My unicorn bra has vertical seams, a ... Victoria's Secret-low plunge center gore, straps that are reasonably spaced, and wide wires that aren't too steeply U-shaped. Does it exist? Who knows!
My boobs are self-supporting and firm with breast tissue within a finger's width of my collarbone, a super-wide root that reaches my shoulder blades in a flattened curve that looks like the Nike swoosh, plus breast tissue that almost meets on my sternum in what might be very slight natural symmastia. My roots mean I have all the shallow problems and I get Orange-In-A-Glass a lot, but also have trouble with bras that are too shallow (ESPECIALLY at the wire). I guess I have average shoulders (I used to think they were wide, but then I found Freya) and a somewhat conical rib cage with a slight rib flare on one side. I am also very sensitive to tags, seam edges, and rough fabric.
Things I like in bras:
-vertical seam cups all day long
-low center gores (plunge style), or Fauve's magical half-cup gores which don't dig
-round or natural shape, padded or unpadded
-long lines and high wings (3+ hooks)
-color! bright colors are great
-vintage, burlesque or fancy aesthetics, and embroidery or other details, especially embellished straps (double strap, ribbon stitch, etc) and bands. why forget about them when they can be cute too?
-ribbons, ruffles, stripes, just give me all the frou-frou crap! I adore Lise Charmel and Wacoal Salute, although I've never seen any in person
Dislike:
-T-seam balconettes, super-shallow plunges
-narrow wires, wires that stop too low and stab at the armpit
-overly wide straps
-gore-ing gores
-itchy seams (i.e. roughly finished cup seams), boning ends, or scratchy tags
-most prints, but especially animal print
I love pretty bras and cute bras and COLORFUL bras, and I think everyone deserves them.
