Am I really the first one to review this top?? Welp ladies, I've done it. I've found a bandeau swim top I can actually wear. I've always liked the bandeau bikini top look, when worn correctly, but it's really hard to pull off. To buy any old Target bandeau, you basically have to possess either no boobs, or boobs of steel that hold themselves up, walk on their own two feet, and answer your phone calls for you while you're busy downing that margarita at the tiki bar. Since I do have boobs, I've never had luck with unstructured bandeaus, although I've ... tried on more than my share.... which gave me a really sad looking, squashed together uniboob shelf. Not a good look for me.
I'm on a roll trying swimwear lately, and I ordered this preppy little polka dotted number because it was on Amazon Prime and why the hell not, I needed a good laugh. I totally expected to return it.... but now I'm apologizing to my bank account for the $38 that is, in fact, not coming back.
It's available in 3 colors but I picked black and white because I'm not very adventurous and it matches everything. Plus, the black and white colorway has this white trim at the top with a cute 2 button detail on the gore and I thought it gave it almost a nautical flair. I should be wearing this on my yacht, paired with fancy boat shoes, but I'm not a millionaire so the lake will have to do.
This is the best swim top I've found yet. In fact, it's better than any strapless bra I've found thus far, so under dark shirts it might pull double duty. It feels really sturdy without being overly padded, and looks and feels like it's very well made - this wasn't thrown together in a hurry. It's a two part cup design with one vertical seam, but the white trim on the black colorway makes it look like a 3 part cup. It's not overly shallow (but it's no Comexim either) and even the wires aren't horrifically wide at 5.5. The depth is only 9" and on paper it shouldn't fit me and in the database it says it doesn't, but somehow I'm not falling out of it and it more than exceeds my low standards for a bikini top. I haven't taken it swimming yet, so I might change my mind, but right now I feel pretty smokin' in this thing. The cups aren't tall - one of the reviews on Amazon mentioned muffin-boob, and I could totally see that happening on FOT or tall-rooted ladies. With my short roots, it works pretty well. Even better - Panache designed the outermost layer of fabric to lay in a way such that it hides all of the wires, so it doesn't look like a strapless bra!
Band is pretty TTS, if not a half inch tight or so - which is really good for me. It comes with detachable straps that can be worn normally or cross back, but they're a little too short for me to wear cross back, and I like the bandeau look better anyays. I have really low set boobies, so I doubt this is a problem for many other women.
Bottom line - most likely fantastic for average width, average projection, FOB and/or short roots. I am narrow rooted, extremely projected, evenly full with short roots and if you're like me, it's still worth a shot.
