I took apart my previous 40JJ - Elomi » Kim Plunge Bra (4340) and wanted a second one, so here we are. The bra fits better now that I have gained weight and solidly fit this size but the bottoms of the cups are still a little too shallow at the wire, and the gore is still too wide. However, the lack of pointiness now that I fill the cups better is nice. After narrowing the gore and changing the wires, my two standard changes, it should be fine, if not my best fit.

It’s funny to compare this “plunge” with my 40J - Curvy Kate » Dragonfly Plunge Bra (SG5411). This fits very much like a full cup bra on me because of my short roots and the majority of the depth is at the center. With the dragonfly I’ve got a real plunge shape and the majority of the depth is at the bottom and sides. Now if I could get a combination of the two!

I had to wear this bra for a while and do my usual wire swap before I decided how I feel about the fit. I'm happy to say that it is gorgeous and is going to work well for me.

So I got this bra in 40JJ and thought it would fit exactly like my 40JJ - Elomi » Jodi Plunge Bra (4190) as it is based on the same pattern. While the fit is quite similar, my Jodi had a stretchier band and cups deeper at the wire. I think this really shows that all bra brands have differences in individual bras (I had ... two slightly differently fitting Sachis as well). This style by Elomi is the second best style/shape I own by them, after the 40J - Elomi » Tia Bandless Bra (4280) . My first in this cut, the 38JJ - Elomi » Lottie Plunge Bra (4180) is a workhorse I wore nearly exclusively for over a year- it is now limp and worn out, sadly. This bra will replace it.

The print is absolutely to die for. I mean seriously it's so beautiful. The flowers are white and linear on a more bluish toned red background. I wish the lace matched the color- it's more of a warm toned red. However, it's a slight difference, and I like the kitschy pattern of it- very folk, which is the whole vibe of the bra.

The fabrics are all soft and silky, as are the elastics. The straps have matching fabric sewn on the top front. All in all, really a comfortable, all day wearing bra, wrapped in the most beautiful package.

    • very pretty!

    • Beautiful! So glad you know how to make it work!

    • Do you swap in narrower wires? I'm asking because I just sent back an Elomi. It would have been a nice fit if the wires weren't so wide.

    • 1

Yes I always do. I usually do old Panache bra wires because they are usually tall vertical wires and are super sturdy, but there are a number of retailers out there that sell softer wires in a variety of shapes and sizes.

    • 2

ooh, maybe i should save the wires from my floris? they were a tiny bit wide, tho

    • Sorry if I'm getting way off topic here, but when you swap in the narrow wires, do you have to modify or gather the wire channel to make it fit? I'm picturing the fabric puckering because of the narrow wire.

    • Brash5 if the wire is the same length as the other wire I don't really have to do anything. Usually I choose wires that are shorter than the bra and I leave empty space under the armpit, where the wires tend to bother me more, and that works well for me. I also will tack the wires in place so they don't slide back.

As far as there being more room in the cup, because of my breasts they will fill any part of the bra available, so narrowing the wires just brings my boobs more to the front rather than squishing them under my armpits. I don't generally have empty space by narrowing the wires.

I'm not sure if I answered your question, so let me know if I didn't.

You answered beautifully, thank you! :) I have some extra wires and will give it a try with my next Elomi.
