Bra fitting help » Why is the arm hole so small/high?
Curvy Kate » Angel Balcony Bra (CK1201) » 28J 28:13
I just purchased this bra online according to some new measurements and was surprised at how high the front arm hole is. Is this something to do with the new size? Or is this just the style of bra? Does anyone have suggestions about how to avoid this issue for my next purchase?

helpfulThe cup is way too big for you, so it's extending higher and farther back than it should. The straps are much too tight to take up the extra fabric in the cups, pulling the back higher. Everything is being pushed and pulled up toward the armpit. I'm not sure if you need a different back size, but I'd go down at least a couple of cup sizes.

helpfulIm a Curvy Kate hater (hate their shape, hate their wires) so Id say just avoid them. You NEED narrower wires, and a smaller cup. Cant tell bout the band - but if youre okay with it, stay with the 28. Please oh please try Cleo? I hate to see such wonderful breasts dragged down in a bad bra.

Well it's true :)

helpfulThe band is too small and the cup too big.
Look at the side, the cup is empty between your breast and the wire. The unused space there makes the band feel loose, making you think you need a 28 or 26 band.
I think you might be a lot better off with a 30GG.

Before this, I had an order of 30GG Panache. As soon as I got them, I had to use the tightest hooks and there was a definite indentation at the top of the bra (quad-boob). Would it be that different to do a 30GG in Curvy Kate?

Different company, different style, almost certainly different fit. You can't rely on different bras to fit the same just because they have the same size on the label. Even if you have other bras in this same size that fit you wonderfully, in this style it doesn't.
-
Could you post pictures of the 30GG Panache?
-
Curvy Kate unpadded bras are tighter then FReya/Panache. Try 30 ( I would even try 32 - bra doesn't have to be the tightest, it have to be tight enough to support)
-
My too tight CK Emily looked exactly the same - the arm hole was too high.

I think this is the Panache: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/panache/melody-fullcup-6055/30GG/

Are those your pictures? This bra fits very well, the wires are in right spot. I cannot see any quadboob at all. If you have it, it is probalby related to the cupshape of this bra. The Melody Fullcup is a difficult model, the cup closes very soon and either cuts in or has the lace fluttering around.
I would suggest trying other bras in 30GG, maybe the Curvy Kate Emily, Cleo Marcie (that one in 32G, the band is very tight) and the Cleo Lucy. -
BTW, if the band of the 30GG really rides up, go for try those bras above (including the Melody Fullcup) in 28H and the Marcie in 30GG.

I completely agree with t_maia, the Melody Panache in 30GG is a perfect fit for you.

helpfulI would actually stay with a 28 band but then maybe go down a cup size. Curvy Kate can do that sometimes because their cups are so wide. You might do better with Freya because of their narrower underwires. You could also bend the underwire away from your armpit if that's what primarily making you uncomfortable.

helpfulIt is kind of hard to tell from your photos but 2 things jump out at me that make me think this is a shape rather than size issue. It looks like the back of the band is sitting fairly high on your back & not high enough under your bust and you've got some wrinkling at the bottom of your cups. I used to think I had wide set, low boobs because this is exactly how I looked in a lot of bras, when in fact I'm the exact opposite (narrow & extremely high set). June at Braless in Brasil has a fantastic post that I've linked to a million times but it was a total revelation to me as to why I couldn't find a bra that seemed to fit correctly! http://www.bralessinbrasil.com/2012/07/torso-length-height-underarm-fit-and.html
I do think Curvy Kate bras do tend to come up higher under the arms as well as having pretty wide underwires yet narrowing at the bottom of the cups (making it hard to fill if your breasts are full on bottom).
Maybe you need a smaller cup size but definitely consider your shape; it may not be what you think it is!

My breasts are quite close together and I often find that underwires travel too far to the back even when I'm in the right size - it's just indicative that that particular bra style doesn't work for me. I would not recommend Panache or Curvy Kate. I would recommend Freya or Cleo instead.

This great post by Bras I Hate points out that CK bras have their own unique fitting rules, which you can't compare with bras from other brands. http://brasihate.blogspot.nl/search/label/Curvy%20Kate
But I also think that their wires are too wide for you, hyper-horse.

helpfulAre you petite/short? I have this problem with so many bras. I just got a Chantelle Rive Gauche and I know the cups are not too small but they come right up into my armpit the way this bra does for you.
I am short, short torso, breasts start high on my chest and are narrow. I'm going to offer you advice on the perfect bra--once I figure out what it is!!

helpfulI think the band and cups are too big for you. The back of the bra is not at the same level as the front (rides up). I agree with splish the straps are too tight pulling the back higher that's why the arm hole was too high. Your boobs are hanging and non-supported because the cups are too big.

helpfulThere are a couple things going on here...
The band is too big. You definitely want it to be sitting at least a 1/2 inch lower on your back than what you are showing.
The cups are way too big, which is why the wires are extending back so far, you have less support, and there's a lot of wrinkling in the cups. I would really suggest going down two cup sizes (28H).
You may find that you might like a 30GG a lot better, specifically in this style. Also, the wires may not be as wide in that size as well.

helpfulDefinitely look for a style with narrower wires and you could drop a cup size.
