This bra was the last bra that I tried on today at my local specialty lingerie shop. It’s also the one that I was skeptical about fitting and feeling that it would be too shallow because of the molded foam cups. It’s also a huge surprise at how hard I have fallen for it.
My current shape tends to be tallish but shallow roots (so somewhat functionally short) that are narrow to average width, soft and malleable tissue that’s pendulous which leans towards being even to fob and center full and close set supported/splayed unsupported.
The cups are a single bit of foam that’s covered with a ...sort of geometric triangle print with the diagonal of the cups using a floral stretch lace. I’m not sure, but I think that the triangle lace might be stretchy as well as I was able to pull it back to see the foam cup. The lace goes up quite high to the straps and is designed with being seen in mind like a bralette. Adding to that, the colour of the bra that I tried on was an icy pale blue. The bra is extremely lightweight, so the bralette like lace and this particular colour in combination with it being so lightweight make it an ideal summer bra. The diagonal stretch lace helped me with my center full tissue stay a bit contained.
And now for the cons. The single biggest concern is the band. I did not measure this one but the band has 4 columns of hooks and I was comfortable with the second tightest/third ones in. I don’t think that they make it in a 60, though I have not checked the Chantelle equivalent to this bra. At $75, I’m not sure if it’s even worth it to get a half band of use even if I had a rixie clip or had the band altered. Maybe? I dunno. The other odd bit of the fit is the gore. It’s like it’s not a full fledged gore and the fabric is loose. It’s bizarre though not really the worst problem ever.
When I first looked at the bra, I was skeptical at the fit because it looked super shallow in the side profile, but it didn’t feel like it was in the short time I had it on. Perhaps the band and wires would have shifted south with a bit of movement and activity, but I don’t know. I almost feel like the way that the cup foam is constructed is a credit to the appearance of depth at the wire.
The other concern is whether or not the side tissue is contained enough. It felt fine as did the wire width.
All in all, despite the few fit flaws, I do really like it. I’m not sure if I will ever get it, but maybe if it’s on sale. Read more 372 more words
I think it looks overall great. I got two of them in beige and black thanks to jlcl119 who bought them on us eBay and shipped them to me :D the bra is definitely light to wear and if you find it on sale go for it!
I agree it looks lovely. The color is nice as well.
It’s pretty. I love how low the gore is.
Thanks everyone!
Oh that's really pretty. It's reminiscent of the Natori feathers bra, but with more depth. Looks good on you.
It looks great. It very reminiscent of the natori feathers as wilderness said. I wish so much I could wear this type of bra. It’s so pretty and looks so comfortable.
I’m really surprised at the depth. I almost decided not to try it, but then I was like, why not? It probably won’t fit but it’s experience that I can share. And I got a nice surprise.
My shape: mid-height center-set teardrop with max projection underneath, very shallow super tall roots, very wide roots, all over fullness, and firm tissue that doesn't like to be pushed around.
This review is for the Capri (turquoise) colorway.
Oh, this bra is so cute and such a great color, and I had such high hopes for it after all the fit issues with the 65G - Passionata » Let's Play Balconette Bra (5215) . It is sheer and thus slightly scratchy, but it might soften with the first wash. I think it would be a great light summer bra, which is the main reason I wanted it to ...work. It has its own set of little problems, though, and I just can't reconcile ALL of them to keep it.
First of all, the straps are too far apart. This really isn't a big deal, though, since they aren't cutting into my armpits, and it also doesn't make the top of the cups flex noticeably when I slouch. They are thin, but fully adjustable. They sit quite far out on my shoulders, so the neckline is super-duper open, which I like since my breasts are pretty self-supporting and don't really ever try to escape or bounce out of low tops, but others might not want.
The gore is too wide, or the cups are too far apart. I can't really tell the difference between these two in any bra because the effect is basically the same for me. I CAN tell it is definitely too tall. Luckily, there is almost 3/4" of space in the wire channel, and since I don't ever notice wires poking in my armpits, this is great! If I kept the bra, I would put in a couple of stitches to seal the wire channel at the gore and make it permanent. This shift does make the top of the gore float, but since it no longer has any structure to it and the wires still tack farther down, it doesn't bother me at all.
Let's talk about these wires. I guess that in this case the cups really are too far apart for me because the apex of the wire's curve is farther out past my breast's apex, leaving the wires extending beyond my IMF on the outer curve and contributing to the space left in the bottom of the cup. The edges come all the way to the top of the wing after I shifted them out of the gore, which is actually nice for me because I like tall wings and too-tall wires never poke me there. They are also too narrow, but I actually only noticed while wearing it (instead of after, while looking at the photos) because it makes the top edge of the wing gape and stand away. I have had this issue with some Freya half-cups, and in those cases can sometimes solve it by cross-hooking the band (that is, the top hook in one column and the lower hook in the next-tightest column, which occasionally works because I have a conical ribcage), but I had this on the tightest set of hooks, so I can't really do that.
Lastly, the cups are pretty shallow. This means that the top edge is great on me! I had a [long] phone call in the middle of my try-on, so while lounging on my bed it never gaped, even when I laid sideways. However, where the base of the cup meets the wire I think I need Maximum Projection, so this one shifts downward a bit trying to move my fullness to a bigger part of the cup. I don't think it would be as much of a shift if not for the weird wire curve exaggerating it. Anyway, it has vertical seams and those are always somewhere between good and great on me, so in this case it could have worked.
The band is lined in powernet and is quite stretchy, too, which I dislike. The elastic edges feel comfy, or even a little tight, but because the powernet has a different tension and stretch than the lace outer fabric or the elastic, I still get the bulge. This happens with basically every powernet band I've ever tried, and I don't like any of them.
It's such an adorable little bra, and I live in Hot Summer Country. I am very sad it doesn't work. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> Read more 627 more words
What a lovely bra, and in exactly the style I am hunting for at present! The only problem is, I can't seem to find it on sale on-line anywhere. Could you tell me where you bought yours from please? I'm in the UK, so that might be why I'm having trouble tracking it down!
Yeah single seamed half cups are usually crappy when it comes to immediate projection! You can probably safely avoid all single seamed half cups.
alexad I still have this one; the returns package is sitting on my kitchen table. I bought it at Nordstrom, but if you want a different size I can totally purchase it and ship it to you.
Dear lord is this bra tall. HUGE wings! There wasn't much about it before, but now Bratabase will know..
Such a pretty and unique bra though. Comfy and soft materials might help the tall wings to be more bearable. The wires aren't super hard either, I was just bothered by all the fabric. I know some people can handle the taller wings and might even want them, so it could be a great option for some! It will for sure help to control armpit fat / escaped breast tissue bulges, as many don't like wings cutting in.. But I knew it wasnt for me instantly and didn't bother with adjusting much to see the rest of the fit - which seemed decent really!
Gosh, Id not even think that after I found and mastered my knowledge about the size I wear plus spend fortune on mostly polish bras, I will buy bra in 75D! On the 31st I went shopping to get some food and see what shops offer after christmas sales.. After walking around and spending my money on unnecessary stuffs, my last point was to visit shop where usually I get bras for my mom at decent sales price (luckily they are between £10-15 for Freya, Panache or Fantasie bras). Also, I remember the happiness when once I spotted my 32DD - Fauve » Bronte Plunge Balcony ...Bra (0332) and matching pants for £15 for the set! Nevermind. Ive been always eyeing Passionata in its neon colour while it was still hanging on the racks. So I moved towards the sale basket and started to look between 40-50 mixed sizes and styles bras. Ive found this beauty only in 34D and 36DD (for me and for my mom, yay!). I've took with me few others and decided to try and see how bad they could look in those matrix sizes that I used to wear before (also ive managed to find after freya in 28f that was diseaster when I got home), so I was 99% sure that theyre the wrong size. And I was correct..but wait till the end! The cups are 1 size too small. Its moulded bra with extra thicker layer for push up effect, it is definietly not crazy push-up, as the padded part isnt very thick as in VS for example. My current size is more into 30E-F, where recently 30F fits me better in many bras, so 34D=30E. They do dig into my boobs causing quadboobs on both sides but also does give nice cleavage (^.^). They are also quite big and wide, so I thought that there will be same problem as I do have with Deco. However, even if they end near my tail of spence, they do not cause ANY discomfort and do not rub into my skin! What a surprise! Straps are in great place as I usually struggle with too wide set in many bras, thus my UK bras arent my best friends in many cases. Wires are on the wide size with 15cm, however Ive managed to bend them to 14.3cm, but it didnt change the fit of the bra in any way beside that wires doesnt end that far now. Quadboobs are same as before. The gore is really low as theyre more like hanging that are part of the gore. Thus it makes the bra extremely comfortable. The band is size 75-34, so it's 2 sizes too large on me, I have to close it on the last row and it rides up a bit, however, is still quite supportive! (anyway 30f its fairly small size so not 'that much' support needed for woman who didnt have babies yet). the bottom ribbon unfortunately rolls when the bra is on and doesnt lay flat (especially if you have small belly https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" />) as on the model but it doesnt affect the bra in terms of comfort. My favourite part is its simple and freshy design. The colour is so stunning and feels very summery! Usually I dont buy bras in neon colours but this one is hypnotising! Beautiful soft pinkish orange and the ribbon all over the band! Love it! I must say, IT IS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE bra and its a pleasure to wear it! I love to wear it after Im back from work and during the days im staying at home. Definietly Id love to get it in 30F or even 32E.
I wasn't expecting much from this brand. But wow! This is the softest, thinnest spacer bra I have felt. I love the soft, casual gray. I love the minimal black ribbon at the gore. I wish it fit so badly. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
The band runs a size small. Deep cups. Low wings and gore. The cups are only 5.1" wide but stretch easily so the bra becomes too shallow for me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
I wanted this bra to work so badly. I knew going into it that it was probably going to be a size too big and I ordered it fully aware of that fact (it was so cheap I couldn't not find out if it would fit). This bra technically fits fine but the pros don't outweigh the cons.
Pros: Just as cute in person, cup depth is fine.
Cons: Wires are too wide, wings are too high and the cups themselves are too wide meaning they chafe like the dickens, the gore is very stabby and actually broke skin, the wire channels are a half inch too long meaning this bra doesn't need to be as tall/chafing as it is, and the cups are super tall with lots of excess space at the top along with straps that are too wide set and without anyway to prevent slippage.
And WOW, those cups are SUPER tall. :o I can tell with a quick glance at Amazon that it doesn't look like this in smaller cup sizes, and that is obnoxious. :\ Whyyyy do so many companies not seem to know what to do with larger boobs.
rainbrasspetals I know! It doesn't help that I'm extremely petite but even so that doesn't justify what is going on with these cups. It had so much potential too! I love glitter and was all pumped to wear a bra with some.
Helpful review, beautiful bra :-) Tall cups--I'm running.
omg, that thing seriously looks like it is trying to eat your shoulders. I'm so sorry! I feel like you had a thread about this where I already said the same thing, but you are totally right that this is just too big.
I love this bra, however, I am not particularly a fan of the racer (T) style back. I feel like the band could be a bit tighter and if I were to order another I would get a size 60. Because the band does not ride up it would seem that it fits but I notice that a lot of the weight is being carried from my shoulders and due to the style, it puts pressure on my very lower neck area. For reference: I am projected, round, close set, full on bottom, with medium-narrow root.
For the bra:
Band: Could be tighter. Two hooks. Sturdy
Straps: Not a big fan of of the racer back. Plenty of room to tighten and loosen straps.
Cups: Great coverage. Comfortable stiff material. No quadboob. No nipslip. No gaping.
Gore: Since I am close set, I like the plunge style. Again, as mentioned before, I would like to have a slightly tighter band which would make the gore hug me a little closer (it is just almost sitting on my sternum).
This is one of the better T-Shirt bras I've tried on - the cups are quite soft, no extra padding in there at all, and I would actually call it more "lined" than "moulded" (but it definitely has it's own shape, so it is still moulded). Fits like a true 30 band. It is fairly closed off on top, which is okay for me as I don't have a lot of upper fullness, but it still cuts into my breast tissue a tad. It's not that evident though, since the breast tissue just falls right out of my scoop and swoop after seconds.
I'm not a fan of ...the design of the gore. Since the underwires go up above the band at the gore (you can see in the pictures what I mean), there is a little space between the wires at the gore, and my breast tissue gets stuck there after scoop and swoop. The wires are also a bit narrow for me too, as I can feel breast tissue escaping from the side even after scoop and swoop, but I think that might be because it's a small cup size for me rather than the wires being too small. However, I wouldn't size up as I don't think it'll fix any problems, and I find sizing down a cup for moulded bras work better for me, however if you normally go for your normal size in moulded bras I would say stick with your normal size.
Overall, it's fine for a T-Shirt bra. Can't ask for much of a better fit because I know I'm not going to get one with moulded bras. I will say, it is my first Passionata bra, and it feels like a very good quality. Plus, I never realised how nice it looks to have smooth cups under t-shirts! Read more 198 more words
The band is nice and snug on this, and I feel secure and supported. Overall this bra is not as luxurious as e.g. Chantelle and feels comparatively scratchy, but it also doesn't feel cheap. It's pretty, and looks nice, gives a nice shape and the lace is a little stretchy, not lots. Because of that, I'm worried that if I were to size down it would be too small. Right now the wires are too wide and high - I've got poking in the sternum and under the arms (unusual for me) and some empty cup on the sides. After trying on the bra the marks are clearly out of my IMF - too wide and too low. However, the shape is cute and the lace is nice enough. Doesn't snag like the Chantelle Festivite.
My shape: teardrop with maximum immediate projection/depth but moderate overall projection, tall shallow upper roots, very full and wide side roots, center-height, forward-facing, close-set, with firm tissue that pushes back.
I tried this bra on at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I just tried it on and did not buy it.
I have missed plunges so much! They're all I used to wear, even though the cup shape is usually very wrong for me, because of the gore height. This gore is so low. Center-full ladies or those with soft tissue beware of spilling into the middle, because it's very open. I love it!
It is so soft! I still might go ...back and purchase it, because it was so comfy, but I'd have to re-assess the support.
I really wish it came in one cup size larger and a band size down, because it's not quite wide enough and the wires are just slightly too narrow, but the band is loose enough on the tightest hook that I can't tell at all. I think there's enough immediate depth, even though it looks quite shallow in the photos, but I think if I were to take the band in it would be like some of the Natoris I tried in a 30, which essentially stretched the wires out of shape and made the cup too shallow. In this case, the wires might be wide enough, and are certainly flex-y enough, but it would probably make the cups too shallow.
The top edge is surprisingly soft with plenty of ease, which is a nice change from some of the more heartily-finished balconettes I've been trying, so although I think the cup is a size too small, this one doesn't cut in at all unless I really pull my shoulders back and stick my ribs out and try.
Straps were not too far apart, and adjusted long enough. They were also really soft!
I dunno, I had forgotten what it was like to not have to settle for a gore that was good enough, and combined with the softness I might have to go back and get it. Maybe I could like get a 70G and take it in at the hooks? I'll definitely be thinking about it! Read more 260 more words
I liked this bra a lot, but it seems to run a little small in the cups. The lace edge on the cup ever-so-slightly quadded, but overall supported center fullness pretty well, (especially considering it's a plunge style). At the same time, it also flattened me out just a little and gave a bit of east/west look. I think it'd be perfect for someone who has more width in the center. The triangle lace evenly supports the weight across the entire cup and so tends to camouflage a lack of complete upper fullness.
The straps are anchored in front and only convertible on the back, so this bra cannot convert to strapless or be used for halter or single strap configurations.
I recommend ordering a cup size down for average projection breasts.
This bra is absolutely adorable. By far the cutest one I own. I was really excited to have another molded bra but unfortunately this just doesn't fit that well. I have a very projected shape, and I don't think the cups are quite deep enough for me. However, this doesn't get the same crease at the bottom as other too-shallow bras do. Instead, the part of the cup I don't fill is slightly down and toward the outside of the cup from center. Somehow, the spare boob gets forced out to the sides (even though the bra isn't east-westy) leaving me with more armpit squidge than any other bra I've tried (even though the bra isn't much too small in the cups after swoop-n-scoop). The wire is uncomfortable and stabby on the outer edges, and the straps are set extremely wide. I'm mystified by the weird fit issues every time I wear it, but it's sooo cute. Also gives good cleavage though little lift. Lace looks like it would show under shirts but doesn't seem to.
I will preface this by saying that this is NOT what you are going to expect a "convertible" bra to be. Both sides of the straps are not removable--it is only the back part. HOWEVER, there are multiple incisions along the band, so you can place the back ends of the straps in multiple places. Unlike many other convertibles, these have a very secure fit.
This is a plunge bra, which I am not used to. There is some gapping in the center, so I think I am going to return this bra, as I believe it will ...show under some tight shirts. Similar to the gapping in my 30DD - Fit Fully Yours » Smooth Strapless (B1003).
The padding in the cups is a nice amount; no push up padding, etc.
Other features: The bra actually has 4 rows of hooks, which is interesting. The band is somewhat stretchy, but upon trying on seems to fit my 28" ribcage on the loosest hooks (I prefer 28s, but I get what I can).
It is currently on sale on the Nordstrom website, where I bought it. If anyone wants to know anything about this bra before I return it tomorrow morning, please comment asap! Size range from Nordstrom seems to be 30 C-FF, 32C-FF, 34D-FF, 36C-FF; depending on the colorway (there are different listings for different colorways, for some reason, and different colorways have different sizes in stock). Also a 42DD and 44E. Read more 149 more words
The cups are very shallow and wide, they have some padding. Boobs look bigger then they are, but there is no cleavage. The band is comfortable and true to size, the straps have J-hook.
Gives a nice shape, and pretty colour. Not the best quality, the band and cup fabric has visibly stretched and the lace is more pilled than on my Freya or panache bras.
My heart breaks because this bra is so beautiful but it couldn't possibly fit any worse. The fabric is a lovely earthy red colour, pretty stretchy throughout. The wires are remarkably short, there's also no real gore - I guess to achieve the plunge effect. The cups are interesting: it's a rather shallow and short, soft molded cup and then a triangular piece of lace that stretches to the straps, and thereby forms the top of the cup. It's a shame but I am spilling out on all sides of this bra. The plunge works - but let me tell you it is not very sexy when the entire bra is digging into you, haha. I'd consider getting a different size but honestly, I'd have no idea where to even start. I don't think this bra could give me the support I want.
This bra isn't a great fit for me. Partly because it's the wrong size for me (36E, just learned I should be 34G/GG), but mostly for other reasons. It's a racerback, which always seem to ride too close on my neck - yet the straps are really wide set. The gore is great. The underwires are too low for me, but probably because the cup is too small.
I think it looks overall great. I got two of them in beige and black thanks to jlcl119 who bought them on us eBay and shipped them to me :D the bra is definitely light to wear and if you find it on sale go for it!
