Issue resolved
Hi Everybody. I got a package from Brastop today with 17 bras. None of them fit. I have been so far off in size and band I cannot believe it.
There's one size I didn't order: 30J
Lottie Curvy Kate 32HH doesn't lay flat against sternum. 32J is a little bit too big and doesn't give a lift.
Curvy Kate Princess 32J gives a lift but I have some wrinkling on top of my cups.
Freya Lauren: 30K way too big but the band is right. 32HH doesn't lay flat against sternum.
Everything now points at me being a 30J.
I now know my stretched bands cannot be longer than 81 cm.(I used to wear bands stretching to 90 cm)
I also know I have to scope like a mad person to get all the bulk into the cups. But I'm getting there.
Original problem
This happens to me all the time. I am really fleshy so my boobs will escape on the side in any of my bras.
At the same time I am certainly not full on top so I need advise on what shapes to look for.
I have some ideas but I want others opinions. After all I cannot be the only fuller figured that have trouble figuring out what is boob and what isn't

helpfulHave you ever tried Goddess, Elomi, Fantasie, Curvy Kate? Anything with wider wires than Freya? If your boobs escape from the side of your bras this can mean the wires are too narrow. You can either go up in cupsize to get wider wires or you can choose a style with wider wires.
I think in your case it is a combination of the two. I would suggest trying the Goddess Keira, the Elomi Caitlyn, Cleo Lucy and halfcups in general.
Also please remember that bras work on boobs like braces on teeth. If you have been wearing too small bras for a very long time your boobs might be deformed. You might carry them under your arms. Only time and the right bra in a large enough cupsize with wide enough wires will bring them back.

helpfulI think you should try a bra with wider underwires and bigger cups. Freya's underwires are often too narrow for wide rooted breasts.
There are quite many people who have problems with armpit tissue and in general it's recommended to get a bra with cups big enough for all the tissue. After wearing such bras for several month breast tissue usually gets together and one can see where the breast really ends. For many women wearing a better fitted bra changed the breast shape so that there is more tissue on breasts and less around them. It's called tissue migration. Also, underarm area contains lymph nodes and for some people wearing bras that are too tight or have too small underwires may cause the tissue to swell.

Thanks for your input :)
I have now tried a 32H bra for a week and my boobs already looks different. So that I had migrated breast tissue is clear.
The difficulty now for me is just finding my right size. 32H Panache Andorra is too small in the cups and too wide in the band. I might look out for it in 30J
In my experiences Panache is flimsier in the band than Freya.
-
I also often struggle with finding a right size :( As for bands, I usually wear smaller band than then what sizing chart tells me. I think Freya and Panache both have rather loose bands, but it depends on the model, too.
-
Ah I see. I probably haven't tried enough bras from Panache or Freya to compare. I settled for Pollyanna, Retro and Millie. And as I have worn Pollyanna no wonder I think Freya have the tighter bands, cause Pollyanna is sturdy :)
Panache Andorra and Panache Tango are flimsy so that was my judgement about Panache.
They are probably built upon first impressions and might not be that thorough :)

We seem to be very similar. I just bought the Fantasie Elodie and Lizbeth in 32G (UK, but it's also marked the same size in US which is odd). You MIGHT like the Elodie. The Lizbeth straps are too far apart for me--I bought it because it didn't seem too bad but, oh well. The Elodie is growing on me as I gather escaped boobs, but I'm not totally sold on it. But you might like the slightly wider wire and deeper cup on it--I need a little bit narrower I think. We both have narrow shoulders and like you, I wore a 36C for ages!

RG: Oh I saw your pictures yesterday and looked at your measurements and yup we seem to be about the same, only you are more of an hourglass shape than me.
Now I am confused. I am wearing a new bra as I sit here asking myself if I am to keep it or not.
Thing is it's not wider or deeper than my ordinary Freya bra's. It just has longer wires and therefore contain me way better! However I have some issues with this one as well. I will upload new pictures of me wearing that bra.
I really desperately need new bras and I'm going on a sailing trip next weak and live in a small tiny nordic town. I have to order oneline and I have to do it fast.
-
What issues? I am finding the "right" or nearly-right size bra is a little tight/stiff, so they need to stretch a little. I was on holiday when I was wearing the ones I posted, and unfortunately was not in a position to take them off after several hours of wear, so they were really uncomfortable by the evening. I'm not sure I would get a new bra just in time for something like a sailing trip. I'd wear somethign old and comfy and -- assuming you're going to be doing some of the sailing. If it's more of a cruise, then perhaps. Try the Fantasie Elodie in 32G or maybe H. (I said that like I know what the heck I'm doing, but like you, I'm learning!)
-
The issues with the Fantasie Depuis I just measured is that the wires lies on my largest boob at the center gore. But it's not visible and it's not uncomfortable.
I feel I am more of a round boob type than a wide one after all. But I'm not sure.
The absolutely best feature with the Depuis is the fit at my armpits. They wires go high and the bra really contains all the bust so nothing escapes to the back.
I wonder if not the case with the more overall fleshy body is that one needs to have a really tight band to force the flesh into the cups. Otherwise it escapes.
When you say the wires on your Elodie is too wide I thought it might fit me, but today after seeing myself in the Depuis I have come to conclude that the cups for me have to be high under the armpits because I am so flesy and flimsy and jiggly (don't get me wrong I love my body as it is, it's just it's just tricky to dress) it's really hard to get the flesh to stay within the cups if I don't wear a really tight band. As if I was almost corseted.
My bras must sit really tight to feel comfortable to me.
The more I look at my boobs the more confused I become. I started off thinking they were wider than their root but I am not at all sure of that anymore.
To me the ideal bra more and more seams lite a plunge kinda style with real much support under my armpits and then it can be quite low in the front. The most important thing seams to be to keep the flesh in the cups under my arms.
And I don't understand why they don't make more cris-cross style bands. Halterneck I cannot stand but cris-cross is comfortable for the sloping shoulder girl. That might be an alteration for me in the future.
Sad thing is: I have no comfy bras left. I sit without bras several hours a day and that's not going to do for much longer. So I need to find bras like desperately fast. That's why I will probably keep the one I bought today. I will try to upload some pics of it.

Eliza
The Elodie sits way too high under the armpits for me (I am short) so it might be perfect for you.
-
RG
I once tried the Freya Pollyanna and it has the same shape as the Elodie. http://www.bratabase.com/browse/freya/arabella-balcony-5731/
So that won't probably do for either of you and me.
I will upload a lot of pics now on my other bras.
Also I have bought this Freya Cabaret in a larger size and we'll see if it fits :)
-
Straps on the Elodie are not as wideset.
-
But I'm afraid I won't fill the cups in the center :)
Can you measure the height in center gore and at the sides? That will probably tell me more than anything of the fit.
The center gore must be fairly small both in cup separation (I want none what so ever!) but in height too! The wires on my new Chantelle pokes. The center gore is 9 cm high and it pokes. The center gore on my Freya Millie is 7.5 cm high and I think thats the maximum I can stand. The Freya Pollyanna is 6.3 cm in height in the center gore and that's better.
-
Sure--center gore is 8.5 cm high. The sides slope, but where the wire ends is 10cm then there is another bit of side-shaping boning past that wire that is 9.2cm. the center gore is 2 cm from outer edge of the wire to outer edge--from inner edge to inner edge of the wire on the center gore is 3mm. Does that help?
-
I fill up the cup in a 32G and you have a very slightly larger breast perimeter.
-
Yup that helped a lot :)
The wire on the Chantelle is 11 cm and then the fabric continues 2.5 cm. The height of the side altogether is 15 cm.
Thus the Elodie won't contain me on the sides :)
-
The sides on the Cabaret is 11.5cm and the wires only 9cm.
The wire on the Pollyanna is 7.5 and the side all together is 9cm.
The side of the Millie is 10 cm and the wires on the side is 10. Boobs escapes.
Conclusion: I need really high sides and side support. But I still need them to be low in the front.
Alterated fullcups should probably do it for me *sigh*
I probably haven't found my bra yet, but I know it's out there somewhere :D
-
Side support, low center gore and high wires: looks like you might want to look at the Elomi Suzie/Betty cut. Sadly this is regularly only available from a 36 band on, although you can sometimes find Elomi bras in 30 and 32 backs on ebay that were specifically made for modelling purposes. Alternatively you could look at the Panache Tango II Plunge.

helpfulHi
I will just thell I have been so far off in sizes it's rediculous. I am now in a Panache Andorra 32H Full Cup! I have never before filled a fullcup.
No wander, they were all at least 3 cup sizes too small.
I have now collected fat from my armpits and back as to fill 3 cups larger than I'm used to. And I am still not done. I don't know if I'm one, two or even three cups off even in a 32H, but looking at my armpits there is much more to go.
I might keep it just to have one bra at all as I now consider myself utterly and completely braless.
I found this blog post and it explained a lot to me: http://www.bralessinbrasil.com/2012/07/torso-length-height-underarm-fit-and.html
I have a long torso.
But maybe I would be fine with this bra in a 30J. I could totally wear a smaller band if I wanted to.
I will shop on Friday and I will start by demanding they give me 32HH to start.
I thought I had some clue. I have even helped people with fitting. This is totally changing my perception of my body.
You never know how big youre boobs are until you find your right size bra.
Thank you t-maia and RG for help. My journey has just begun.

helpfulI'm overweight as well and I've had the same problem (empty on top, side boobs) when I was wearing a bra that was too small on cup and too big on the band. I was wearing UK 42C for years when my true size is indeed 36GG.
I started finding the right size first with 38FF and had to scoop the breast tissue into the cups not only from underarms, but also upper back (outer edge of shoulder blades) - but voila, most of my back rolls disappeared! Since the cup was now filled like it should, the band was suddenly way too loose. Using the conversion chart (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OfrhtDDZOUw/T-CDj9qvgII/AAAAAAAAAAY/UkJ2sEkpEUw/s1600/cupsize.png) I saw that the corresponding size for 38FF on 36 band would be 36GG - and it was! I'm so happy and relieved to finally have fitting bra.
Since you measure about 32 in underbust, I'd suggest you try 32 or even 30 bands. Because of the side fat I'm guessing you'd need at least 2 sizes bigger cup, so I'd suggest try Freya Deco (or similar) in 32H or 30J and go from there.
Let us know when you find the right size!

lupiniess
Oh I'm so happy to hear of someone who have actually done this journey! I thought it couldn'e be done, that maybe maybe this was just my shape and that I had got like insane or something trying to do this!
I am 39 (no kids) so I have hade my fair share of wrongly sized bras and I never had that full round bust as a young. They would be more pointy so I didn't care about bra's. Then in the nineties everyone had pushup bras. So did I. In 36C, for ages, weight fluctuating I didn't care.
When I got fitted and started wearing 34F I thought this was it. But I did questioning it. I did try bigger cups myself. But it would look as if I drowned in them (Panache Inferno). Noone around me had never heard about migrating breasts in 2007 when I did my fitting.
I always questioned if it was right, "could I not as well put more in my cups as it's after all there? All these fat around how would you know that wasn't also my breasts?!"
I had that thoght in my head all the time: "but what if?".
Did you also look like you had extra breasts on your back? That's how I look. Venesian glow made a post that was somewhat almost rude, but the thing is that's about how I look, just thinner. http://www.venusianglow.com/2011/12/proof-that-breast-tissue-can-migrate-to.html
Was that the thing for you too? I might have missed out on about 25% of my boobs. If not more.
I am keeping my 32H, just because it still is better than my Freya 34F's. I'm going on a sailing trip tomorrow and I have no bikini and no bra and there are no stores catering to me I can get to before. I kept a 34FF in this style as well. The wires are a little wider so it feels better but there is obviously no lift.
I will definitely start at 30J and 32HH cause I can tell by now, my Panache Andorra 32H is not holding me up.
Had you too problem knowing what was boob and what was not? I mean it's almost crazy hard to measure the perimeter of ones poor boob if there seams to be no start and no end, even if bending over.
The strangest thing is the Andorra is so comfortable lying down it could almost be my sleaping bra. I had never even considered sleaping in a bra before, but strangely enough it was more comfortable lying down than standing up. I suppose that may suggest the band is too big? :)

I think that summons it up pretty good actually :D
-
I found a page since I posted this and it says boobs in the back is still boobs that have escaped back from bad bras. http://www.venusianglow.com/2009/09/get-rid-of-armpit-rolls-in-5-seconds.html This must be what you are saying too.
Actually I have a LOT of fat under my arms and yup definitely even on my back and I went around wearing 36C cups for 15 years so I'm probably totally deformed.
I tried now to collect the fat from my back and under my arms cause I couldn't believe I could do it. But it worked. I just haven't got anything to try on at home :D
But I will definitely see if I can find your suggestions somewhere.
Thank you :)
