My search for an affordable sports bra or two is continuing long and (mostly) fruitless. There is nowhere in town that carries Panache's sports bra so I can try it on, and Freya's doesn't agree with me, not least because of the super high wires in the center, so compression bras it is! However, finding one that is tight enough in the band without squishing the boobs is like finding a needle in a haystack.
This one is probably the best of these I've tried. It does squish me some, but out of all the ones I tried at Dick's recently, this one was the most comfortable. I really ... don't notice the squash while I'm wearing it; larger-breasted ladies might. The band is wide, comfy, and lovely and tight and doesn't shift during the day or move around at all. Considering that when the bust fits, the band is usually so loose that I get no support or bounce-reduction, I think this one is pretty much a win.
The straps don't adjust, but that's ok for me. They are comfy and the seams don't dig like the last one I owned. The cups are foam and inserted between the outer and lining layers, and don't seem to shift around much or crumple and they prevent show-through nicely.
My chief complaint would probably be that it doesn't hook, but that only becomes a problem when I do stupid things like breaking my thumb at work, and thus can't hook my thumb under the band to take it off. Also, I noticed a strange sensation when I was stretching the first time I wore it, which I determined to be caused by the outer fabric sliding over the cups, which must be tacked to the lining layer. It was weird! Not terrible, though, and I'll get used to it. Plus, like I said, short of a $60+ bra, this is the best one I've tried. Yay, Under Armour!
PS - It's purple! I love purple.
