I have tried SO many strapless bras it's not funny. For one reason or another I sent them all back, and I was getting very discouraged. But Woo-Hoo...I'm keeping this one! It felt "right" as soon as I put it on.
The band has firm stretch, boning under the arms (not the back), 3 x 3 hooks, 1 3/8" wide elastic with silicone on the top of the band, elastic encased within the seam on the bottom edge (no silicone) so it's quite comfortable! Plus, this baby doesn't fall down!!! (I really think the trick to its' success is the super wide elastic top.) Yet somehow back ... fat was not an issue. Go figure!
The cups are very rigid (like the Deco's), deep and moderately wide. The top is not cut in like all the other strapless I've tried, and there is sufficient depth for center fullness. And it doesn't even cut in at my armpits! As for profile shape, the cups are softly rounded with a very subtle hint of pointiness and ever so slightly east/west (.5"...completely within acceptable limits, especially considering how hard it is to find a projected strapless). The outside (both cups and band) is covered in fishnet lace with a small band of scalloped lace across the top of the cups, keeping this bra from being boring looking or strictly utilitarian. For comfort, there is NO silicone anywhere on the cups, like most strapless have.
The gore is tall and pushes its' way through a little bit. A lot of the support is coming from that structure but it's well within what I can handle wearing. (Although if it was up to me, I'd shorten it about 1/2"...if I could.) To minimise the height of the wire at the gore, I pushed the wires as far to the outer cups as they would go. So I shall wait and see if it continues to be comfortable under the arms...but so far so good.
The basic straps provided are 1/2" wide and adjust easily, as if the slide buckle might slip while wearing. But so far (a day or two wearing) that hasn't been a problem. The multi-positional straps, both front and back make this very versatile and more useful than just a strapless. But I must admit, I've not yet tried it halter style, which needs the greatest strap length.
Overall, a great bra, with or without the straps!
Freya, you restored my faith in strapless bras with this one!!!
Update: After wearing this a few times for 8+ hours the band under the arms starts to chaff, and it seems 'all of a sudden' I notice the pain and can't wait to take it off. But hey, if it takes that long to happen, I guess I can't complain too much.
