My first and last Mimi Holiday. Silk? A bit. Lace? Scratchy. I've been spoiled by other manufacturers.
If you've tried Heidi Klum silk bras, this MH bra is guaranteed to disappoint. There are a few square millimeters of silk. And, the silk is not located in the places that improve comfort.
The cups are wide and average in projection. Because of the cup width, this bra fits better than many others. The cups also fit shorter roots admirably. There is a thin piece of elastic across the top of the cup. Because it caused a bit of quadding on my short pair, run if you have tall roots. The ...quadding did not show under a shirt; tolerable for me.
Because the cups are shallow near the gore, the gore floated. This is often more comfortable to me than a tracking gore. Nevertheless, it instantly generated the discomfort I almost always feel in a wired bra.
Those who appreciate narrow bands and straps, this is your bra. The straps were not uncomfortably wide-set and should work for those with average+ shoulder width.
The super plunge seems like a typical gore to me. If you are searching for a low gore, this bra doesn't have it. Why would a manufacturer name a bra "super plunge" when in fact it is not? Misnomer.
The cup is lightly lined with black inside the cup and a bicolor fabric under the lace on the outside. The two fabrics under the lace is peculiar. The lower half is more ivory and the upper half pale orange. There is not enough color difference to warrant the change. It looks like they ran out of fabric and substituted something similar. Perhaps those less enthusiastic about color won't notice. I adore color, but this is a peculiar combination.
Helpful review! I've been disappointed by Mimi Holliday plunge bras, too. For me, it was the gores not being low enough in 30F plunges. I think the silk on mine was on the outside of the cups, where, like on your Love Heart Super Plunge, it doesn't do much good in terms of comfort.
It's named 'Comfort Bra' for a reason! This one is comfortable enough to not notice wearing it after a few minutes. Although it is my 'official size', so far I'm wearing a band extender.
I think this bra works a lot better in theory than in practice, at least at the top end of the cup-size range. I bought it on a whim from Journelle, since it was the semi-annual sale, it was the summer, and I figured "Hey, since my bra is going to show under tank tops I might as well make it a *pretty* bra." This is the Mimi Hollidays recurring "shoulder bra" design, which instead of having the top of the cup curve outwards towards the straps, they continue in pretty much a straight line to create a triangular shape, much like a lot of halter ...tops. Design-wise, it's great. I've already discussed my love of wide-shaped straps, plus this bra is LUXE - eyelash lace along every lace portion, black velvet trim, a cute little tuxedo bow in the center. Definitely a home-run there. (Tangent: I should it's definitely more of a form-over-function bra, since the back of the bra doesn't have the usual deep band with multiple rows of hooks. Not a deal-breaker, since I didn't buy a fancy bra like this to wear while doing strenuous activity. Shape-wise, it's a fairly natural shape, just offering a bit of support and uplift but no extreme cleavage or reshaping happening.)
HOWEVER (there's always a however, isn't there?) since this is an F cup, the amount of fabric required to get enough depth at the apex, plus no seaming to bring it back inward above my boobs means that the top of the cups, means that there's all this loose fabric in the region of my collarbone. (I've even experienced this on bras that have more of a full-cup shape that stretches upward, but it's even more so on a bra whose main design element is the vertically-elongated cup shape. After all, my boobs only fill the lower half of the cup. On a shallower-busted lady, there would be less extra fabric and it would all lay flat and look pretty, but on me it makes the lace curl at the inner edge into almost a tube, so that said beautiful eyelash lace doesn't even really show after it folds in on itself.
That said, it's still SO PRETTY, and very unusual, so it's worth keeping in my bra arsenal and trying to make it work. Read more 286 more words
Oops, I sister sized from my 28FF to 32F... wrong. Should´ve got 32E. This means that the cups are a little too big. The band is too big as well but I was meant to alter it anyway.
Mimi Holliday lace bras are nice, they´re really comfortable. Wires are quite wide, good for me. The lace in the cups stretches a little. Straps partly adjustable and only one hook/eye per row.
This is certainly not the most supportive bra but it is comfortable and sexy https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
