Got bras? Create an account

If you're only going to use one advice of this page, be it this: use the camera timer.

You will need:

General idea

A good picture is one that you'd like to see that helps you notice about the bra, the colors, the size, an overall picture.

Focus on getting the whole object in the photo rather than perfect straight/nothing extra in the frame. Those can always be cut out later.

Pick the right lightning

Daylight near a window is best

If using the flash

Try not to overexpose

Taking pictures while wearing the bra

Risks of "selfies"

Practice your angles and centering

Take many pictures they're free and you can delete them later.

Using the timer

Hair

Get it to the back for front pictures, to the front for back pictures

Mirrors

Arm position

If possible take the picture with your hands on your waist or your arms hanging down naturally. Avoid holding your hands on your back as it may cause your torso to arch giving a false impression of size.

Side photos

Gently place hands on hips and bend elbows backwards without arching back

Framing

A good picture does not have too much room around the focus of the bra. Try not to stand too far from the camera. Also, standing too close is not a good idea as perspective of the bra is lost.

Useful pictures:

Taking pictures wearing the bra

There are two main objectives here.

  1. Show how the bra size looks and behaves.
  2. Front view of the bra - Shows the main bra's features
  3. Angle view - Good perspective of the bra's size
  4. Side view - Depicts how round/pointy the fit can be
  5. Back view - Shows the position of band and strap
  6. Show particular features of the bras. For example:
  7. Central gore position
  8. Side of the underwires under the arm
  9. Any wrinkling

Additionally, you may add pictures displaying any particular fit issue, for example:

Backgrounds

Use a contrast background, avoid busy patterns on towels or paper cloth, ideally use a white sheet or towel for most bras or a solid dark one for clear bras.
