    Didn't fit

My favourite bra from Victoria's Secret, and the only style I bought there when I could still fit in their bras.

    Didn't fit

I bought this bra as a beautiful but comfy t-shirt bra. The majority of the cup is very smooth so it works under most shirts. The top and sides of the cup have lace and jewels so if your shirt is extremely tight then they might show the texture under a shirt, but otherwise it really works as a t-shirt bra. The band seems to be stretching out to me, but to be fair I have alternated between this bra and one other for the last 2 months because I don't have any others that are close to fitting and can't justify the expense of ... buying other bras for my rotation that also don't fit properly. Pros: absolutely gorgeous, color is light enough that it doesn't show under most light clothing, the fabric is quite comfortable, it's supportive without a block of push up pad in it that would hoist your boobs up to your chin. Cons: I don't think this is a problem with the bra but probably just with the fit because I bought the largest they had in the smallest band size, but the underwire in the cleavage pokes into the bottom of the center of my breasts so the gore couldn't sit flat if it wanted to. I assume this means that the cup is quite a bit too small. The poking isn't uncomfortable but it looks silly. Because the band is not the right size, I find myself having to bend over and pour myself into the bra because I have some spillage underneath throughout the day. And try as I might to pull everything from the middle back into the cup, it just doesn't work. I have a small bit of quad boob on top, but the real problem is the quad boob in the lower center of the cleavage area. I didn't even know this was a thing. My husband doesn't notice it but when I look down I see it in my cleavage. I guess in this area it would be more appropriately called "double cleavage" rather than quad boob, lol.

***Edited the bra measurements because I made a mistake on one of them the first time. Also added more photos showing the problems that I have with the way this particular bra fits (or doesn't fit) my body.

    • Goodness, 8.5" deep is very small compared to a lot of other 32F (DDD) bras! Do all VS bras run this small? I have never bought bras there as they only carry a limited size range.

Spillage underneath sounds unbelievably annoying. What do you think your true band size is? You look petite in the back, but there are brands that offer 28 bands and even 26. The choice of designs isn't terribly broad, but they're out there, and the prices are comparable to Victoria's Secret.

    • I'm not sure how the size compares to other bras labeled 32DDD or F because I have only tried this one and another of the same style also from VS. I had training bra sizes breasts (literally the all cloth triangle bras) after nursing 2 of my 4 children with nothing left but sagging empty skin. So I thought I was finished having children and had implants placed to fill the skin. That put me at a 32D (per the VS sizing ladies, although I now know that probau was still the wrong size.) I remarried and we had 2 more babies who I breastfed with the implants, and I had saggy skin but was living with it. My implants were 12 years old and I had capsular contracture. So I recently had them replaced and had to go larger due to the stretched skin from the pregnancies and nursing. My rib cage measures 27". The lady at VS who measured me after my surgery said that she thought I was a 30 or possibly a 28, but they didn't carry those. I felt so stupid when I bought those bras because she told me I was supposed to always start with the loosest set of teeth and tighten as it stretched out. Why don't they tell us this in middle school? I had no clue. I have always worn a band that was too big and just used the tightest closure possible.

I ended up getting this bra and another Dream Angels bra, same size. They both fit the same way although the other one I think has a little wider sternum section (blanking on the name of that now) but it does the same cutting into the bottom of the mid breast. I haven't measured that one but I assume it's the same. I couldn't wear their 32DDD push up bras without laughing hysterically at how much I looked like a cartoon of someone trying too hard so those went right back on the rack.

I also get an attack of the giggles when a bra fits me too badly! lol! I'm glad I'm not the only one... other people seem to mostly get upset by it. I just find it so comical :-D

It sounds like you would be really comfortable in a 28 or 30, and there are LOTS of good choices in that range. Are you ready to shop for new bras, or not yet? If you are, the size calculator on this site is only a ballpark indicator, but the search by measurements feature is a godsend. The perimeter of your larger breast, taken lying down, is a decent guideline for the cup depth you want, and you can also search for a specific stretched band length (in your case I'd search for 28" or so).

    • PS the sternum section (between the breasts) is called bridge or gore. On this site and in most bra blogs it seems to be much more common to use the term gore.

    • PPS I'm in awe that you are a mom of 6 kids. My 2 girls are kicking my behind, figuratively speaking, and they're not even difficult children.

    • Oh Lord no! 4 kids. 2 from my previous marriage and then 5 years later 2 from this marriage. I may have written that wrong, lol.

Oh that visit to VS was pretty comical. My husband was never a boob man before but since I've had my corrective surgery he is suddenly obsessed. So all of those way too small bras that make you look like Jessica Rabbit, he was wanting to get just for private use lol. Umm, no thank you, lol.

I am wanting to get some bras that fit correctly but I'm kind of paranoid about making that leap and buying online and it not being the right size. This 32DDD is technically too small but before I brought the sales lady in the dressing room I was going to leave with a 32DD. I just didn't realize how they were supposed to fit. That is sad, but I guess most women aren't wearing the right size so most of us don't realize how it really should fit.

I actually found this site when I was searching for how to alter a bra band to shorten it and someone who had a tutorial was raving about all of the knowledgeable ladies here. Now that I'm here I see that there have been many mentions of EBay having options for buying some of the larger sizes at really low prices. I'm "watching" a few bras to see if I can pick up a few options for a decent price. I just have that silly paranoia that paralyzes me when I think about buying something online if I'm not 100% certain of my size. And then bras make it even harder since they aren't uniformly sized. I'm a chicken and a cheapskate at the same time. :)

The suggested starting point size this site gave me was 28G (us) and I know that is just a ballpark guess but I wouldn't know where I could try one on to see how it fits aside from just ordering online.

You're in the US, right? Try Amazon. Free returns and exchanges. It makes the process a bit slow, but you have nothing to lose! On there, you'll be shopping mostly the mid-price British brands (typical range is $30 to 60). Parfait, Curvy Kate, Freya, Cleo, Panache.

A few hints on fit: Cleo often runs particularly tight at least at first, and it also runs a little small in cups as well, so if you find Cleo bras you want to try, I would suggest ordering 28 and 30 bands (so like 28GG and 30G). Freya bands run loose and stretchy, and are more generous in the cup, so you definitely want to start out with 28s there.

    • Thanks so much, Wendy! That is very helpful! I'm going to give it a try.

    • Good luck to you! I wore a 32DDD for years, and after my hip surgery last year, decided the pain from wearing what had become apparent was not the right size, in addition to my hip pain, was just too much. I found out I'm actually around a 26J in UK sizes, and my best bras are Comexim in a 55M/N or 60 L/M depending on if the 60s run tight. ( the band sizes on Comexim are based on centimeters) I hope you can find a bra that works for you and makes you feel like a million bucks-we all deserve that! =^__^=

    • Thanks Eternalheartcreations! Wow! That is a huge band difference! I'm glad you found something that worked better. I still can't believe that all or most stores don't carry all available sizes. I get that they might not sell them often, but geez Louise! At least they could carry 1 or 2 of them just in case they get people that need them. Wishful thinking I suppose. It used to be really hard to find any jeans smaller than a 3/4 when I was in high school and looked like I was from Ethiopia, but then they started carrying them more reliably, so maybe one day the stores will get on board! :)

This bra fits around my boobs really well. The only things that is uncomfortable is the fact that the band is too big for me, so it leaves all the weight on the straps which leaves lots of marks on my shoulders. The straps also slide off my shoulder, no matter how tight I make them. Other than the band and the straps, this is the most fitting bra I've worn to date. After plenty of washes and use, it does stretch, but since I already had it on the tightest it would go, it just weighed more and more on my shoulders. I have had the bra for a while and the under wire is poking out on the right side.

I bought this bra before learning my real size. Unfortunately it's too small. The bra is really adorable though.

This was my favourite bra from VS until I grew out of their sizes. So comfy. I altered the band to make it last a little longer for me.

Band is much too big. The underwire slides down from the root to around where the bottom of my boobs hit when they're sagging freely. When I pull them back up, the cup just gives out under the weight of my boobs, twists down on the underwire, and pushes the whole thing back down my ribcage. Cup padding has the tendency to try and wing out where the straps attach and point at my shoulders, so the straps are angled way off my clavicle and won't stay up.

This is a very lovely quite comfortable bra, and I wish VS made bra's to fit most normal women, but while I can make this bra work, it doesn't nearly fit me.

I'm careful about how often i wear this bra because I know (from experience with VS bras) that it will stretch out. When I do wear it, the molded cups fit my boobs perfectly. It actually lies almost flat against the gore. The lace does not scratch me. Since it is a few inches too large around the rib cage, it does ride up. Overall, besides the fact that it doesn't fit, this is a really good bra.
