I have never worn an underwire before because bras never seemed to fit correctly - and of course now I know why! Out of the two I have recently purchased, I really like Curvy Kate better than Goddess. They have a better overall feel to the material and more give in the band. Which is probably why this particular bra didn't fit me. My measurements make me either a 34J or a 36HH. As the Goddess band was nice and tight, I went for the same band in Curvy Kate. But being more "properly" made, the band was technically too large. Although the band ... did not ride up in the back, I was able to pull it away from my body a whole knuckle's worth! This is also probably the reason why the straps didn't seem to be in the right position for me either as they are at the edge of the bra instead of the centre which I am used to in soft cup/wireless bras. It may also be the reason why the gore wasn't keeping my breasts separated (cups seemed to be too close together). I would therefore recommend to go with a smaller band in Curvy Kate if you are between two band sizes.
With this particular model, the cups are a lined foam-like material. The outside appears to be sewn into the foam while the inside material is loose and soft to the touch. The only decoration to this bra, being made to wear under a tight shirt, is a contrasting colour along the edges and a small bow on the straps. It was very comfortable to wear. For washing, I would definitely recommend a molded cup bra bag for a handwash cycle on the washing machine in order to keep its shape.
I will definitely try another bra in Curvy Kate.
