Issue resolved
Thanks for your input, guys. I guess all those pictures of models wearing way too small cups makes it really hard to tell how the cups are supposed to fit on someone wearing the right size. I was planning on keeping it anyway, and now I will definitely do so, cuz it feels great, so I knew something had to be right. Dang, I wish VS would fit their models in proper sizes.
Original problem
I just want an opinion on this bra, so I had to say that it didn't fit when it actually does seem to fit quite well. So ignore the fit issue, I just picked the thing that would be closest to the truth. It's not actually a problem.
Anyway, my question: this bra is a demi cup bra, but it seems like it's too much coverage for that. Would that just be a style quirk for this particular bra, or am I wearing a cup size that's too large? I tried a 32D when I bought this, but when I stood up straight I was getting some quadraboob, so I went with the 32DD, which only has some slight gapping at the top when I slouch and put my arm forward, if I were to do that for some reason. Other than in that one position, I fill the cups completely once I'm all scooped in. I did notice quite a difference between the look of the 32D and the 32DD on me, and it's that the cup on the 32DD goes much higher. I'm just wondering, could it be too big and still fit? Or am I wrong, either about the fit or thinking there's something weird about this at all?

helpfulNope not weird at all. This confusion might be because I've noticed that in most bra pics, especially those for major complanies/websites, they put the models in a band size too big and a cup too small. It makes the bra look more dainty from the front and gives more cleavage.
Unfortunately this is not how a bra is supposed to fit. The pics you are showing this bra looks great! And by looking at the measurements of you and this bra it looks perfect too. (This bra band does run small. I would say the size of this bra is about a UK 30D/DD which would be perfect for you.) Cup depth look good for pointy boobs too. (I have pointy boobs as well and always have to cut a .5" - 1.5" off of my breast perimeter to get a good fitting cup.)
I actually kinda just went through this with the Calvin Klein Seductive Comfort Customised Lift bra I bought (that I haven't added yet). Normally in CK I wear a 30D. After looking at the data on bratabase for it I was confused... the numbers where telling me that in the bra I would need a 30DD.
Since Nordstrom actually had a 30D and a 30DD in stock at a store by me I went and tried on both. Bratabase FTW! I was totally spilling out of the 30D while the 30DD is perfect. It does feel a tad more cumbersome than what I'm used to but the bra fits perfectly. (I'm pretty sure the padded cups on this aren't helping the somewhat large feeling either but I was desperate for a nude bra that truly fit under my white shirts that had straps and is a dark enough colour to not show!) No gaping or empty spots anywhere... and I've tried finding them too! lol
Passed the work test with flying colours. If I can wear a bra all day at work and nothing about it bugs me it's a winner!

helpfulThis looks like a good fit to me also. You might be able to wear 30E bras also, but 32DDs will be much easier to find. A 30E may make gapping go away though, because it may keep all the breast tissue in place better (so that it doesn't escape out the sides).
I find this true of myself....when I wear the smallest band I can, then my bust looks fuller & there's no gapping at the top of cups. My teardrop shaped boobs have gotten fuller looking on top now that I wear a good fitting band & large enough cup (google "breast tissue migration" in regards to too small cups/too big bands on bras). This can give more of a cleavage look too, although as the previous poster noted, not like they show on the models .

helpfulI'm always confused about how high up bras go! But it does look like it fits you, and I'd guess that you'd have spillover in a smaller cup. (Spillover =/= sexy.)
If you want a lower cut, you could try altering it. I have successfully altered bra cups. If you trace the pattern onto the cups with chalk (while you're wearing the bra), sew along the chalk lines, and then cut, it works pretty well. Caveat: if the foam is thicker in the middle, it might show a bit under tops.

helpfulIt looks good to me. The trouble with some bra brands is that as the cup sizes go up, they decide they need to add masses of fabric to provide extra support. Us busty ladies can't pull off a teeny weeny demi-bra like the models wear (not that we'd want to; they're Photoshopped into them, so I imagine they're hella uncomfortable.)
If the underwire is poking you, going down a cup size might help. However, it looks like your breasts are already a little squeezed into the cups; maybe a larger cup size would give you more lift instead of squishing them, which could help move the underwire to a more comfortable place.
You also might want to try a smaller band, or take the band in a notch at a tailor's; it looks like the 32 might have the potential to ride up over the course of the day. Can you fit than 2 or 3 fingers under the band comfortably while you're wearing it? That's good. But if you can fit more than that without feeling squeezy, you should definitely try a smaller band!
I'd suggest experimenting with smaller and larger cup sizes if you can, and trying a smaller band, and seeing which feels more comfortable!

I currently wear a 30GG/H (US 30J/K), and I actually prefer demi and half cup bras.

helpfulI wore Victoria's Secret bras almost exclusively for several years, and what really stood out was that the bands were very stretchy. The good thing about that is that it allows a lot of room for error and remains comfortable. The bad thing is that it offers very little support. From your back picture, I wonder if your back band may be overstretched, pulling the straps very far to the sides (and likely pulling the cups up and out as well). I think Victoria's Secret must adjust for +4 sizing, so you may do better in a 34C or D in their bras. On the other hand, you'd probably get better support in 30D or DD in another brand.

I just added that CK bra. It shouldn't be long for the pics to be approved.
