If you have difficulty finding a gore narrow enough for close-set breasts, try this model. The wires will completely overlap at the top which prevents the "twist and wrinkle" I routinely experience. Wacoal, again, provides a solution where other manufacturers do what they have always done; ignore those of us with very close-set breasts (Panache, Cleo, Curvy Kate,....).
Typical Wacoal with high quality materials, lightweight, supportive band, tonal lace, and a single seamed cup with excellent immediate projection.
The Great Amazon Prime Wardrobe Try-On, Pt 2! My shape: FOB, narrow roots/shoulders, soft tissue, 32G (though I'm thinking maybe more 30G since a lot of these 32 bands are too stretchy for me!) Fit: Ok, when they say "Retro Chic," they certainly mean it. Though this bra fits me technically, it's not my ideal shape at ALL. It's VERY POINTY! If that's the shape you are going for, this works perfectly and fits true to size. This would work really well if you are trying to get a 50's style, or wearing a 50's costume or something. The cups and gore are very tall. Appearance: My first thought when trying this ...one was, "Oh man, this is a granny bra." (No offense to any grandmas on here!) It kind of is, but I feel that way about beige bras in particular. (They are a necessary evil as far as I'm concerned; if I didn't need one badly to wear under white shirts, I wouldn't own one at all!) It's sort of plain, with beige lace all over the cups. There's a tiny bow with a gem at the gore. Overall: This is really comfortable, but I definitely wouldn't wear it out unless in a poodle skirt costume or something. Read more 99 more words
Thank you for adding the bra on photo! It really helps with the visual that a bra only picture can't provide. We have a few on here that are always looking for this exact style so it great that you added it to the site! :-)
It's fun, playing "bra dress up" hahah. I didn't take photos of all of the bras I got, as some were SUPER see through and/or way too big. I feel bad calling this a "granny bra" too, since it actually fit me pretty well. I like the looks of the black version of this one better!
No worries! I am sure everyone understands what you mean. Perfect for those concerned with comfort and conservative hidden under clothes look. Something we'd imagine our grandmother choosing as compared to bold bright or wild. I'm 44 with a 22 year old & 4 year old, but I still prefer wild and bold. :-)
This is an incredibly lightweight bra with shaping power. If you can tolerate a 1.1" wide gore and need "better than most" immediate projection, Halo Lace is a great option. Although the cup edge is closed, the lace is stretchy and accommodates size and shape variation. In summer, this would be a dramatic relief to my other, less-ventilated bras.
The flat lace is invisible under thin knits. The shape is rounded and lifted. The straps are peached, soft, and supportive.
Although this band stretched to just over 32", the immediate projection was so good, that the band was significantly long. If I try this again, I'll purchase a 32g. But, this gore width is a definite deterrent.
Not a good choice for close-set, center-full breasts unless you are comfortable with alterations. Otherwise, a fantastic lightweight, readily available bra with excellent immediate projection.
oh yes I've tried this and it was sooo comfortable! FYI in a 32F or G (can't remember), I did not find the gore crazy wide... it was so high that it ended above the part where my boobs sit close together in a bra anyway, but you might find the problem goes away in that size.
Thanks for sharing :-) I just found an inexpensive 32G on Ebay.
It does like it has great 'shaping power' for a lace bra. nice find
Wilderness1 it does and good quality nonstretch lace is actually more robust than regular fabric. I didn't buy one as I found it very minimizing and I wasn't looking for that, but it's definitely a firm-shaping type of cup!
Wilderness1 It feels so flimsy, but effortlessly lifts and rounds. I recommend trying it just to experience the fabric. Of all the bras I've tried, this is the lightest and most impressive fabric.

It has the following features: 1. Cushioned straps 2. 3x3 fasteners 3. Super soft cup and band lining 4. Invisible under thin knits 5. Wide straps 6. .75" elastic band for support
@klilly3 , you too, may appreciate this most comfortable wireless option. It has several of my most favorite design elements and provides support without a wire. The band is typical of Wacoal and runs an inch short. And, the straps are partially adjustable My straps are adjusted 75% of maximum. Low set/tall users may find the straps too short. But, we petite/high-set/short-waisted users can rejoice https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />
This size pulls too tight under my arm and the band feels short on my 28" underbust. Projected breasts may need to size up in the cup. I'm off to find an inexpensive 34DDD... https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Very surprising shape and support! Now I'm curious to see how it would look under my T-shirts during the summer. Thanks for the review, Love4Pollinators !
The shape *should* improve in the proper size. And, if you have quite a bit of projection, you may need to size up. Super soft and lightweight: I'm in love ;-)
Oh man, where to start. This strapless bra is all kinds of wrong. I had high hopes for it at least sort of working, but this is a major bra fail. It’s a very stiff cup bra. It floats so high off my chest at the center gore and it squished my boobs out in an awkward East-West spread. The band fabric is comfortable soft, but with the width of it, it ends up pushing my body fat down giving me back rolls. I didn’t even bother trying it with the straps. I packed it back up as fast as I could to start the return process.
If anyone has any strapless suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate it. In a perfect world I’d have an Ewa Michalak BM strapless bra. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
But I know it's different from all the others because it uses vertical lines, and the BrasIHate blog has long recommended "why is there not a strapless bra that uses vertical lines?" Lol. wow, your tan looks great, California lady!
This is giving me flashbacks to being 14 and only being able to find like 5 sub 34 above DDD bras in the department stores around me, all of them Wacoal, lol. I've also heard good things about the Curvy Kate Luxe but haven't tried it. Maybe Chloe of Fuller Bust Inspo's video on strapless bras will be of help to you, though she's a bit out of your/our size range? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sIC13ETuTg
I've heard great things about curvy Kate luxe but haven't tried it. I tried five or six this summer and the best were wonderbra ultimate strapless and a delimira I got from Amazon. I was looking for a plunge though so there may be better nonplunge options.
Thanks you guys. I’ll check out all the recommended bras. I’m open to try anything if it will get the job done. :)
Very short-waisted, center full, close set, immediately projected, shallow apex projection, full on bottom, and somewhat narrow breasts....
Holy Snowball, Batman! I can painlessly run in this bra. You read that correctly. I just chased my young daughter around the house x 3 in this bra. Whoa. I can't believe it. Finally, I feel supported in a wired bra.
After feeling painfully constricted in a 32G La Femme a month ago and admitting not even my wireless bras are comfortable now, I endeavoured to try La Femme again. The 32 band is no longer tight in this 32H. Just a reminder for myself: if a bra feels tight, wear ...it upside down and backward before assuming you need a larger band. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />
I am supported, lifted, and tethered in this 32H. The gore is still 50% wider than I require. And, the wires look too wide. But, when the cups sit on the bra cradle where my breasts require, the wire is a near perfect fit. When I rotate one gore wire flat onto my chest, the cup fits beautifully. Otherwise, a .25" gore gap is present in each cup. When I began my journey, I would have assumed this cup was too large. It is not. The bra is simply designed for breasts further apart than mine. Again, center-full, close-sets breasts are a definite fit challenge.
I prefer La Femme over Freya Deco for several reasons. If you'd like to read them, click here http://bra.pe/XWGS/
Wacoal is one of my favorite bra manufacturers because of their material selection. This bra creates amazing round orbs under thin t-shirts. Not an ideal fit, but I may be able to alter enough to fit. Read more 178 more words
Wow, I can't believe you found a wired bra that, at least for the moment, feels supportive and comfortable!
I love it. I also loved your note to self regarding the band! While it made me laugh, I totally get what you are saying. Looks great under a top too! :)
I just got a Wacoal Seduction Spacer and a La Femme on eBay from a great seller. The spacer is amazing. The La Femme is so close to being perfect, but not quite. I agree that Wacoal uses quality materials and for that reason they are my favorites. The La Femme looks wonderful on you. Congratulations!
I've accumulated 5 La Femmes over the past year and they are consistently the bras I reach for every day. It's not a perfect fit but closer than anything else I have. Also cute and comfortable! My only issue is most of the new colors are not available in my size. It looks great on you.
It looks amazing under the shirt! Wow!
cupandahalf My husband almost choked on his milk. ;-) ;-)
Very short, projected, slightly narrow, even, close set, center-full breasts...
Because I thought I could easily find a more beautiful, well-fitting, supportive bra, I started my bra fitting adventure after being professionally fitted in a 32DD Wacoal Basic Beauty Full Figure Seamless Bra. Nine months and 96 bras later, I return to a very similar Wacoal bra, much poorer and having experienced significant discomfort.
The wire does push out of my IMF, but that happens in 95 of the other bras, too. Unlike the other bras, it doesn't hurt in the Basic Beauty. There are no deep red welts under each breast after wearing. And, for those of you ...familiar with torturous Cleo and Panache wires, Wacoal wires are soft, supportive, and comfortable. There is substantial padding around the wire in this Wacoal model. Thank you, Wacoal!
Like all the others, the gore is too wide; a few cut threads and stiches will remedy that issue. I had been ordering "overlapped gore wires" from Comexim. This resulted in a gore .7" wide. And, once overlapped, much more effort was required to disassemble that alteration. I've discovered Wacoal gores are relatively easy to disassemble, narrow, and overlap. This creates a .4" wide gore. With very close-set breasts, I will take the most narrow gore I can buy or easily alter. Advantage Wacoal https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Although the straps are partially adjustable, surprisingly, they easily shorten enough for my petite stature. In some Freya bras, I was not able to shorten the straps enough. The straps are wide (.7") and lightly padded in the front.
Although the cup is tall, it is closed. Taller roots may experience cutting in, but this is a fantastic bra for short roots who appreciate full coverage cups. In fact, the cup is cutting into my shorties. I've ordered the 32G which may remedy that issue....and create a few other issues https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> The material is just thick enough to cover prominent nipples. However, it is remarkably thinner than Ewa Michalak, Comexim, Curvy Kate, and LuLu Tout padded/t-shirt bras. This does not add bulk, but it does collect, round, and draw breasts near the chest. According to Wacoal, this cup is made from two layers of fabric and designed to breathe. Soon, I will know how it "breathes" in 100+ degrees F with high humidity. Hoping for the best https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
For those of us who value comfort, supportive bands are cherished. I was delighted the 32DD had three rows of hooks. Imagine my elation when discovering four rows on this 32DDD. Not one of the 96 other bras has a band this supportive. A 32" Curvy Kate band rides up instantly. 30" Curvy Kate rides up within 15 minutes. 32" Wacoal stays firmly in place all day. I strongly suspicion the wide band distrubutes the weight of my projected breasts away from the wire under my breasts. And, the narrow Ewa Michalak bands just can't provide this level of comfort for me.
The back is a thoughtfully designed leotard back with the straps sewn on more narrowly. If you've experienced problems with straps falling off, you may love the "strap security" of this bra. I find the center strap placement helps lift the weight of my breasts off the wire better than wide-set straps. I would not jog or jump on a trampoline in this bra, but the support is sufficient for 95% of my activities. And, the straps will never fall off my shoulders https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Now, the part I loathe to discuss: aesthetics. Because my favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla, I suppose it is predictable I would like this vanilla (a.k.a. "bland") bra. No. It looks like a viking breast plate before the ornate decorations. It is, however, simple, tasteful, and elegant in its own way. Because the cup is tall, it is often visible in more open necklines: my wardrobe will adapt. Thoughtfully, this bra is available in basic colors as well as several "fashion" colors; a pleasant array. This summer I discovered fabric dyes--fun https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" /> And, after 95 uncomfortable bras, now I know comfort is more important to me than aesthetics.
Well, I'm off to overlap the gore of this highly comfortable, supportive bra. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
EDIT: After narrowing the gore, the lack of center projection became apparent. And, the newly narrowed gore still sat upon my breast. Although this bra receives strong recommendations from me, it is not ideal for those of us who require significant center projection. And, tall roots may find the cups too closed. Otherwise, this is fantastically supportive and rounding bra.
I like it. If you are not wearing low cut, what could be better than this one? I am of to Amazon.
Demitasse Hope you find a great price! I was able to purchase two for less than I paid for the first one two years ago.
Thanks for the great review. I just got one of these recently (same color). Mine is a mere 32C and has so much less work to do yet still has 3 hooks, hurray! This is the most supportive bra I have ever owned, and never really new what support was until I put this bra on. Glad you found something you can wear after 95 attempts.
Wow. I am amazed. Why haven't I discovered Wacoal before?! This is the most comfortable bra ever, the wires are perfect in width and the cups are wonderfully soft. The band is ever so slightly too big, but I sam so happy with this fit that I am able to overlook it. It is a keeper!
It has a firm band and the elastic feels very soft on the skin. The wires are very flexible and are the first ones that don’t hurt me. Cups are made from elastic lace without seams and has an extra layer of elastic mesh on the sides to push the breasts more to the front.
I have a love-hate relationship with this bra. I got it about a year ago, after losing my pregnancy weight and struggling with La Senza bras for a while before finally giving up on them. I've since found better bras and I don't really reach for this one anymore. I wore it today though, because my only other nude bra needed the day off and I wanted to wear a white t-shirt. I felt my review needed an update.
I love it because it's the first non-nursing bra that actually fit me. Ever. It gets a lot of bonus points for that. I love it because it's nude and ...seamless and disappears under my clothing. Unless I'm super cold, it does a good job hiding my nipples. I also spent *a lot* of money on this thing because it was before I discovered boutique markups and all the fantastic deals you can get online.
I hate it because the band is really, really tight. It feels fine for a couple hours and then feels like it's trying to saw me in half. To be fair, that's more a shape problem. It's shallow and I'm not. The foam cups are made of that spacer fabric and it's very forgiving, so it tricks you into thinking it's a fabulous fit when it really isn't.
I hate it because of the shape it gives. Again, not it's fault. It's very minimizing, mostly due to its shallow shape. It has a sling inside the cups supposedly to bring your breasts more front and centre, but I'm pretty sure that's just a marketing gimmick. My breasts are very centre-full, but this bra pulls them as far apart as they can go.
I hate it because it looks like such an old lady bra. Again, not it's fault. Some people like that look. It's very practical and utilitarian. It's just not very cute. Read more 205 more words
Excellent assessment of the fit! Thanks for a great review.
Thank you :)
I have a wireless Wacoal whose band is also really tight, Keylime . I had to size up a band. I even could size up another band.
This is so similar to my experience with this bra. I adore the wide, super supportive band but the gore width is too wide for close-set breasts: love and hate. ;-)
This bra is super stretchy in every part of it, from the wires to the cup fabric to the band. I wear on the last or middle set because of this. The cups work great on my different sized breasts. The lace on the outside of the cups doesn't lay flat is noticeable through shirts. But for only $9 it's pretty great. The only negative is that the gore is a little tall for me so it sits on a tiny bit of breast tissue, but since it's so soft and stretchy it doesn't hurt. The rhinestone attachment, is a little gaudy and it snags on knits and other bras in my drawer, I'll probably remove it.
Yay! Wacoal does make some fabulous lace bras. Not all of them, however, are fabulous for all of us. ;-) Glad you found one that works for you!
Wacoal is my go to bra. I just wish they made more matching panties. They do in their Wacoal Europe line, but not so much with what they produce for us here in the US
yeah, i wish that i could easily order Wacoal Japan bras. the only place i know of is on Shirohato's website and then it's around $30 shipping... the japanese style's fit me better, but the sizing is different and i wear a 70F in those. ugh.
Wacoal Bodysuede and Awareness bras are in a league all their own!! Although not ideal for narrow breasts, the wires are ideal for my "somewhat narrow" breasts. And, though an imperfect fit, these fit imperfections are almost tolerable considering the padding enveloping every millimeter of steel in this bra. Forgive and forget....it is possible with padded wires https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />
Padded Wires: Now that I have experienced padded wires, I may never wear a bra without padded wires again. My ribs have virtually no padding and they flare. This has made 99.9% of underwires intolerable. And, had wireless options been less padded, more ventilated, and/or ...provided mechanisms to prevent my projected pair from collapsing the cup and the band, subsequently, digging into my ribs, I would have not continued to search for a wired bra. Fortuitously, my seemingly unending quest for comfort has landed me here with Bodysuede.
Fabric: "Body Microfiber" is a more accurate description of this bra. Fellow lovers of water, this laudable Wacoal creation will shed microplastics in our water supply when washed. I hope gentle hand washing in Euclan will dramatically reduce the microplastic shedding at my home. (@Wacoal the popularity of these bras requires a cradle-to-grave solution. Please.) However, these microplastics are the most soft, supple bra fabric ever. If unaware of the plastic, I would choose this over silk. Soft, soft, soft.
Lift: Whoa. My nipples are lifted 2" higher in Bodysuede than in my push-up bras; all with zero padding. This lift causes a collision at the gore and a bit of quadding along the top edge of the cup. But, the support is incredible. I thought this would create a minimizing profile, but the profile is round and ample. In truth, both Awareness and Bodysuede are better fits for my projected, somewhat narrow breasts than I ever imagined. They fit more like a "hand bra" than any unlined bras I've thus far tried.
Size: This bra fits similarly to 65H Gorsenia K000-K199/"Big" models. In fact, even the immediate projection in Bodysuede is similar--excellent. Like I do in the Gorsenia 65H, I need a bit more apex projection and cup width. If this were a Polish bra, I'd buy the next size up and know with 90% certainty the bra would fit. But, Wacoal uses larger scaling increments than Polish manufacturers, and the 34DDD (32G sister size) may be too large. I'll find an inexpensive, used model to try for bra science. I'm stunned more data is not available for these wildly comfortable bras. I theorize people find these bras and their search is over https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> Certainly, Bodysuede and Awareness have dramatically reduced the pool of "qualified applicants" in my wardrobe. After 300+ bras, I am thrilled!
Gore: If you're familiar with my reviews, you've read this 250+ times: the gore is too wide for my center-full, close-set breasts. Typically, this is where I surrender. I've overlapped gores in the past and found my self suddenly stuffed into a too-small bra. Or, I've overlapped the gore and the wires still sit on my breast tissue along the gore and 1/4 the way along the underside of each breast. Bodysuede's .8" gore is 50% too wide.
Recently, I successfully removed the wires from another Wacoal bra and replaced them with #40 BravoBella flex wires. This is precisely what I'll do with Bodysuede. The BravoBella #40 wire is approximately the same width, but it is shorter both at the gore and wing. My short-waisted self demands shorter wires than Wacoal usually offers in my size. The shorter wire combined with wire padding may be the perfect solution for my wire woes. Hoping https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Straps: Cushioned, partially adjustable, best for average height, wide, SUPPORTIVE. I like these straps so well, I'm transplanting them from used/inexpensive models onto bras that need better straps. If comfort is more important than appearance, you, too, may adore these straps.
Synopsis: 100% smitten. However, I lament that padded wires are not, yet, available for all bras, all styles, all sizes. And, I hope Wacoal, as always, expands their size range.
EDIT: This fits with Bravo Bella 42 wires during the smaller two weeks of the month. Purchasing a 34DDD for the larger two weeks. Read more 608 more words
Yay! You've found a near-ideal underwire bra that works with your body - and you have a solution in mind for the gore width problem. That is awesome. The t-shirt pic shows a remarkably flattering, lifted and shaped profile! Padded underwires are the best - my old Maidenforms had them and they were quite nice, even if the bra was otherwise all wrong. I might have to give this Wacoal model a go just because your review makes it sound so darn comfy! Thanks for the thorough review as always!
2ks-rddit-80 :-) :-) The available sizes are limited....
Wow, that's a great lift! I underestimated these bras. No wonder my grandma wears them exclusively. :)
Padded wires sound lovely. I also have a flared ribcage and trouble with wire pain. I wonder if I could sew padding onto the wire channel of my bras without affecting the fit too much?
wild_muses I've been contemplating this myself. If you find a padding mechanism that works, please share your methodology! :-) :-)
I took the wires out of this bra and still it was lifting. Amazing! Like you, I never gave these a second thought. But, once I have the #42 Bravo Bella wires in, this may be the only unlined bra I wear.
I had pretty good luck in wearing this bra in a 32DDD, but due to some weight gain the triple D’s just don’t fit as comfortably. While I still love the comfort and style of this very basic bra, I don’t feel I get as much uplift with this size. I feel a little more east-west spread.
I'm shocked at how close together the gore is on this bra! Also, the back looks sssuper comfy! That gave you 4 hook and eye closures! : ) And the straps and closer to the center, too!
The Great Amazon Prime Wardrobe Try-On, Part 3 My shape: full on bottom, soft tissue, narrow shoulders/roots. Appearance: I feel like the name of this bra, "Stark Beauty," is a bit off, as it really is a pretty bra. When I think of "stark," I think of a. Game of Thrones and b. harsh and plain. This isn't either of those things, haha! The inside fabric of the bra is a soft beige, and the outer cups are covered with a see-through floral black lace. The gore has this little cut out top part (see pictures) and the straps are stretchy black elastic. This isn't a molded bra, but it ...also doesn't have seams. It's a soft, stretchy unlined style. Fit: I like that the straps narrow inward as they travel up my shoulders, but that's pretty much the only thing I like about this bra. The wires poke outward on the sides into my armpits and the gore doesn't tack. The band feels pretty true to size, but I think the cups are at least one size too small for me. (Probably a misunderstanding between the UK and the US sizes.)
Yeah a US 32G is a UK 32F, so 2 cups too small. I love that inner support sling! I wonder if it would be comfortable in the correct size, or if it would result in being too wide. Either way, it's a lovely looking bra, sorry it didn't fit you.
I'll check to see if Prime has my for real size available for this one! it really is a pretty, interesting looking bra, and I love the strap placement on them!
With Prime, it's a risk free venture for sure, but just to forewarn you, two cup sizes up would have the wider set straps for sure. :-/ The plus side is that it provides scaling data here! I love it when we have the same model in multiple tiers in a row, especially when measured by the same person since that shows true scaling (& not just changes in measuring technique. ) So, with that, I'd encourage you to try it in a US 32H (32FF UK) and a US 32I (32G UK) for data purposes. :-D Sister sizing data is also helpful for the same reason. (Only if you're in a statistical bra mood of course, haha!)
This sports bra is so comfortable that although this size didn't fit me, I went hunting for a larger cup size. Yeah, I was that impressed after trying 7 or 8 others. I need underwire (my ladies are very soft, pendulous and projected) and need taller cups in a sports bra to contain my tissue comfortably. I also have challenges with tissue (tail of spence perhaps?) being crushed between the strap and wing that can be especially painful in cups that are too short/small/constricting. This Wacoal Sport Underwire Bra was the first model I found that did not torture me so, even though it ...was too small. It passed the bounce test, run test, and burpee test. The straps are wide and supportive, and adjust enough to work for me on the very last hook (beware if this is typically a trouble area for you!). The strap adjustment is only barely long enough though, and it's a little hard to get on because I have large upper arms (33 cm circumference) and am not one of those talented souls that can hook a bra behind my back. These are just a couple of things to be mindful of if you are considering this bra. It has four rows of hooks and feels very supportive, which I like a lot. I prefer the feel of an encapsulation sport bra, and the wires of this bra come darn near to tacking in the actual size that fits me (not this 32DDD - my winning size is a 32G in this bra). The way the underwires are on the outsides of the cups is pretty brilliant - the center gore comes very, very, very high but I am not bothered by that because of how this bra is constructed. This sports bra gets sweaty but feels breathable because it's a fairly thin material. To that end, nipples may show through - mine do, and that's meaningful because this is seldom a problem for me. If you have prominent nipples you prefer to keep on the DL this bra may not be right for you. Also relating to looks, this bra is plain-Jane and very utilitarian - not a sports bra to show off at all. However, under clothing this bra provides a very nice look - not too minimized for my liking - just gently rounded and nicely lifted. I am returning this 32DDD, but was so impressed I've already purchased, received and worn two 32G's and I won't be looking at other sports bra models anymore. Read more 333 more words
wow, great that you found something that is so comfortable and that you're happy with :)
What an endorsement--sounds lovely! How are the wires? Do they bite or has placing them on the outside created a "cushion" from them? I may have to try this because my wireless options keep collapsing.
What an endorsement--sounds lovely! How are the wires? Do they bite or has placing them on the outside created a "cushion" from them? I may have to try this because my wireless options keep collapsing.
Love4Pollinators there is ZERO wire bite. It's pretty amazing, so much so that I thought to myself wow, maybe this should be my everyday bra! Okay, maybe I won't go that far (it wouldn't be compatible with too many tops) but dang, it is comfy! The way the inside of the bra is lined with a stretchy lycra-like material completely isolates the wires. I can't even feel the underwires in the cup size I settled on as my keeper, 32H. In the 32DDD I still didn't feel the wires, BUT, I did feel pressure on my tissue - but no pain. On the several other sport bras I tried (which I will review but won't be posting as adventures because I thought they were all 'meh' or even terrible) even non-tacking wires were very feel-able, and no matter how much I enjoy a tacking gore, it's not a good thing in an active situation. Oh - and I cannot believe I forgot this in my review - this style feels like it has some of the more narrow underwires of the sports bras I've tried, 16 cm in the DDD. That's nice in my book, because too-wide wires (i.e., the Freya active sports at 17.5 cm) smoosh my breasts laterally in a way that I find super uncomfortable.
I picked my Wacoal UW Sports bra up from Amazon and it was returnable without additional shipping or penalty. After returning my first order of the 32DDD I upsized immediately to the 32H and that proved to be perfect, so I kept it. Then I bought another on eBay and am hoping to win an auction for one more. :) I like a deal!
Ebay for Wacoal bras is my idea of Mecca. So inexpensive....especially in the larger sizes where they are close to $60 elsewhere. I'm intensely grateful!
Love4Pollinators agree, eBay is a great place to find bargain bras! I bought another Empreinte for $25!! BTW, I have you to thank as inspiration to try this Wacoal - your bras-under-tshirt series starring Wacoal encouraged me enough to drop the $65 to try the Wacoal Sport Underwire in the first place. I'd only ever tried their unlined bras and hated every single one, so I was glad your feedback motivated me to give the brand a second chance, because this sport bra is ah-mazing!
That is wonderful news. Thrilled this worked for you! And, you have inspired me to try the Wacoal Sport. Symbiotic relationship :-) :-)
I've been looking for a wire free bra for some time now to wear for an upcoming trip. I tried a few and they had all the typical wire free bra problems: not enough lift, uniboob, sideboob, etc. I'd just about resigned myself to wearing a wired bra and getting a friendly patdown from the TSA but this one kept cropping up in my Amazon search results. It didn't get good reviews and a few people really hated it. But, it was $35 and Prime shipping, so I figured what the heck, just one more return if it's awful.
But it's not awful! I like ...it! Yay! So glad I took those reviews with a grain of salt. After all, Wacoal does make pretty good bras.
For a wire free bra it has decent cup separation and an unexpected amount of lift. The shape is just slightly east-west but the bra does a good job of corralling side boob. I didn't get the uniboob and downward 7 shape like I got from the 36F - Amoena » Isadora Non-wired Bra (43232) that I almost kept. The band is firm and supportive with a 3 hook closure. The cups are 4 part with a double layer side support panel. The bottom and side support are a non-stretchy satin on the inside. The upper cups are non-stretchy mesh in a very light grayish pink. The outside of the side support panel is covered with the same stretchy swiss dot pattern mesh as the back. The rest of the cup has black lace overlay. The inside of the front band is lined with the same non-stretchy mesh as the upper cups and there are very thin, extremely flexible side stays. The bottom elastic is very wide which contributes to the smoothing effect and supportive feel of the band. Straps are non-stretch and fully adjustable.
It's definitely full coverage but the wings are no higher than any of my Panache underwired balconnets so there's no armpit discomfort at all. The fabrics don't feel scratchy to me although I'm not particularly sensitive to that, and I'm sure they'll soften after washing.
The only disadvantage to this bra for a lot of folks is that cups stop at a US H and they're kind of wide. The straps are not real wide-set though, so it may be possible to sister-size up and alter the band to fit.
One Amazon reviewer said the support of this fell apart in a short time. I'll update with how it wears for me. In the meantime I would say that if you can get a size that works for you at a good price this is one to try. Read more 350 more words
Thanks for your review: I'll try it, too. :-) Wacoal has so impressed me with their wireless bras. And, a few of their wired bras are incredible, also.
oooh thanks for this review I've been wondering about this one!
FWIW I have never been patted down by the TSA due to an underwire. I think that's a myth.
wendybien I'm glad you found the review useful.
I wish the underwire issue was a myth, but I got patted down last year at this time while wearing a Bali underwire. At least I didn't have to go into a private room. Not taking any chances this year. I'd hate to see what one of my Panaches would set off.
Did they say it was because of the underwire? I've never flown WITHOUT wearing an underwire bra and I've only been patted down maybe once every 5-6 flights. they didn't usually tell me why.
No, they didn't say, but the lady patted me around my bra.
It's always a pain flying out of Philly. When we fly back from Albuquerque it's usually more relaxed.
I always get patted down around the bra area too , underwires or not .. must think I can hide stuff in my ample cleavage :/ .. I don't even care anymore it's almost routine . Now my underwires have never set off the alarm either ..just special ... it's probably there on your ticket in code pat Down boobs she finally got them ;) just kidding ..they DO have some code system though because the last time I flew the rest of my family got to go through the express line no taking off shoes or jackets and me I was all long line pat Down take of shoes ....travel is awesome .. lol I am going on vacation in two weeks I shouldn't curse myself
Last year my husband got pre check both ways and I got the regular both ways. So not fair! Especially since he was the one who forgot he had a Leatherman in his bag a couple of years ago that TSA confiscated. Maybe they do have some kind of code for me. "pat Down boobs she finally got them" made me laugh.
Have a great vacation and hopefully they'll lose your special code.
I was patted down once or twice prior to each flight. When I last left the UK, they even unpacked my luggage in addition to two pat downs. Dear friends of mine are Muslim, and I was "on the list" for over ten years. Sigh. Thankfully, somehow my name was recently removed from the list and I pass through with no touching.
Love4Pollinators that just sucks! I'm glad you're at least off the list now.
Wow, I have a crap-ton of Muslim friends, countless Muslim clients including ones in very "hot" countries if you get my meaning, and my sister lived in Egypt for almost a decade studying and interviewing Muslim extremists and I didn't ever make it onto the list! You must have really gotten unlucky, that's crazy!
* I should add my sister isn't on the list either, which just goes to show exactly how unlucky you were.
I'm a pacifist, and I giggled about the absurdity of thinking I was a terrorist which caused problems with the agents, "Mam, do you think this is funny?" "Well, I could cry if that would help." Deep breathing and meditation help ;-)
even though I don't have any bras without wires - will bookmark this one. :-) I looks really cute.
Just have to share this lol - after all the discussion and time spent looking for a wire free bra, I printed our boarding passes today and I got pre check!
finallygotboobs How do you feel about this bra now? I'm SO tempted to try it before it disappears (discontinued).
And, one more question: The piping they use as the wire, how does it feel when sitting on your tissue? I feel like the "princess and the pea" and sometimes the piping hurts if it isn't close enough together to simulate a very narrow gore. Again, thank you!!
Love4Pollinators I hadn't worn this for a while so I put it on today so I could answer your questions.
I like my Soma wire free bras better. The elastic band flips up on the Soma and this, but it feels more uncomfortable in this bra, maybe because the material doesn't have as much give. The band does not have good recovery. It stretches out noticeably during one day's wearing. The straps dig into my shoulders too, and I don't notice that with any of my other bras
I'm not bothered by the piping, but I'm someone who is comfortable with Panache wires so ymmv. The piping only touches my breasts at the bottom. The center is floating a good 2" from my chest! The vertical seams of the lower half of the cups is also raised up on the inside.
Fabrics are still a bit itchy after 3 washes too. Sorry, but there are much more comfortable wire free bras out there.
I had this bra in 30DD, same color, sold it trying to keep a minimal bra wardrobe. Then I see it for cheap and buy it again. This is simply a great, comfy option for a t-shirt bra.
My other moulded bras right now consist of a 28E Deco which mostly fits but is still pretty uncomfortable, not something I want to wear every day of the week. It gapes easily. My other is a 28E Deco soft cup, which fits terribly and gets painful after a long day.. still searching for it in a 28F.
This bra is great because it is comfy - not prone to ...gaping, smooth silhouette. Nothing like a stiff Deco. It isn't a perfect fit, but it tends to deal well with my shape, just creasing slightly at the bottom of the cup. I do believe the wires are prone to stretching wide, so if you need narrow cups it is best not to wear the band tight. My old one had a looser band but seemed narrower, while when i pull this newer one on the wires seem wide.
This bra is a must have for me - until I find something better. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 98 more words
I tried this bra on again, 7 months since the last time (and since my measurements have changed slightly). The fit was pretty amazing! And I almost bought it. Great support and great fit. However, the horizontal seams really show through under tees and knits -- even under a tee AND a thin sweater. Since that's pretty much all I wear, and I really didn't like the horizontal seams showing through, I passed on it. The shape is also a little more torpedo-y than I like.
Tropical peach colorway
This bra's measurements have been altered
I believe I removed a sparkly "bauble" from the gore.
I have a few of these that I had bought in maybe 2011 and really never wore. I started wearing them, pleased with the shape of my boobs and the look of the bra, generally. So then went searching for more Wacoal retro chic bras, and discovered, sadly, that the same bra makes me torpedo-y (ugh). I don't know if they moved a seam between 2011-12 and now, but I was sad that I can't replace these bras.
berexxa Thank you for your comment! I am sorry it took me years(!) to reply, but your comment was helpful - maybe it explains the torpedo mystery! ;-)
This bra is extremely soft! Off the rack, In Bloom is meant for projected/FOB/spaced apart shapes, in my opinion. I altered the gore to make it work, personally, because it was very wide. It's a good basic bra with a 3-part cup - nothing extremely fancy, and it misses the "industrial beige bra" category by only a shade!
I thoroughly loved the Wacoal Basic Beauty: ugly, but blissfully comfortable. As my tissue began moving from my armpits to the center of my chest, I could no longer tolerate the gore. So glad you've found a Wacoal you can enjoy :-) :-)
Thank you DressTheTwins ! Out of curiosity, how do you think Wacoal runs? Are they large in the cup? :o These gores are truly wild, too!
It's completely irrational, I know, but the name of the brand actually puts me off! This is indeed a very pretty bra though.
kerniss The fabrics were much more accommodating than Panache/Cleo, and the wires were softer. I would wear a Wacoal again, but Panache/Cleo are banned. :-)
My experience with Wacoal is that they can be really inconsistent on how they fit from one style to another. I can't comfortably fit any of their moulded styles that are my size or the nearest sister sizes, my 2nd favorite bra/ best fit ever is the Wacoal enchantment though. I tried another unlined Wacoal not that long ago and sent it back (forgot the style name and number though...sigh...) because of how uncomfortably high the gore was - go figure, tall roots and still the gore was too tall!! At least the fabrics Wacoal tends to use aren't itchy. :P
This Wacoal La Femme Contour (853117) bra is very plain looking even with a few lace accents but don't let that fool you. It fits me wonderfully and I feel very supported (even with a paltry 2 hooks). My breasts fill the cup nicely without any gaps or dreaded quadboob. The straps don't cut in and my shoulders and the band is a perfect fit. I don't tend to go for plainer looking bras but I'll make an exception for this beauty.
Looks beautiful on you!
