Bra fitting help » too small... :(
Panache » Porcelain Moulded T-shirt Bra (3376) » 28DD 28:5
Issue resolved
I've been taught what styles will fit me best, and unfortunately this is simply not one of them!
Original problem
The top of the cups dig in no matter what, but they are otherwise perfectly filled. The band is too tight and leaves a nice mark if I wear it for a little while. I own it in a 28DD, which is my usual size, but I'm not sure if I should go up a cup or band size in this bra or forget it all together. I would really like to figure out a size that fits for this bra because it seems like it would be very comfortable if I wasn't having these issues

helpfulThis is just a bra which is not at all well suited to your (and also my) size area. And I assume also to your needs in bra cut.
I looked through your pictures and will write some things I noticed about them: The Cleo Jude is in all likeliness too small in the cup. The wires are not sitting beneath your breast tissue, they're sitting on it.
The Freya deco may have too narrow underwires for you. Check the marks it leaves when you take it off, are they on your breast tissue? They shouldn't be, you should then try bras with wider underwires.Generally, I'd suggest to try balconette and halfcup styles by Cleo and Panache. Models which would probably fit well are the Cleo Juna and the Panache Harmony/Melody. Possibly also some Freya halfcups with wide underwires. Ewa Michalak will probably also fit.
You will notice that if you push the Cleo Jude down so the wires sit beneath your breast tissue, the cup edge will probably cut into your breast. A lot of bras (mainly plunges and full cup bras) are too "closed in" at the top, they bend in too much. You can see this effect in this bra, too, only very slightly. If you look at the edge of the bra, it gives a very, very small quadboob effect. For this reason balconettes and halfcups will yield higher success rates.I've tried this bra in my size and it has really strange underwires. I assume that you feel the band is too small mainly because of the odd bend of the underwires. For me, they were in an odd angle and it was insanely painful to even try it on! It's just a model which isn't well suited to our part of the size spectrum.
If you're looking for a basic padded bra model, I'd try the Cleo Juna. Unpadded: Panache Harmony.

Yeah, I have only once seen a Panache Porcelain fit someone well, and that was in a way bigger cup & band.
Ah, I'd be very jealous if the Freya Deco really fit :D I wish I could wear it! Sadly, the underwires will always be too narrow for me. I have seen women with my needs in bras who altered their Deco by putting in wider underwires and it seemed to work for them, so in case they turn out to be too narrow, you could also try that. (Because the Deco truly is an amazing bra!! :D)
I'm glad I could help you :) Let's see if the other models fit you better!

Another model which I forgot which would probably fit very well is the Cleo Lucy in berry (the black one is sort of weirdly cut). Cleo Sasha/Bonnie/Lizzie/Sady/Rita will also work. Masquerade bras from older seasons will work, but I assume the Rhea etc. generation to have too narrow underwires for you.

helpfulTo me this looks more like a style/cut issue. This bra just is not one that will work well for your body type and breast size. You have all the indications of a bad fit, and they all indicate to go up a cupsize. For example the slight quad boob. The digging in the back band is also an indicator that the cups are an incorrect volume, if your breasts cannot be placed properly in the cups the band will be pulled tight making it feel too small. I just do not think that making any adjustments in the size of this bra will work to get you the proper fit.
With the other poster noting your fit in the Deco, you may also consider the Parfait line of Affinitas. They have their smallest bandsize as a 30, but many of them run a little tighter. Many ladies that have the Deco and the Casey or Jeanie actually prefer the Affinitas bra. It may not work for you, but it is something worth trying. The Charlotte is very tight in the band with a higher gore, it runs smaller in the cup as well. It has seems but may give you a similar look under clothing as the Porcelain. It was my favorite bra when I wore a 28FF, I bought it in a 30F.Updated on July 2, 2012 Flag this

Thank you, I will be sure to try those out :)

helpfulI'm surprised you find a 28 band to be too tight, since your underbust measurement is 24. The band needs to be snug enough to be supportive and it's normal if it leaves an imprint. But of course the bra shouldn't feel constricting. You can try a 30DD.

helpfulPanache bands tend to be really thin... try a different brand, perhaps? Optimally, a 24 band should fit you (maybe a 26). This band doesn't look like it's cutting in at all, so I'd guess the problem is that a) the band is thin and b) the band is loose enough to pull up and cut in. Look for a band that is wider and doesn't have tight elastic sewn to looser material.

Interesting..I'd never thought about how the tighter elastic effects the material. Thanks!

Thank you! I'll be sure to check them out. I guess I'll be giving up on this one then haha.
The Freya deco doesn't leave any marks when I take it off. It seems to fit well enough that I can't feel it at all but I'll try to pay closer attention next time I'm wearing it because you seem to know what you're talking about :)
And with the Cleo Jude, I can definitely see how that is the issue. I was wondering what was up with the wires being uncomfortable since it seems to fit well otherwise. Except for the minor quad-boob haha :)
