The design is so pretty and delicate and the bra feels very well-made, but I prefer the fit of the unpadded shoulder bra cut. The cups are made from thin lace that has a very slight give to it (not a stretch lace, just not completely rigid), and the cup edge is not elasticated - it’s just a narrow satin trim with no stretch. I think this is why the edge cuts in very slightly on me, though at first I wondered if the cups were too small. I have even fullness and my breast tissue doesn’t come up very high, so this might be an awkward cut ...if you’re full on top or have tall breasts, and I don’t know how well it would work on someone more shallow than me (I suspect it might be too narrow and closed on top). The cups have no seams, just a dart, and the shape I get in this bra is basically the same as my natural shape.
I love this bra so much that I bought another on off of ebay. It is soft, comfortable, washes well. This was one of my first bras I bought in my actual size. The cups are forgiving enough that I can put in a padded liner for coverage and extra oomf though they fit well without. Only "good" for appearance as this was my first shoulder bra and I am not convinced that it is the most flattering look for myself. I do find that the front straps are narrower than the "sticky toffee" model. On aside note, I splurged and bought the ...high waisted corset panty but do not find that it is a flattering fit for my shorter statured frame - perhaps on someone taller. Wears well under clothes.
Update: This bra got uncomfortable to I took it out of rotation. Once some time had passed and I continued to learn about bras and their aging cycle, I returned it and am wearing it on a tighter hook. Sometimes I do not know much! Have to say I am still loving the look and fit of this bra. I would buy all that Mimi Holliday made if they were still making it. I upgraded appearance to Excellent.
I am now on my second version of this bra. I wish I could buy more. Read more 128 more words
I have now added this bra into my rotation. I cut out the padded cups (i find the cups leave a line under shirts) and stitched in a blue padded bra cup for extra oomf and nipple coverage. I have cleavage, it is beautifully proportioned to my frame with slimmer shoulder straps, and is an all-day plus bra. I also have some pretty blue with white embroidered undies. I love this style and size. Maybe I will be able to buy some new ones made in this decade!
This is a really pretty bra! It has a petite, delicate feeling, and with four hooks a person with small frame can fit into this. The fabric is very nice too. Unfortunately, I should've gotten 28D and not C.. The wires were too narrow and the cups were too small for me. When I swoop & scoop, half of my breast escapes the cup. If you're looking for a super low cut bra, this is it.
This fits beautifully. It is a bit sheer and nipples show through but still lovely.
I have added a cup liner in dark green that matches perfectly. This is my go-to bra for those extra long days wearing a bra. Washes up well and is a nice alternative to black.
Snazzy bra, just too small for me. Purchased too early in my bra shopping expedition so I look like the poor model in the photo.
Later addition:
My girls have demonstrated a disinterest in bras other than comfortable and practical sports bras to suit their lifestyle of active, play-ground swinging and are now too big for this fun, pint-sized bra. Instead of trying to sell it, I removed the cups from Masquerade Harem bra (very uncomfortable with hard, stiff wires) and sewed them onto this bra that was too small in the cups. Many hours later of removing stitches and hand-sewing, has turned the Mimi Holliday into a lovely Frankenstein bra. I even have co-ordinating undies in hot pink with a leopard bow. Too fun!
I am really happy with this one! I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to a perfect fit, and this is definitely the best I've tried so far.
My underbust is around 26 inches, but I do fine in the 28 band. The band itself is quite wide, just about 2" at the clasp, which feels nice, and there's four columns of hooks rather than the usual three. If you want a wider band all the way around, not just at the sides of the cups, this would be a good choice.
The cups seem to fit quite well. Because of the low cut, my nipples are quite close ...to the edges of the cups, but they're still covered. The wire is a decent width. And no gapping! My bigger breast fills up the cup just fine. My smaller right breast has a little bit of empty space along the outside of the cup near the strap attachment, but I kind of expect that side to be a bit off, and it's not noticeable. I can hunch my shoulders enough to impersonate a gargoyle and still not fall out of the cups. The gore seems like it's in a good spot for me. I think because of the difference in projection between my left and right breasts, it's always going to be a bit slanted, but it does touch my sternum at the top, so it's fine.
The lace portions of the straps doesn't quite meet my skin, but I'm okay with that. The elastic on the sides of the straps is just fine, and because of the way the lace is overlaid on top of the molded cups rather than the seam being underneath... I think you'd actually have to have a bit of quad boobing going on for the lace to lay perfectly flat against you, since it's lifted away from the skin by the thickness of the cups. It also does tend to wrinkle a bit depending on the position of my shoulders, but that may be due to my narrow frame.
I will note that because of how the lace of the straps is attached, you're probably not likely to get a smooth silhouette in a clingy shirt and will have the edge of the actual cup somewhat visible. It's not a huge deal to me. Also, the lace itself is flat enough that it shouldn't give most tops any textural problems, and it's lovely for peeking out from under a neckline. This was my first bra with a band smaller than 32, so it was pretty life changing. The cups are great and give me a natural shape. On most days, the top edge can cut in a bit, but it's flush on "small boob days". The wire could be a bit wider/higher on the outside, but it doesn't affect my comfort where they're at now. I never need to adjust the band because it stays put all day.
Band is stretchy and there is only one hook per column. The cups are very short. The top edges of the cups are visible under shirts. The color bleeds out even after many washes, so make sure you wash it with similarly colored items. Not entirely sure where it's bleeding from though. There are no signs of major fading that I can see, yet it managed to ruin one of my beige bras I washed together by mistake.
This is AW2013 model so the cups are a bit bigger than previous models. The laces are delicate and the teal color is gorgeous.
The band is wide, somewhere between a regular bra and a longline. There are two hooks per column, but the spacing between the hooks are wider than regular bras. It feels nice and snug, supportive.
The cups fit me fine, but I can't completely fill the mesh. I think you would need some upper fullness to fill that area. Tightening the straps helped a little, but it couldn't solve the problem.
Apparently Mimi Holliday used to make their cup sizes small before SS12 /13. This was back when the cups ran small so it fits more like a B cup. It gave me quad boob and I'm shallow. Otherwise, the band was a good fit. I like how there's 4 hooks rather than the typical 3 and that there isn't much padding.
*Note: Damaris has changed the sizing for Mimi Holliday bras as of 2013: 28Cs fit like old 28Ds - please check individual measurements rather than the average (which includes interpolated numbers from older collections)*
Overall this is a gorgeous bra. The "fully padded" in the name is a bit deceiving: I would say it's lightly lined and molded since the padding is only about 1/4" thick. The cups have a horizontal seam about 1/2" from the top of the cup. Also, the gore is quite tall for a "super plunge", and the cups are very short (vertical height of 3.5", vertical depth of 3.8") and it doesn't completely hide my areola.
Update: after moving the straps in by 1.5 inches, the cups became too shallow on bottom for me. There was less gapping on top but the bottoms of the cups were riding up slightly over my breasts. It's still a good fit though. I will try shortening the band next.
Really glad that Mimi is sort-of pretty much (almost!) working out for you!
That's a super-cute colour too!
I actually tried on one of the Mimi shoulder bras yesterday. It was completely the wrong size, being 30B or 30C (can't remember) whereas I'm now a 28A/B in Mimi, but the lace overlay helps hide any gaping / quad boobing.
From the older ranges, I can highly recommend either the Fondant, Fete Coquine or Elferine, all in 28C, if you can find them.
Yes, I will try the padded super plunge shoulder style next time!
Would a lace-edge padded super plunge fit differently than the solid-edge? I'm not sure if downsizing the cup would fit better. I think the 28B might be too shallow on bottom for me and the wires will be too narrow.
But it would be nice to try a bra that's potentially too small for once in my life... if only shipping wasn't so expensive. It might actually fit on the 28-band if the cups are only slightly too small.
This is my very well-worn old favourite (AW2011 model) - the first bra I found that I *thought* kind-of fit me. Until I discovered swoop & scoop, when I realised that Mimi Holliday 28B fit me better.
As with all Mimi super plunge bras, this style works well for my wide-root full-on-bottom boobs, and is super comfortable.
The wire width is just about perfect in this size, but unfortunately the cups are a tiny bit too projected for me, and gape at the top, as you can see from the photos. The 28B Mimis that I own are all 3mm narrower in the wires, which is probably just ...a tiny fraction narrower than I'd ideally have, but the reduced cup volume works out just about right for me.
The lace on the top edge of this bra makes and slight fitting issues easier to hide compared to some of the solid-top super plunge versions.
As with all Mimi bras, it's made with expensive fabrics. My only complaint with this bra is that the straps have started to completely fall apart after many repeated runs through the washing machine. I've started washing all my Mimi bras in a mesh laundry bag now to try and prolong their life. Read more 99 more words

Overall the cup material is extremely sheer (see-through), but the wires and band provide enough support. The bra itself is comfortable. There is a vertical seam through the cups that ends at the nipple (I assume, but I have high nipples so it ends just under my areola).
After trying this on the tightest hook, it fits my larger breast perfectly and there's only one long wrinkle on my smaller breast where I'm not filling out the top of the cup. I wish this was available in a 26D - that would probably fit me better.
