This is really a very pretty bra, but it doesn't come close to fitting and is getting returned. Another reviewer mentioned that the cups were comically small and I had the same issue. It gave me astoundingly bad quadboob. Often, my partner thinks a little quadboob looks sexy, but even he had to laugh and said it made it look like my boobs have eyebrows. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
I would definitely have tried this in bigger sizes, were it available in stores near me, because I love the concept of it. The corset-look feel it has is cool and it really is quite lovely. ...It feels well made and has nice detailing.
The band is quite snug, but feels true to size. The cups are oddly shaped, definitely pointy, and the shortest and most shallow I have ever seen. (And, short cups, it turns out, are one of the main keys to a bra that fits me and my short roots.) They do a little inward dip and than bend back up at the edges.
I can't even figure out what is going on with the gore. It's totally floating (except at the bottom where the band is), and yet also a little stabby because it hits at an odd location on my sternum, depending on movement. I have very soft, wide-set, splayed boobs...so the gore width shouldn't be an issue, but somehow it seems too wide. I think that must be due to all of the tissue being smooshed in the way it is.
The forked end of the wide-set straps are pretty, but they are a non-stretch ribbon-like material. It looks like they should pull in and smooth down my somewhat prominent tail of spence, but they just feel like they're cutting into my skin constantly and the edge of the strap ends up under my arms. Even if this cups had fit, this would be a deal breaker because it is painful. The straps themselves are a nice width and stretchy.
After wearing this for 20 minutes, to see if maybe my breasts would settle in and the cups would round out, I ended up with significant red marks around my sides. Other reviewers mention it being soft, but I don't find any part of it to be particularly soft or comfortable.
My favorite things about this bra are taking it off (!) and that it makes me feel like I have big boobs ("that 30D is WAY too small!") Read more 307 more words
I don't have this bra anymore, because the straps were so far outside the cups it really hurt to wear this bra. Not very comfortable, even though it looks so great.
This is my second Alice in the same color and size. Since this is my best-fitting padded true plunge fit right now, I decided to order another one for regular wear. Happily, both bras I own measure and fit very consistently!
Alice is such a gorgeous bra that has been on my wishlist forever. I finally took the plunge after doing much research on the size, and I’m glad that I did! It’s not a perfect fit, but I correctly chose a sister size that fits, and the bra looks beautiful. This bra fits like a 30DD.
In terms of sizing, feedback from reviews is that the Alice cups run one size big. My ideal size in this style would be a 28DD, one cup smaller than my normal size of 28E, but I couldn’t find this size anywhere. I ended up sister sizing into a 30D knowing that ...the band would be loose, but figuring that the cups would fit. The band is the same firm satin that is on my Masquerade Athena and Rhea. The Rhea 30 band fits better than this, because for some reason the band on this bra won’t lay flat on me and ends up wrinkled. It is firm, so it doesn’t really move around on me, but it’s definitely too big. I suspect this is because the wings are very short at the back and therefore less stable. The narrow wings at the back should be easy for me to alter though.
The cups on this style are a cut and sew 2HC with a low gore. It’s not really what I would consider a plunge, since that’s usually a 3 piece construction with sloping upper piece. Usually 2HC styles are less projected than 3HC styles, but this style is actually quite projected and is more projected than Rhea (3HC). The shape of the cups fits me well, though there may be a tiny bit of emptiness at the fullest part of the cup. The upper cup closes back in and is not completely open, but isn’t nearly as closed as Athena. The shape of the cup isn’t as center-heavy as Athena either. It gives me a really nice rounded profile. The only thing about this bra that I think is really not suited for me is the height of the outer cup and width of the strap positioning. This is a common issue for me with taller and wider cups, so it’s not surprising, but it makes me a little sad.
Appearance-wise, this bra is lovely. Cups are made from cotton covered foam, and the front is covered with embroidered mesh. The design is of large scale flowers and rosettes, and in the Mineral Blue colorway, they are tonal. The cradle and straps are made from Masquerade’s standard heavy weight satin. This has the plainest gore of all the Masquerade styles I’ve tried, as it just has an ivory floppy ribbon bow. It’s a bit Edwardian and elegant without being stuffy.
Despite some minor fit issues, I am very pleased with the fit of this bra, and am so glad I managed to find one! Now, time to hunt down the other colorway and potentially pick up the matching slip...

Update: This fits me much better now, and I've ordered a second one in the same size and color for regular wear. Both bras measure very consistently! Read more 414 more words
When I bought my Alice bra earlier this spring in 30D, I griped a bit that the fit wasn't quite perfect because the band is a little loose, and the cups were a bit too wide under the arms (size 28DD wasn't available). I held off on ordering the Alice Slip, which I had wanted for a long time, for this reason. However, after revisiting the Alice fit, I've decided that it suits me better than I thought, and I decided to take the plunge and order the slip in the same size when my eBay seller reduced the price.
Thankfully, the slip is a perfect fit. ... I am glad I chose the 30D instead 28DD slip as the body of the slip is very snug but goes on perfectly in this size. I am usually a US size 00, but I was worried that the 28DD wold be too tight across the hips, and I was right. There are no fasteners on this slip, so you must step into it. This size just barely slips over my hips and I have to go slowly to avoid breaking any seams, but once it's on, the appearance is awesome. It truly fits every part of my body perfectly without any bulging or excess fabric. The front and back of the slip panels are made from stretch tricot, which is a fabric commonly used on bra bands, so you know it is firm and has great compression quality. The side panels are made from mesh. If in doubt about sizing, I would definitely recommend sizing up, especially if you are curvy on the bottom. The only thing is that the body fabric can snag rather easily, so be careful!
The construction of the upper is like a bra attached to the slip body, but while there is a bra band with hooks on the back, there's no cradle at the front. Thus, it was very difficult to measure band length on this garment, and I used the flat circumference of the slip right under the band to estimate it.
The cups on the Alice Slip fit very similarly to the Alice Bra in the same size, though I measured mine and found the cups on the slip are just a little bit smaller. They both fit me the same, and I would not have noticed this difference. I think my breasts have changed a bit in the last few months, because bras that I felt were the wrong shape for me a few months ago fit me now, though my measurements are the same. The Alice cups are comfortable and a good volume for me, and the only thing I don't love is that the side of the cups are a bit too tall and wide for me under the arms, causing some minor chafing. However, this bra gives me a fabulous rounded shape that I used to get from my Victoria's Secret bras back in the day, so I have actually ordered a second Alice Bra for everyday wear.
The slip I own is in Graphite, while the bra is in Mineral Blue. The details on both bras is actually quite different. The Mineral Blue has a simple tonal embroidery of large daisies or asters on mesh, and a large, floppy cream-colored bow at the gore. The Graphite is much more ornate, and what I thought was going to be red roses turns out to be tonal mauve pink roses with metallic thread embroidery. There are also small ivory blossoms, tonal abstract blossoms for texture, and a scalloped eyelet design at the upper edge. Interestingly, the embroidered mesh overlay on the Graphite Alice is much looser on the cup than on the Mineral Blue, but it lays flat when worn. The embroidery is also repeated at the bottom of the slip at both sides of the hip panel, and there are optional suspender strap attachments. It has been a long time since I wore stockings but I would love to give them a try in this! The rest of the has simple satin straps, and the center bow is black mesh ribbon.
I am thrilled with how well the Alice Slip fits me, even though it was a bit of a struggle to get it on! It is far too precious for regular wear, but I am looking forward to pulling it out for a special occasion. I am not the type of person who needs or wears shapewear, but I really enjoyed the appearance of this slip and how it fit me. Read more 675 more words
I love the look of this bra, the straps feel so fancy honestly. The lace on top I don't fill out all the way and the cups are a bit short. I don't think my nipples are supposed to sit up with all the lace. The gore is a bit wide for me, but the height is great. The bra doesn't dig in over time and doesn't feel restrictive. Overall it's a good bra, just not the best bra for me.
somehow i still had this old bra lying around in the back of my closet. I put it on and it fit???????? so here's an updated review of my thoughts on this bra.
THE AMOR IS NOT THE SAME AS THE ARDOUR, not even close. I compared the two bras, and the cups of the Amor are like 1 inch shorter. and less deep. i'm not really sure if this bra is related to any cut. Whatever it is, it is definitely shallow. And it is less open on top than other shallow bras. I am pretty even, so I like that this bra isn't full on top.
okay so as I was typing this review I realized I spoke too soon. This does not actually fit me. It feels a little tight and there's wrinkling in the bottom of the cup. So this is quite shallow at the bottom and not a lot of projection there.
This bra fit well as I left the store with it but unfortunatly the band extended very soon. Now the cup still fits well but the band is too large. I recommend buying a band size smaller. I will shorten this bra.
This is my first foray into soft, unpadded, unstructured bras. Based on my other good experiences with Masquerade, I thought the Orla would fit me; as it turns out, the cups fit well enough but the band is on the snug side. That's an easy problem to fix, because if I don't want to deal with the tightness of the band, I can just wear an extender. On my larger (left) side, the cup fits well, but on my smaller side the top is just a little wrinkly. I'd like to see whether tucking a cookie in will fix this, but the ones I ...have are black and show through the thin fabric of the cup.
Update, July 2016: Now armed with silicone bra cookies, I can tell you, they help. In fact, both sides benefit from a half-size cookie in the bottom of the cup. In light of how much better this bra looks with the cups actually fully filled (rather than almost filled, with a hopeful expression) I think I'd do better with a size down. Unfortunately, Masquerade doesn't do C cups, and this 30 band is already too tight to be comfortable.
(As an aside, why are Masquerade sizes so inconsistent? I have an Antoinette Bandeau in 30DD, which fits in both dimensions, an Alice 28D, which fits in the cup but is too small in the band, and this Orla 30D which is too big in the cup but too small in the band. Bratabase is a huge help here: thanks to all of you who have measured your bras!) Read more 163 more words
I'm very dissapointed with this bra. After lots of research and your kind help, I think I have clearly wide root and relatively shallow breasts. My first 30D bra had a good cup width but seemed to be too shallow for me, so after lots of reading, I discovered this beautiful bra which althouh being a little more narrow than my Pour Moi Promise 30D bra, it wasn't so different but was a little deeper.
The bra itself is really beautiful, I have no problem with that, really sexy, soft and well made, but I don't know what to think about the cups. The have really narrow underwires (at ...least for my breasts) and the weirdest thing: the cup fabric seam seems to point inwards (????). My breasts are a little outward pointing (just a little) so the combination is a complete disaster. In addition, I seem to suffer from orange in a glass effect, as my wide roots don't seem to fit and there is plenty of non-filled space in the cups. As if this wasn't enough, the gore is digging painfully in my sternum. I'm so sad about this bra. It's wonderful but everything goes wrong for me.
The good things are: the fabric quality, the great design (if your breasts fit in), the straps are OK, and the band too (maybe on the tight side, but OK). Read more 120 more words
Sadly this bra's wires were too narrow for me. Though it has the same cup width as other bras that fit, because the gore is narrower, the over reach of the cup is lessened, hence it is now too narrow. The band was also far too large. People often recommend that you size up in Masquerade as the bands have little stretch, but I found this was not necessary for me.
This bra is very pretty. I've been wanting to try a Masquerade, and I wasn't disappointed. I think this is my boyfriend's favorite of my new bras. It has vertical seams and gives a nice rounded shape. I love the black silky fabric. There is trim around the edges and on the straps that I'm not completely crazy about. It seems a little excessive to me, and it can be visible under clothing.
I wore it all day yesterday, and it was pretty comfortable. The straps may be a little wide for me, but this is a problem I have with a lot of bras. I think I'm ...getting used to it and it doesn't bother me as much anymore. The cups and band seem to run true to size. I can wear it on the tightest hooks right out of the package. I should really be in a 28 band, so I expected this. But for another cheap ebay find, I can't complain! Overall, I really like this bra.
EDIT: The wire has started sticking out at the top of the right side of the gore, and poking me. I'll have to try to fix that. I also think that I could do with 1-2 cup sizes larger in this bra, but since it is open at the top, there is no quadboobing. Read more 116 more words
Purchased this a while ago but only tried it on once as it is decidedly too small. Well constructed, I love the appearance and softness of the materials, and it looks beautiful.
Oh how I wanted you to work Alice :'( This is such a beautiful bra, the colour is lovely the lace is SO pretty. It's even nicer in person which is why I wanted to cry when I tried it on and realised it wouldn't work for me. The band is on the tight side and the cup shape doesn't seem to match my boobs, as a result the wires kind of dig in everywhere. The straps are rather far apart so they're always falling off my admittedly small shoulders. I wanted to make this work so I tried an extender and that helped with the band but the straps still made it impossible to wear because I would push them too far in (to keep them from slipping off my shoulders) and then the underwires on the side would dig in.
Another bra I bought because it's supposed to be the same shape as my fave 30DD - » Amor Sweetheart Moulded Bra (6766)Masquerade And I suppose it is, the bra part of the bra is great! Great shape, decent cleavage, lovely fabric... all the things I love about Masquerade bras. The band is on the tight side but it will probably loosen up with wear (and if it doesn't I can grab and extender). So a pretty wonderful bra exceppppt the straps, god the straps :'( They're wider than normal which I guess makes them more comfortable but then they also have unnecessary lace added which in my opinion makes them too wide. Added to that they're just a little too far apart so they're constantly slipping off my shoulders, and because they're so wide it's impossible to ignore. UGH, so close to perfect. TRAGIC!
blubblub Done! When measuring I realised I should probably sell mine since it still has the tags and I don't think I'll be wearing it. Let me know if the measurements work for you and if you're interested in a black 30D! :)
ps I'm new to this so if something seems off tell me and I'll remeasure, the strap width is just the uh strappy bit- with the lace it's a bit wider!
Sorry for the late reply.
I am nowhere near the size range, it's just that this bra cut has very little measured bras entered and I'm super curious about how it fits compared to other popular molded bras.
I bought this bra because I heard it was similar to my beloved 30DD - Masquerade » Amor Sweetheart Moulded Bra (6766) . I don't find them too alike but the main similarity is that they're both simple enough to wear everyday but yet very pretty. The Capella especially is wonderful because it has a lace detail on the cups without any of the bumpiness that usually comes with lace. The champagne colour is a nice neutral so I end up wearing this bra when I have something sheer/ tight on and don't want to wear a boring nude t-shirt bra.
The strap fits like a loose 30 but I don't need to move to a tighter hook yet. The fabric feels great on and the straps covered in it are an added bonus. Another bra I wish came in more colours so I could own more than one!
I don't understand this bra. Or rather I don't understand my boobs in this bra. They seem to not fill in the top of the cup because of the almost conical shape they take but there isn't actually any space there? Again I don't know. Wanted to love this one, because it's a gorgeous bra. Lovely lace on the semi sheer cups and on the straps, rich Burgundy colour but just not the right bra for my shape :'(
The band on this bra is quite stretchy and loose and I already wear it on the tightest hook which is a pity. That said it is a very comfortable bra, the band is a stretchy satiny fabric in a pale green. The straps are covered in this same fabric and the cups have a pretty patterned lace in a darker green on them. The bra gives me a good shape under shirts and the lace and seams cannot be seen through most fabrics. It's quite plunging so it's great for low cut shirts.
This is the bra that made me figure out that I do not have a very wide root. The wires are too wide for me and the style doesn't seem to suit my shape. I freaking LOVE the design though! I might do some reversible surgery on this bra to see if I cane make it work for sexy times... that is IF I get around to acquiring sewing equipment!
Do you mind measuring the bra?
