On this fictitious example, E cups in US correspond to DD cups in UK.

Later, at some point they decided to change how they do their cup conversions, in this case:

Note the introduction of DD, DDD cups shifting now E cups match to F cups.

Now, people that was buying by US sizes will now be confused on why things don't fit the same.
