Bra fitting help » Empty space in the bottom and top of cups cutting in part 2
Freya » Jolie Plunge Balcony (4101) » 30G 30:9
Issue resolved
Went down a cupsize
Original problem
As per request, myself in a Freya Jolie.
From the previous thread:
I have a lot of empty space at the bottom of my cups. I was told by a bra fitter I should be wearing my bra lower like I am in the picture, (though I have space even if I don't wear them lower, and I don't know how low exactly to wear them), and so I tightened the straps. I don't know how much exactly the bra fitter did it in the bra I wore to the store, which wasn't this one, so I tried to match the straps and adjust it from there.
I did it too much, and the by where the bow is in this bra cuts into where my armpit and breast meet. If I loosen them, they don't feel like they support very well. I have this bra in a 30FF as well, and I spill over the tops.I still have a little bit of space here, but there isn't much cutting on the arms and I attributed that to the fitter being able to fix them while they were on me vs. me fitting them myself at home.

helpfulThis looks a bit better IMO. How does it feel to you? Do you like the Emily or the Jolie better?
Could you try the 30FF with straps lengthened and an extension? Sometimes spilling out of the cup can be caused by a cup that is pulled flat by a slightly too tight band.
Empty space at the bottom of the cup can mean
- that the cup is too big or
- that the wires are too narrow.
- cupshape and or wire shape do not fit the boobs
- the bra is too small and has not been put on correctlyThe wire width looks ok here and on the CK Emily, so this cannot be it, IMO.
This makes me think the cup might be too big and that the shortened straps and the tight band hide this. Thus the recommedation to try the 30FF with an extension and straps lengthened.
You can also try again putting on the bra correctly. Also you should feel for the crease of your breasts, some women are simply shaped that way that the wire cannot sit in the breast crease properly. They will always have empty space there.
Do the wires dig into your stomach when you sit? Are they comfy even when you slouch?
If the bra is comfortable I would recommend keeping it and wearing it for a while, especially if this is your first bra in the right size. Part of the problem might be a migration issue.
BTW, if the fitter told you to wear it lower in front she was probably trying to sell you a bra with a too small cup. I wear a 40H(UK), but when I pull the bra down and wear it lower I can make a 42D look ok on me. You can tell whether a bra sits too low if you have skin on skin, ie your breasts touch your ribs.

Yup, pictures of the 30FF would be a good idea. But since you say it is comfy don't worry too much about the empty space. Did you mail order those bras? My suggestion would be to keep the Jolie in 30G and maybe in 30FF and one other bra and try some other bras in that size bracket, focusing mainly on Freya and Fantasie.
I also think you are full on top, so you might want to check out bras suitable for that shape. Aside from unpadded Freyas and Fantasie bras you could check out the Cleo Alexa, the Cleo Chloe and the Panache Andorra.

I did indeed mail order these bras! It's nice to have a size that I don't quad boob in anymore, woohoo.
Huh, full on top, I always figure I was fuller on the bottom because I sag quite a bit. I know it's not the same, but there's a lot of strain on top so I figure that was just a flat area.
Pictures of the FF coming up! http://bra.pe/TBo/
I am so much more comfortable in this bra than I am in the other one, but again...I really don't trust myself with bras because I don't know anything about them. This is the one the fitter adjusted me in, so I feel like that may be why it feels better. The bra really is comfortable in every position-- sitting, bending over, jumping. I feel great!
I could try on the 30FF, sure! I don't own any extenders though, which makes me wonder if I should be going up to a 32? I measured a 30 exactly around my ribcage, but I've been told by multiple people that I should stick with the 30 because the 32 leaves way too much room. It's funny you mention the space though, because I've never had that problem before trying on the G. As for the migration issue, I do know that for the longest time I wore a D, then moved up to an E, and now I'm finally at this batch of bras. I really just bought around 12 bras of the same type in different brands and sizes to compare and try. (F,FF, and G).
Should I post another fitting with the FF?
