably a trick to the sizing but I don't know it yet. I don't know if the plunges run smaller than the full cups or not. I've gotten a couple 30Fs that fit like 30FF or possibly one even a 30G but then the other two 30Fs I have fit great and all the 30Es fit well. I haven't tried on that is too small. The bands feel like they have been very consistent. I've been trying to put a lot of pictures and info on the reviews because I know they aren't a very common brand, in case other people are sort of where I've been with bras- mostly just brightly color cleos and wanting to branch out more.
I appreciate all your reviews. Maybe if I find one cheap enough I'll finally take the plunge.
I glanced at your profile. It looks like a couple of the bras you have that fit presently have similar measurements to a couple of these lejabys so I'd guess 30Es would more often than not be the size you'd want to try if you see one that you like.
Thanks! That's really helpful. I'm on a bra buying hiatus right now because *someone* can't keep her card in her wallet when a EM CHP is on the table but I think I'll take a break from the Polish and try a Lejaby next time I get some cash flow. They're so many cute options.
Very fifties! Ok, let's see if this bra is still available on e-bay. Oh yes, it is. OK, I ordered. Someone said don't drink and bra, I know: I only had two glasses of red with lunch, so I might only order one bra or two, hahahaaa
I so wanted to love this bra. It’s a darker beige, has convertible straps, a low gore, shorter cups for a molded bra, and a non bulky profile. But I should have sized up. The cup size is in the range of a 32E or even 30F with a stretched band of 30.5” but I need more space sadly. This doesn’t seem to run as shallow or wide as the Cleo Juna type or as high and stiff and wide as the decos or as bulky as the Parafait Casey.
Unique coloring and embroidery on the bra, large oversized bows are fun. Could easily be taken off. I love the low gore. The band runs slightly small for a 32 and is useable on my typically 30 band frame. The cups aren’t quite my favorite shape. They are slightly taller than I need, similar to many unlined freya plunges. Would make a nice plunge for someone that needs more coverage but a low gore. Typically narrow wires and deep cups. I often wear a 30F and this bra would be a cup volume smaller by the tag. I’ve gotten very picky with my bras or I’d keep this one.
so pretty!!! If it's DD isn't that the Elixir range? It runs differently from the main Maison Lejaby range.
Thanks everyone wendybien I’m not sure. The tag doesn’t say elixir but that doesn’t mean it’s not. I’m not positive on the name either but it’s how the model number was entered into the bratabase system.
This fits like a 30E, in my opinion, but even then is pretty deep. This is a wonderfully designed bra. I love the mesh and embroidery, especially near the fasteners on the back. This is basically a plunge cut. I was surprised that the bra was more purple/burgundy than brown, and it looked brown from the pictures, but I am happier for that (because now I can match it with undies I have). It does produce a slightly pointy shape, similar to how the Avocado Kyoto makes a "point" at its apex. Its top ribbon also cuts in on the girls, so I am going to remove it. I am extremely pleased with this bra. It isn't giving my armpits grief, and though the wires are hard, they're a great width. I am even/FOT with soft tissue, so YMMV.
I think this is what they call their plunge balconette but I've had a hard time figuring out if eBay and Lejaby agree much on the names of anything! Haha. It looks lovely on you! I'm glad you snagged it. Did you still find it pointy under a shirt? I noticed the coral one I have is pointier than I like alone but then wasn't an issue for me under a shirt but at the same time it's no Cleo apple which I've become somewhat used too.
eBay also called it a full cup, but with how short the gore is I can only realistically think of it as a plunge lol. Thank you!! It isn't visibly pointy under a shirt but it creates a non-apple profile. I'm going to take it in a little actually like Bras I Hate has a tutorial for - and removing the ribbon at the top really helped. If it was cutting in on you I recommend doing that too! I'm also spoiled by Cleo and desire my boobs to look like perfect half-spheres... Really excellent bra though. Thank you for showing it to me!
What a beautiful bra, it looks great :)
A lovely look on you! This cut should be the same as this one: http://bra.pe/MfJ/
Lovely! Your reviews of this brand really make me want to give Lejaby a try. They have my size on eBay, but I really should stop buying until I can sell a few others.
Thanks klilly3 ! It's a beauty!! That does look absolutely right erispe . The eBay photo and the "full cup" description seems inaccurate but that only means it's a better fit for me. I am loving this brand and I'm haunting it on eBay lol. bechod I totally know what you mean!! I have too many and I'm just praying a number gets taken off my hands. I am really impressed with them though - I would definitely buy another from this brand. If you ever do buy from them, it seems like they have stretchy bands and might run deep in the cup!
How do the French companies get their lace and embroidery to lay so flat? This is 5th French bra I've tried that I thought would be very visible under a t-shirt that ends up being practically invisible instead. This bra has a little lace ruffle along the top of the cup, a little girlie detail on a otherwise geometric patterned bra. It was invisible under my thin tight tank top. Unfortunately this bra is a little too deep for me.... Which I almost never say. I think fits more like a 30FF. The band is comfortably snug for me but only stretches ...29" so it's borderline for tts for a 30 (UK/USA/EUR) band. The cups are some of the narrowest I've tried in my size only barely over 5". In a couple pictures it looks like the cup might be too shallow but it's an optical illusion. It's actually wrinkling slightly on my smaller side so it's that the cup is too big instead of too small. My only complaint is that I haven't felt like the brand is as consistent sizing wise as I've found Cleo to be. But it could just be that that different cuts run differently and once a person has what is what worked out the brand is easy to find your size in. I've only tried 4 bras so far from this company. What a beautiful bra. I love the colour and the shape of this bra. What a pity is is a little big in the cup for you. I have to agree that it is somewhat strange that it is not visible at all under your top, which is a great thing for a bra made out of lace and embroidery. Looks like it would be very comfy to wear if it was in your size
In love! They make this bra in a dark brown also which I would love to get my hands one. Has some of the narrowest wires I own. I only have a finger width's dead space on the sides. Sits well in my imf. Provides good lift. Seamless under shirts. Wide comfortable glorious straps with pretty white soft tulle coming off them. Low and narrow gore, deep cups. And the band is snug but doesn't cut in. There is less difference between the tension of the band and the tension of the elastic edges than on any other ...bra I have except maybe Claudette Sophia icon. Straps are similar in comfort too to that bra. These are slightly better and I'd already wanted to duplicate the Claudette straps for every other bra I own. Gives a shape somewhere between Cleo apples and Freya unlined natural, plus a little of up turn at the center I like to call French perky- my Simone Perle Amour made this perky upturn at the center... I don't really know how to explain it exactly.
Update- I've had this bra now about 6 months and I'm still very happy with it. I'd buy this cut again especially in a color that would disappear under a shirt. Read more 119 more words
revisa The straps look so comfortable, and I like the geometric lace. But, I bet the cup is tall ;-)
DressTheTwins I don't find the Lejaby plunges tall in my size - 30E.
Dressthetwins I can measure it. I don't understand how when we measure width we don't include depth but when we measure height we include depth. It seems like it's always going to make deep cups seem taller than they are.
6.5" high
I don't find it tall either but after my pictures in the Claudette Sophia I'm confident I have, instead of just leaning to, tall roots but they are very shallow so typically molded bras gap a lot at the top. It seems I need a relatively open but not too tall cup. So complicated!
You know, revisa I only just recently realised I had tall roots. Having pendulous tissue first I thought I was short rooted FOB, but now I understand my breasts better and it turns out that they are actually even in shape with tall roots, so they look FOB without a bra, but they mostly behave FOB to even with sloping tall roots in a bra. In some bras I can even get an FOT shape. Tall cups don't work though, because I am petite, so you're quite right: it is complicated. :)
This is a really pretty bra for a "nude". Unfortunately for me the cup runs too big. I think it fits more like a 30FF compared to what I am used to. Has good depth, isn't too wide. Gives me a relatively natural shape but if I pinch together the extra fabric in the cup it's nicely rounded. I didn't get any lines under my shirt when I tried it on. It has stretchy lace for the top half of the cups with would allow nicely for fluctuations or upper fullness. The straps are slightly thicker which I appreciate. ... The band I would also consider true to size but it's slightly looser than I like. I started on the second hooks right away. I like a firm 30 band most often. I bought it on eBay listed as new and with the model name ANTALIA.
Edited to add- my mom helped me take the extra depth out of the apex and now I'm wearing this bra once a week. I just pinched the extra solid fabric up over the lace, pushing it back under the middle seam a bit. I'll add new measurements when I can but just to this section here so it doesn't mess up anyone trying to buy one. I did add three pictures of how it looks on now. It actually gives me some cleavage!
So happy to find another option in "nude" i.e. Something I can wear under thin or light colored shirts. I was worried the band would have to be altered. Usually I find the 30/65 band a bit loose in this brand and this is the size up 32/70 but it's actually snugger than the rest of my 30s and it has four sets of adjustments! I am sad that the wires are wider than I've become accustomed to and found the bra a bit uncomfortable wearing it all day. The bra is also slightly taller and deeper than the majority of the other Lejabys I like so ...well. I feel like it fits a half size larger and I probably could have gotten away with the DD instead of E. The sizing is still in range with the other bras I've tried of this brand, I fluctuate between 30F (my most typical U.K. size) and 30E. I hope to get some more pictures of this bra because it's really beautiful in person. The color is light but has a brown undertone that works well for me instead of being pink ish. Short root friendly 30DD softie This bra is originally described as a full cup, but acts as a balcony on me. A burgundy coloured soft fabric with a soft upper lace. I ordered it in FR 80E, but was sent 80DD with the explanation that in this brand these two sizes both correspond to 30E, which isn't actually true, but I didn't want to engage in an argument with the seller. What I think happened is that they sold the advertised E cup to me and then realised they only had DD, but sent it anyway thinking it might work. More about the bra: It came only with a ...size tag, so I needed to do some research to find out its name - Hypnotic - through the code. Cups: narrow, short and deep for the size, which I would say a true 30DD - excellent for short roots. Has side support slings on the outside, I don't know if it actually does something or only for decoration, since its so soft. Cups closed on top with lace. Band: TTS supersoft and comfortable, my favourite bit on this bra, low wings, no extra wing support. Straps: front wider, non-stretch while the back narrower with stretch, not fully adjustable - typical feature of this brand. Gore: a unique solution, very little fabric between the cups, but not a plunging style. All in all, I'd keep it if it were the right size. This is how it looks on a model: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/LEJABY-S-Gorge-Armature-Full-Cup-Bra-Hypnotic-noir-B-C-D-DD-US-30-32-34-36-38-/300808887471 http://www.polyvore.com/lejaby_hypnotic_underwired_full_cup/thing?id=11571244
Lejaby doesn't make both a DD and an E size in most lines. That is prob. what the seller meant. Their sizing goes C, D, [next size sometimes marked DD and sometimes E]. F. G. In defense of retailers the brand has been completely nuts these past few years, changing the names of their sub-brands literally every other year and presumably changing their tag content including what sizes are called. Further confusion has been achieved thanks to English-language retailers using drop down sizing for Lejaby which includes a DD and an E cup size separately as if they were two separate sizes that are different and are both available.
For this particular bra the seller was French and offered both DD and E cup in the drop down menu. Prior to this occasion I ordered elsewhere a 80DD because that other seller convinced me that 80DD and 80E were the same, just as you say here wendybien, but in fact that one also fits like a 30DD. That one is non returnable unfortunately. To sum it up, what I've tried so far from Lejaby, the ones labelled 80DD fitted like a UK 30DD and the ones labelled 80E fitted like a UK 30E. I only tried about 15-20 bras so we are not in the realm of an empirical study yet. :) My general impression with EU and French "large cup" manufacturers is that they are often indicisive about the sizing in these "smaller" sizes, making the scaling pretty drastic, so one can easily end up not fitting either of the two consecutive sizes. For my greatest sorrow that is true for @Empreinte in which 75D is too small while the one size up 75E too big for me. :(
Wanted to edit my previous comment, but it doesn't allow editing. Just wanted to add that some sellers only have D and E cup sizes listed for Lejaby.
Yes as far as I have been able to observe the very newest lines have both a DD and an E but initially they did not have a DD, then for a long period the brand had most of their lines that still used the old, D, E, F system coexisting with a handful of Eprise full bust lines that used D, DD, F, and eventually Eprise started doing D, DD, E, F and now all their lines do that. But if you are shopping from discounters a lot of their stock is at least 18 months old (so some lines may not have a DD at all and some may not have an E and some may have both) and sometimes their understanding of the sizing system is equally outdated. So if they don't realize that DD and E aren't the same they aren't ordering stock in both those cup sizes, just in one of them, or indifferently in either one and then considering them the same size. In short it is a mess!
Ah well, what we endure here for the sake of science! ;)
I love this bra. It's very comfortable, great for people with narrow, short roots, and though it doesn't come in a 28F I have had the 30E for a couple of months and can probably go a few more without having to have the band taken in.
The fabric seems very luxurious. I usually either need a 30 or 32 band and with this bra the band fits well on the middle hook after having stretched somewhat already in a few hours wearing it. I however do think that this band is slightly tighter than most 32 bands. The center gore doesn't tack and if I press it down, I get quadboob. The cups seems kind of shallow and broad.
EDIT: I bended the wires close to the center gore to go a bit more inward, and the gore now tacks a bit more. I also bended the wires to be more narrow. I will keep this bra, since it seems to be a good t-shirt bra and feels comfortable (and also I bought it in sale and can't return it).
Gorgeous bra, but the fit is slightly off for me and I think it's due to not enough immediate projection. I'm getting a pointier shape than I'd like, too, so this one will be listed. Bummer, because the deep red color is exactly what I'd wanted.
Very short, projected, slightly narrow, close set, center full, even breasts....
Delightfully narrow and deep; too narrow for me. The wings are low, gore narrow, straps half adjustable, and the color a delicious peach. The wings are an amazingly soft, supportive, two layer, fine mesh. Straps are non-stretch which I strongly prefer. And, abstract embroidery dances across the cups. Beautiful!!
I'm very impressed with Lejaby bras and determined to find one that fits. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
OK. So this is just the best bra on the planet. I bought this one as Millesia "Femme" by Nina Ricci, but I see it also exists under the Lejaby brand as "Vibration" with a code 12134 found on the sewn in label, which is BTW the same in both brands. I named it Lejaby Millesia as the bra exists under both aliases. Solid thick and firm band, also thick amazing straps, which are not just attached to the bra, but part of it, as the bra seam runs into the straps. Fits like a UK 30F, band on the tighter side, cups embroidered mesh, absolutely amazing design. This is top notch French quality. The cups are narrow and deep - a full cup style on me in this size. As it is about a half cup size roomy on me it is on its way for a swap.
I'm pretty sure Millesia is its own standalone brand, not a bra design name, and not part of Lejaby or Nina Ricci. I suspect the vendor got their product description tangled up.
This is so cute! I love the bows and the polka dots.
