I love this bra. This is the best bra. I've just entered the world of sub-30 bands. For a year prior, I had been wearing 30Cs and telling myself that those were tight enough, because I was not going to enter the 28D hell. (and a hell it has been!) But my god am I glad I bought Mimi Holliday. Mimi Holliday bras are glamorous, elegant, super sexy, comfy, made out of really nice materials, and just amazing. I feel so great when I wear this. I actually bought the bra in two colors, blush and bloom, because I'm so in love with the brand. I love that Mimi bras ...are padded and very round, despite not being a molded cup, because I find that my small bust won't round out nicely in an unpadded bra. I love that the cups are tiny and the wires low, because I don't want or need high edges on my small frame. I love the bold colors and pretty lace, for giving me playful lingerie options. This bra is not for people who prefer modesty. It's almost designed so that your areolae peek out - go check the promo photos on their website. It's also a very delicate feeling bra, a fact reinforced by having only one hook in each column on the back closure. I cannot imagine this bra being very supportive of or even covering much of a larger bust. The cups are shallow! But, if you're a small chest, check this brand out!
Only complaint: these are high price point bras. Buy on sale or prepare to pay a lot. Read more 158 more words
Looks like you got shallow wideset breasts. You might want to check out the padded halfcups by "Cleo by Panache", ie Cleo Martha/Sadie/Juna/etc as well as Curvy Kate Thrill Me/Tease Me. Ewa Michalak might also be a good brand for you to try, but use their size calculator.
Mimi Hollidays in this size range are getting increasingly difficult to come by. I bought this AW 2013 model new with tags on eBay.
Man I love this brand. You put it on and feel no pinching, poking, or scratching at all. The only thing I wish was different was the 1-hook closure. I feel like it creates wrinkling on the sides of the bra, and some "back fat" which I don't care about but I feel like the tension would be more even if there was another hook or two.
General notes on the "fully padded super plunge" cut:
It is very low cut. It covers the bottom half ...of the boobs, and the nipples, and that is it. The padding is soft and about 1/16" thick with no gross push-up bump or anything. I used to hate padded bras and one of these was my gateway into them. It does not make my boobs feel like I'm trying to make them look enormous or anything.
The cups are a little shallow but I feel like this helps give "cakes on a plate" cleavage. I'll see if this slides out of my IMF after a day of wear before I set the fit. I am crazy projected and narrow for my size but I feel like a lot of shapes could wear this bra provided the cups aren't too narrow for what you need.
This is my first new bra since losing some weight. I'll probably head into my first bulk cycle this winter but until then it feels great to have that properly-tight band feeling of a new bra once again. Read more 161 more words
What a cool bra. I love half-cup bras, and this is one of the prettiest I have seen. I want one! Went to the website for the first time and loved the variety. I hope the devaluation of the pound due to Brexit will make these bras less expensive for us Americans.
I'm glad I finally got around to trying a Mimi Holliday bra from a sale on Haute Look. I have been meaning to try based on overall reviews that the cups in the 28D run shallow and small (and will thus fit my small 28C/D bust when most 28Ds are a little big).
The cups are definitely very low cut after scoop & swoop...nipples show just a little but with a quick nudge I can hide them just under the top edge. The volume is absolutely perfect! My breasts are fairly even in terms of fullness, maybe a little fuller on bottom and the volume of the cup works ...very well despite how short the cups are.
The downside to the low-cut cups is that the top edge of the cup, which is a pretty padded and thick edge, hits the apex of my breasts and is pretty noticeable under a smoother, high cut shirt. Actually, it's noticeable under TWO shirts I'm wearing right now. However, the overall shape the cup gives is great, lots of lift and roundness, minimal gapping when leaning shoulders forward. If only the fabric closer to the edge tapered a little more it would be a little more invisible under shirts. This bra is definitely useful for a very bulky & low cut "plunge" top.
Another downside is that the straps are VERY STRETCHY, so i have them on almost the tightest setting at the moment to fit me. Though, I am only 5'0" with a much shorter torso than most so I usually have to go with pretty short straps.
The bra is very comfortable, the top silk of the cups are very soft & silky, gore tacks well but doesn't dig in, no displacement of boobs after scoop & swoop. The band is a little on the stretchy side I feel for a 28, but I'm wearing it in the middle hook now. Could also be that there is only ONE hook per column instead of the traditional 2 hooks, just be aware! Read more 232 more words
Here I have what I believe to be one of the last few @MimiHolliday bras in size 28:4 . Thanks to another user who pointed me towards the website selling a few. It was worth every penny. Most would probably feel that this bra may be too small, but it is perfect for me. The minimal coverage with nice lift and roundness, it is all I ever could have wanted. While the band measured true to size, while being worn it felt very stretchy and a bit loose. Therefore I made the decision to wear it on the second hook out of four. For whatever reason ...mimi Holliday bras, well at least the super plunge, have only one hook instead of two...which I really do not like. Even on my lean back it cause indents, "rolls." The band is made of a standard power mesh with a fairly soft high quality elastic. The straps are not 100% silk as is stated on Mimi Holliday descriptions every where. They are only half adjustable; the adjustable part is made of what I believe to be (perhaps fold over) elastic and the non-adjustable part is made of silk. They were very thin. Which is something that some people desire, while others do not like thin straps and prefer thicker more padded straps. I could see some one with a heavy bust not really liking these thin straps as they're likely to dig in. The silk is soft and smooth. Thankfully the foam the cups were made of were lined in cotton with nice flat seams. I tire of bare foam cups against my skin and don't understand why all companies don't simply line the foam. Foam is not the nicest feeling stuff. There are stiff tulle bows placed where the straps attach to the cups and at the gore. They are sheer and appear to be about the same color as the eyelash lace that decorates the cups. It's really hard for me to define just exactly what color it is because of the underlying pale pink. I think it may be a pale beige/peach color. The lace extends above the cups to decorate the breast and also extends below the cups to decorate the rib. The only reason this bra doesn't disappear under clothes is because the lace is gathered at one point on the bottom of the cup and is then spread across the rest of the cup. Hopefully the picture will be clearer than my description. The cup is compromised of a two piece cut and sew foam with one horizontal seam. Normally this would be very shallow cup. But because of the way the cup is assembled to the cradle it comes out at very horizontal angle. It doesn't come out as an L , a ninety degree angle, but more like an 70/80 degree angle. This makes this bra have all the projection while still coaxing the breast up into a nice rounded shape. The top part of the cup simply holds the breast in without cutting in. I would definitely call this an open top cup. The wires are pretty narrow and they touch at the top of the gore. About 4.3" at the top of the wires and 4" about a centimeter down. The gore does get wider towards the bottom of the gore, but it is not very tall. It's certainly not a gore I would typically attribute to a "super plunge," aka just a piece of fabric connecting the cups, but is more of an average gore height, IMO. The wires are softer like Comexims, but are not as flexible. So they're comfortable, stay put and don't flex around. This is where this bra definitely wins for me over the Cleo Maddie Moulded Bra I own. The wires come up high enough on the side to really hold my breast in shape, while following my breast root pretty nicely. I've yet to find a bra that doesn't sit on any tissue at all and this bra seems to do that pretty well. My Cleo bra has a taller cup height, but it allows my breast to escape out the the sides and doesn't hold me in place very well. All in all I would have to say that this bra is my favorite so far. So far it has been the only bra that I thought would be the best and ended up being the best. But not just about this bra specifically, about all of thr older Mimi Holliday Super Plunge Bras (maybe the newer ones). Now I really just need to get my hands on a non-padded version. I have only been able to find in 28C .....but am very tempted to take the PLUNGE, just to see. You know...for bra science. If you're aware of any older Mimi Holliday bras in the 28D/DD range being sold anywhere or you would like to sell, PLEASE CONTACT ME! I fear nothing like these exist these days. This bra worked out so well for me! I am only center full without much inner/outer fullness and am not particularly FOT or FOB. I am a bit conical, narrow-ish boobs, with -on the narrow side- of average root width, about average projection and tall-ish roots with breasts that act like they have short roots. I also believe the bra could work for a wide range of women unless you have wide roots, very heavy outer fullness that requires dedicated side support, someone whom requires very tall wires and wings, or you are VERY shallow as the bra does require some projection (although I suppose you could buy a smaller cup size, but that could risk nipple show-age!). Just about the only other women I can think of that this bra won't work for that isn't preference related is women with unusually high set nipples. We all *generally* want our nipples IN the bra. If you are FOB you may want to go up a size (or two since many women may want to go up a size for better coverage) to better lift and contain your tissue. Read more 920 more words
I just came across your review, not sure if you're already aware but I've just checked the Mimi Holliday site (as I often do, definitely my favourite brand aesthetics wise) and they seem to be making 28Ds again! I saw only one but it's one of their most recent designs. Hopefully this means they'll make more, don't lose hope! And maybe email them to say how happy you are they do 28s again so they know how important it is!
I loved this bra however it is way too small in the cup for me so never got to enjoy as I had wished. It will be perfect for someone else. Hardly ever worn purchased online from figleeves I believe. I look forward to finding this same bra in the right size.
Well, this didn't fit. I'm guessing like with the Masquerade Antoinette Balcony bra,the cups are too small? I was definitely popping out above and in the middle (when I swoop-n-scooped the center gore was poking into my left breast). I'm really bummed because I heard Mimi Holliday might be good for my type (shallow,tall,wide-root,FOB). I kind of want to return it and try a 28DD but with the $$ shipping prices and not knowing if the DD will just be too big or what. Like with the Masquerade Antoinette, the gore did not come close to my chest at all. Maybe the balcony style just isn't right for me. Gorgeous bra otherwise.
I would definitely try the 28DD. Because this one seems about a cup too small. IMO the padded plunges from Mimi Holliday are really good for shallow and tall roots. I didn't like the way the unpadded Mimi Holliday, balconette?, fit me at all.
I purchased this bra new on eBay after hearing that Mimi Holliday bras are great for shallow, wide-set chests. I have to say that I not only agree, but this is probably one of the best fitting bras that I own.
This bra is super soft and the lace cups are stretchy and accommodating. The cups are probably a little small for me, but the lace is a little stretchy and I get no quadboobing or anything. I also love how classic and feminine this bra is and I'm elated to have this bra in my collection. I will be purchasing more bras from this brand in the ...future (on sale of course, because I don't have $100 to spend on one bra!). If I had the funds I would probably buy them full price because they are very well made.
It's important to note that this is a pre-SS13 Mimi Holliday. Since then, their sizing has changed, so if this bra was in their current range, it would be marked as a 28C because they have made the cups larger since SS13. Just something I thought I would mention in case you are in the market for a more recently made Mimi Holliday. Read more 95 more words
Well, it fits beautifully for a 28D but I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the non-padded version.
When I saw this bra on Haute Look and noticed the lace cups, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of fabric texture when I purchased it. The lace is definitely a very delicate and open lace, almost resembling a light "fishnet" style with eloquent floral shapes. The bra itself is very comfortable and the volume is perfect. However, I found that due to the shape of the lace and where my nipples hit, the cups give an odd puffy & pointy shape (see pics).
It seems that on ...the part where the lace has larger gaps of holes between the threads, the cup "bubbles" outwards just a little and makes my nipples look pillowy and puffy...sort of odd. Just for kicks, I took some of the pads out of one of my lululemon sports bras and inserted in the pad, and that fixed the shape problem right away!
I think if I just alter the bra and add in a little pad, the shape will be great and the bra will be a perfect fit. I am a little disappointed that there is only 1 hook per column in the back https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> But there are 4 hooks so that extra length/decrease in length makes up for it.
Definitely a very delicate bra...I'm afraid to even wash it!
This bra has made me want to buy nothing but Mimi Holliday bras from now on.
First of all, it's beautiful. Bright yellow-green satin overlaid with delicate light blue lace creates a really pretty, almost aquatic effect. More importantly, it's comfortable enough to wear all day. It even has the softest wire channelling I've found. My ribs are happy. I'm kind of fussy about how bras feel and I'd rather wear a simple bralette or stretchy crop top than an uncomfortable underwired bra, so this is saying a lot!
The cups are made of slightly stretchy lace with a single dart; they give me a very natural shape, which I ...like. The straps are only half adjustable, and because the front half of the strap is part of the cup, it's hard to adjust them very far without changing the cup fit. This style might work best for someone whose shape is between even and full on top; I'm between even and full on bottom and the upper part of the cup is slightly loose on me, but it's not a dealbreaker. It has a 4 x 1 hook fastening instead of the typical 3 x 2; the band still feels pretty supportive and comfortable to me, but your mileage may vary.
Anyway, I'm seriously impressed by how well this bra fits and how nice it looks, and whilst it's easily the most expensive bra I've ever bought (even on sale), I feel like it's worth the high price. Read more 138 more words
To sum up: I love this bra, it's by far my favorite among all the bras I own. The only disadvantage is the price, which is really too steep for me to stomach unless I find a good sale.
This review is really just to add the measurements of the Blush color, plus some new pictures.
I love this bra! I was initially hesitant about this bra as I did not think that I liked the print. When I got the chance to purchase it inexpensively through bratabase I thought "why not?" as the size and style are a good match for me. And, I quite like the colour combo and print in person. This bra is the tiniest bra I have and, once I learned how to put it on in the right place on my torso, it fit divinely. It may be a touch too small but I will just think that my tiny bosom is looking ...particularly voluptuous. Thanks for the bratabase bargain!
Edit: I have now added this bra to my regular rotation. It continues to fit divinely and is so comfortable. This is one of the few bras I own where I have not had to do any sewing modifications to achieve that perfect (or at least non-painful!) fit. One drawback is a vanity issue as there is no padding in this bra. With my petite bosom, I generally use a padded cup insert in an un-lined cup to give some more oomph to my profile. Because the bra fits so great without that extra padding... well, you get the picture! Read more 113 more words
Bought this used off ebay, so took my best guess at the model. I love this bra - I was starting to give up on unlined bras in my size and shape, but this one worked out quite nicely! The inner mesh lining does get itchy over the course of the day, so I'm waiting to see if it improves with washing, but I'm not too optimistic since it's already in quite pre-loved condition.
During my time of month, I get nip slip and the wire slides out of my IMF on my larger (left) side, so this bra doesn't work then. But most of the time, it's a ...great fit! It's very low cut, which works well for me as I tend to gap at the tops of cups.
EDIT: it's been about a month and I've had tissue migration and/or size and shape changes; this is now too shallow for me and the band is too big (it hasn't stretched out further since I already bought it used, it's just that my underbust is now smaller), so I'm looking to pass it on for cheap! Have to watch what neck-line you wear with this bra. Would have liked 2 bra hooks as wear is noticeable with just the one - odd that Mimi Holliday didn't put 2 as it looks like there would be room. Upper lace is not quite full but still looks fine under clothes.
Post alteration Review I love this bra! I narrowed the inner edges of the bra considerably as was wider than other shoulder bras - more stitching than I had anticipated. This resolved the upper lace wrinkle effect. Old bra cup inserted, with the top portion folded to fit within the confines of the original inner cup of the Mimi bra and cup-forming darts on the cup lace. The band is snug and I have inner fullness and cleavage in the pillowy soft comfort that is Mimi Holliday. Is a beautiful nude bra for my pale skin.
This is a perfect example of Mimi Holliday done right for small bands and breasts - big sigh that it is an old model no longer made. Comfortable all day and gives a wonderful shape to my profile. I am on the hunt for coordinating undies.
This is from the SS 2012 collection. Mimi Holliday fans will know that bras prior to SS 2013 run a size small. This is so tiny that I can't wear it at all, which is a shame because it would have been a perfect lightweight Summer or bedroom bra. The print is fun and interesting and the quality and comfort are outstanding. Sigh.
I bought this bra before I discovered that there are smaller bands out there to be found. I do have a mimi holliday bra that does fit me so I ordered the same size in this model and everything is just wrong. The cups are much too small and the band much to big but the bra itself is so luxurius and pretty!
I'll start by saying that this bra is very pretty, I love the eyelash lace detail on the cups and it's a very comfortable bra to wear. The band is quite stretchy so if you are between band sizes I would recommend to size down if you can.
The only really minor fit problem I have is that during some times of the month I don't *quite* fill the tops of the cups, but otherwise it fits fine. This is a good bra for shallow/wide root ladies like myself, but if you need some space between the cups this wouldn't be a good bra for you.
This bra is quite comfortable, though it wrinkles a bit at the nipple-area. This bra is deeper than the Mimi Holliday padded plunges, but not by a lot. Even with the wrinkling, the bra is still cute and the band seems true to size. The lace isn't itchy and lays flat on the top and bottom of my breasts, even with the wrinkles in the apex of the cup.
One of the most comfortable bras I have, along with the shoulder bras from Mimi Holliday. Not really good at nip coverage or uplifted shape, but it's sooo comfy and I love the see-through look.
