Bra fitting help » Cups a tiny bit too big--wires too wide
Fantasie » Elodie Side Support Bra (2182) » 32G 32:9
Issue resolved
Good suggestioms all around.
Original problem
Tops wrinkle a little, and the wires go almost behind my arms, or so it feels. Oddly, the label says the sizing is 32G in both UK and US size. Euro 70G. At the gore, the wires seem to fit until I've worn it a little while and then they dig in. It also feels that, if I could move the straps out another inch or so the cups would fit (but my shoulders don't go out any more--they're pretty narrow).
Any ideas on how to modify or what else I should be looking for? Someone had suggested Freya earlier but I tried a few on my very brief shopping trip in England and none fit at all properly.

helpfulI used to have that one! The Elodie is a full-coverage sort of bra. One common supportive feature of most full-coverage bras is the underwiring, which tends to come up higher and extend further toward the armpit than other types of bra.
It might benefit you to go down a cup size, but I think if you did that they'd be too small :/ Maybe it's just not the right style of bra.
I have the same problem with a lot of full-coverage bras too. Do you have a short-ish torso? I think that's why it happens; these bras are meant for people with longer rib cages. They tend to have more space between the breasts and the armpits.
I'd recommend trying a differently shaped bra. Balconettes tend to work well for me, as well as some demi-bras; maybe you would have better luck with them too.

I was thinking the same thing: it looks like a style issue, not a size issue. Out of curiosity, have you tried scooping your breast into the cup from the sides and bottom?

glyla
I hadn't really thought of scooping from the bottom but I am going to try once it's dry.

The Elodie is kind of marketed as a balcony bra, but with "side support." That's probably why the poking under the arms is happening :( You could always try browsing pictures of people in different model bras on Brastop to get an idea of how high the underwire goes!

helpfulThe underwires on a bra should usually come to about the muddle of your armpit. So the wires look fine to me. Elodie is known for running big in the cup and sometimes the band. So maybe try one cup size down? You have a lot of room in the bottom and side of that cup, a smaller size would give you more lift and centering and you wouldn't have those gaps.
I love the way this bra looks, I want one!
I do not consider this bra to be full-coverage. It has the same amount of coverage as do Fantasie balconettes.
If you haven't read this yet, you should: http://www.venusianglow.com/2008/04/how-to-put-on-bra-correctly-and-why-it.html
It is advice for the right way to put on a bra, gathering in your breast tissue.

I know I tried on either this or the other Fantasie bra I posted in a smaller size and felt it was too small. But could be I needed an FF and they had an F. Can't go back to England now to check! The real problem with the wires is they run too high under the armpit.
I have seen this bra listed on various websites now as full coverage and balconette!

The Fantasie side supprot bras are confusing for some people. I don't think they are full-coverage or balconette, they are just a kind of mid-coverage bra. They are cut low enough that they don't show at my neckline. I don't think Fantasie balconettes are truly balconettes either, though.
The other bra you posted, Sharon, is a totally different bra. The fit is different and so is the sizing. So while you need a larger cup in the Sharon, you need a smaller cup in the Elodie.
A slightly smaller size would be more comfortable under the armpit too. The wires will be shorter AND they will not shift around.
Good luck!

The other one I posted was the Lizbeth which seems similar. The straps are set way too wide though on that one. The cup seems to fit the same. Like you, I do like that they won't show even with a V neck.

I think band 32 is too tight for you. This is the reason why the underwires are so stretched and the side panel should be straight. In 34 band the wires will be shorter. I'm not sure about a cup size.
-
I think she means that the side boning would be straight up and down in the right band size, but that is not so. So I do not think it is a marker of a too-small band.
-
The range of ideas here is interesting and shows how difficult this process is! Since I can fit two fingers beneath the band, and I can breathe, I think the band might be a tiny bit tight but that's how a new bra is supposed to be, right? But I've also read to use an extender for the first few weeks until the band stretches a bit. I might try that--it's easy enough to try.

helpfulI'm pretty sure it's too small on the band for you. You can't tell if the cups are the right size until you get the right sized band.

Question for you and mrsfu: would a band extender help?
-
I definitely think it would be an improvement, but adding an extender doesn't quite turn a 32G into a 34FF.

Yup--short torso, that's me. This didn't look like a full coverage bra at the time. I'll look for balconettes. Someone had suggested that before and I thought this one qualified.
