I'm a little conflicted about this bra, because it has so many pros going for it:
It's totally cute looking. It's got a lovely lace detail along the top of the cups, a little fancy-pants button detail, some also-cute seaming on top of the cups, and it's a really great dusty rose color, which is functions as a beige under clothes but just looks nicer in general.
However, the con is really just one, but it's almost significant enough to make it a deal-breaker:
It's a padded bra. Or rather, I guess in bra parlance they would call this a molded cup. It's not even super-thick but ...the point is that there is extra stuff between my boobs and my shirt than just a thin piece of fabric, and it kind of bothers me. Moreso because the shape that the cups are molded in is juuuust slightly off. The bra's cups seem to point slightly outward - the apex is right where the vertical seem design is, but my own personal apex is just slightly inward from there. Or perhaps the cup is slightly pointier than I am, when viewed from above? Even though, I have pretty soft breast tissue and I do conform to it, so it doesn't cause any major fit issues. There's just something a little strange about it, and the fact that I and the foam are not an exact match, and the fact that it feels a little like armor, are exactly what I don't like about padded/foam-lined/molded bras.
That said, should this be a deal-breaker? I don't know. I don't have any remotely nude colored bras, and this is a particularly nice specimen. I really like the stylistic details. Technically speaking, aside from the minor cup peculiarities, it definitely fits. And should every girl have at least one padded bra in her arsenal for some reason or another? I'm going to sit on this one a few days and think about whether I want to keep it. Read more 236 more words
This bra just arrived today and I think it is about to become my favorite! It's comfortable, soft, and beautiful. In 2020 I've made the switch away from underwires and am still learning the joys of a bralette. This is my second bralette and it is so soft and so supportive! I can't wait to really give it a test run and see what sort of impact it can support me through!
The short version of the story: Crazy short band! Crazy tall, shallow cups! Crazy long wires!
* Being convertible to a strapless, this has silicone on the top and bottom of the band, and also on the top of the cup. Thankfully none on the underwire. * Band is very restricted stretch. Seems to run at least 2 sizes small. Maximum stretch is only 28". Amazon's description says "For ultimate comfort, go up one band size." That's definitely an understatement! * Width of the wire is good for me; only 5.8". But there's not much depth at the wire. * Wires are definitely too long. They cut into my underarms. * Despite the gore being tall, it's narrow so it manages to lay flat. * Restricted stretch straps are removable. They attach with metal hooks. The front is wide-set. Back is kicked in towards the center.
The two most problematic fit issues for me: #1: I must extend the straps as far as possible for this to even remotely come close to fitting. #2: The gore is somewhat low, but still too wide for me that there's not enough room for center fullness for my close-set shape. Hence I quad near the gore.
* Straps are wide and padded in the front, partially adjustable 5/8" wide in the back. Because I have to fully extend the straps, most of the wide padding lays in the front, rather than at the top of the shoulders. Comfortable enough, but not ideal for a short but low frame. * Rounded natural ...shaped cups - not bowling balls, not torpedoes. Nice lift. Nice fabric. Thin top edge; wouldn't show if I didn't quad. Rather tall cups; I prefer shorter cups. * U-shaped underwire is firm but moderately stretches with the band. Its' unstretched 5 3/4" wire is a good width for me. Underwire extends completely into the channel on both ends. Unfortunately, the wires also sat too low on me, and I could fit an entire finger's width between the wire and my IMF. * Fine lace outer band, with white microfiber lining for a pretty contrast to the peachy pink lace.
* One thing to note (that may be of particular interest to JJ): the sewn-in tag names two different letters for the EU size. The "Traditional" size is listed as 70G and the "New" size is listed as 70F. The paper hang-tag lists only the Traditional size. You can see this in the photos I included. So apparently the sizes are being converted. For Bratabase's identification purposes, I had to enter the Traditional size, since it didn't recognize the New sizing system. Read more 179 more words
The band is at least one size too small. It only stretched to 30", and even that was beginning to distort the cups. The cups are at least one, if not two sizes too small. Cups are very closed, despite being 7" tall. Gore is 1.25" wide at the top, 3" wide at the base. There is silicone all the way around the top and bottom of both cups and the band. The sizes listed on the hanging tag aren't consistent with the sewn-in tag.
Not much information out there about this bra, and I love its' details, so I just had to try it.
What I love: The lacing up the middle of the gore: sheer mesh under satin lacing. Very reminiscent of a Victorian corset. The color: "Nightshadow Blue" is a very pretty dark denim blue in the spectrum of muted blues (rather than red or yellow tones). Very vintage looking. The cups: lined but no push-up padding; good projection; nice profile (neither "in your face" boobs, or minimized out to the sides); proportionate spacing between the apexes, relative to the width of the wires; darted flat lace overlaying ...the 3-part inner cups, with low-sheen satin on the outer cups giving defined side support. The lace barely shows under a thin tee; seams don't show because they are under the lace. Wide band: great side support, feels very secure; tapers to two hooks in the back. Controlled back fat well. It gives the appearance of being too tall under the arms, but it was not uncomfortable at all.
What I don't love: First impression: this is a lot of bra! Yes, it's definitely a Full Cup design and I'm used to wearing more Demi's; (When taking it out of the package I thought for sure it would be too big, but the fit is actually very close). Cup height: Very tall! Almost 1.5" above my shortish roots; (not proportionate with my short torso at all). Wide gore: granted, space is needed for the beautiful lacing detail, but it's both much too wide & tall to fit within my center fullness. It was not uncomfortable. Very wide-set straps: practically under my arms.
Bottom Line: The combination of the wide-set straps and the tall cups caused a lot of gaping with movement, despite that it fit well with normal posture. That is, it didn't gape when standing straight but it did when I started moving around.
I love, love, love the purple with black trim!!! It's such a vibrant shade of purple with a red hue. Makes the black contrast really 'pop'. As for fit, I'm finding this one is not very forgiving if you have an uneven size. Its' structured foam cups are squishy like a memory foam, but I quad on my larger side (especially in the center) and gape on the smaller side. However, the cups are probably too small anyway because the gore doesn't sit flat. Thankfully it's not uncomfortable, despite its' 3" height. (I'm not sure how they call it a plunge with a gore that tall!) The straps are already on the very edge of my arms and do cause some friction. So I'm certainly afraid if I went up a cup size the straps would be cutting well into my armpits. The band feels true to size and has a nice firm stretch. Fabrics are soft...no noticeable scratchiness. Seams do show under a thin top. Oh, why does finding the perfect bra have to be SO difficult?
OK, there's one thing I don't understand: when the straps are clearly too far apart and cut into my armpits, why does Bratabase claim this still fits? Rubbing, chafing, twisted straps, cups buckling at the straps don't make the cut, in my opinion. So instead, I listed the wires were too long (which isn't really accurate, but is the only option to list it as not fitting). Everything else about this bra fit very well. But I can't tolerate straps cutting into my arms. BTW, the 'Blue' colorway is a beautiful shade of Tanzanite...blue, with just a hint of lavender.
I loved this bra with its feminine pink lace overlay and scalloped lace along the bottom of the 3-part seamed cup. Wide wings offered lots of support and the band was comfortable with lots of stretch. Unfortunately, the cup seemed to run a bit large and I had some gaping along the top where my FOB shape was unable to fill it. Will probably try sizing down in the cup for this style, as it otherise was an almost perect shape match.
The band on this bra is quite a bit looser than the 32F in Dusty Rose, and the 32F i had in the plunge version. The cups are also smaller than the dusty rose version, but larger than the 30FF sister size.
The cup on this bra is too big on me, despite Bratabase's recommendation. Fabric is super soft, the gore does not come up too high to squish center breast tissue. Band seems to run true to size. Just wish it fit!
This is a very pretty bra, and for sure this colorway works better for me than the last Parfait I tried.
I didn't really expect the cups to work, because... ha... but this was the only size even close to mine with Prime shipping / free returns, so I figured it would be a good one to assess general fit. The band is okay, but on the tightest hooks it... also feels okay, so I might want a 30 in this particular bra. The cup causes quadding, which is expected since I am usually a 32FF to start with. The narrowness of the wires felt pretty good.
I noticed that the straps are too far apart on this bra. I usually don't, even though I have a tendency to push my straps further in -- it's there, but it doesn't often _bother_ me, if that makes sense.
I love this colorway. In the right size, I think it would make a pretty good t-shirt bra!
Nice projected, rounded shape. Straps were too wide for me. Cut into the front of my armpits. Lots of lines so wouldn't be good under a t-shirt or thin shirt.
Update: I still stand by my statement that this bra fits. However, it only truly fits when I'm standing perfectly still with my shoulders back after I've just put it on. The minute I move or bend over, the cups stay in their shape and pop away from my chest. Makes for a slightly awkward fit, but the size is right. It's a comfortable bra to wear, just not my favorite.
I feel like this is the first bra I've found in a very long time that legitimately FITS. I have relatively wide roots and close set breasts with pretty even projection, so it's difficult to find bras that are plunge-y enough to not have a painful center gore while still being supportive throughout, and this bra fits the bill. It doesn't pinch in the center or the sides, and I feel like I can actually fill the cups instead of spilling out to the sides. So happy with the Jeanie!
I'm finding that plunge/tshirt bras are never going to work for me because of how center heavy I am. I think this bra is also made for shallower breasts, similar to the Casey- which mine are decidedly not. I don't fill the bottom of the cups (Parfait by Affinitas is the only brand in which this happens) and while I quadboob near the bottom/center, there is empty space at the top. It is definitely the wrong shape for me. The straps are on the thicker side, which is nice, as is the molding. It's not enough to be called padded but it holds its shape quite well. The little bow/heart pendant at the gore is kinda cute. Other than that, it's a very plain bra.
Floral Shimmer (SS16). Cups too big. Straps too wide. Nice projected shape. Band seems TTS. Two seams inside the cup. Straps between 0.5 and 1 inch. Will try a cupsize down and see if straps not too wide for me. Right now this is causing the cups to buckle out further and be even more too big.
Did you end up keeping it?
